Scarlett's POV…

"Sky-Guy, do you have to call Donna again?" I asked him in exasperation as we stood by a public phone where the Doctor was going to call my sister again to try and convince her to go on this trip.

But she would rather be at the spa, then go to the Sapphire Waterfall that the Doctor had been going on and on about for the past few weeks. I would have gone with her to the spa, but I didn't want the Doctor to be alone because it was never a good thing when he was.

"Yes!" The Doctor answered loudly as he typed in the number. "She has to see this, Scarlett! It's brilliant!"

"But she doesn't want to go." I protested but it was already too late because he had the phone on his ear and I sighed before scooting in close to hear the conversation.

"I said no!" I heard my sister exclaim on the other end of the phone.

"I tried to stop him, Donna!" I told my sister, raising my voice so my sister could hear me.

The Doctor ignored me as he spoke up, excitement in his voice. "Sapphire waterfall – it's a waterfall made of sapphires!" I shook my head at him, but he didn't notice. "This enormous jewel, size of a glacier, reaches the Cliff of Oblivion, and then shatters into sapphires at the edge – they fall 100,000 feet into a crystal ravine." The way he said would make anyone want to go see it for themselves, but not Donna.

"I bet you say that to all the girls." She teased him cheekily. I laughed and the Doctor gave me a look, his cheeks a little pink.

"What?" I asked. "You probably do. Charmer." I grinned at him teasingly, causing him to roll his eyes but the pink on his cheeks grew a little darker. I laughed, this time to myself. Geez, it was so easy to get him flushed.

The Doctor turned his attention back to Donna. "Come on! They're boarding now! Four hours, that's all it takes."

"No, that's four hours there and four hours back, it's like a school trip. I'd rather go sunbathing. And besides, you have Scar with you, so just be glad someone is going with you."

He sighed, knowing my sister had a point. "Alright fine, you don't have to come."

"Finally!" I exclaimed, earning a hard nudge in the side. It didn't even hurt as I stuck my tongue out at him.

"Thank you." Donna said, getting the Doctor's attention.

"But you be care, that's Xtonic light." He warned her.

"Oh, I'm safe. It says on the brochure this glass is fifteen feel thick."

The Doctor nodded. "Alright then," he said. "Scarlett and I will be back for dinner, we'll try that anti-gravity restaurant. With bibs."

"Sounds good."

The Doctor smiled. "See you later."

"You be careful!" my sister told him. "And take care of my sister, don't let her get into too much trouble."

"Impossible."

"Hey!" I scowled, crossing my arms over my chest. "I resent that!" Then I heard Donna laughing on the other end and I pouted to myself. They were so mean to me.

"Honestly though, there's nothing to worry about." The Doctor told Donna. "Taking a big space truck with a bunch of strangers across a diamond planet called Midnight – what could possibly go wrong?" With that, he hung up the phone and turned to me, grinning excitedly. "Come on then, allons'y!" He grabbed my hand and tugged me in the direction of the shuttle with me rolling my eyes with an amused look on my face at his excitement.

As we sat in the shuttle together, the Doctor watched the last of the passengers come inside as I read from the fashion magazine I brought with me from the TARDIS. I wasn't that far into it when I heard the Hostess speaking. I looked up to see her a couple rows behind us, talking to a blonde woman.

"Complimentary juice pack and complimentary…"

The woman cut her off, sinking down a little in her chair. "Just the headphones, please."

The Hostess handed them to her. "There you go."

I stared at the blonde woman for a moment before turning my attention back to my magazine, which I didn't have to look at for that long as the Hostess came over to us and started handing us things. A lot of things.

"That's headphones for Channel 1 to 36; modem link for 3D videogames; complimentary earplugs; complimentary slippers; complimentary juice pack; and complimentary peanuts."

"Ooh, peanuts!" I cried excitedly, ignoring all the rest of the stuff and opening the medium size bag of peanuts. That's the only thing I loved about going on a plane, the complimentary peanuts. I munched on a couple of them as the Hostess said,

"I must warn you some products may contain nuts."

"That'll be the peanuts." The Doctor joked, but it wasn't really funny.

The Hostess looked at him a little strangely. She brushed it off though.

"Well, I hope you and your girlfriend enjoy your trip."

