The demon set Rose down on the bed, quickly letting go and moving to grab the ever familiar red box. He'd created a secondary red box to leave in his room until he was to move the young miss into a more fitting room.
She was still looking down, most likely attempting to grasp what was going on in the world around her at the moment. He knelt down in front of her, set the box beside her, and looked up at the young miss. She didn't look back for a while before catching his stare.
"Is everything alright, Miss Rose?" His voice was quiet and calm.
She reached out and pulled him closer again, burying her face in his tailcoat. "Why didn't you eat him?"
"You didn't want me to."
"So?"
He placed a hand on either side of her face, cradling it gently. The look of confusion was overwhelmed by the look of comfort in her eyes. "Miss Rose, your happiness is all I care about."
"But-"
"But nothing. You are my master now." He smiled softly at her. "Your happiness is all that matters."
The demon allowed a while for it to sink in. In the meantime, he meticulously took care of her wounds with a practiced hand. It was over an hour before Sebastian heard anything come from her.
She picked her head up to watch him move around the room. "I didn't… make a deal with you, though." The blanket around her was pulled tighter. "Who's did you take?"
He took his place in front of her, kneeling with his head down. "Your guardian angel gave his soul so that I would always protect and care for you."
"Why would…?"
Sebastian grabbed her hand to hold it gently. "I think it would be best that you get some more rest, my lady."
She quietly complied by curling up on her side and pulling the sheets closer around her, effectively bundling her small body up. He placed another on her. As he was turning around, a small, fragile hand grabbed Sebastian's. He could feel the shaking and the tremors easily.
"Sebastian?"
"Yes?"
"Will you… stay?" She didn't look up at him. "Please?"
"If that is what you wish."
She paused a moment. "...it is."
He smiled and pulled her close. He slowly sat down onto the bed, enveloping the small frame in a firm hold. The trembling in Rose slowly stopped.
"Sebastian?"
He looked down at her. "Yes?"
"What's going to happen after this?"
His hand idly moved down to run his fingers gently through her hair. "Whatever you wish."
"Whatever I.. wish?" She caught his eyes with hers. "What does this mean for the young master?"
"He is no longer of-"
"He is part of my concern! You want to eat him." The young miss cried out, sitting up and backing away a bit. She was caught in his arm, his grip firm. "I don't want you to eat him!"
Humans were cruel, uncaring creatures. They fought each other for piddly things. They put others on pedestals. Humans had no remorse for destroying those who opposed them; finding a thin line to blur to refer to as 'good' or 'bad'.
And yet there was this small human, begging to save the life of another human. It was so… so much more different than what he had come across in his several masters.
The demon sighed. "My Rose," He took her chin in a gentle grasp and tilted her face to his, "I know your sentimental attachment to him, but the contract will still bind his soul to me."
She tried to look away.
The seal on the back of his hand, the same one he held her face with, flared and shone with a faded glow. "Miss Rose, I am a demon. I may not eat human food but I still get hungry."
The young miss's eyes flooded with tears.
Sebastian's grip failed him, making him drop his hands to rest on the bed once more. Silence filled the room like blood to an open wound. The demon sat up and sat at the end of the bed, waiting just as quietly. Rose moved to sit on the other side of the bed.
It was what seemed like hours before Sebastian sighed again and cast his eyes towards the seal on his hand. "Would it please you if I waited?"
She nodded.
"Then I suppose I will have no other choice." He looked at her in the gentlest manner he could muster. "I'll wait until he's has an heir. Is that alright?"
If anything, he was surprised when the small frame climbed into his lap and nodded against his shoulder. Sebastian let his arms wrap around her, pulling her ever closer. The young miss pressed herself against him, the trembling having returned. One of his hands begun the ritual of small circles being drawn into her back.
Her arms snaked around his shoulders, holding her upright as Rose dozed off. Surely it had been a trying day already for her. Regardless of it only being an hour at the maximum, the amount of change and new information would never be easy on a person.
"...Sebastian…?"
"Hm?"
"Don't ever leave me…"
"Anything else?"
"Don't lie to me…"
"Is that all?"
Rose nodded a freezing nose into his shoulder.
"Yes, My Rose."
Sebastian slowly laid them down, bundling up her small body in several blankets.
"For now, let's have you rest."
She nodded. Rose was quickly asleep, relaxing completely in his arms.
The one thing that had broken every single of his 'rules' towards humans. A human who would normally never be a part of his contract chain.
And he smiled.
My Rose, after the hell you've been through, I pray this leaves you happy.
