Hey everyone! I'm back! I'm on break now so I will update once a week like before, hopefully.

I do not own magi, and unfortunately, never will :(

Chapter 38: The New Magician

Warmth. It felt so warm.

Alya frowned. Why was it so warm? Shouldn't she be dead? Her frown deepened and she tensed when she began to recall the time she woke up earlier. Thats right. I'm no longer Alya of Alma Torran. I am Alya, sister of Sinbad and servant to Judal.

Alya took a deep breath and opened her eyes only to shut them immediately, releasing a hiss of pain through clenched teeth. Why does my head hurt so much? Taking another breath she allowed herself to relax back into the plush bedding.

Light began dancing at the edge of her mind's eye, making her brows furrow as she followed it to locate the source. Something was fluttering by her door and a moment later the door opened and Alya lay still as she heard shuffling of feet and something being placed on the nightstand beside her before whoever it was left, with a soft click of the door. Alya followed the fluttering light as it went through multiple hallways before entering a room full of other fluttering lights.

What is this? Alya mussed. I've never been able to do this before. She slowly began to expand her range of 'sight,' catching every fluttering light within the palace within her net. She smiled as she began to notice little quirks and differences in the lights of people. Some had much more light. She could also feel familiar Rukh shaped into swords and other metal objects. The metal vessels... Everyone from Alma Torran.

Before she even realized it, she began searching for one person in particular. A magi that she hadn't seen since she had fallen asleep. To her disappointment she couldn't find him, and began expanding her field further into the city. At a point when she felt the Rukh in the ocean, she noticed that her field wasn't expanding anymore and tried to push it only to gasp as the field snapped back in place like rubber. She jolted up in bed, gasping for air as her head felt like it was vibrating from the colliding force of her field. And I thought my headache couldn't get any worse…

Shielding her eyes with a hand, she glanced at the glass of water that must have been left on her table. She gulped it down greedily before observing the rest of the room. It looked the same as the last time she had woken up.

She sighed and layed back in bed, running a hand through her greasy hair. She grimaced at the feeling. I should bathe. But before that…

Why did she have her memories from Alma Torran? This didn't make sense. Besides, she had died. How and why was her soul reincarnated? The one with the answers was probably Ugo. He always had the answers.

Aladdin's face flashed through her mind, making her smile. That boy reminds me so much of Solomon and Shiba.

She shook her head of her thoughts, replacing them with others. And what about my abilities? Even before I had my memories for Alma Torran, I had been showing signs of strange powers. They were so similar to a Magician's… yet they were not.

She looked at her palm. What am I? A few Rukh landed on her fingertips, making her smile. Using her knowledge from Alma Torran, she willed the Rukh to turn to water without using auditory commands.

Though her face and pillow begam soaked, she couldn't help from grinning widely. Seems with my past knowledge, I really can be a Magician. But I need a staff if I want to work with higher level spells. Unless I want to blow myself up…

With a sigh, Alya stood up at about the same time the door to her room opened. She was unsurprised to see Koumei there, having sensed his coming earlier.

"You're awake," he stated, eyeing her.

"I can see that," she retorted boldly, looking him in the eyes. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I really must bathe before I start to grow mold." She walked past the surprised prince, ignoring the pain that shot through her, but she paused. "Where's the bathing area?"

Koumei nodded. "I'll have a servant show you."

She nodded before another question popped up in her mind. "Where's Judal?"

"He left not too long ago, saying that he had something to do," Koumei stated blandly before calling out to a passing servant who hurried over.

Alya hummed to herself in thought as she followed the servant.

"I hope you remember that the Summit will be occurring within a few days. King Sinbad would not be pleased if you did not show up," Koumei called out.

"Of course, I would never forget," Alya nodded back to him before continuing on her way.

Within the privacy of the bath, Alya began undressing only to stop and glance into the mirror image of the water. She ignored the ugly red wound that was almost healed on her abdomen, wishing that the black Rukh she saw dance over it were just her imagination. Her fingers caressed the red gemmed necklace still dangling from her neck.

She removed it with a smile and laid it out flat on the ground. With a smirk, she ran her hands over it while speaking. "Огонь, вода, земля, воздух. Приходите вместе молитву мою." The necklace began to shine. "Из серебра и красного цвета, палочку вместо."

The necklace morphed into a short wand which she picked up and twirled between her fingers. She frowned when she it dropped. "I guess I'm not used to small wands. With a wave of her hand, the wand returned to its necklace form. She smiled and replaced it around her neck, satisfied with her idea of making the spell reversible.

The salty wind blew through Alya's hair as she looked out over the open ocean surrounding her. What was previously Balbad grew smaller and smaller behind her, making her reminiscent of the last time she had set sail from Kou to find her supposed brother in Sindria. This time, Sindria was not her destination.

Author's note: Her chant is in Russian. I needed something that didn't sound like normal speech so that it sounded more… magical. Basicly I made it up on the spot. The first part means "Fire, water, earth, air. Come together for my prayer." The second part is supposed to mean "From silver and red, a wand instead." But I couldn't think of the right word for wand so it says stick...

Also, the black Rukh she saw were kind of like a remanence of what Alya will soon be calling Arba's curse. As for now, you can just assume that it was awakened by Alya's memories of Arba stabbing her. It kind of attached to her soul.

Quick question. What do you think of Alya now? Because of the memories of her past life fighting with her memories now, her personality is going to be a bit wishy washy. She's both the past Alya who is brave and knowledgeable, but also the Alya whose shy and freaks out quickly. Does that make sense?

Now for the comment corner~

ShinigamiReiko: I know I'm evil. ;) I like to mess with my characters. You should see the book i'm writing. I was bored so I tortured and almost killed my favorite character and then let my main character get shot. Yep...

YLCourt: Thank you. My fanfiction stories tend to have very short chapters. Especially when they follow the plot. I don't like to rewrite the whole dialog when you can just as easily see it in the manga (which I recommend). Which is why I tend to make my character zone out or have something else catch her attention.

Arekiusu: I have the next few chapters planned out, and unfortunately, Judal does not reappear until the end of chapter 40. Around chapter 42, There may be some kissing scenes though~ :)

Mizuhara Yukie- Because Alya was asleep when Judal left (and because Judal probably wouldn't want to drag her into this) she is not a part of the revolution. She learns about the possible connection between Gyokuen and Arba at about the same time that she hears that Gyokuen is dead. And she doesn't mind at all (you will see soon~). If she had been given the chance, she probably would have helped.

Introverted Geek Girl: I'm very happy to hear that! When I look back at my first few chapters of any fanfiction I always feel as if I started it out less than satisfactory. But at this point, theres no way of changing it (as far as I can see) without changing the rest of the story.

And thank you to everyone else that commented! Your comments are what keep me writing fanfictions!