Instead of protesting this like I always did, I just ignored it. Honestly, I was just tired of protesting about it, especially since I admitted to myself that I did have feelings for him.

The Doctor didn't protest either, strangely enough. He just grinned at her.

"Oh, we can't wait! Allons'y!"

The Hostess' eyebrows furrowed together as she stared at him blankly. "I'm sorry?"

"It's French, for let's go!"

"Fascinating."

The Hostess' dry tone made me laugh out loud and she turned to me, the look on her face asking what was so funny.

"Sorry." I told her with another laugh. "The way you said that was funny. Not many people talk to him like that, well except for me."

She just nodded in response and was about to turn around, but I stopped her, realizing that I didn't know her name. I didn't want to call her, the Hostess, for the whole trip.

"What's your name?"

The Hostess turned her head to look at me with a pleased look on her face at the question. I guess no one had asked for her name before.

"Ella." She responded with a warm smile.

I smiled back at her. After smiling at me again, she turned her head forward and moved to the row behind me and the Doctor. A middle aged man and a young African American woman.

"Headphones for 1-36…"

The man didn't let Ella finish as he gave her a bright smile. "Oh no, thank you, not for us!"

"Earplugs please." The young African American woman said to Ella, who handed one to her and the man.

"Here you go." With that, she headed over to the next person as the man turned to the woman.

"They call it a sapphire waterfall, but it's no such thing, sapphire's an aluminum oxide, but the glacier is just a compound silica with iron pigmentation!" he ranted with her just nodding along.

"And here I thought we were actually going to see a Sapphire Waterfall." I mumbled to the Doctor with a pout as I turned back to my magazine, flipping to the next page.

He didn't respond to me, too busy listening in to the people Ella was talking to. I was listening too but I didn't make it too obvious, like my friend was.

"…complementary juice pack and complimentary peanuts."

"Thank you."

"Have you got that pillow for my neck?" The man behind us asked the young woman.

"Yes, sir."

"And the pills?"

"Yes, all measured out for you, there you go."

From the corner of my eye, I saw the Doctor turn around in his seat to look back at the woman and man.

"Hobbes! Professor Winfold Hobbes!" The man introduced him to the Doctor as Professor Hobbes with a bright smile.

Looking away from my maganze, I sat it down before turning around in my seat as well as I didn't want to be rude.

"I'm the Doctor, hello!" The Doctor said cheerfully and they shook hands. Then he nodded his head towards. "And this is my girlfriend, Scarlett Noble."

At those words, I looked at him taken back. What? Did he seriously just say that?

"Hello there!" Professor Hobbes grinned at me, shaking my hand as well.

I wasn't even looking at him as I was busy narrowing my eyes at the Doctor, who was shifting awkwardly in his seat, knowing why I was looking at him like this. I was gonna ask him about this whole girlfriend thing later. I looked back at Professor Hobbes and smiled pleasantly at him, finally shaking his hand back.

"Nice to meet you," I said.

He let go of my hand. "It's my 14th time!" he informed us proudly.

"Oh! Our first." The Doctor told him.

"First trip as boyfriend and girlfriend, then?" Professor Hobbes laughed and my eye twitched. I was going to kill him for this girlfriend thing. Even though it was kind of nice being referred to as that.

And to be honest, I think I was more taken back by the fact that he called me that. It was one thing to protest about being boyfriend and girlfriend and another for saying that we were. Still, I was gonna ask why he said that because it couldn't be further from the truth.

"And I'm Dee Dee." The woman, now named Dee Dee, introduced herself as she held out her hand. "Dee Dee Blasco." She shook hands with the Doctor, then with me.

"Now don't bother them!" Professor Hobbes scolded.

I didn't like his tone and narrowed my eyes at him. "She's not bothering us…" I was about to call him an asshole, but the Doctor put a hand over my mouth before I could, shaking his head at me.

I pulled the Doctor's hand away from my mouth, glaring at him. That wasn't helping his death sentence.

He winced at my glare.

But the Professor seemed to ignore what I said as he asked Dee Dee, "Where's my water bottle?"

