Chapter 38:
Breathe, just breathe. You can do this, Jane, you've done so much already. C'mon breathe, inhale, exhale. Calm down calm down calm down...
"Jane?"
She whirled around to the voice, nearly knocking a chair over. "Mina!"
"Are you alright?"
She tried not to let her face betray her inner struggle. "Totally fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Just a little nervous...very nervous."
Mina smiled and went to her best friend. She wrapped her arms around her in a tight hug. "You look beautiful, Thor will love this."
She really did look beautiful. Her wedding dress was an off-color white that hung off her shoulders and down to the floor. It was so long that it left a small train behind her and only the tops of her shoulders and her neck were exposed, her hair swept up into a loose bun. Wilhelmina couldn't be more proud of her.
Jane reluctantly pulled away to get a good look at her. "You look pretty great yourself. You sure you're going to be at the wedding?"
"Of course! Why would you say that?"
"When Loki sees you he's going to carry you out of the room and give Alrik a sibling."
Mina blushed and smacked Jane's arm.

He was getting married tonight. He kept saying it in his mind, waiting for a physical response other than excitement. He wasn't nervous, Thor knew he was making the right decision, that he had chosen the right woman to marry. He already considered her his queen.
Still, he hated not being able to give her the ceremony she deserved. He wanted to give her a wedding where everyone in the realm could look upon her and truly see who she was. But he was forced to marry her deep within the castle, out of sight of the people...and the Allfather. He pushed the thought aside and turned to his brother, who was struggling to hold onto his fidgety nephew.
"Set him down, Loki. He'll be fine."
The younger man scoffed at him. "You would not say that if you saw the disarray my chambers is in."
"He's curious, much like you were when we were younger."
Loki sighed and gently set his son down on the floor. He watched as Alrik hurriedly crawled away from him. He spoke to Thor without taking his eyes off his baby. "We should go, don't want to keep your mortal waiting."
"She won't be mortal for much longer."
They both looked to the doors when they suddenly opened, and Loki sighed again when Dagmar walked in. He had nothing against Wilhelmina's young sister, he just found her incredibly annoying. He was grateful he did not have any sisters...that he knew of.
Thor smiled at the girl. "Hello Dagmar."
She bowed her head politely, her long blond hair falling over her shoulders. "My king."
"You don't have to call me that, we're family."
That brought a brilliant smile to her face, one that Loki noticed looked exactly like her sisters. "Okay! Hi Loki...where's Alrik?"
His eyes widened and he frantically searched for the boy. He knew better than to take his eyes off him, even for a few minutes. He was relieved when his brother bent to pull Alrik from underneath a table and Dagmar took the baby into her arms, squeezing him while nuzzling the soft skin at his neck. The baby laughed and Loki caught himself smiling at them.
"I appreciate you coming to look after him."
She was covering him in kisses now. "I always want to see him. He's adorable!"
"You can thank me for that."
Thor snorted. "I never thought of you as adorable, brother."
Loki glared at him. "I've grown into my looks, but we're all still waiting for your brain to catch up with your brawn."
"Is that how you speak to your king?"
Loki laughed. "You were my brother first, and I will always address you as such."
Thor was stunned to hear those words coming from him, though he was happy to hear it. His reaction was not lost on Loki, who quickly waved off the fact that his big brother was clearly touched by his words.
"We must go before Jane rightfully changes her mind about you." Then he left the room with Dagmar and Alrik following close behind.
He really knew how to ruin a moment.

