*Hand out imaginary lollipops to all the reviewers* i am just pumping out chapter this week this is totally new for me, i hope you guys like the story so far. i'm glad to see that you enjoyed the plot twists that i put in here. i think i added another one but i'm not sure, but i got this idea because i was talking to my mom about a story i was reading for my La class called A Rose for Emily, it was supposed to be creepy and there was a plot twist but i expected a better plot twist and i have read creepier stories than that one. And the story that Starly has read later in the chapter, is a true story so don't kill me, but it came from the true story and A Rose for Emily. i think that's all from me.
TO THE STORY!
Chapter 38: Real feelings
(Brittany's pov)
"Starly!" I called out. My phone just landed and Dakota came with Starly to pick me up. Poor Dakota, he doesn't know what he's getting himself into.
They were waiting for me through the crowd that waiting for me by the exit but they couldn't see me through the crowd that was leaving. I tried calling them five times now but they still didn't see me. At least they heard me so I know I'm alive.
Rolling my eyes, I made my way toward them. I silently made my way next to/behind Starly. I whispered in her ear. "Who are we waiting for?"
She screamed and tried to slap me. I laughed and only blocked it. "Nice to see you too. Hey Dakota!" I waved.
He waved back and gave me a hug. "How ya been Brittany? Everything ok?"
I held back a frown and only smiled bigger. "Everything's great! It couldn't be better."
Dakota chuckled. "Come on! Let's go!" Starly grabbed my wrist and pulled me along until we reached the car. "You ok?" She asked me.
I sighed. "Yeah, I'm ok. Although I didn't think Adam told Dakota what's going on."
"Me neither…hold on… Dakota! Hurry up!" She cried out. I could hear him chuckle.
"I don't have to if I don't want to!" Dakota called back.
"Fine!" Starly groaned. I smiled at how close they've gotten.
"How's Ty?" I asked her.
"Ty's been doing great…at least from what I've heard. It's been a little lonely since he moved back to Arizona but I'm grateful for Minecraft and Skype." Starly played with her hair.
"Long distance relationships are a pain." I leaned against the car as Starly nodded.
"Ok then, why don't we get on the road and leave the airport?" Dakota somehow passed us and opened the door to the driver's seat.
"Let's go!" Starly fist pumped, grabbed my suitcase, threw it in the trunk and pushed me into the car. "Geeze Star…you don't have to be so rough." I moved my shoulders around. "I think I starched something."
"You'll live!" Starly got into the seat next to me.
"So…Dakota…are we going to Narnia?" I raised an eyebrow at Starly's question.
"Not today Star." Dakota chuckled. She groaned. "But you promised!"
I nudged Starly's shoulder. "How old are you?"
"I'm the same age as you!" She pushed me.
"Oh that's perfect! TO NARNIA!" I yelled as we left the airport.
"The two of you together is a bad combination." Dakota turned right. "It's going to be the death of me."
I laughed. "Come on Kermit, I knew you still love us." I side hugged Starly.
"Yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that." Dakota kept going straight for what seemed like hours.
I had a sudden light bulb moment. "I just realized something."
"What?"
"If Starly's like my sister…and you're her older brother…wouldn't that mean…in a sense…you're my older brother as well?" I leaned back into the seat of the car.
"That would make sense." Starly looked out her window and at the passing trees.
"If what you're saying is true…" Dakota turned left then another right. "…then wouldn't Adam be my metaphorical brother?"
"Yup! One big happy family!" I put my hands behind my head and closed my eyes. The words were echoing in the back of my mind. 'One big happy family.'
(Adam's pov)
I woke up in bed feeling as sore as ever. I don't remember when I first got into bed but I do remember most of yesterday's events. I sighed. 'Let's get this over with.'
I got out of bed and trudged my way to the kitchen. I looked into the sink and saw that the dishes needed to be done. Groaning, I started doing the chore.
"Hey." Jason walked into the kitchen and opened up the fridge. He took out something from it and a bowl from the cabinet. "How'd you sleep?" He asked me.
"To be honest…horrible…do you know how I got into bed last night?" I turned around to look at him for a second then I went back to doing the dishes.
"You walked there by yourself…you don't remember?" I shook my head. "Nope but I guess it doesn't matter. How'd did you sleep?" I closed the cabinets and turned on the dish washer.
"Take a wild guess."
I turned around and got a good looked at Jason for the first time today. "I see what exactly has been eating you? Why aren't you getting any sleep?" I sat down across from him.
"Nightmares." He shrugged. "they won't stop and they're all about Brittany."
I sighed. "Listen…I don't want to sound creepy or anything…but what's happening in these nightmares? They sound more like night terrors."
Jason sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I saw her."
"What?"
"Here in the house…yesterday…before she left. She was leaving with a suitcase and she had some papers in her hand. I got out of my car as fast as I could and I asked her what was she doing. Brittany opened the trunk of the taxi and threw her suitcase in. I don't think she saw or heard me until I was about 10…maybe 15 feet away from her. She didn't seem to expect me, the shock on her face was enough to tell me that. I figured she was going to leaving…she seemed to get over the shock and told me that she couldn't tell me but I had to trust her." Jason seemed to smile a bit but it was gone as fast as it came. "I was going to tell her about you guys and how we were looking for her but then…she caught me off guard and cut me off."
