It was late at night when I received a call from Jeremy.

"Hey." I replied, wondering if he wanted to have some pillow talk.

"Isobel just showed up here at the house." He told me. This definitely was not going to be pillow talk. "It gets worse. Jenna was there when I answered the door and she heard that I knew that Isobel was alive. She looked so hurt."

"Are you asking me for advice?" I questioned.

"No, but I really wanted to tell you. I also want to know why you thought it was a good idea to contact her." He replied.

"Because it led us to John and the dagger." I explained. "Thanks for telling me. I'll tell everyone in the morning."

In the morning I wore a dress containing several shades of blue as I told everyone.

"So who is Isobel?" My mother asked. I forgot that she didn't know about that part.

"She's Jeremy's biological mother." Damon explained. "How did this happen?"

"Isobel just showed up at the front doorstep." I responded.

"What is she doing here?" Damon questioned.

"I don't know. That's what Leah and I are going to find out." I answered. I still didn't trust her.

"How about you not tell that I'm here." Katherine replied as she entered the room.

"So leave then." Anna suggested. "Then no one will have to tell her."

"It's better if she and John didn't know that I stayed in town after I got out of the tomb." Katherine continued. Didn't John already know?

"You're the one in cahoots with them. You made a deal with John that almost got me killed." Damon pointed out.

"I did what I had to get out of the tomb." Katherine replied. She could have tried asking nicely. She never tried that. "Now I don't like them anymore."

"So in other words, you're going to sell them out like you sold my mother out." Anna replied. "I can't imagine why no one likes you."

"I am here if anyone needs me to pretend to be Elena." She remarked. I was pretty sure that would be the only time we needed her to be Elena. I mean I could have killed Jonas with the element of surprise too. We had other ways of doing it.

"You should call Ric." I suggested to my brother as Leah and I went out the door. "You can also deal with her and this."

At that moment, Caroline called me. I hoped that she didn't also have bad news.

"I can't find Matt. I told him that I was a vampire and he accused me of attacking Vicki and then I lost him. He's not at home. He's not at the Grill. I don't know where he is."

"How could you lose him?" I asked in disbelief.

"My mom walked in and he just took off." She explained. I didn't need this right now.

"Did your mom hear anything?" I inquired.

"No, she just thinks that we were fighting." The blonde answered. "But I've never seen him like this."

"I need you to find him and calm him down. Compel him if you have to." I declared. "Now would be a good time for him not to be on vervain."

"Well he hasn't had any recently." She told me. That was good news. "He's supposed to be at the Lockwood luncheon so I check there."

As soon as we got to the Gilbert house, the two of us told Jeremy and Elena the news. There could not be a seriously worse time for everything to fall apart.

"This is fucked up." Jeremy commented. "With this thing between Isobel and Jenna and now Matt, we're screwed."

Suddenly, John walked into the room.

"Jeremy, I need to talk to you downstairs, you too Sara." He stated.

"Well I don't need to talk to you." Jeremy declared.

"Please it's important." John begged. We headed downstairs and then came across Isobel. Fuck, he invited her in. It just got worse.

"I asked John for a do-over." She stated.

"You invited her in?" Jeremy asked in shock. "This is the woman who kidnapped my sister. What the hell were you thinking?"

"She has information about Rebekah. Please just listen." John requested.

"Alright, start talking." I demanded.

"Since I was last here, I've been doing everything possible to find Rebekah." Isobel explained. "I was never going to kill Elena because I didn't want to be on her hit list. We knew our best chance was to find him before he could find you."

"The best chance of what now?" Leah questioned.

"Elena's survival." John answered.

"You're not supposed to talk." Jeremy told him.

"Were you able to find Rebekah?" I asked. I guessed probably not because would like be dead if she had.

"No, nobody knows her whereabouts." Isobel answered. I had to imagine that someone did. "There are rumors of a new doppelganger though."

"Why should I believe any of this?" Jeremy replied. "The last time you were here, you couldn't care less about being a mother. Why would I believe you want to help?"

"Isobel's been helping for a long time." John answered. "Rebekah has been looking for Katherine for over 500 years. If any one of those vampires from the tomb had told her that she wasn't inside, it would be chaos. We had to kill all of them."

"But Anna knew she wasn't in the tomb and she never squealed." I pointed out. "Also how do you get the logic that she would come here?"

"You almost killed Sara, Damon, and Anna in the process and did kill the mayor and caused Caroline to be turned." Jeremy added.

"I have a safe house." Isobel interrupted. "The deed is in Jeremy's name. No vampires can enter, not even me. Please let me help."

"If you want to help, you can get out." Elena suggested.

I knew that while we were doing that, Damon was going with Anna and Bonnie to see if they could figure out the witch situation.

We met up at the house after everything was done.

"So do you think Isobel is telling the truth?" Elena asked.

"I don't trust anything that she says." I replied. "But we do need to be careful."

"You should stay here." Damon suggested. "It makes it easier for us to keep an eye on you."

"Any vampire can come in here." Anna pointed out. "It's been like that since you killed Zach."

"Maybe Sara and I can stay at your house?" Leah suggested. That was only a slightly better option.

"So is the plan for me never to be alone again?" Elena asked facetiously. No, it would just be until we figured out what to do about Rebekah.

"If you have a better idea I'd like to hear it." Damon commented.

