HELLO READERS!

So this chapter talks a lot about smoking weed and getting high... now i personally do not think that there is anything wrong with weed, as long as it is used for medical purposes, but i wanted to show how someone could abuse it. I know that you can get addicted to it if you smoke it waaaaay too much which is what i really wanted to show in this. I hope that i did an okay portrayal of Serena's addiction...

So I officially know now that there is only two chapters left :(

Thank you guys so much for all of your love and support as we come to an end with this story.

And just so you guys know I've been working on another story that I really think you guys are really going to like! I just have no idea when I'll be able to post it... I wanna finish it before I start posting chapters

Thirty Seven

The anxiety Serena thought she would feel as she entered the gym was non-existent as she happily held Malachi's hand. They had placed their Home Coming Court votes at the door and had a good laugh when they saw Malachi was nominated for Home Coming King. Serena gave him her vote and hesitated when she voted for Mina. She made sure they stayed away from the punch bowl after how drunk she had gotten from last year and she didn't want a repeat of that outcome. She was truly happy with Malachi and their relationship was different than the sexual tension that she had had with Darien. She knew she wasn't ready for another sexual relationship without comparing them to Darien yet and she wanted to make sure she was fully over him before she moved on to that level with Malachi and so far so good.

Serena liked admiring how good her boyfriend looked in his black button down dress shirt and black slim slacks that fit him perfectly… but she kept comparing him to how Darien had looked last year. Malachi was slim compared to how muscular Darien was. She shook her head to rid herself of those thoughts.

'Maybe I need some punch' Serena thought bitterly but refused to let herself get any. They did smoke more than they usually did before they came to the dance and that had helped lift her spirits.

Malachi, however, was admiring how incredibly sexy Serena looked in her short black lace beaded halter dress that showed her perfectly toned back and legs. She had mentioned to him that Prisma was the one who had picked out the dress after Birdie and Catzi kept picking out some ridiculous pink dresses for Serena. He chuckled remember her telling him the story. He was glad that she was getting along with his friends but at the same time he didn't think that they were such a good influence on her. Serena showed promise when it came to academics and he knew that the girls were getting her to skip so they could go hang out at the mall and get high. He feared that she was smoking too much and he didn't want her asking if they had anything else that was stronger. He had seen plenty of overdoses at some of the parties that he went to that Diamond threw and he didn't want Serena exposed to that.

He was happy that Serena had dragged him out to the dance floor to distract him from his racing thoughts. The two dance to every song that played and while Malachi was having fun and enjoying himself Serena's fun ended when she saw Mina and Amy walk in. Amy had brought Zack as her date and Mina was going solo. She wanted desperately to go over there and say 'Hi' to them and then Serena noticed that she and Mina's favorite song had come on and she stopped dancing.

"Sere, are you okay?" Malachi asked when he noticed she stopped dancing.

"I want to leave" Malachi understood and they took a different exit out of the gym and left the school. "Can we go to that party Catzi was telling us about yesterday?" Malachi agreed and told her what to expect and what to stay away from when they got there. He also told her to stay close to him.

Mina had seen Serena and Malachi dancing and she wanted so badly to go over there and take him away from her. Serena belonged with Darien and Mina felt deep within her core that Malachi was meant to be with her… but she wouldn't do anything until those two were done. She didn't have the heart to steal her friend's boyfriend. So she tried as hard as she could to ignore the couple and have fun at her dance. A couple songs later she was crowned Home Coming Queen and Malachi was crowned her King but he was nowhere to be found and Mina was completely and utterly embarrassed and spent the rest of the dance on the floor in the bathroom crying while Amy tried to console her friend. Mina viewed this as a huge sign that she and Malachi were meant to be.

The first thing Serena went for was the liquor when she stepped foot into the party. Prisma and Saph were in the kitchen where they were serving the drinks and made Serena a strong drink they thought she could handle. Somewhere during the party Serena was able to drag Malachi into a bedroom and they were making out. She was trying to move forward with him but thoughts of Darien kept flooding her drunken mind and she pushed Malachi off when she felt him trying to take off her dress.

"I'm sorry, Malachi…I—I-I don't think I can do this" Serena said as she tried to fix herself and then left the party and waited for him at his car. She didn't have to wait long as Malachi chased after her.

"Serena what's wrong?" Malachi said as he came out and tried to hold her to comfort her.

