"Mulan, get me some chips." Loki ordered, he sat in his favorite chair, and Mulan and Kitty sat on his couch they were engulfed in a Glee episode. Though one may think so, it really wasn't weird for the 3 to hang out without Eli, because of their history.
"You have legs." Mulan retorted, her eyes fixed on the TV screen.
Loki slumped his shoulders and glared at the redhead for a brief moment. "Kitty, get me some chips."
"Now why would I do that?" Kitty replied, stretching out on the couch, her legs pushed against her sisters, who just turned up the volume of the TV.
"I'm a god, you are a mortal. It just makes sense." Loki told.
Kitty pointed her thumb down towards the ground and made a farting sound with her mouth. "Bad reason. Zero points for Loki."
"Okay fine, fine. You should get me some chips because you love me." Loki tilted his head and batted his eyes.
"I also love the way my butt is sunk into this cushion." Kitty replied.
"Aw! Come on, I totally kicked butt at a really important audition and I think I deserve a reward for it." Loki said.
Mulan paused the show. "One, I really don't see the relevance of that comment. Two, your reward may or may not be a callback."
Loki rolled his eyes. "Can't you help a bro out?"
"We are helping you out Loki, if you don't make the very short journey to get those chips, you won't get the exercise you need. Seriously, you've been looking a bit chubby." Kitty told with a smile.
Loki gasped and put a hand on his chest. "How dare you! Everyone knows I'm the sexiest thing on this planet."
"Uh, no, are you Clint Barton? I know you're not because I can breathe right now." Mulan told. She and Kitty giggled.
"Fine. But get ready for some serious retribution evil twins, no bad deed goes unpunished." Loki warned as he got up to get his chips.
"It's not a bad deed; we're worried about your weight." Kitty laughed. Of course Loki wasn't chubby in the least bit, the girls just liked to tease him.
"I'm not chubby." Loki grumbled. "I was going to be a model, remember?"
He reached into his cupboard and pulled out some potato chips. "I hope you two want some, because I'm not giving you any!" Loki laughed maliously. He was one of those people who could be entertained by the small things.
His evil cackle was interrupted by a knock on the door. Loki rolled up his chip bag and left his bowl on the counter as he went to answer the door. He peeked through the peek hole apartment doors have.
"What do you want Thor?" He asked as he swung the door open.
"Hello brother, I uh, thought we could hang out. I brought pizza."
Mulan and Kitty sprung off the couch and retrieved the pizza. "You're my new favorite Avenger." Kitty told as she stole a slice of pizza.
"Oh so now you'll move." Loki said as Thor laughed.
"Come on in Thor." Loki allowed. Thor smiled wide.
"I got the idea from Bruce and Tony. They are having a 'science bros' day out today, so I thought I'd come see you." Thor told. He settled on the couch, which was a wise choice. (We all know how Loki gets about his chair.)
Mulan and Kitty exchanged a glance and stole one more piece of pizza before excusing themselves. "We'll leave you alone."
Loki and Thor sat in silence for a moment before Loki spoke up.
"I'm actually glad you're here." He told. Thor smiled.
"I'm glad we can be friends again. I've waited for a while for us the have the bond we shared as children again." Thor said.
Loki looked down to his hand. "Well, everything wasn't so complicated back then."
"I guess not." Thor replied. He hadn't really thought things were that complicated until he met Jane.
"Well, once I was old enough to feel the cold shade living under your shadow brought, I grew to resent you." Loki told.
Thor looked down at the floor. He didn't want his brother to hate him. "Do you still resent me?" He asked meekly.
Loki thought for a moment. "No, I have more important things to do. Besides, I hated you because I was jealous. Now I don't want anyone's life but my own." Loki decided.
Thor looked into his brother's eyes and the two held each others' gaze for a minute or two.
"It feels good to finally clean that up." Thor sighed. Loki smiled.
"Yeah, it does."
"Should we hug now?" Thor asked reluctantly.
Loki shook his head. "No thanks. Bros don't hug."
