Weiss Schnee knew that crying never solved anything. She knew it couldn't change what had happened, knew that it couldn't undo what she had suffered, knew that it couldn't save Friedrich. But she didn't care. One minute, she was having the time of her life, spending Valentine's Day with the girl she loved more than anything else in the world. The next, she was lying in a hospital bed, her left leg useless, her head throbbing, and her driver barely hanging onto life.

Her emotions were barely held in check in the presence of her family; they didn't need to see her crying, not when they were so worried about her already. She kept a brave face, trying her best to smile and laugh with them. In those moments, it wasn't about her recovery; it was about alleviating their fears.

But when Yang showed up, those emotions spilled over the dam she had put up. She didn't need to keep up a front for the blonde; Yang would see through it easily anyway. So instead, the walls that the heiress had built up crumbled away, exposing the frightened little girl within. The girl afraid of losing the people she loved.

The blonde simply stayed at her side, saying nary a word as the heiress released her emotions. She didn't need to say anything; just her very presence would be enough. Yang's aura, her radiance, had long been something Weiss found comfort in, especially when things got difficult. Whenever she was feeling down, being near the blonde made the heiress feel better, a medicine that science would never be able to replicate.

Weiss didn't know how long she cried, time having long lost its meaning. She wouldn't have been surprised to see that it was Monday already. But, when the tears finally dried up, the blonde shifted, scooting closer. She squeezed the heiress's hand gently, then wiped away the remaining tears from the heiress's face.

The touch was comforting, but it did bring the heiress's attention to the blonde's eyes. While they were full of love as they normally were, there was a slight distance in them, nearly impossible to notice unless you really looked. Remembering that made the heiress sigh. "How are you feeling?" She asked after a moment.

Yang chuckled softly, a small smile on her face. "I'll be fine." She reassured, her tone light. "Just a little headache, nothing I haven't had before."

Weiss looked down. She knew that, if Yang was truly injured, she'd probably not say anything, not when the heiress herself was hurt. In a way, she was thankful for it, because she really didn't need to be worrying about Yang as well as Friedrich. However, she couldn't help but worry. If Yang was hurt, she didn't need to be protected from it.

The blonde, seeing the conflict in her eyes (of course she did), reached over to lightly massage the heiress's knuckles. "I'm fine, Weiss." She repeated, her voice softer.

Weiss still couldn't shake the feeling that Yang was lying for her sake, but she at least decided to let it go, for now at least. "I know…" She breathed, her voice low. "But it could've been worse." Figures; let go of one negative and another takes its place.

Yang squeezed her hand, moving closer. "You can't blame yourself for this." She spoke quietly, moving her hand up to tuck a lock of hair behind the heiress's ear. "None of this was your fault."

But the heiress had already blamed herself. "It is, though." She countered, her voice hard but defeated. "That car that ran us off the road…I know it was the White Fang." Yang went to speak, but the heiress continued, cutting her off. "I know them, Yang. They've been after my family for decades."

Yang let out a long sigh. "But we don't even know they were the ones behind it." She countered gently, keeping a soft hold on Weiss's hand. "Worrying about it isn't going to change anything."

Weiss sighed. "I know, but how can I not?" She mused in defeat. "Not only do I have to worry about my father, but now there's the White Fang to deal with. How can I just ignore this?"

The blonde gave her a curious look. "Weiss, what are you talking about?"

Yang wasn't privy to her thoughts; the rational part of Weiss knew this. But, the heiress wasn't thinking straight, either from emotions, the concussion, or both, and the question caused her to snap at the blonde. "I could've lost you!"

The blonde's face froze, as if the outburst had rendered her speechless. The words were fearful, a worst-case scenario, and vocalizing it made the emotions held in the heiress spill over, tears Weiss didn't know she had left spilling. "When I was in the car, right after I woke back up…" She started, her voice thick. She swallowed before continuing. "When I woke up and you weren't there, I thought something happened to you."