"Malachi you're truly amazing and I'm so sorry I did that but I don't think I'm ready for it yet"

Malachi nodded his head understanding exactly how she felt, "Let's get you home Serena" Serena nodded her head and got in the car. The drive home was awkwardly quiet… the both of them knowing what this meant. Once Serena got home she ran up the stairs and into her room, crying herself to sleep and trying hard not to call the one person who she really wanted to talk to.

Mina was too embarrassed to go to school that Monday but her mother had forced her out of the house and she had nowhere else to go. Surprisingly no one had said anything and Mina had the entire cheer squad to make sure no one said shit to her or about her but when she saw Malachi the tears threatened to fall, so she tried to avoid him at all costs. And she was doing well until lunch when he had found her in the back of the library… again.

"What do you want?" Mina asked as she tried to work on her English assignment that was due later that day.

"I wanted to apologize for not being there for the King and Queen dance. Serena wanted to leave a little bit after you showed up and we left." He knew his apology was a waste but he felt a need to talk to her.

"Oh great that's good to know that you two left to go hookup. That's something I really didn't want to know" Mina said bitterly.

"Mina we didn't hookup… we were going to" he winced when he saw her anger but continued, "but we stopped before it got too far. I don't think she's over her ex and if I'm being honest I think I'm falling for someone else. Serena is a great friend to hang out with but she's not the one" Mina's eyes lit up at his words.

"I know she's not over Darien, she's loved him since they were kids, though it did take her a while to realize it." She said with a giggle, "Who is the lucky girl?"

"If I'm being honest…" Malachi looked deep into her eyes "it's you" he leaned in and kissed her. As he kissed Mina he felt every emotion fill him as sparks flew… nothing compared to when he kissed Serena.

Mina was on cloud nine but… "Please tell me you didn't just cheat on her right now?" she asked as she gently pushed him away to ask him.

"I'm pretty sure she dumped me Saturday night. She hasn't spoken to me since the party before I dropped her off at home but I'll make sure we're over" Malachi had shame written on his face as he just realized that he didn't actually know if he and Serena were completely over.

"Yeah you need to find that out because 'this' isn't happening again until you're single. Hurting her is the last thing I want to do" Mina said as she packed her things up and began to walk out of the library as the bell to end lunch rang.

Malachi felt his phone vibrate and when he read the message he was quickly rushing out of the school.

o.o.o.o.o

Serena skipped school Monday, she didn't want to see Malachi after Saturday night and completely ignoring him all day Sunday. She knew that they were done and she just wanted to come up with what she was going to say to him when she ended things with him. After what had happened between them she knew she wasn't over Darien and she was ready to take him back if he wanted to but he had a lot to prove it to her first. She would wait for him if she had to she just knew that he was the one for her and the only one.

She had texted Malachi during lunch to come meet her at the park whenever he had the chance and she was surprised that he didn't take that long to meet up with her.

"Sere, I got your text, what's wrong?" Malachi said as he sat down next to her on the bench by the lake she was sitting on.

"It's about what happened at the party…" Serena started "I—I don't think I'm over him Mal and I don't want to drag you down with me. It wouldn't be fair to you"

Malachi felt relief and he wasn't mad at her at all, "Serena, I care a lot about you but lately I've been thinking that we'd be better off as just friends… is that okay?" Serena slowly looked up at him with the brightest smile and tears of relief filled her eyes.

"I would love that Mal" she happily said as she hugged him tightly. "I'll admit that it was getting weird kissing you, you're turning into a brother type best friend to me" Serena said with a laugh and Malachi laughed, agreeing with her admitting he was thinking the same thing. "You know… you should go for Mina… honestly it's weird but you two just seem so perfect together"

"Are you giving me your blessing to go after your ex best friend?" Malachi asked stunned.

Serena laughed, "I wouldn't call her my ex best friend but yeah… I'm giving you my blessing. You're so weird" Serena laughed as she lightly punched his shoulder.

Darien was sitting in his living room staring at the payment conformation screen on his computer. He had just bought his plane ticket after taking the weekend to go over the pros and cons of going back home for winter break. After his talk with Andrew Saturday afternoon, which was Andrew's Friday night, he knew he needed to go back home and this was his only chance to try to get Serena back. Though school was going great for him, his social life was a chaotic mess. Girls didn't know what 'No' meant when drinks were involved and all he wanted to do was make friends and have fun that didn't involve one night stands. He did make the mistake with one girl where he got too drunk one night and did hook up with her. The worst part about it was that the girl was in his study group and she was his lab partner for two weeks until he asked for a new one. Her name was Anne and if Darien never had his relationship with Serena he probably would've tried a relationship with Anne but all Darien could think about was Serena when he wasn't thinking about school and his studies.