"How?"
"She… she…kissed me. Out of all the things I've done, you know what she said? She said… 'I still love you Jason. I can forgive you for what you did but something has to be done first. I hope this doesn't damage our friendship.'" Jason took a deep breath and sighed. "I don't know what she meant by that and it's nagging in the back of my head. I could of done something!" He slammed his fist on the table. I leaned back in surprise.
"I could of stopped her from leaving. I could of kept her here and waited for you guys to show up but…something held me back. I knew she wouldn't be happy with Mr. Smith and I also know that I would never be able to live with myself if I was part of putting her through something like that."
I leaned back against me chair and crossed my arms. "Jason…I'm going to ask you a question…and I want you to be completely honest about it."
Jason looked up at me. "What is it?"
I leaned in (arms crossed and everything). "Do you… love Brittany? Not normal I love you like you would say every day, but like I literally can't live without you love."
Jason looked down and didn't answer for what seemed like the longest time ever. I was about to call his attention in cane he fell asleep on me but then…Jason nodded. "Yes…I love Brittany."
(Brittany's pov)
I dropped my suitcase in Starly's room and jumped into her bed. "I think this is the first time I've seen your room." I said as I looked around.
"If it is, what do you think?" she spun around. I chuckled.
"It's cute…I like it." Her room was cleaner than mine by a landslide. To my right, I saw a huge mirror that had pictures and drawings taped on but there was one picture (out of all the others) that caught my eyes. Obviously it was Ty.
"You keep a picture of Ty on your mirror?" I got off the bed and walked over I got off of the bed and walked over to get a better look at it. It was one of the pictures from the photo shoot. The one I slept through (I think) thanks to that stupid spider.
Starly blushed a bit. "Like you don't have a picture of Jason!"
I smiled. "Actually… I don't."
"Shut up!"
"Only because I happen to live with him, remember? If I didn't, I probably would have a picture of him." I threw my hands up in surrender.
"Speaking of Jason…why'd you two break up?" Starly sat on her bed.
I sighed. "I didn't mean for it to happen but he's over protective at times. I'm not a child and he Adam both need to understand that."
"Adam just wants the best for you…so does Jason."
"I know they do…but I don't know whether or not I should get back together with him. I know that he knows that I still love him and it's possible to forgive him but I don't know."
"Forgive him for what?"
"Oh, well, a girl came over and he kissed her trying to get me jealous so I could take him back. In my opinion he acted on impulse and that can always be forgiven for. If he thought that he had no other option than that…he would go for it…don't you think?" I asked Star.
"It makes sense if you put it that way and as much as it pains me to say it… I think you should get back together."
"Really?" I popped my knuckles and wrists.
"Yeah…but not like that." She snapped. "Play hard to get and if he really loves you, he wouldn't th8ink twice about playing along."
"I'm in another state! Don't you think that's hard to get…especially if you don't know whichc one ot whether if I'm still in the country?" I laughed.
Starly gasped. "He doesn't know?"
I calmed down. "None of them know… Jason saw me leaving but he didn't follow me. I think I left him in shock but he doesn't know I'm here." I ran a hand through my hair.
"Brittany do you love Jason?" Starly asked me out of the blue.
"Of course I do…remember how he was one of the people that got me through the orphanage? I feel as if I owe him my life! I really do love him…faults and everything but my question is how could he love me? I'm nothing but a mistake." I sighed.
"You're not a mistake…people love you Brittany. Adam, Jason, me…and our fans."
I sighed again. "I know…can I ask you a question?"
"Sure, what is it?"
"Why do you think Mr. Smith…my dad, want me so badly?"
"I don't know Brittany…I'm not him, but let's not talk about him. Have you read any good books lately?"
I rolled my eyes. "I haven't found the time to read lately so no. You?"
"Yeah! Here…" Starly passed me a book. "It's about this married couple who have only been together for a few years. The wife keeps getting sick…to the point of death but she lives. The thing is, she keeps getting sick again and again and the hospital doesn't know why."
"Sounds good." I set the book a side.
"You're not going to read it?" She looked at me a little disappointed.
"No…no offence but I have bigger things to worry about and I'm too stressed to read."
"In that case…can I spoil it for you?"
"Knock yourself out." I leaned back against the head board of the bed.
"Well, it turns out the husband had been poisoning his wife with arsenic time and time again hoping she would die."
"Why on earth would he do that?" I brushed a piece of hair out of my face.
"Because…the wife had 2 different life insurances and he just wanted the money. So he get her...planned to kill her and since he was the husband, the money would go to him."
I suddenly had a light bulb moment go off I my head. "Starly can I go on your computer?"
"Sure, why?"
"I'm going to see if my theory as to why my so called dad wants me so badly…and I don't think it's because he loves me." I logged into her computer and looked up a certain cite I had in mind.