It was here that the blonde finally reacted, squeezing the heiress's hand. But, before Yang could speak, Weiss was speaking again. "I'm not an idiot. I know that my father would love nothing more than to get rid of you, and that he has the power to do it." A shaky breath. "And if the White Fang ever found out about you, they'd love to use that against me." A heartbeat to take in a breath. "I couldn't live with myself I something happened to you because of me, Yang. I don't want to be the reason you get hurt, or worse…"

The words brought more tears to the heiress's eyes, her emotions running wild once again. Yang, seeing that simple hand-holding wasn't enough, stood up and embraced the heiress, careful to not disturb the IVs and other wires hooked up to the smaller girl. As Weiss broke down again, the blonde spoke, her voice soft and soothing. "I will always be here for you, Weiss. Nothing will stop me. Not your father, not the White Fang, no one."

It was hard to fully believe the blonde, especially with what had just happened. If things went just slightly differently, then Yang might have been the one in a coma.

But she didn't want to vocalize her fears anymore. Yang, bless her heart, was too stubborn to be told no, and that went double when it came to Weiss. So, instead, the heiress simply nodded, trying her best to return the hug.

They remained like this for a few moments before the door opened and her family stepped inside. Yang pulled away, returning to her seat, as Willow gave the heiress a smile. "You're looking better." She pointed out, apparently ignoring the fact that Weiss had been crying not five seconds ago.

The heiress just nodded. "My head still hurts." She said after a moment, her voice low. It was true, and with all the crying and emotion, things hadn't been getting better for it.

Her mother gave her a softer look. "The doctor said you'll probably have to stay overnight."

The blonde nodded. "Yeah, probably to monitor that concussion." She mused.

Weiss allowed an amused frown to grace her face. "Getting sleep like this'll be fun…" She drawled.

Yang smirked, but it was her mother that spoke. "Your father's been informed of what's happened." She continued. Weiss tensed up, but she knew he'd find out eventually. "He is making plans to return to Vale as soon as possible."

Yang sighed. "Well if our weekend wasn't already ruined enough…" She breathed, getting a short chuckle from the heiress.

Amethyst smirked. "Nice to see your sense of humor wasn't injured." She teased.

Weiss huffed. "So I'll probably have father hanging over me for the next few days." She said unenthusiastically. "It was fun while it lasted."

Winter chuckled. "Hey, look on the bright side." She started, the heiress giving her a curious look. What kind of 'bright side' was there? "At least he'll probably forget about you blowing Fade off."

The heiress rolled her eyes. "It's not 'blowing him off' if he does it too." She reminded with a small laugh.

The blonde chuckled. "You know, I'm not sure I like the way that sounded." She pointed out, her eyes tracing over the heiress quickly.

The reactions around the room ranged from amusement with Winter and Amethyst, a silent groan from Willow, and a fierce blush from the heiress. Did she really just do that in front of her mother!? Even worse, the blonde checking her out brought back memories of just a few hours ago, in Yang's bedroom. "Have you no sense of shame?" The heiress reprimanded, her voice hard but wavering at the memories brought unbidden by the blonde's words.

Said blonde simply shrugged, leaning back. "Never tried." She countered easily.

Less than half a beat went by before Winter chuckled. "I'm not sure if that's too much information, or not enough." She teased after a moment.

It looked like Yang was about to say something, and from the amused smirk she wore, it was probably going to be indecent. So, the heiress cut her off. "That is none of your business." She countered, her voice flat and pointed.

The younger sibling smirked. "Duh, that's why I'm asking." She then turned to Yang, as if knowing that the blonde would give her the answer she'd want.

Weiss was about to cut in again when her mother spoke. "Alright…" The way she held the word made it clear that she was not going to allow the conversation to become what it was about to. Winter shrunk slightly, but remained amused. Yang wore her smirk as always, conceding to the mother's desire.

After a few moments, Willow nodded. "I'm going to see if they have something to eat." She announced, giving the heiress a knowing look. "You're probably famished."

Weiss hadn't thought about it, but the offer of food made her aware of the discomfort growing in her stomach. "I am." She confirmed simply.

