Hello there my llamas! It's been very long. So I thought, "I should write a chapter." So here ya go! :) And I'm not making anymore promises as when I'm going to update because we all now that I'm it won't work...
Edit 2: Holy crap, I last updated during the summer! Dayyuuummm... Sorry.
Edit 3: I'm not going to make anymore promises of updating regularly. Because we all know it's not going to happen. Also, I added some people for entertainment. They are NOT staying. I just needed some names and it worked out nicely. They're here until I end this arc of whatever this is. The Arc of Teaching Migdets?
Maka's POV
Our last class today was with Miss Marie. Apparently, she had some sort of "fun" assignment for us. Whenever she said something was "fun" it always happened to be something to do with us getting her a boyfriend.
"I promise you'll love this!" She said enticingly. We were sitting in the desks, and already I was regretting not feigning some sort of terminal illness.
"So," She said after everyone had sat down. "I am going on an extended, and well deserved vacation. Because of this, I am giving you an easy assignment. You will be choosing a partner-"
Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. Oh god. OH MOTHER OF GOD. I HATE TRYING TO WORK WITH PARTNERS!
"And go!"
Wait, what?
The entire class stood up and began to move around and sit next to, who I assumed, their partners. Soul was surrounded by hordes of fangirls, all vying for his attention.
This was going to be another group project I was going to do myself once again-
"Tiny-tits."
I looked up to see Soul standing there, looking at me expectantly.
"Do you need something Soul?" I asked confused.
"No, I just want to stand here and watch you."
I blinked. Soul rolled his eyes.
"I want to be your partner for the project."
"Why?"
"So you can do all the work, and I'll take all the credit." He grinned.
I smiled in spite of myself. "Ha ha, like I'd let you!"
"Besides," Soul began sitting down next to me. "I don't really like kids."
Kids?
"What are we doing?" I asked.
Soul raised an eyebrow. "You didn't hear?"
"No...I was kind of daydreaming." I muttered embarrassed.
"Marie said we were going to choose partners, then we'd be the substitute teachers for the little kids for a day."
My eyes widened. "How'd she get the teachers to agree to that?"
Soul shrugged. "They're teachers. They deal with shitheads like myself on a daily basis. It probably wasn't that hard to convince the other teachers to take a break like her."
"As I was saying," Miss Marie called over the class. "You will be going to teach the younger students at the other school for a day. I have already decided which class each of you will be teaching depending on who you chose as a partner."
I glanced over at Soul.
Good god.
"Now then, first is..." Marie looked at her list of students and wrote down the first group. "You will be teaching..."
Miss Marie went down the list until she reached Soul and me.
"Soul Evans and Maka Albarn..." She mumbled. "You will be teaching a second grade class. The teacher's name is..." Her gaze darkened for a moment. "Mrs. Tsugumi."
The moment she was out of earshot Soul groaned. "God, I hate children." He grumbled.
I chuckled.
"Now this will be taking place tomorrow-"
"Tomorrow?!" There was a chorus of voices that began to protest.
"Alright, calm down" Miss Marie said. "The teachers I assigned you to will give you a list of what to do at what time. So you don't need to worry."
"And one last thing..." Miss Marie's gaze turned dark, and she glared at each student (Except for myself luckily).
"You will behave yourselves. You are going to be the role models for little children, and I don NOT want a note from the other teachers there that ANY of you did something stupid. Do you understand?"
The class nodded, fearful of their teacher.
"She's probably going through menopause." I heard Black Star whisper to Soul.
I looked over at him, surprised. Since when did Black Star know about bodily functions?
"Who said that?!" Miss Marie snarled. Black Star gulped as her evil gaze turned to him.
"I'm watching you Black Star!" She jabbed a finger in his direction, and then turned back to her desk.
Just then was when the bell rang. I had never seen Black Star run as quickly out of class as he did then.
The next day, Soul met up with me outside of the school building.
"Shall we?" He gestured to the door, and I walked past him and into the building.
So we both signed in, then carried on down the hallway in search of this classroom.
"Oh thank kami you're here!" A woman's voice called from the other end of the hall. Soul and I turned around to see a pretty looking blonde woman waving wildly at us.
"Uh, is that the teacher?" Soul asked me quietly.
The lady began to call out to us louder now. "C'mon now! Don't be shy you two!"
Soul and I looked at each other, then made our way back down the hall to her classroom.
"Come on in!" She ushered us into the spacious room, where 20 or so children sat reading and drawing.
"Now," She began. Upon closer inspection, one could see her frizzy hair and wildly crazed expression. She'd looked like she'd been through Hell and back. "My name is Mrs. Tsugumi. I'm going to be away from the school from today and the rest of the weekend!" She grinned, which revealed her yellowing teeth.
"Um...What exactly are-?"
"What exactly are you two going to be doing?" She interrupted Soul, who closed his mouth slowly, all the while staring at the Tsugumi.
"Yeah, what do-"
"I have a chart of what you have to do with the kids at each time of the day. During snack time, Sammy and Frank can't have cheese; They're lactose-intolerant, and last time one of them had goat cheese on the field trip- YEESH! That was bad!"
"Uh-"
"OH! And Piper is a vegetarian, so you can't feed her any meat or she'll throw a fit. Another thing is Dean, Sammy's older brother, do not, I repeat DO NOT try to separate the two in any way WHATSOEVER!"
