Chapter 38

"I went to visit aunt Abby yesterday and conveniently we both got a phone call of Elena, telling us that you are associating with the original vampires" Lucy said.

Bonnie glared at Elena and said "I do something you don't like and you go and tell my family".

"This isn't about me, Bonnie" Elena said "I called them because you weren't listening when I said the originals were dangerous, so I thought you would listen to your family".

Bonnie rolled her eyes but then Caroline, Klaus, Liz and Kol came out of the house. They all stood next to Bonnie but Kol stayed close and placed a hand on the bottom of her back. Liz looked between them and said "what's going on?"

"Why didn't you tell me, Liz?" Abby said "instead, you let Bonnie lie to Rudy about staying with you for a while, while Caroline goes through a hard time but really she is staying with the originals and one of them is one of your ancestors".

Liz opened and closed her mouth as she didn't know how to reply but then Caroline said "looks like the whore has been opening her mouth" she glared at Elena.

Abby opened a car door and said "Bonnie, get in" Bonnie shook her head and Kol wrapped his arm fully around her waist and tightened his grip on her. Bonnie hated this. She was in the arms of the man she loved yet, she was being forced to leave by her family. She had just accepted Kol's offer to be with him and now they were being forced apart. Bonnie's family glared at Kol because of where his hand was and Abby then said "get in the car or I will ring the town council about what is going on here tonight and then I will drag you with me back to North Carolina".

Kol looked at Liz and said "can she do that?"

Liz sighed then said "legally yes. Bonnie hasn't left high school yet, so her parents can keep her at home...if the council come here, they will burn this place to the ground and will shoot everything that tries to escape".

Klaus smirked and said "we won't go down without a fight".

"Klaus, you have most of your allies in there. Witches, vampires and newly made hybrids, do you want to put that to the test?" Caroline felt a ping of worry as she would not only lose some of her friends but if there was a fire, it would destroy the second chance Klaus would have to get to know his father.

As everyone continued to talk, Bonnie and Kol could only focus on each other and he whispered "you don't have to go".

"Yes I do" she said as tears were forming in her eyes.

"We could run".

"And go where? I have to look after Caroline, remember the vision".

He smirked then said "Venice, Paris, Prague, Rome, Florence. You name it and I'll take you there".

She smiled but then a tear fell from her eye and just as Kol was wiping it away, Abby said "Bonnie, now".

Bonnie looked at Rudy and said "dad, please".

Rudy hated to see his only daughter cry but he knew what they were doing was for the best. He said "we will discuss if Mystic Falls is suitable for you, when we get home".

Bonnie closed her eyes tight so that no more tears would fall but she opened them just for a second to look at Kol and give him a quick kiss before she rushed towards the car. Kol didn't have a chance to truly respond to the kiss as it was that fast but even then he felt her lips on his and he didn't want to go back to a time when they were never there. He rushed forward to try and stop her but Abby held her palm towards him and he fell to the floor holding his head as she was giving him an aneurism. Lucy got in the car after Bonnie and Jamie got in the other side so that Bonnie wasn't near any of the side windows. Abby released Kol but then turned around and got into the car to drive away.

Of course Damon, Elena, Alaric and Jenna weren't that far behind them as they didn't want to stick around to face an originals anger. Kol ran a hand through his hair as everyone was giving in sympathetic looks but he just ran back inside the mansion and into his room.

When Bonnie and her family arrived back at Rudys house, Bonnie tried to walk upstairs to her room but as she took the first couple of steps "what the hell were you thinking, Bonnie?" Rudy said.

Bonnie took a deep breath before she turned around to look at all of them "what was I thinking? Tonight was suppose to be a night of celebration, not just of Caroline getting her memories back but of the beginning of something new...and now look at it, ruined" that was the last she said before she rushed upstairs and locked herself in her room.

She looked at herself in the long mirror and ripped the broach that held the top of her hair up, out so that it all fell down. She got out of her ball gown and put some shorts and t-shirts on before she climbed into bed and cried herself to sleep.

At the Mikaelson mansion, when the ball was coming to a close, the Mikaelson family said their goodbyes to their last remaining guests and when Elijah closed the door he wrapped his arms around Amelia's waist, like Stefan and Klaus did with Rebekah and Caroline. Stefan said "well that didn't go too bad".

Klaus said "I have to agree with Stefan, no one died except the people that were suppose to and the only incident we had was the one with the doppelganger. I say that this has been a success".

Caroline scoffed and said "I still can't believe the hybrids are in the forest".

Klaus sighed "my love, it was part of our deal. They don't like living in places like this" he gestured around him "they wanted to stay in the forest so I had made for them a cabin. It has electricity, water and is fully furnished. It is better than most of the houses in Mystic Falls and fits them all in" she crossed her arms and glared at him "if it makes you feel better you can go and have a look" she smiled then kissed his cheek.

They all laughed at how easy Caroline could get what she wanted, like always but then the next thing they all saw was Kol heading to the door changed out of his suit and into his jeans. They all knew exactly where he was going and Elijah said "brother are you sure this is wise?"

"Yeah, perhaps you should give them some time" Stefan said.

Kol turned from the door and snapped "I have given her family enough time with her, I want to see her. Don't start judging me because if it was any of you lot, you would have gone round there hours ago" he then opened the front door and slammed it just as the rain began to fall.

AN: guess what I have officially left high school now. I have to go in on Monday for an hour to do my final exam but other than that I NEVER have to step foot inside of it again. it actually made me cry I don't actually want to leave my friends. Please review