Her mother nodded, then turned to the blonde. "Yang, dear, would you mind accompanying me? I'm sure you could use some food, too." She added, her voice taking on a parental tone that Weiss hadn't heard from her in a while. One that left only one answer.

The blonde let out a breath. "Yeah, I could go for something to eat." She said, apparently not trying to argue. She stood up, leaning over to kiss the heiress on the forehead. "See ya in a bit."

The heiress nodded. "I love you." She said in departure, the blonde smiling softly. Yang joined Willow, and the two departed with little addition fanfare.

After a few moments, Amethyst turned to the heiress. "Winter tells me you two've been together for a while now." She spoke softly.

The heiress nodded. "Since Halloween." She clarified, a small smile forming on her face.

Amethyst nodded. "She seems like a nice girl." She continued. "And it's obvious that she cares deeply about you."

The words brought a small blush to Weiss's face, but her smile didn't falter. "She does."

Winter grew a small smirk. "I don't think I've ever seen you this smitten before." She teased, the blush on Weiss's face growing darker.

The purple-haired woman chuckled softly. "Well, I've heard you've been much more relaxed since meeting Yang." She added after a moment.

The younger sister nodded in agreement. "Yeah, she doesn't yell as much." A small smirk. "Well, she still yells with dad all the time, but she's been doing that for years."

Weiss rolled her eyes at her sister's remark. "I'm sorry if I think I should be allowed to love who I want." She droned, a small smirk on her face. "If my father can't handle that, then too bad."

To that, Amethyst nodded. "He has gotten more…overzealous in the last few months." A soft sigh. "You know I don't exactly share his ideals. I've only ever wanted to see you two girls happy."

Weiss lowered her head, shutting her eyes for a moment. "Yang has made me that happiest I've been in my entire life." She breathed, the words bringing to her mind's eye the last three months. It had felt like Weiss had been with Yang her entire life, not three short months. But she wouldn't trade those months for anything else in the world.

After a moment, the heiress's sister let out a sigh. "So, you think mother's gonna try to scare her?" She asked in amusement.

Weiss chuckled, but kept her eyes closed. "Doubtful. She's known about Yang for all this time. She probably just wants to know more about us." She suggested, sharing Winter's amusement.

Amethyst chuckled. "Willow can be a bit…playful, though." She said, equally amused. "I wouldn't be surprised if she tried to have a little fun with her." A knowing smirk formed on her face. "Especially after that."

Weiss couldn't completely hide the blush that formed, a small smile forming on her face in reply. "Yang'll probably just play right back."

Had this been a normal situation, Yang would probably feel perfectly fine talking with Weiss's mother. Willow looked almost exactly like Weiss; there was no denying that they were related. She was just a little taller than the heiress, her hair shorter than Weiss's but still longer than most. And her eyes were nearly the same color as the heiress, if only slightly more green.

But this wasn't exactly a normal situation. Hospitals were rarely a preferred location for a first meeting, especially after something as serious as what had happened. That on its own was enough to make the blonde feel a bit apprehensive about her coming talk with Willow.

Making a crude remark towards Weiss probably didn't help, either.

As the two made their way down the hall, following signage to the cafeteria, the blonde finally decided to speak. "So, I'm guessing you didn't ask me to come with you because you think I'm hungry." She began, keeping her voice casual but careful. She didn't want to mess this up.

Willow let out a small humming sigh. "Well, I did tell you that our talk could wait, didn't I?" She countered, her voice somewhat amused. "Besides, I'm sure you could use some food yourself." She added, nodding to the blonde. As if to confirm the statement, Yang stomach let out a fairly loud growl; no food since lunch (and school lunches were rarely filling) had left her body ready to revolt. "Call it mother's intuition."

Yang let out a heavy breath, her lips popping silently at the action. "Alright, what do you want to know?" She continued, cutting straight to the chase. She didn't see Weiss's mother as a woman who would dance around an issue. Another thing she'd have in common with Weiss.

