A shrill bell rang through the walls of Tree Hill High, signaling the end of the day and breaking Haley from her dreamy state. She didn't have a class ninth period so instead she spent the free time catching up on grading papers—at least that's what she planned on doing. The shiny diamond that now adjourned her once naked ring finger kept distracting her.

She sighed blissfully when she remembered how only a few hours ago Nathan surprised her with the ring in front of her class. Since then, she hadn't been able to stop smiling. He made her unfathomably happy and she couldn't wait to marry him. She hadn't seen him since only because their schedules had been so conflicting but she knew she had to thank him properly.

Her class was almost as excited as she was, and for the rest of the day, students kept congratulating her. Word apparently travels extremely quickly throughout the narrow halls of high school.

Gazing one last time at the sparkling piece of jewelry, Haley got up and decided to visit her fiancé in his office.

Nathan had to coach the Ravens today, so she wanted to see him before he started.

As she wandered the hall, several teenage girls pointed at her with dreamy smiles and happy giggles.

"Ms. James! Can we see your ring?"

Haley turned when she recognized the voice of one of her students, and offered a kind smile. "Hi Macy."

"Wow, Mr. Scott certainly knows how to pick a ring! That's beautiful."

"Thanks." Haley blushed as the group of girls marveled at her hand. "I'm a lucky woman."

"You sure are! I'm like, so jealous!" She gushed. "You and Coach are seriously relationship goals."

A chuckle emit from Haley's lips as she playfully shook her head. "Thanks, I think."

Macy and her friends smiled, "Well congratulations. I'm so happy for you guys."

"Thank you. We appreciate that." Haley smiled one last time before making her way through the crowded halls. More students continued to point and whisper as Haley blushed. She passed two girls and heard them whisper.

"She's so gorgeous! She and Coach Scott will have the cutest kids!"

"I know, right?"

"I wish I was her."

"The way he proposed was perfect. Laura said she witnessed the entire thing, and they like, made out!" One girl swooned.

Haley gently bit on her lip, finally pushing through the throngs of rowdy teenagers, making it to the gym. Nathan was sitting at his desk, reading what she presumed was a playbook.

Standing in the doorway, she took in his appearance. His sharp blue eyes were even more tantalizing due to his royal blue collared shirt with the words "Ravens Basketball Head Coach" printed on the left corner. His black hair had been neatly combed, creating a spiky appearance which looked magnificent. He also hadn't shaved in a day or two which emphasized his five o'clock shadow that Haley absolutely adored.

"Someone knows how to get the whole school talking." She said, breaking the silence, startling Nathan in the process.

He looked up from his desk and smirked, "What can I say, babe? I've got skills."

Haley playfully rolled her eyes and slandered over to Nathan, placing herself on his lap and wrapping her arms around his neck.

They greeted each other with a sweet kiss which Nathan soon escalated.

Just as he was about to slip his tongue between her lips, Haley gently pushed away.

"We can't do that here!"

"Why not? I've got the office to myself. Besides, we never really got to celebrate the proposal."

One look into his eyes, and she was a goner. "You're right. I never thanked you properly." Haley said, kissing Nathan harder this time. "I love you. I love this ring. Thank you."

"Are you sure? Because if you don't we can return it and pick out a new one—"

Haley shook her head, "No, this is perfect. The way you proposed was perfect. You're perfect."

Nathan smiled, "We're perfect."

The couple shared a lingering kiss which soon intensified. In fact, they got so carried away that they didn't even hear the door open.

"Hey—oh, uh, s-sorry, Coach. I um—"

Hearing the obviously embarrassed voice, Haley disentangled herself from Nathan and blushed when she turned toward the interrupter.

"Que, hi!" She shrieked, equally embarrassed that her student caught her making out with her soon-to-be-husband.

"Sorry to interrupt," he smirked at his coach.

Nathan cleared his throat, adjusting himself in the seat after Haley got up. "Next time just knock."

"I did. You guys just didn't hear me. Good thing I got here when I did otherwise I would've walked in on something a lot less PG if you know what I'm saying."

Nathan glared at his star player. "Don't push it, Quentin."

"I said I was sorry." He mumbled.

Haley smiled, "It's okay, Que. I'm sorry you had to see that."

"It's all good. Word on the street is you're getting married. Congrats."

"Thank you." Haley beamed, fiddling with her engagement band.

"Nice work, coach. Ms. James is a mil—"

"Watch it." Nathan warned.

"I'm just playin'."

"Yeah well go play on the court. I'll meet you guys out there in a few minutes."

Quentin grinned boisterously. "Alright, finish your thing. I'll keep the team busy."
Nathan jokingly threw a plastic ball at Quentin on his way out. "You're a pain in the ass, Fields!"

"I know!" The teen laughed as he disappeared out of the office.

Nathan rubbed his temples, shaking his head. "That kid will be the death of me."

"Aw, baby, he's not so bad."

"You do remember he harassed you on the first day right?"

Haley groaned at the memory. "Well, he's changed a lot and he has you to thank for that. You're a good man, Nathan Scott."

"Thank you." He smiled genuinely before standing up and kissing her chastely, careful not to deepen what they wouldn't be able to finish. "What're you up to now?"

"Well I have to pick up Jack from my Mom's." She revealed with a slow smile.

"Oh okay, well why don't we go out to dinner tonight? You know, like as a family. We can celebrate the engagement."

"I was actually hoping I could stay and watch the practice, this way we can go to my Mom's together and share the news. Then we can go to dinner."

Nathan smiled, "Okay, that sounds great. Are you sure you want to watch a bunch of punk-ass teens throw a ball through a hoop for an hour though? You can stay in here and read or something."

"I'd much rather watch you get all hot and bothered." Haley whispered, teasingly licking her lips.

"I like the way you think Ms. James."

Nathan ended practice early, so now he and Haley were on their way to her parent's house.

"I'm nervous." He revealed, pulling up in front of the James' home.

"Why? My parents love you. They're going to be thrilled that I'm finally settling down."

"Well, I didn't exactly ask for permission."

"You don't need it. You asked Jackson and that's all that mattered. Thank you for that, by the way. You know you're both of my favorite men."

Nathan smiled, "I love you."

"I love you, too. Now come on, I know they're going to be so excited!" She exclaimed, hopping out of the car and racing towards the front door. Nathan laughed as he quickly trailed behind. Before he knew it, Haley was in the house shouting.

"Mom! Dad! Jackson!"

"What is it honey?" Lydia came walking in from the kitchen, with Jackson only a few steps behind.

Haley grabbed Nathan, as they stood next to each other with beaming smiles.

"We're getting married!"

"Oh my Gosh! Bub, that's amazing! I'm so happy for you too. Come here!" Lydia exclaimed, with happy tears streaming down her cheeks. She threw her arms around the couple, hugging them tightly.

"Let me see the ring!" She gushed, pulling away and grabbing her daughter's hand, gasping in the process. "Oh wow, Nathan, this is beautiful!"

"I can't take all the credit. I had some help." He fist bumped Jackson who was donning and equally proud grin.

"I knew she'd say yes!" Jackson smiled. "I'm happy, Mommy."

Haley bent down and lifted her son in her arms, "Thank you, buddy. You and Nathan make me the happiest girl alive."

Nathan and Haley shared a brief kiss. "Come on! Let's go dinner and celebrate."