"Okay so-"
"And one last thing! I've left the list of children's names on my desk, so you can figure out who I'm talking about! And now," Tsugumi took a breath. "I leave them in your capable teenage hands to order as you please!"
She then exited the classroom, leopard print purse and heels in tow.
"She- What-?"
"Did you hear any of that?" I asked Soul. He shrugged helplessly.
"We are seriously and colossally fucked."
"Soul! There are kids in here!" I whispered angrily.
"Shit!" He muttered. I glared at him once again, not noticing the little child who made his way over to me.
"Are you our new teacher?" He asked, tilting his head ever so slightly.
"Yes, well- at least for today." I replied smiling at him.
The kid frowned, then he walked back to his desk where him and another little kid watched me and Soul with suspicious and judging eyes.
What was his problem?
"Okay, then..." I walked to the front of class, dragging Soul behind me. "Ahem, could I have your attention please?" I called. Some kids looked up, while others continued their coloring.
"Soul, go get the list of names from the teacher's desk." I whispered to him. He groaned loudly, then walked slowly to the desk.
There was a soft sound of giggling from the kids who watched, which prompted the other kids to look up and see what was up.
I took this chance to speak. "My name is Maka Albarn, and that-" I pointed to the hunched over figure of Soul who was rummaging through the large stacks of paper on the desk. "-is Soul Evans. We will be your teachers for today while Mrs. Tsugumi goes on vacation."
A little girl raised her hand. "Why does he have white hair?" She asked.
"Why do you have blonde hair? It's called genetics kid." He answered, crouching over and rifling through the drawers.
"But it shouldn't be possible for a person to have white hair unless the y chromosome and-"
"Okay, I'm, gonna stop you there kid. I came here to teach kids, not get lectured. I get enough of that shit from her." Soul jabbed a finger at me from under the desk. I rolled my eyes.
The class erupted into giggles. "Hey, don't cuss." I snapped at Soul. He raised his hands up in defeat just above the edge of the desk.
"Yes ma'am." He replied, then resumed his search of the list.
"Can we have recess?" Another little boy asked.
"Not until it's time for recess." I replied.
"Found it." Soul stood up, a triumphant grin on his face. He walked back to where I stood, and handed my the scrap of paper.
On it, were 16 students, a relatively small class compared to large 30 or so classes at the academy:
Annabeth Chase
Nico D'Angelo
Katniss Everdeen
Jason Grace
Percy Jackson
Hazel Levesque
Lydia Martin
Peeta Mellark
Piper Mclean
Reyna RamÃrez-Arellano
Will Solace
Stiles Stilinski
Leo Valdez
Dean Winchester
Sam Winchester
Frank Zhang
"What kind of a name is Katniss? And Peeta?" Soul made a face, then rolled his eyes. "And Stiles? Seriously? What are these parents smoking?"
"Who names their kid Soul?" I shot back attempting and failing to contain my smile.
"Soul is a great name. It's more of a name than Katniss anyway. Is that a girl name?" I held a finger to my lips, then began to call role.
"Annabeth Chase?"
"Here." The little blonde girl from earlier who asked about Soul's hair raised her hand. Soul narrowed his eyes at the kid.
I continued down the list of names, until I reached the kid named Frank who timidly raised his hand with a quiet, 'Here.'
"Okay so first," I looked down at the schedule that I had Soul retrieve for me ("I feel like a dog..." He had mumbled).
"We will be doing Math." There was a collective groan from the kids as they grudgingly reached into their desks and pulled out their math book.
"Ok, so..." I looked at what Mrs. Tsugumi had written for Math, and scoffed.
"What?" Soul whispered.
"Look." I handed him the paper, and he chuckled. "The rest of the list is like that too Maka."
"What?" I pulled the paper away from him and read the exact same words down the entire paper:
"Teach them what they need to learn." I read aloud.
"Is that what Mrs. Tsugumi wrote?" A boy, who according to his name tag on the desk, was Sam Winchester.
"Yeah...Not really helpful is it?" Soul said.
"Can we have recess then?" The same kid(Stiles apparently)from before asked.
"No we have to-"
"That depends." Soul interrupted. I cast an irritated glance in his direction. He winked back in return.
"Soul-"
"She didn't leave clear enough instructions. She said to teach them what they need to learn, so that's what we're gonna do."
"We can't-"
"Fuck yea we can! She sucks at her job anyway, we'd be doing these midgets a favor."
"Soul!" I snapped. "Don't cuss!"
"Right, yes, of course. Teachers don't curse." He grinned that endearingly annoying shark-tooth grin.
"Hello class." He stood up straighter, and smiled widely at them. The children in the front leaned away from him.
"My name is Soul Evans, and I'm going to teach you everything you need to know about everything."
Hello people. It's always going to be a long while before I update because you know, life gets in the way sometimes. But this story will go until it's end, which as I said in the previous chapter, it should be in a few more chapters. I had this idea maybe about towards chapter 12 or so, and wanted to try to put this in somewhere. I forgot about it until fairly recently and I was just beaming with joy. And sadness. Because the end is nigh for Decisions, Decisions.
Until next time lovelies, stay beautiful, stay happy, stay safe. :)