The white-haired woman smirked as they rounded a corner, the cafeteria somewhere down this hallway. "Well, I think I'll start with what that was all about."

The blonde smiled smally. "Yeah, probably shouldn't have said that." She conceded, rubbing the back of her head sheepishly. "Sorry about that."

Willow chuckled in reply. "I never asked for an apology." She amended, her voice light. Yang gave her a curious look. "But is there something you should be apologizing for?" Her voice lowered in amusement with the words.

The question made the blonde tense up slightly. She and Weiss had been moments away from having sex. If Ruby hadn't been a total airhead and forgotten her gift for Blake, they would've gone through with it.

But nothing had happened, at least in the vein that Willow was asking. Yes, the couple knew that they were comfortable enough to proceed to that part of their relationship, but that was it. "No, ma'am." She answered quietly, her voice a bit meeker than usual.

The older woman nodded, a small smirk on her face. "Is that all?" She pressed, her voice still light. If she was against what had been implied, she was hiding it expertly.

But that didn't mean Yang was going to confirm it. Other than the fact that what had happened should've been private (Blake and Ruby probably weren't going to say anything, but still), it would be completely awkward talking about her and Weiss's (admittedly non-existent) sex life to Weiss's mother.

However, the mother didn't wait for a reply, a soft chuckle leaving her lips. "Well, I guess if something did happen, I'd be the last one you'd tell." She mused, pulling open the door to the cafeteria.

The blonde wasn't expecting that kind of answer, a soft blush on her face. "Huh, I guess so." She quipped, her voice low as she followed Willow into the cafeteria.

As they got into the short line, the mother smiled. "I would take it that the two of you are close, then." She announced quietly, nodding once at the blonde.

Yang returned it. "I like to think so." She answered simply, a small teasing tone entering her voice.

The white-haired woman let out an amused breath. "No need to be so shy about it." She countered easily. "It's been a while since I've seen my daughter so happy. I can only assume that it's been because of you."

Hearing that made Yang slightly embarrassed, another blush forming on her cheeks. Yes, she knew that Weiss had changed for the better in the last few months, but to know that she had changed so much, and so noticeably, made the blonde's heart swell in her chest. "I try to treat her right." She answered sheepishly.

Willow chuckled. "You mean like a princess?" She inquired knowingly. The blonde nodded once. "Good." She said with a smile. "Weiss would never say it, but she enjoys being doted over like that. She may have her father's pride, but she is my daughter."

Yang nodded once as they reached the counter to place their order. The blonde ordered a simple sandwich, while Willow got Weiss a salad. While they were waiting, the blonde turned to the older woman. "I don't want to sound cynical, but is there a reason you're asking me all of this?" She asked as they sat down.

The older woman paused a moment before sighing. "Weiss's father will be returning to Vale, either tonight or early tomorrow morning." She started, her voice more serious than before. "When he comes back, I want you there."

Yang frowned somewhat, but not at the woman. "I don't think that'll go over well." She informed simply. "Our last meeting wasn't exactly under the best terms."

Willow nodded. "Yes, I know." She continued. "But that was because he has yet to see the two of you together." A small smile. "My husband is many things, not all of them good. But, deep down, he does care about Weiss. Her happiness is important to him; he just goes about it the wrong way."

Yang gave the woman a slightly hard look. "What's he's put her through doesn't sound like love, ma'am." She stated flatly. "You don't actively try to control the ones you love."

The mother let out a hard sigh, sitting back in a chair. "I don't disagree with that." She started softly. "He wants to ensure that his company will succeed when he lets it go." A small smile. "Have you ever given thought to the idea of being involved in the company?" She asked with slight amusement.

The blonde paused, giving the woman a slightly confused look. "What are you talking about?" She questioned.

Willow's smile grew more amused. "Let us assume that you and Weiss end up getting married in the future." She started; Yang felt her cheeks growing hot at the assumption. "Do you have any experience running a business?"

Yang let out a breath. "No." She answered simply. "But I don't see what that has to do with anything." She added immediately.

