Chapter 38: The Plaza Hostage Crisis
Silva went through his briefcase knowing full well he wasn't going to find anything in there, he was just acting. "I'll check my desk. I must have left it in there." Silva said as he walked over to the desk. Alex followed behind, he felt he was up to something. "Don't try anything Silva..." Alex said in an intimidating voice. "Who me? I have no reason to try anything Hunt. You should know that by now." Silva now opened one of his desk drawer and grabbed something heavy which Alex couldn't see. "Here you are. Take a look..." The yellow monster tried to look what was inside the drawer from a safe distance but he couldn't see anything. "I can't see it." Alex complained.
"Well come closer you big idiot!" Silva said in a joking way that came off a little bit harsh. The yellow monster moved closer to Silva and could see the object was just a metal paper weight. "Who are you trying to fool Silva...? Ah!" Silva smacked the paper weight in Alex's face who fell to the floor out cold with a loud thud as hit the floor. It was almost the same way Sanderson went through in the early evening.
I could see Silva's skyscraper in full view as I raced past the many streets of the city. "I'm coming for you Silva! Nothing will stop me no matter how hard you try." I began to greet my teeth together as I didn't know what to expect. Was Silva going to get away? Would I kill him? With only a few streets to pass though I would arrive to the skyscraper that shined throughout the large cites darkness. Monsters who were walking on the paths looked at the police car wondering where I was going or if I was going to be arresting the famous Randall Boggs or a mugger on the run, well that was my only guess since I was the talk on every news channel in the city.
But it didn't matter, nothing matters now. I had no idea what I was going to do once this whole thing was over. If Rebecca was somehow still alive I would put a stop to this and maybe turn myself in. With hopefully Sullivan and Wazowski's help I would spend less time in prison and then I could spend the rest of my life with Rebecca once I got to know her well enough, but sadly no. It seems are friendship was not meant to be. Rebecca is dead and there was still a chance Silva could win even with all the power of me trying to stop his plan and the army that protect him everywhere he goes.
"Dammit it stop crying you weak wasteful excuse of a monster... Pull yourself together! I have to stay strong and get the job done." I shouted out loud in the police car. Silva's company logo appeared in full view which meant I had arrived at the Plaza. I stoppered the police car and turned off the sirens, a thought pop into my brain. Would he have locked the doors? It was probably a yes that he did have the doors locked until he needed to escape again so I decided to do something I would never do in my whole entire life. My plan was to use the police car to smash through the doors.
Of course I would be damaging the police car on the stairs leading up to the door and I could alert any guards or even Silva of my presence. "Oh with the hell with it." I thought as my foot slammed down on the pedal as the car started to make its way up the stairs. "Almost there. Come on... Climb!" I shouted. Finally the car made its way up the stairs and began its path of destruction towards the sliver doors. The car smashed into the glass and lucky the doors flew towards the floor. I stopped the car as soon as I could as I almost crashed into Rebecca's desk. "Wow it really worked..." I said to myself before I rushed out of the car and raced towards the elevator and press the button to Silva's office, the 105th floor.
"I'm sorry I had to do this Alex but you gave me no choice. All you had to do was protect me for once in your life but you had to ask too many questions and stick your horns where it wasn't wanted! Now you're bleeding over my office floor and now tied to a chair... Well I hope your happy Hunt because I'm not! Oh and one more thing, this never happened! If you talk I'll make sure your daughter spends the rest of her life in an orphanage until she is old enough to life on her own and you will spend the rest of your life in prison! Got it?!" Silva left Alex as he could tell he was in and out of consciousness, Alex couldn't make out what was covering his face or why he couldn't move. What Silva said to him just went in and then out of his head, the pain was too much for him to bear so he ignored anything else that was going in the room.
Silva left his injured employee and headed to the elevator only to find one in use and the other three others broken down and in need of a repair. "No it can't be him!" Silva said angry to himself as his fist tighten together. He quickly rushed back to his office and then to his desk, logging himself onto his computer Silva accessed a program which allowed him to see inside of the fourth elevator which I was in. The camera in the elevator turned on as Silva gazed at the screen intently, at first he couldn't see anything until he switched to heat sensor mode to see my body in a warm blue colour. Thanks to the air conduction in the elevator I came up a warm blue on the screen. "Boggs! He's here... dammit I can't catch a break!" For Silva it looked like it was game over until he saw Alex began to struggle on the chair he was tied too. "Maybe it's not over just yet..." He said happily. "Change of plans Hunt. You're going to be my hostage for the night."
"Why... are you... doing this? You have everything... any monster in this world would have dreamed off!" Alex said in a weak voice. "Far from it Mr Hunt! I want to control all of Monstropolis. It's energy it's security and it's water supply. I want to make sure no one laughs at me ever again!"
"You're... mad..." whispered Alex. "No, not at all. I'm sure you've been in my feet before. You did something bad but now you've changed. You want a new life but those in power want you to never be released or have anything good in life. Ring any bells Alex? For me everyone thought I was too dumb to make a name for myself. Too dumb to even have a job, a house or car but I proved everyone wrong. I crushed those who bullied me in high school! I made my own company which would make millions in monster dollars. But I realised I wanted more, not money but power! You see I have all the money in the world but power is something you can never buy." He explained with his widened smile.
"So you wanted Monsters Incorporated then..." Alex said as he finally found out why he wanted to be Monsters Incorporated security so much this week, so he could take over the company himself. "Yes because it would be much harder to control but yet I would have more power over this city and the world. Once I've got it I can get rid of those two monsters who want a piece of my pie! No one tells me what to say or do!" Silva said in a dictator tone. "And no one going to stop me! Not even Randall Boggs!"
