"This is Millie Ashford, reporting live from Bay Harbor. Today, we've come in remembrance of-"

Suzaku turns off the TV and looks around at the gathering. It has been an entire year to the day from which they had successfully broadcast a signal that drained the Geass out of everyone. The Sword of Akasha had yet to fire, and by C2's and Lelouch's opinions, it would never fire, seeing as the entire realm where the Sword exists is gone.

"It's finally time?" Asks Lelouch.

Suzaku nods. His brows furrow as he riffles around in his bag, eventually drawing out several folders. Each one has the name of an individual printed on it.

"Take the one with your name on it and pass on the rest." Suzaku pulls his own from the pile and hands the stack to Nunnally, who sits to his right.

Lelouch opens his file immediately upon receiving it. Kallen follows suit and they pour through the information.

After a good five minutes to give everyone a chance to read the file, Suzaku clears his throat. All head swivel to his direction. "Now that you've all had the chance to look through-"

"This… You should have asked us what we thought first." Kallen frowns as she looks back down into her file. "I don't like the name Melinda."

Suzaku pinches the bridge of his nose. "It's not up for debate. New identities are hard to forge, and that's the name you were given."

"Doesn't suit me." She grumbles.

C2 smirks. "At least your name isn't Catherine."

"No, that would be slightly better."

Nunnally puts her hand on Suzaku's shoulder. "Don't worry about it, they'll come around."

He nods. "I had to use the last vestiges of Zero's power just to get this far. Those are the best covers I could get, and changing them would ruin all that hard work."

Nunnally looks down into her file. She was to become Lucy Itsubura, wife of Ichiya Itsubura. "Lucy is kind of plain name," She comments out loud. "but I like it."

Suzaku smiles wanly. "I just wish none of this was nessecary."

"Me too, but why did you expect? You followed my brother's crazy schemes again." Nunnally drops her head on Suzaku's shoulder. Of course, maybe she should start calling him Ichiya…

Suzaku takes a deep breath. "Alright, we all have around twenty four hours until our flights leave, give or take a few for different flights. In that time, we need to practice our new identities until we have them completely down. None of us are going to leave this room. The people that leave this room are going to be entirely different people that didn't exist until today."

Kallen fiddles with her folder. Lelouch notices this and places a gentle hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong?"

Kallen shakes her head. "Nothing. I'm just thinking about all our old friends that we're leaving behind."

"It's better this way." Lelouch says comfortingly. "Otherwise, they would need new identities as well."

"Yeah…" Kallen falls silent.

Rivalz, Millie and most of the rest of the Black Assassin's crew had managed to avoid arrest by claiming to be assisting out of duress. It helped that none of them were included in the final raid except as captives.

The official story ended up placing Gregor as a secret intelligence operative sent to take down Lelouch and the Black Assassins. He, quite tragically, died while killing Lelouch after routing the rest of his crew. Only his lieutenants had evaded capture, those being Suzaku, Nunnally, C2, and Kallen.

Rakshata was pardoned as she had actively resisted Lelouch's efforts to the end- at least as far as all but a select few knew.

The doctor and the others that had assisted with the creation and execution of the pulse that wiped out the Geass had all been offered new identities by Suzaku, but since none of them felt they were high profile enough, they decided to go back to their own lives.

Suzaku had secretly checked up and almost all of them were doing just fine.

Millie, as evidenced by the TV, had got her job back. Funnily enough, enough people liked her broadcast that nobody even considered her as a traitor.

"I'm supposed to be Kallen's sister?" C2 says amusedly. "That's going to be fun."

"I don't see anything about you two in my file." Lelouch says calmly, looking at Suzaku and Nunnally. "I'm guessing that means we won't be in communication?"

Suzaku nods grimly. "The more we stay grouped up, the more likely it is for someone to figure out who we are. I managed to find a way to hide us in only two groups, but we can't contact each other."