The mother chuckled softly. "It has everything to do with Weiss's father." She explained. "He has extremely high standards, and he wants whoever Weiss marries in the future to have that experience. It's why he has only been looking at businessmen's sons, and only the ones that are in line to take over their fathers' companies."

Their food was brought to them as Willow finished her sentence, the two nodding in thanks to the waiter before standing up. As they did, the mother gave Yang a knowing look. "I like you, Yang. From what I've heard, you have been perhaps the best thing to happen to Weiss in her entire life." Again, hearing such praise from the heiress's mother made the blonde slightly embarrassed, a soft blush reaching her face.

As the two began out of the cafeteria and back to the hospital room, Willow spoke again. "Weiss's birthday is in a few weeks." She said suddenly. "I think you should be there."

Yang let out a sigh. "What, and surprise her father?" She asked, almost sarcastically.

The older woman nodded once. "Yes. You have to be relentless when it comes to Weiss's father. If you don't, he will destroy you." A hard sigh. "Trust me; I've seen it."

The blonde didn't doubt that, but she didn't know exactly how to go about doing that. "How?" She asked as they rounded the first corner. "I mean, I'd love nothing more than to go, but how am I supposed to be relentless against a man like that?"

Willow smiled. "Do you think you'll be doing this alone?" She asked rhetorically. "Weiss knows how her father can be. Besides, do you really think I'll be doing nothing?" A short chuckle.

To that, the blonde sighed. She had long dreamed about the day that she could stand up to Weiss's father and not worry about the heiress's safety. She knew anything she did would simply make the man angry, and he'd take that anger out on Weiss. If she could spare her from that, she would, even at the cost of their relationship if it came to it.

But right now, she didn't have to worry about that. The only thing she had to worry about would be Weiss. And that was something Yang didn't mind worrying about.

The pair was nearing Weiss's room when Yang noticed a familiar mop of black hair standing outside of the heiress's room. Upon sight of the newcomers, Willow hummed. "Friends?" She asked knowingly.

The blonde nodded once. "Yeah." She answered simply, making a motion to grab the other couple's attention.

Upon the sight of the blonde, Ruby sighed. "They said we couldn't go in until we got approval from Weiss." She said flatly, nodding in the direction of the nurses' counter not too far away. "How's she doing?"

Yang let out a long breath. "She's doing about as well as expected." She responded simply. "But why are you standing out here? Weiss wouldn't mind you two going in." She added after a moment.

Blake shrugged. "They've been watching us." She answered evenly, thumbing to the nurses. "They're probably thinking that there's no way we could be friends with her." A hard breath.

Yang nodded in understanding. "Well, given what happened, I don't blame them, honestly." She said carefully. "They're probably only letting family in without pre-approval."

Ruby made a motion like she was going to agree, but then she turned to the blonde. "So how'd you manage it, then?" She asked, her eyes narrowing. "Unless something else happened earlier that you haven't told us."

The blonde didn't know exactly how to answer that, for many reasons. One of them being that there wasn't anything to say, especially not to Ruby of all people. But another was the way that Ruby said it; it was a tone more likely to come from Yang's mouth, not her younger sister's.

Lilac eyes narrowed at the younger sister, Yang ready to give her sister a mild scolding, when an amused chuckle sounded from behind her. "Is that so?" Willow asked, her voice taking on a teasing parental tone. "You told me nothing happened." The words were no doubt directed at the blonde.

Yang froze immediately, a long breath leaving her lips. "I…we…you see…" If she wasn't so worried about what Weiss's mother might do to her, she'd probably find her own stuttering amusing.

Ruby apparently realized that she said something she probably shouldn't have, shrinking behind Blake almost immediately. The faunus didn't share her girlfriend's guilt; she was trying not to burst out into laughter.

Willow chuckled again. "Well, I guess it's probably for the better that I don't know." She conceded, before she stepped towards the doorway. "I'll let Weiss know you two are here." She added before stepping into the room.

