Jack growled angrily as she yanked her foot out of another sopping wet pile of mud. She could only scowl and jog carefully to try and catch up to Shepard. The woman's face was blank, only a slight and barely noticeable gleam of unfiltered determination could be seen in her eyes.
Garrus was lagging behind by only a little bit, but he was giving the Commander her space. Jack felt it would be wise to do so as well. Shepard sighed from up ahead and pulled something out of her armor. It was a small chain and a charm at the end of it secured in a small silver clasp.
Kolyat said he had found it when he had gone through his father's things. The words on the back were in Drell characters but Kolyat had found the time to awkwardly translate it.
To my Siha,
You never gave up on me. I will wait and share my love from across the sea. I love you…Shepard.
Kolyat had told her that the small foreign stone was something his father had wanted to give her and that the gesture was something akin to a marriage proposal.
This was practically the Drell equivalent to an engagement ring.
Shepard dropped it back onto her armor and continued on the path towards the Climate Dome. Kolyat was coming down with the early stages of Kepral's Syndrome.
She'd already lost Thane and she refused to let him down and let Kolyat succumb to the same affects.
"Don't worry Thane." She whispered, "I've got him."
It wouldn't be long until she would get to the Climate Dome and get the new treatment options for Kolyat. Shepard was many things, but most of all she was a stubborn lass.
Boy was she a stubborn lass.