In the cavernous expanses of Odin's castle, people were sneaking about. It was late enough that the guards had begun to lose themselves in their own thoughts and paid little attention to their surroundings besides any obvious threat that never came. The hurried, yet quiet footsteps of Sif, Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun went unnoticed as they traversed hidden passages to get to the venue of their king's wedding.
It was being held several floors below the main one, in a large oval room with cold stone walls and high arching ceilings. The room had been furnished with a few chairs and tables, and flowers were brought in with the hopes of bringing some life to the stone columns and walls. A red carpet was put down and lights were lit as everyone filed in and noise filled the room.
But silence fell quickly when Frigga arrived. She walked right in as if she were always meant to be there. She smiled at her sons before quietly taking her place amongst the guests. She would not miss this, regardless of her husband's stubbornness.
Then it was time to begin, and the brothers stood together waiting for Jane to arrive with Mina. When the women finally appeared at the archway entrance, both men stood stunned. Thor was proud to see Jane looking so regal but Loki immediately recognized the dress Mina wore. It was the same one he had gifted her all that time ago, the same pale green with the emerald jewel. It was the dress she wore when he had truly fallen for her, the dress she wore when he kissed her for the first time. He was speechless and, oddly enough, turned on.
The women had only taken a few steps in before Jane suddenly stopped. She still looked forward, but not at Thor. Her eyes were fixed on the canopy above him. It was a large white sheet that had been stretched out to sit atop four wooden poles. Yellow and red flowers were tied and draped from the canopy, the petals creating a carpet of color beneath her fiancée's feet. It was magnificent and Jane trained her voice not to shake when she spoke.
"Is that a chuppah?"
Mina smiled and whispered to her. "A wedding gift from Frigga."
She couldn't hold back her tears now. "How did she know?"
"I told her about the pictures you loved from your mother's wedding, how you had wanted the same canopy at your ceremony."
Jane looked for Frigga amongst the faces in the room. When she found the matriarch she mouthed her thanks to her, and Frigga smiled before nodding her head towards Thor.
Jane brushed the tears from her face and rushed to stand before Thor and the elder that would marry them. Loki and Mina stood across from each other, and as his brother exchanged vows with his sister-in-law, Loki took the opportunity to peak at Mina. He couldn't believe she still had the dress; it looked just as lovely on her now as it did then. She caught him staring at her and gave him a sly smile and a wink that made him hot in his clothes. Gods he loved that woman...
It was a short but satisfying wedding. And the rest of the night was spent drinking, eating, and dancing. Dagmar chased Alrik around the room and Volstagg cleared out most of the food himself. Even Hogun laughed and found someone to dance with. In that room, it was as if war wasn't eminent, as if everything was just as it should be.
Loki was leading Wilhelmina on the dance floor and to her amazement, he was doing exceptionally well.
"I didn't know you could dance."
"I'm a prince, of course I can dance."
"Just when I think I know you, you do something to surprise me."
He smiled and twirled her around before pulling her back in close. He whispered in her ear, making her shiver.
"We're leaving."
"What?"
"Just for a short while...there's something I need to do."
He took her hand and quickly led her off the dance floor and out of the room. No one noticed them exiting and heading into one of the tunnels. Mina allowed herself to be pulled down a dark tunnel until they arrived in a room almost identical to the one they had just left, but this one was completely empty.
"What are we doing here?"
He said nothing but looked down at her, his eyes scanning her figure as if deciding what he wanted to do. It was the predatory look that never failed to make her nervous.
"Loki?"
"You're beautiful. I should have told you that the first time you wore this dress."
Suddenly her back was pressed against the wall and she gasped when her skin met the cold stone.
"And now I get to do whatever I want to you." He brought his lips to the spot right below her ear and trailed kisses down her body till he rested on his knees before her, not caring that the floor was filthy.
Mina stayed put as she looked down at him. Her breath hitched when he reached beneath her dress and pulled down her undergarments. He lifted one of her legs and slipped them off one ankle, but he didn't release her. Instead, he lifted her leg higher to rest on his shoulder. His eyes flicked up to her once before he lowered his head to kiss her wet folds.
Mina's hands shot to his hair as his tongue ran over her entrance, his deep moan nearly causing her to lose her footing.
When his tongue found her sensitive nub she cried out, her voice echoing off the walls. Loki worked her until she came, bucking her hips against his face. He moaned again before he stood to his feet, forcing Mina to support herself on shaky legs.
"Turn around." His voice was husky with lust.
She obeyed and pressed her chest to the wall. She felt him move closer and gently tap one of her legs with his foot. She obediently spread her legs apart for him. She screamed again when her dress was thrown up around her waist and he thrust into her, bruising her hips as he griped her tightly.
He was moaning loudly, thoroughly enjoying making love to his woman in this secret place. He felt her walls convulse around him as she came for a second time, milking his cock until he spilled himself deep inside her.
Her whole body shook now, and he pushed her hair to the side and kissed the back of her neck before pulling out and letting her dress fall back around her ankles.
They returned to the party, mostly unnoticed. Frigga shot Loki a disapproving look while Jane shook her head at the couple. She knew them all too well.

Thor woke the next morning slightly hungover. He sat up with a groan and ran his hand through his hair. When his wedding band snagged in his tangled locks he smiled, remembering his wedding night. He looked over at his sleeping wife and his smile faded. He would have to confront his father today, and it would be best to get it over with before Jane woke.
He quietly got out of bed and searched for his clothes amongst the ones scattered on the floor. He straightened himself out before leaving the room and walking to the wing of the castle that held the personal chambers of his parents. He knocked before entering, finding his father writing at a massive desk. Thor approached him, stopping right at the edge of the table. Odin did not look up from his work.
"Good morning, son."
"Morning, father."
"I am surprised too see you here so soon. I assumed you would want to spend the next few days with your bride."
Thor remained silent.
"Your mother thought the ceremony was wonderful, Jane enjoyed her gift...shame I was unable to attend." Odin finally looked up as Thor continued to stand quietly. "What are your plans now?"
"What do you mean?"
"Have you discussed how she will address the people? I'm sure many will be curious about how she intends to lead them."
"We are not certain what her role will be these next few months or however long it takes Thanos to engage."
"I see."
After a time, Thor walked around the table to stand beside Odin's chair. "Father, you know why I am here."
Odin sighed heavily and sat back in his chair. "You seek to immortalize your wife."
"Yes, I need access to the tree."
He spoke as he slowly stood from his chair. "And you think, that because you are now king, I will extend favor onto Jane and gift her with immortality?"
"Yes, I do."
"Well you're wrong."
"What!?"
"I will repeat what I have told you a dozen times: Jane cannot become Aesir until she proves herself worthy!"
This was insane. The old man had lost his mind. "I chose her! Is that not enough!?"
"No!"
He was afraid this would happen, but he would not give up. She would never survive on Asgard as a mortal, at least not as long as he would, and Thor had no intentions on remarrying anytime soon. He reigned in his anger, ready to face whatever trial put before them.
"What does she have to do?"
