Things Vash may have pondered, at least part of the time, during all the many years when he wandered alone.

Absolution
I walk away from a small town
And watch the suns go drifting down
So they can shine on the far side
Of this world's sandy deserts wide
.
Today I eased another's pain
That helps me feel alive again
It gives me hope for tomorrow
As onward through the sands I go
.
When suns sink low, I kneel and pray
For that young child I saved today
I ask for blessings on her life
That, henceforth, she'll see less of strife
.
Words I'd heard through a church window
Come back to mind; my head bows low
A preacher claimed that in Your word
Is a promise I'd never heard
.
God, was it truth, or did he lie:
"A contrite heart God won't deny"?
My sins, to me, seem too heavy
I'd no hope to find Your mercy
.
I grieve and sorrow for my sins
And truly wish to make amends
If he spoke truth, then please forgive
I'll search for ways to better live…
.
… And as I pray, a new peace comes
Are prayers still answered, 'neath these suns?
I thank You with a humble heart
This night, anew, my life will start

I do not own Trigun / Vash: he belongs to the amazing Mr. Yasuhiro Nightow.
Author's note: the preacher Vash heard was quoting Psalm 51:17