"Yes they do, it's called a 'bro hug'." Thor informed.
Loki rolled his eyes. "This bro doesn't hug."
Thor shrugged and traveled to the counter to get pizza. "You hug Eli."
"Ugh! No, Thor, this isn't how it works. I annoy you remember? Don't steal my job." Loki complained.
Thor smiled. "No one could do that job as well as you Loki." He told, shoving piece of pizza in his mouth.
"And good Lord, who taught you how to eat? You don't have to devour everything you know." Loki nagged.
Thor shrugged his mouth full of pizza. He swallowed before saying. "Have you gotten your callback yet?" he asked.
Loki shook his head. He was still fairly confident that he would get one, but it had been a week already, and he was expecting one by now.
"Well, I hear it can take weeks." Thor comforted. Loki nodded. He looked over at his fridge and saw a picture of him and Eli. He suddenly felt warm.
"Do you ever talk to Jane anymore?" Loki asked.
Thor was taken aback by the random question. "Uh, well, not really. It's safer for her that way."
Loki nodded. "Must suck to be a hero."
"Well, it's rewarding work, but dangerous." Thor replied.
"Don't you," Loki trailed off, wandering whether he should ask the question.
Thor looked at him "What?"
"Don't you, miss her? I mean, how do you do it?" Loki couldn't imagine being away from Eli.
Thor shrugged sadly. "It's just something I know I have to do. My love for her isn't safe, and I know it's selfish to put her in danger." Thor explained.
Loki stayed silent for a moment, so his brother could mourn his loneliness. "I bet are thinking about being separated from Eli." Thor broke the silence.
Loki nodded.
"You really love her don't you? Even though she is a mortal." Thor said.
Loki nodded again. Thor smiled. "I knew you'd find love on this planet."
Loki laughed. "I didn't think you would. I always thought you'd marry Sif." He laughed again, and Thor joined in.
"Make sure you really appreciate Eli while you can." Thor said after the laughter died down.
Loki gave him a puzzled expression. "I'm not leaving Eli. We'll be together forever. I know it; we're not like you and Jane."
Thor looked slightly hurt. "You'll have to part eventually." He said softly.
"No we won't okay? I'm not going abandon her or screw this up." Loki said angrily.
"Calm down brother, I didn't mean to upset you." Thor told.
Loki glared at him. "What exactly did you mean?"
"Just forget I said anything Loki." Thor said, not wanting to make his brother mad.
"Well I'm not going to, so tell me what you meant." Loki growled.
Thor sighed, his eyes downcast. "Um, I just was referring to the fact that you'll out live her my thousands of years." He whispered.
Loki slammed his hands down on the table. He had never thought of that before, and was furious that Thor brought it up.
"I'm sorry Loki, I was just trying to give you some advice, and I shouldn't have said anything." Thor said.
"No you shouldn't have." Loki growled. "What would make you to think I would need advice from someone who couldn't even maintain his relationship? What gives you the right to even think that?" Loki ranted.
Thor didn't reply. "Get out." Loki told, his voice packed with venom. Thor nodded and walked with his head down to the door.
"I wouldn't worry about the far future Loki. I just want you to make sure you're making everything you can out of the present and realize what a gift you have." Thor said before he left. Loki let out a loud growl. He went, opened the door, and slammed it just for good measure. Then he went on a rampage, flipping over his couch, hurling a glass at the wall and throwing whatever he could get his hands on. The he grabbed a beer from his fridge and went and sat in his bathtub, acting like nothing happened.
How dare Odinson. So typical. He just has to ruin everything. It's not even his business. Loki glared at the wall and took a sip from his beer. He and Eli had been dating for a little over a year, and he loved her with all his heart. To hear what Thor told him was obviously hard for him. He didn't want to ever live without Eli. Thor's words started to ring in his ears. I just want you to make sure you're making everything you can out of the present and realize what a gift you have. Making the most out the present. I can't take advantage of the time we have, I need to make it the best it can ever be. Loki sat straight up. He had an idea.
