Day 38: Pernicious

Klavier was leaning back on Edgeworth's gilded magenta divan absently strumming his purple guitar; when the man himself entered the office. Edgeworth strode past him to his desk and was mid-way through his inbox before he looked up and noticed the rock star prosecutor sitting there.

"Why are you in my office?"

"I was coming to speak to you, Herr Bangs," Klavier smiled demurely without looking away from his guitar.

"You could've made an appointment," Edgeworth glared as per usual and pointed his finger for emphasis, "I do have a secretary."

"Ja," Klavier closed his eyes dramatically and nodded, "She is not pretty."

Edgeworth frowned, "I don't see how that should make a difference as far as her ability to put you on my calendar."

Klavier's head shot up and he stared directly at Edgeworth, "Herr Bangs, surely you don't expect me to waste time talking to unlovely people?"

Edgeworth opened his mouth to respond but found he had nothing to say. He glared at Klavier instead with an intensity that could bore holes into stone. Klavier sat up and set his guitar on the divan beside him and then clapped his hands together and smiled at Edgeworth.

"Herr—"

"If you call me 'Herr Bangs' one more time, you can be my new secretary!"

Klavier stared at him—dumbstruck. Then he brushed his long golden locks away from his face and smiled, "Chief, then..."

"Better," Edgeworth crossed his arms and stared at the younger prosecutor.

Klavier cleared his throat, "Er... So... Em, chief..."

Edgeworth's smoldering gaze continued to burrow into him.

Klavier chuckled sheepishly and shook his head, "Mein Chief, you have distracted me with your pernicious changing of subjects—I seem to have left my thoughts train."

Edgeworth blinked, "You 'lost your train of thought'..."

"Yes."

Edgeworth's hard glare softened a little in bewilderment and he dropped his arms and put his hands on his hips, "Pernicious is a bit of an overstatement, don't you think?"

Klavier's perfectly manicured brows shot up, "Perhaps, though, one might describe the Great Miles Edgeworth as pernicious. I seem to recall something about a "Demon Prosecutor" among other things."

Edgeworth stepped back and stared incredulously at Klavier, "Are you trying to lose your job?"

Klavier laughed shyly and tossed his hair—like a girl. Edgeworth crossed his arms again.

"What did you come in here for anyway?"

Klavier hesitated, "I forgot, Mein Chief..."

"Then you don't have to be in my office anymore, do you?"

"No, I suppose not."

"Good day, then Prosecutor Gavin."

Klavier looked confused and after a few moments to gather his thoughts he reached down to pick up his guitar and started to walk out of the office.

"Pernicious..." he muttered under his breath.

A/N: Just realized... I usually have a note for you, lovely readers! So um... Thanks for reading! Reviews are always appreciated! I will take suggestions too!

Challenge: Write about Edgeworth and Klavier's working relationship!

GUEST AUTHORS FOR WORD OF THE DAY

Yes, I am still taking entries if you'd like to try your hand at this! You can use any character from the AA and Investigations games, please NO OCs. I have a list of words up in the forum or you can PM me. I am open to you picking the word you want, just let me know before hand, because I have a few chapters already written and I don't want people doing multiple chapters of a single word. These are vignettes, so 300-800 words is all I'd need. I won't turn away a longer story, but I may ask to trim it. These are actually pretty fun, so let me know if you'd like to try!
