I hope you all enjoy the new chapter!
Spiritual (Part II)
"Kendall, I really think that this is a bad idea." Logan said as I went to grab my car keys.
"Do you want me to just let Jett die?!" I snapped, making my way to the door in the process.
"Of course not! But I don't want you to get hurt either, which is exactly what will happen if you run in there without a plan!" He said, grabbing my wrist to stop me from leaving in the process.
I closed my eyes before taking a calming breath, hoping to calm myself down a little. I knew that Logan was right. We had no idea what exactly James' father was capable of at the moment, and while we did have the element of suprise, we still had to play our cards right if we were going beat James' father at his own game.
"Okay, you're right." I said, putting my keys in my pocket before turning towards Logan, who had a look of relief on his face. "But we still can't just let Jett die. We need to come up with a plan, and fast." I added, to which Logan quickly nodded.
"I know, and I think that-" He started, stopping when he heard someone knocking at the door.
I shared a look with Carlos and Logan, who looked just as confused as I felt.
I slowly made my way to the door before cautiously opening it, my eyes widening when I saw who it was.
"Kendall!" James exclaimed as he walked forward, closing the distance between us before pulling me into a hug.
I stood there for a second, not really sure how to react before reluctantly returning the hug.
"James? What are you doing here?" I asked, before breaking the hug, giving the brunet a quizzical look.
"Well, I was at school, getting ready to leave when Jett came out of nowhere and attacked me. I'm pretty sure he would've killed me, but I got away." He said, with me not missing the fact that this was pretty much the exact same story that Jett had told me. Except, unlike Jett, James didn't seem to show any signs of being attacked.
"I didn't know where else to go. I guess here was the first place that came to mind." He continued.
I looked into his eyes, not seeing the warm, loving hazel eyes that I was used to. There was something about them that I couldn't quite place, but I knew that it wasn't really James that I was talking to right now.
"It's okay. You'll be safe here." I said, before pulling him into a hug, knowing that I had to play dumb until I figured out what to do. "Do you want something to drink?" I asked, watching as he just nodded.
"Okay, I'll be right back." I said before turning to Logan and Carlos, motioning for them to follow me.
"Guys, we have a problem!" I whispered harshly as soon as we were in the kitchen and out of earshot.
"We do?" Carlos asked, making me roll my eyes.
"Yes! That's not James!" Logan whispered to his boyfriend.
"At least someone's paying attention." I muttered.
"Kendall! Now is not the time for this! We need to come up with a plan. And fast!" Logan whispered frantically.
"I know that! But that's kinda hard to do with this kind of pressure!" I snapped.
"Hey! I'm the one that's horrible under pressure! Not you!" Logan snapped back.
"Yeah? Well it's not your boyfriend being possessed by his psychotic father!"
"Guys! Now's not the time for this!" Carlos reminded us, snapping Logan and I out of our argument.
"You're right Carlos." I sighed before turning towards Logan. "Any ideas?" I asked hopefully.
"Uh… I can knock him out by throwing him across the room." He said with a nervous smile.
"Guys?"
We all jumped at the sound of James' voice, turning around to find the brunet standing in the doorway.
"What's going on?" He asked in an accusatory tone, which didn't help my nerves any.
"Do it!" I said, nudging Logan in the process.
"What?!" He exclaimed, looking at me like I had grown two heads.
"Do it!" I repeated, not missing the way James' eyes widened in realization.
"Why you-" He started, his eyes starting to dilate.
But he didn't get to finish as Logan quickly flicked his wrist, sending the brunet flying.
I couldn't help but wince as I watched James crash into the table in the living room, hitting his head in the process.
"James!" I exclaimed before quickly running to his side, ignoring the warnings coming from Carlos and Logan. "He's out cold." I said to the couple once they made their way over to me.
"Well at least this should buy us some time." Logan said, trying to focus on the bright side of the situation.