As the woman disappeared, the faunus finally let out the laugh she was trying to contain. Yang frowned. "Hey, that's not funny!" She half-whined, her voice hovering between annoyance and stress.

Blake shook her head. "Yes it is." She said between giggles. "You should've seen your face. Oh, why didn't I take a picture?" She mused to herself.

Ruby gave the faunus a light slap on the shoulder. "Stop teasing her." She scolded lightly, giving the dark-haired girl a quick, accusing look. She then turned to Yang. "Sorry about that."

The blonde waved it off. "Eh, it's alright." She dismissed easily. "She's actually pretty cool."

Ruby nodded just as the door opened again. "Alright, c'mon in." Willow said simply, motioning for the three to step inside. Yang let the other two enter first, bringing up the rear.

As soon as Ruby saw the other girl, she made a move to rush her, but Blake thankfully had the presence to hold the younger girl's shoulder. Instead, Ruby simply walked to Weiss's side. "Are you alright?" She asked worriedly.

The heiress nodded once, trying her best to shift into a seated position. Yang maneuvered to her other side as Weiss answered. "I'm fine, just a bit sore." She assured.

Blake chuckled softly. "You look like you've been through hell." She teased quietly, getting a hard look from the heiress. "Haven't lost you bite, I see."

Weiss tried not to make a remark, but after a moment, a small smile graced her face. "Good to see you too, Blake." She breathed, opening the Styrofoam tray her salad had come in.

As she did, Willow nodded. "So, Weiss, are you going to introduce us?" She asked with a knowing parental tone.

It was only then that Yang saw Winter and Amethyst still in the room; with the two newcomers, the small room was starting to feel cramped. The heiress paused, as if she had forgotten something important, before sighing. "Mother, this is Ruby," She motioned to the younger girl; Ruby nodded once. "And her girlfriend, Blake." Blake nodded as well.

Willow returned the two girl's nods as the heiress continued. "Ruby, Blake, this is my family; my mother," Motioning to Willow. "My sister Winter," Nodding in Winter's direction; the sister nodded as well. "And my aunt Amethyst." The lavender-haired woman nodded at her name.

A few moments went by in silence before the mother spoke. "So you're the same Ruby that my daughter's been tutoring since last year?" She questioned, her tone curious but knowing.

The rosen girl nodded once, a small smile on her face. "Yes, ma'am. She's helped me out a whole bunch" She replied earnestly, getting a small eye-roll from the heiress. "But, I try to help her out, too. Where I can, at least." She added in amusement.

Willow smirked. "Knowing my daughter, it probably had something to do with Yang, correct?" She continued her questioning, amusement in her voice.

Ruby nodded again, a wide smile on her face. The mother smiled back. "Well, that's good. My daughter can be a bit stubborn at times." A nod in Weiss's direction. "It's one of the few things she's inherited from her father."

The heiress groaned. "Mother, do we really have to talk about this now?" She half-pleaded, waiting for the woman to concede before turning to Yang. "So, what did you two talk about?" She asked, slight curiosity in her voice.

The blonde shrugged, a small smile on her face. "Us, mostly." She answered honestly. She then moved a bit closer, her voice lower so that only Weiss (and Blake, since she heard everything) would hear. "And I think she thinks something happened earlier."

The words made the heiress blush slightly, either in embarrassment, worry, or something else. "O-oh, I see." She stuttered. Blake chuckled softly from where she sat, obviously having heard what Yang had said.

Winter also chuckled, hers more open. "So, either you've got no shame," She pointed towards the blonde. "Or you're more innocent than I originally thought."

Blake smirked. "The first one, at least." She answered for the blonde.

Yang made no attempt at correcting the statement, but Weiss huffed. "I think I liked you better when you didn't talk to me as much." She countered, her voice light.

The younger Schnee shrugged. "Yeah, but that's not in a little sister's job description." She re-countered, her voice easy.

To that, Ruby put her hand up. "Yeah!" She agreed, getting an approving nod from Winter.