It was then that I spotted Ella, talking to a young man who was sitting almost in the far back of the bus. He wore all black and had black hair that fell into his eyes just right. He was cute, in a bad boy kind of way, and I was inching to push his hair back to see what color his eyes were. I didn't notice that the Doctor was looking at me as I stared at him with a frown on his face and his eyes flashing with jealousy.

Ella was handing him things as she repeated to him what she had said to everyone, "…complimentary slippers, complimentary juice pack, and complimentary peanuts, I must warn you some products may contain nuts."

"Don't be silly, come and sit with us." A middle aged woman, who I guessed was the young man's mother, called over to him. "Look! We get slippers!"

"Jethro! Do as your mother says."

The young man, Jethro, crossed his arms over his chest as he glared at his father. "I'm sitting here."

"Oh, he's ashamed of us." Jethro's father said to his wife, rolling his eyes. "But he doesn't mind us paying, does he?"

"Oh, don't you two start." The mother sighed before changing the subject, "Should I save the juice pack for later or have it now? Look, peach and clementine!"

Ella walked to the front of the shuttle, obviously to address everyone in the shuttle. "Ladies and gentlemen and variations thereupon, welcome aboard the Crusader 50, if you would fasten your seatbelts, we'll be leaving any moment."

The Doctor and I turned around and sat back down in our seats, buckling our seatbelts like she said.

"Doors!"

The doors automatically closed at the sound of voice.

"Shields down!"

And the shields descended in front of the windows.

"I'm afraid the view is shielded until we reach the Waterfall Palace." Ella let us know as she looked at each of us. "Also, a reminder, Midnight has no air, so please don't touch the exterior door seals. Fire exits at the rear, and should we need to use it…you first." She laughed. I honestly wasn't sure why she was laughing. "Now, I will hand you over to Driver Joe."

"Driver Joe at the wheel!" Drive Joe said over the intercom cheerfully. "There's been a diamond waterfall at the Winter Witch Canyon, so we'll be taking a slight detour, as you'll see on this map." Instantly, a map was shown on a screen. "The journey covers 500 kliks to the Multifaceted Coast, duration is estimated at four hours. Thank you for traveling with us, and as they used to say in the olden days, wagon's roll!"

With that, the engines accelerated and the shuttle started moving. I leaned back in my seat with a sigh, grabbing my magazine again. This was gonna be a long trip. I was just glad that I brought more magazines beside this one in the bag that I brought with me.

Ella stepped forward again. "For your entertainment, we have the Music Channel playing retrovids of Earth Classics." She pushed a key on her remote and screens appeared in front of each passenger, showing a music video of Raffaelo Cara singing, Do It, Do It, Again. "Also, the latest installation from Ludovico Klein." She pushed another button, starting a hologram fashion show. "Plus, for the youngesters, a rare treat – the Animated Archives." She went over to this projector, turning it on and it showed old cartoons, one I didn't know existed.

Ella grinned. "Four hours of fun time! Enjoy!"

None of this stuff was fun, it was loud and annoying. Also, all of the things that were going on started giving me a headache. I tried to find the earplugs in the pile of stuff that Ella gave me. No one else was enjoying it either, except for Jethro's parents.

I let out a groan of frustration. "Where are those damn earplugs?!" I fumed, my fiery temper starting to come in at full force. It took me a moment to remember the sonic and when I did, I turned towards the Doctor but he already had it pulled out to stop it. Seeing me looking at him, he winked at me before sneakingly using the sonic and it stopped everything abruptly.

I sighed in relief. Thank god.

"Well, that's a mercy!" Professor Hobbes exclaimed, looking relieved.

Ella frowned as she pressed the buttons again, but it didn't work. "I do apologize, ladies and gentlemen and variations thereupon. We seem to have had a failure in the Entertainment System…"

"Ooh." The Doctor said, pretending to be upset by this.

"Oh no, bummer!" I added as the Doctor and I shared a secret grin.

"But what do we do?!" Jethro's mother exclaimed, her eyes wide.

Jethro's father was just as upset as his wife was. "We've got four hours of this! Four hours of just…sitting here?"

The Doctor cleared his throat, getting everyone's attention as he unbuckled his seatbelt and stood up. "Tell you what! We'll just have to talk to each other instead!" He grinned at the passengers and they stared at him oddly, looking as if they found his idea weird.