Darien had met Anne through Beryl, so he was sure Beryl was trying to set them up, and though Anne was a nice girl… she wasn't Serena. His need to be with Serena had outweighed all of the cons he had come up with to make him stay in America. If Serena had asked him to stay he would drop everything he had going for him here and move back home to be with her.

There was a knock at his door and Darien slightly closed his computer to then go answer it. Anne had left some of her books there and she stopped by to pick them up. He knew it was a poor excuse for her to come see him but he just let it slide. In a week and a half he would be back home with the love of his life.

"They're in the other room, let me go get them" Darien said as he let her into his apartment.

Anne nodded and made herself comfortable on the couch. She didn't like how her relationship with Darien wasn't set in stone and she left her books here just so she could come talk to him alone. She wanted to make sure that he was hers and that there was no miscommunication between them. Being the snoop that she was she opened Darien's laptop and saw that he had purchased a plane ticket to go back to Japan. She opened up another tab on the internet and checked his history and saw another purchase he had made. She quickly exited out of it and closed the laptop completely shut and then placed it back on the coffee table in front of her when Darien came back into the room with her books.

"Darien you know this isn't the reason why I came here, right?" Anne asked, hopeful that he wasn't blind at how desperate she was.

"Uhh… did you need the notes from class the other day too?" He really didn't want to have this conversation but he knew that it was bound to happen.

"I like you Darien, a lot, and lately we've been having this weird hook up relationship and I want to make it official" Anne said as she stood her ground.

Darien let out a heavy sigh and looked down at the floor as he rubbed his temples, "Anne, I don't have time for this. There is no 'us' and there will never be an 'us' okay? I've told you before but I guess I need to tell you again, I don't like you like that. We hooked up once and it was when we first met. If I wanted to be with you I would've had you by now. Can you please leave? I need to start packing for my trip"

"I hope you know I'm not giving up so easily" and with that said she left.

Darien rolled his eyes, not caring for what she had in mind to try to win him over… he knew nothing would work. Not unless Serena denied him and told him to his face that she never wanted to see him again. He was on a mission to get her back and nothing would stand in his way, not even Anne.

o.o.o.o.o

It had been almost two weeks since Serena and Malachi broke up.

It had been one week since Mina and Malachi started dating and surprisingly Serena was over the moon with joy for the new couple.

It had been three days since she had started talking to her friends again since because of the break up with Malachi it also meant she had to break up with his friends too but she made sure she bought a good amount of weed to last her a while before she had to see them again for a re-up. She was starting to feel happy again now that she was on slight speaking terms with Raye and Amy, Mina was still a work in progress.

It had been 1 hour since she had smoked and Serena was dying for another hit from her bowl. She had skipped school that day to get an early start on her winter break and since she would be around family most of the time she was taking this time alone to smoke as much as she could before her parents got home. But that wasn't the only reason why she was smoking so much, Serena didn't know if Darien was coming home or not and she was a nervous wreck. She didn't want to get her hopes up but more importantly she didn't want to think about it. Serena was sitting on her window seat, the window cracked open to blow the smoke out, getting ready to take another hit from her bowl when her bedroom door opened.

"Serena, what the hell are you doing?!" Andrew yelled as he entered into her room. Serena, high as fuck, placed the bowl and lighter on her desk and began to push Andrew out of her room but he fought her back. "Serena are you doing drugs? What the fuck is wrong with you? Did your boyfriend get you into this?"

Serena, still trying to push Andrew out, yelled back "Why would you care? You're never around anymore to know what's going on. You never call or text to show that you actually care. And Malachi is my ex-boyfriend, he's dating Mina now" Andrew let his guard down and Serena was finally able to push him out of her room, but she pushed him too hard and sent him tumbling down the stair case that was slightly in front of her bedroom.

"ANDREW!"

Serena could only watch as her brother tumbled down the stairs and smack his head harshly against the wall when he reached the bottom. She was too high to chase after him but she quickly grabbed her phone and dialed 911, "Yes I need an ambulance, I pushed my brother out of my room and he fell down the stairs and I think he's unconscious. He hit his head against the wall. Please hurry" after she hung up with the dispatcher, Serena went back into her room to finish smoking her bowl before she checked on her brother.