The blonde groaned. "One of you is bad enough, I don't need to deal with two." She mused, getting a small chuckle from some of the others.

Weiss huffed. "You only have to deal with Ruby. I'm the one who has to deal with both." She rectified flatly, giving her sister and friend a narrowed look. Ruby at least tried to look apologetic when Weiss's gaze fell on her; Winter just smirked cheekily.

Yang chuckled. "Yes, but I have to deal with you." She countered easily.

"You make it sound like I'm the insufferable one."

"I'm not saying you're the fun one."

"Just because I have morals doesn't mean I'm not fun."

"It kinda does though, babe."

"I'm plenty fun."

"Name one time you were fun."

"I didn't see you complaining this afternoon."

The reactions from were delayed enough for the heiress to realize exactly what she had said, before the room's mood shifted. Weiss's expression went from cocky to horrified; Yang didn't know whether to laugh at the heiress's slip-up, or run from the heiress's mother.

Ruby was doing her best fish-out-of-water impression, stupefied at the words. Blake, like earlier, looked ready to burst into laughter; Winter looked ready to join her. Amethyst was a bit harder to read, her face masking whatever she was truly feeling, but her eyes were filled with amusement.

Weiss's mother, however, looked unaffected by the words. She looked between the two, studying them for anything that might give them away (though the heiress's face was doing plenty of that). After a moment, she let out a sigh. "You two are perfect for each other." She mused, her lips turning up into a smile after the words left them.

With the silence broken, Weiss's shock was broken as well, at least enough to turn to her mother. "It's not what it sounds like!" She immediately retracted, trying to save whatever she could.

Blake snorted, the action drawing attention to herself. "That's not what I saw." She corrected, getting a glare from the heiress.

Yang joined in. "Not helping, Blake."

"Not trying to."

Winter chuckled, but remained silent as Willow spoke. "You're a grown woman; I'm not going to tell you to avoid what comes naturally." She gave the blonde a quick look over, Yang suddenly feeling small. "At least you have good taste."

At that, Blake, Winter, and Amethyst broke into laughter, Ruby slowly and silently joining them. Yang was equally flattered and weirded out by the compliment, while Weiss's face, neck, and chest turned a bright red. "Mother! I so did not need to hear that!"

The older woman giggled. "Would you rather I not find your choices in partners acceptable?" She asked sweetly.

"I would rather you not try flirting with them!"

"I wouldn't call that flirting." Willow countered easily. "I would never betray my own daughter by stealing her girlfriend from her." The woman wore a devious smirk.

The heiress groaned loudly, burying her face into her hands, trying to meld into her pillows. "Just kill me now."

At that, the blonde let out a short, chuckling sigh. "No, thank you." She started simply. "Besides, who else would I embarrass if you died?"

Weiss responded by backhanding her in the chest, though Yang simply caught the arm with a laugh. "You are not helping, Yang." The heiress mumbled, only half-angrily. However, she was making no attempt at taking her arm back.

Yang audibly smiled. "Not trying to, babe." She countered. "You know, you're cute when you're flustered." She added, getting a silent glare from the heiress. However, that glare lost its edge with the growing blush on the heiress's face.

A few moments when by before the heiress's glare finally gave way to a small smile. Yang, in reply, brought Weiss's hand to her lips and planted a small kiss on the knuckles. The simple act made the heiress's smile grow in size and genuineness. "I love you, Yang."

The blonde never got tired of hearing those words. Weiss's voice was always so sincere when she said them; there was never any malice or hidden agenda in them. They were always words that came from her heart, a heart that, even if everyone else in the world would say was cold as ice, Yang knew was full of warmth and love.

Words would never be enough to accurately convey Yang's own feelings for the heiress, but she lacked a better method. So, she simply gave the heiress a genuine smile, kissing her knuckles once again. "I love you too, princess."

Well, it took me longer than I would've liked, but I finally got this chapter out. After all the drama of the last chapter and the gloom hanging over everyone's heads, I thought there should at least be a more lighthearted moment here. I figure its the least I could do after the long wait and all that.