Camouflaged with the steel bar and wall of the elevator I counted the numbers I had to wait left to reach Silva office. In just about thirty minutes left my life and other monsters around me will change forever. Bing bong the elevator doors chinned as I walked out of the elevator. The hallway leading up to Silva office was quite, too quiet for my liking. I didn't see Silva walk out of the building earlier on so he had to be here. I went on all fours and crept towards the black and golden doors. I had look around to see if there was another way to get into his office but I could see no air vents of any kind around here.
"Dammit. The only way into his office is though these doors!" I said to myself in a very quiet tone of voice. I breathed in and grabbed the golden door noble and twist it slowly. I pushed the door until it fully opened to first see the room completely dark. My heart raced as I could see a monster shape sitting down on a chair. Was that Silva? "Who there?" but my only reply I got from the dark shape was an "Mmmft! Mmmmf!" Which didn't sound good at all. My attention was draw to Silva's desk as I could see another dark shape appear. The lights turned on and now probably by a remote control which let me fully see who was in the office. "Welcome back Mr Boggs. I been waiting for you. In fact I've not been the only one as you can tell from Mr Hunt." I turned my head to Alex who face was bloody and looked like he was in pain. A white but now blood stained cloth was around his mouth, probably to stop him from warning me this whole thing might be a trap.
I could see thick brown heavy rope around his stomach, his legs and his hands around his back. He looked tired but worse for all for a monster his size he looked scared. "Why do you have to drag more monsters who don't deserves pain and a destroyed life Silva?" I asked as he had a carefree look on his face. "It's not my fault Randall. If you get in my way I deal with anyway I can." He said acidly. "Even if they're you're own employees who are loyal to you, who protect you to the very end? If it weren't for them you wouldn't be here right now!" None of my words didn't seem to do any damage to the heartless monster who was claim and collective as he sat on his chair. Even know I couldn't see him holding a weapon I still didn't trust him, as from what I could see, Alex was tied to the chair which no one would expect such a monster that big get beaten up and kidnapped by a monster that thin and weak, it meant he was very dangerous no matter what you thought of his appearance which meant I had to be careful around him, always.
"What are you waiting for Boggs? The hard drive on the table and I don't have any weapons in my hands." Silva sat up and began to wave his hands at me. "Look? Can't you see I'm telling the truth? It's OK you can trust me, where best pals after all." He said with an evil smile across his face. "Mmm! Mmmmft!" A loud grown came from came from the sacred monster. "Shut up Mr Hunt. You've already had your turn. As you can see Mr Boggs..." As he carried on talking I was thinking what I should do. Run towards the hard drive and try to take it? No it wasn't going to be that easy, nothing was with Silva. But then a light build went off in my head, an idea that would allow me to get the hard drive, knock out or capture Silva and rescue Alex from his nightmare.
It was now or never as I thought to myself. I turned my head to my right and saw the control panel to turn off and on the lights. I reached out and turned the lights off before rushing towards the desk and picking up the silver bag which contacted the hard drive. Unfortunately Silva rushed towards Alex with something in his hand. "Well done Boggs you've caught me off guard but I know you won't leave someone innocent like Alex left on his own to die! You're not that heartless after all!" I felt Silva was bluffing but I could see the evil monster pointing a real gun to Alex's head. If he lied about having a gun he wasn't going to be bluffing about murdering his own employee's but I had no kind of plan to save Alex. "You bluffing!" I shouted to waste time, hoping a plan would pop into my head before it was too late.
Silva smiled as he removed the gag from Alex's mouth. "Would you be so kind to tell Boggs about your daughter? It might just save your life..." Silva painfully rammed the gun at Alex's blood covered cheeks as the nervous monster began to speak. "I... I... I have eight year old daughter who I love so much and would do anything to see her again, even if I don't deserve it. You see I was in prison for kidnapping one of the cities politicians' children for money who I would like to add wasn't killed or harmed in anyway, know that still doesn't make what I did right. So you might ask why would I do such a thing to someone's family or even a child? Well the reason why I did it with a few others was... Because of my... My wife was dying and I was trying to raise money to be able to pay for the treatment she needed which only the likes of Silva could afford at the time, but of course I failed." He took a deep breath as he was struggling to speak.
"She died and with me in imprisoned my daughter spent most of her life in an orphanage, I thought long and hard to get her back from the orphanage and I did. Straight away she loved me and I loved her. We all ways tried to make up for lost time and because of it she had a great childhood even know she has had a few problems at school and with the law, It's my fault really the poor monster takes after me you see..." Silva was starting to get impatient by the long story. "Wrap it up Hunt!"
"I... I didn't care if I live or died before I had my only child but now I do care! She only has me left and without me she won't be able to have a better life than mine. She probably end up committing crimes or working with thugs like Silva!"
Silva really didn't like that comment about him so as a punishment he lightly smacked his gun at the back of Alex's head. He scrammed in pain and his mouth was soon covered again be the gag. "Big talk from an ex-convict! You won't be saying that once I've dealt with Boggs. In fact I make sure I'll get full custody of your child when you're dead!" Alex tried to shout words of pain and anger but the gag prevented him from making any more sound and the ropes from setting him free. The yellow monster began to struggle casing the chair he was tied to rock side to side but it was still no use. "Give me the hard drive Boggs or he dies!" Silva words echoed in Alex's head over and over, but lucky I had a plan to save him and to keep the hard drive in safe hands.
That's it for this week. Merry Christmas readers!