"Yeah." I said before standing up. "I'll take him up to my room so I can keep an eye on him. You two go back to the school and see if you can find Jett." I instructed.
"Are you sure you're going to be okay here?" Logan asked, giving me a worried look.
"I'll be fine." I said, not taking my eyes off of James.
"Alright, we'll call you as soon as we find him." He said, to which I silently nodded.
"He's going to be okay Kendall." Carlos said, giving my shoulder a comforting squeeze before following Logan to head to the school.
I let out a shaky breath as soon as the door closed.
"I don't know what's going to happen, but I promise I'm going to do my best to save you." I whispered to the unconscious brunet before moving to carry him up to my room.
"Logie, we've walked through the entire school. I don't think he's here." Carlos said as we continued walked through the school.
"He's gotta be here somewhere." I said, trying to think of where he could possibly be.
"Well, unless there's some part of the school that no one knows about, he's not here. We've walked through the entire school!" Carlos exclaimed, his words immediately clicking.
"Carlos, that's it!" I said before turning around.
"What's it?" He asked as he trailed behind me.
"Remember the old science room? The one that no one ever goes into anymore?" I asked, watching as his eyes widened in realization.
"Logie, you're a genius!" He exclaimed, making me blush a little.
"Well I didn't figure it out on my own. You helped." I reminded him.
"I guess I did, didn't I?" He asked, looking quite proud of himself. "But I'm sure you would've figured it out on your own if I hadn't said anything." He assured me, which I couldn't help but smile a little at.
"Thanks." I said softly as we continued walking.
We walked in silence for a few minutes before he suddenly spoke up again.
"Logan, do you think James is going to be okay?" He asked quietly.
"He's going to be just fine. Kendall will make sure of it." I said, knowing that the blonde really loved James and would do whatever he had to do to make sure that he was safe.
"I hope so." Carlos muttered.
I was getting ready to respond, to reassure him that everything would be okay, when we suddenly came up to the room that we were looking for.
"Here we are." I said, quickly unlocking the door before opening it.
I let out a cough at the amount of smoke that left the room after opening the door, and even though I couldn't smell it, I knew that it couldn't be anything good.
"Come on. We need find Jett and get out of here as quickly as we can." I said to Carlos before walking in.
We didn't have to go far because we found Jett unconscious on the floor right in front of the door.
I carefully lifted him up, wrapping his arm around my shoulder as Carlos did the same with his other arm before carrying him out of the room.
Carlos and I kept walking until we were a good distance away from the room before gently placing Jett on the ground.
"Is he… you know?" Carlos asked worriedly as he stared at the comatose body in front of him.
I leaned down to check his pulse, feeling my heartbeat quicken when I found that he had a pulse, but it was barely there.
"He's alive. But barely." I admitted.
"Well heal him!" Carlos exclaimed, looking like he was on the brink of freaking out.
"I can't. My powers only work on physical wounds. We have to get him to a hospital, and fast." I said, before pulling out my phone.
"You're going to be alright." I said to Jett as I dialed 911. But I wasn't sure if I was saying that for his sake, Carlos' sake, or for my sake…
Done! Not my favorite chapter, but I hope you all enjoyed it! And I don't know why, but I loved the part where Kendall and Logan were whisper-arguing in the kitchen :P I also love the way that Kendall was able to immediately tell that it wasn't James.
Anyways, not too much happened, but they've got James and Cargan found Jett!
I'm really excited for next chapter because if it turns out the way I want it to, it'll be kind of emotional and Kames heavy.
I know you all are waiting to see what happens with James and you'll find out next chapter!
And random question, what do you think should happen with Jett? Do you all think he should make it? Or no? I'm just curious and I'd love to hear your thoughts on that as well as the chapter in general!
P.S. If you haven't already, please go and check out my new story Treacherous! I'll be focusing on that story for a while and plan on updating it this weekend! :)
I'm also hoping to have the next chapter of this story up this weekend so until then!
