'I've heard of killer bees, but killer beetle? What is it that could make different bugs attack?' Dean asked as I drove the car and Sam was in the backseat.
'Well, hauntings sometimes include bug manifestations' Sam stated
'Yeah, but I didn't see any evidence of ghost activity' I said
'Yeah, me neither' Dean said
'Maybe they're being controlled somehow. You know, but something or someone' Dean suggested
'You mean like Willard?' Sam asked
'Yeah. Bugs instead of rats' Dean explained
'There are cases of psychic connections between people and animals' Sam stated
'Elementals, telepaths' I a
'Yeah, the whole Timmy-Lassie thing. Larry's kid. Bugs for pets' Dean said
'Matt?' Sam asked
'Yeah' Dean said
'He tried to scare the realtor with a tarantula' Sam explained as I laughed
'Think he's our Willard?' I asked
'I don't know. Anything's possible, I guess' Sam said
'Hey, pull over here' Dean said as I pulled into an empty house's driveway.
'What are we doing here?' Sam asked
'It's too late to talk to anybody else' Dean said getting out of the car and opening the garage door.
'We're going to squat in an empty house?' Sam asked shocked
'I want to try the steam shower. Come on' Dean said grinning as I laughed and drove into the garage.
Dean quickly went into the bathroom and jumped into the shower.
'Kaylee' Sam said suddenly as I was laying on the bed
'Yeah' I replied
'Why don't you… uh, shapeshift during the full moon?' Sam asked softly and I opened my eyes and rested on my elbows to look at him.
'I mean; you are a werewolf… right?' Sam asked in a whisper
'Are you scared of me?' I asked
'Not unless your angry at me' Sam admitted and I chuckled.
'Do you still trust me?' I asked and Sam nodded firmly.
'Of course' Sam said honestly
'Then does it matter what I am?' I asked softly and Sam thought about it for a moment but sighing.
'Not really… I'm just curious' Sam admitted and I nodded.
'I understand that, let's just say that I may look like a werewolf but there is no one else like me. I'm a freak to every species' I explained sadly before closing my eyes and laying back down on the bed, ending the conversation.
...
I woke up the next morning to Sam knocking on the bathroom door.
'You ever coming out of there?' Sam shouted to Dean
'What?' Dean shouted back
'A police call came in on the scanner' Sam shouted as I groaned and threw a pillow at Sam.
'Shush' I said tiredly
'Hold on!' Dean called back
'Someone was found dead three blocks from here. Come on' Sam explained as I sat up in my bed, just as Dean opened the door with a towel around his waist and his head.
'This shower is awesome' Dean said grinning
'Come on!' Sam said annoyed.
A few minutes later, Dean got out of the shower and we jumped into the car, driving over to the new crime scene.
'Look, I don't know anything more right now. I'll have to call you back. All right' Larry said on the phone as we walked over to him.
'Hello. You're back early' Larry said
'We drove in to take another look at the neighbourhood' Dean explained
'What's going on?' Sam asked
'You guys met Lynda Bloome at the BBQ?' Larry asked
'The realtor' Sam said shocked
'Well, she passed away last night' Larry explained
'What happened?' I asked softly
'I'm still trying to find out. I identified the body for the police. Look, I'm sorry. This isn't a good time' Larry said sadly
'It's okay' Sam said as Larry walked off.
'You know what we have to do, right?' Dean asked
'Yeah, get into that house' Sam said
'See if we got a bug problem' I added
We waited for the police to drive away before I climbed up the wall and onto the balcony. I helped up Sam and Dean.
'This looks like the place' Dean said as we walked into the bathroom to find broken glass. I bent down to pick up the towel when a bunch of dead spiders dropped out, causing me to jump back into Dean.
'Spiders' Dean said looking at me.
'I don't like spiders' I whispered holding Dean's arm tightly.
'From Spider-boy?' Dean asked
'Matt' Sam corrected firmly
'Maybe' Sam added softly
'I… I'm heading back to the car' I said still freaking out about the spiders.
…..
We pulled up at the bus stop and watched as Matt got off his school bus and started walking the opposite way to his house.
'Isn't his house that way?' Dean asked
'Yep' Sam said as I leant forward and stuck my head in between the chairs.
'So where the hell is he going?' I asked before we jumped out of the car and followed Matt through the trees to find him looking at a praying mantis.
'Hey Matt. Remember me?' Sam said as we walked over to him.
'Yeah, Sam and Dean. And you're Dean's fiancé, Kaylee' Matt said as I rolled my eyes and glared at Dean who was trying not to laugh.
'What are you doing out here?' Matt asked
'Well, we want to talk to you' Dean said simply
'You're not here to buy a house, are you?' Matt asked as I shook my head silently.
'Wait. You're not serial killers?' Matt asked scared as the boys chuckled.
'If we were would we really answer that question?' I asked amused
'No, I think you're safe' Sam said
'So, Matt, you sure know a lot about insects' Dean said
'So?' Matt asked
'Did you hear what happened to Lynda, the realtor?' I asked
'I hear she died this morning' Matt said
'That's right' I said
'Spider bites' Dean added as I shuddered at the memory.
'Matt, you tried to scare her with a spider' Sam said
'Wait, you think I had something to do with that?' Matt asked
'You tell us' Dean said
'That tarantula was a joke' Matt said
'Yeah, a very bad joke' I muttered before Dean shushed me.
'Anyway, that wouldn't explain the bee attack or the gas-company guy' Matt added
'You know about those?' Sam asked
'There is something going on here. I don't know what, but something's happening with the insects. Let me show you something' Matt said as he grabbed his bag and led us deeper into the forest.
'So if you knew about all this bug stuff, why not tell your dad? Maybe he could clear everybody out' Sam asked
'Believe me, I've tried but Larry doesn't listen to me' Matt said
'Why not?' Sam asked
'Mostly? He's too disappointed in his freak son' Matt said
'I hear you' Sam muttered
'You do?' Dean asked confused as I gained Dean's attention by grabbing his hand. He looked at me confused.
'Just leave it alone' I whispered before releasing his hand.
'Matt, how old are you?' Sam asked
'16' Matt replied
'Well, don't sweat it, because in 2 years, somethings great's going to happen' Sam said
'What?' Matt asked
'College. You'll be able to get out of that house and away from your dad' Sam said grinning
'What kind of advice is that? Kid should stick with his family' Dean said causing me to roll my eyes annoyed as Sam turned to glare at him.
'How much further, Matt?' I asked breaking the tension
'We're close' Matt said as we continued to walk. I shook my head as I heard the bugs get louder and louder.
'I've been keeping track of insect populations. It's part of an AP science class' Matt explained
'You two are like peas in a pod' Dean muttered before looking at me concerned as I tried to subtlety block out the noise.
'What's been happening?' Sam asked
'A lot. I mean, from bees to earthworms, beetles… you name it. It's like they're congregating here' Matt explained
'Why?' Dean asked
'I don't know' Matt said simply as I finally got used to the loud noise and looked over a large mound in the ground.
'What's that?' I asked curiously but Matt didn't know. Dean walked over to it with me following and then Sam and Matt following after that. Dean stepped onto a dirt patch of worms, only for it to collapse. Dean grabbed a stick and started tapping into the hole.
'There's something down there' Dean said as he reached into the hole. Sam and I sharing a worried look.
'Come on, come on' Dean said as he dug down and pulled out a human skull. Dean looked back up at Sam and I, confused.
