For centuries, Shadow has been hunting down his vampiric twin Mephiles, even though he is one himself. In the course of his journey he allies himself with the strongest of vampire hunters. But his adoptive sister, Amy sees a change in Mephiles that everyone else refuses to see. What will become of these two Kings of a dying species once the battle is finally over?

37. Epilogue

-5 years later-

"Sonic, pick me up!"

"Sonic, piggy back ride!"

Sonic, Amy, and the twins, who had grown from infancy to childhood, were out walking and heading towards the tomb for a picnic. The youngsters were nagging at their 'foster father' for a ride.

"You know boys, maybe you oughta start calling me dad, now." Sonic said.

"Okay!" Satoshi replied.

"Okay Sonic, pick me up!" Aaron exclaimed.

Amy let out a giggle while Sonic rolled his emerald eyes.

"You crazy little kids..."

The twins let out their laughter as the 'family' reached their point of destination. To their surprise, they found a small bundle of purple morning glories tied together with a green ribbon.

"Who do you suppose-?" Amy inquired.

"Your guess is as good as mine." Sonic replied.

The hedgehog pair decided to think nothing of it, and continue with their day trip. However, the twins were more curious than their guardians.

"These flowers have a ribbon on them..." Satoshi observed.

"Don't touch them, they're your uncle's." Sonic told them. "Come on, let's eat."

"Lunch time!" Aaron cried excitedly.

"Yay, lunch time!" his brother piped in.

The petals of the morning glory blossoms fluttered in the breeze as the family began their picnic.