He leans down and sets a box on top of the table. Inside are all manner of assorted phones and accessories. "We all need new phones and other personal items. Each of these phones are currently deactivated for the moment. Everybody take one, and we'll sort out numbers once we're separated."

Kallen notices just how bad the bags under Suzaku's eyes are. "Suzaku, you really worked hard to pull this together. Thanks a bunch."

Suzaku lowers his head. "I'm really sorry it ended like this."

"Yeah."

An awkward silence descends on the five of them.

"Well… We should probably talk about things, while we still have time." Nunnally says brightly, forcing a smile onto her face.

Kallen lifts up her folder. "I'm guessing you hand in the preparation of these, huh?"

Nunnally blushes and nods. "I tried to change as little as possible without making us too recognizable."

"No, not that." Kallen sighs.

"Ow."

Everyone looks over to see C2 looking at her finger with wide eyes. Ten she blinks and smiles. "I keep forgetting I'm not invincible."

Lelouch smirks. "I'm still hitting growth spurts at 30. It's unbearable."

C2 narrows her eyes. "I was fifteen when I became immortal. I still have a bit of growing to do, after 1000 years." She crosses her arms and smirks.

Lelouch rolls his eyes. Kallen looks at her… well, looks at Lelouch and allows herself a small smile. Lelouch had become a lot less wound up in the past year, having absolutely nothing to worry about.

Well, he had worried about their new identities, but since Kallen had insisted that he "forget the work and worry about the play" he had loosened his controlling personality to the point he could genuinely smile.

Nunnally frowns. "So… Lelouch still looks 18, so what is he considered to be in your group?"

Kallen's cheeks turn bright red. Nunnaally is almost shocked to see Lelouch's cheeks color as well.

"I…" Lelouch begins, but Kallen shakes her head and takes a breath.

"This is going to be embarrassing. He's my husband, ten years younger than me."

C2 falls out of her chair and start laughing. "Oh my god my big sister is a pedophile."

Kallen's face turns to beet red. "It's not my fault he looks so young!"

Lelouch sets his head in his hands. "It's not as bad as it sounds. According to this," He thwacks the folder with the back of his hand "We just met. We made preparations to get married, but they got voided."

C2 drags herself back to a height where her head is visible. "Suzaku, what the hell kind of backstory did you come up with for yourself? Ours are all messed up."

Suzaku shifts uncomfortably. "I used to be a soldier, not much use hiding that fact. Nunnally was my secretary-"

C2 falls over again. The rest of the table waits for her to get back up.

"Oh god. We should've put on plays while we still had the Black Knights. Can you imagine?"

Kallen shudders as images of Tamaki in a tutu flash through her head. "Let's pretend nobody ever said that."

The tension broken, the five gradually start talking like the friends they are. At five PM, three hours after they had convened, Suzaku announces that they need to get into character.

The practice for the good portion of the night, until even Kallen got the correct name nine times out of ten. Lelouch had been dubbed Clement, something she found amusing.

When it came time to say goodbye, everyone delayed until the last minute. There was a good chance that they would never meet again, as neither group knew the final location of the other. Lelouch holds Nunnally in a tight hug. Kallen and Suzaku exchange a handshake that comes from years of mutual respect. C2 tackles Suzaku and Nunnally.

Finally, it's time to say goodbye. Two taxis arrive and the two group split up.

Kallen watches out the window as the other taxi rounds a corner and disappears from sight.

"I miss them already."

Lelouch sneaks an arm around her shoulders. "Don't worry, we'll know how they're doing."

Kallen blinks. "Huh?"

"You see, I snuck a look at his folder, and Ichiya's just started a career as a politician…"

I would like to thank anyone who managed to make it through this story. I started it a long time ago, at least it seems that way.

I started this back before I knew how to write properly. Since then, I've learned a lot of things, and all my works since this one are better for it. I love Code Geass, and I have a feeling I didn't do it justice. I may go back and edit things with my new knowledge to make it better.

I really hope you enjoyed this, my first endeavor into the world of fanfiction. It's been a ride.