"Okay, then Leah and Sara are coming with me to the Lockwood charity event today." Elena replied. "Jeremy, go with him to this witch thing to make sure that he doesn't screw things up."

I wasn't sure if Damon was capable of screwing it up. It seemed foolproof. Our mother was going to be at the luncheon as Mrs. Lockwood's guest.

"Are you discussing things without me again?" Katherine asked. No one said anything. "I gave you a moonstone, a werewolf and a dagger to kill Rebekah, but now all you have is the moonstone. You need my help."

"You can go now." Leah remarked. I wished that was possible. "If you want to be frank, the only reason we haven't killed you is because you're the only one that has ever seen Rebekah. The minute you stop being useful, you're dead."

Katherine pouted and walked away. I wanted to give Leah a high-five for being so badass. We still had to come up with a plan.

From there, we went to the luncheon. There first thing I noticed was that Matt didn't seem to be there. That meant there would be no killing two birds with one stone. Caroline then came over to us.

"Hey, did you find him?" I questioned.

"No. What if he tells somebody?" Caroline asked. "What if he tells everybody?"

"He'd had to have proof to tell everybody." Leah pointed out.

"We'll find him and make sure that doesn't happen." I promised. "We just have to finish this thing and then the three of us will help you. Do you know anywhere he could possibly be?"

"Matt never really ran before." Elena pointed out. "The only place I can think of is Vicki's grave."

"It wasn't supposed to happen like that." Caroline stated. "He was supposed to tell me that he was in love with me like something out of Twilight. Please call me when you're done. I'll go to her grave."

"You know maybe he'll come around." I suggested. "Jeremy did."

"Jeremy didn't get a chance to run." Leah pointed out. I had to admit that I would rather be at the witch house with Jeremy, but Elena was safer with me and Leah, even though if Rebekah did show up, we'd probably be screwed.

One thing that was annoying about being at the luncheon was that they weren't serving lunch until after the award was given. I was kind of inconvenient for those of us who were hungry and needed food to curb the cravings for blood. I hadn't had the time to go hunting today or drink from Jeremy with all of the craziness that was going on. So basically Jenna was freaking, Matt was freaking out which was causing Caroline to freak out and I was hungry.

"And here to accept the award for the Miranda Somers-Gilbert Charity Foundation is Elena Gilbert." Mrs. Lockwood said. Elena walked forward and began to give a speech.

"She looks so hot in that dress." Leah whispered to me. Suddenly there was the sound of someone falling down the stairs. Leah and I went over and saw that John was there. Why was John even at the luncheon? Pretty much everyone left the room except for Elena. I inspected John and noticed that he was dead with a neck wound, but he was also wearing his ring.

"He looks hurt bad." I told her, like I didn't know anything about medicine. I knew that playing dumb was the best not to get people to suspect anything.

"I've got it." She told me. At that moment, Leah and I went to check on Elena.

"Elena? Elena? Are you okay?" I asked as I saw the doppelganger in the room with a phone in her hand. I say the doppelganger because it was obviously Katherine. I needed to find out what she did to Elena, but first we needed to leave. I grabbed her and the three of walked outside.

"Tell Damon that he needs to move John somewhere else." I instructed. I wondered if Leah was able to tell as well. She should be able to tell the girl that she loves from the evil doppelganger. Once the opportunity arose, I pushed against the car. "Tell me what you did to her?"

Suddenly she stabbed me with a vervain needle. I groaned in pain. Leah tried to pounce, but Katherine broke her neck.

It was about an hour later when we were both awake.

"So how did you know it was Katherine?" Leah asked me.

"You really shouldn't tell Elena that you can't tell the two of them apart." I declared. "There are some things that Katherine can't copy, like Elena's birthmark, or breathing pattern. She also slips up when she tries to copy Elena's accent. Sounding Southern was something that she was never good at."

"How do you know all of this stuff?" She asked me curiously.

"Well I told that I stalked Elena the past summer." I pointed out. "Let's just say that the things that I learned were very useful. I had to determine that Elena wasn't Katherine after all so I also know the reverse."

At the moment, I heard Damon coming out of the house. He had John's body with him. I figured that coming out of the bushes probably wasn't the best idea even if there were a lot less people there. I also wished that people would stop making holes in my clothes. All of the sewing that I was doing was starting to get annoying. We headed back to the house and found that Damon was there.

"How did I beat you two home?" He asked. He then asked the more important question. "What happened to Elena?"

"Katherine kidnapped her." Leah replied.

"Oh no." Damon replied as he ran upstairs. "She took the moonstone."

This was bad. This was very, very bad. I didn't know what we were going to do. Bonnie was too busy with the witch stuff to help us. It was definitely a situation where the Martins being alive would be beneficial to us.

"We have to call Bonnie." Leah stated. "I don't care what she's doing right now. Katherine could be taking her to Rebekah right now and we need to find her. Also we definitely have to stop letting Elena get kidnapped."

"We can't call Bonnie." Damon argued. "That house doesn't have any cell reception. I had to leave the grounds when you called me. Also the witches there don't like me. And if we ever do this again, Anna needs to be with Elena because she can actually take Katherine. I know where Isobel is staying, so let's find her."

That led to the three of us going to the most expensive house for sale in town. Why couldn't Isobel just compel someone to her their house? That seemed like it would be just as effective. Maybe she didn't want to put that much work in.

We ended up finding Isobel's stuff, but no Isobel, no Katherine, and most importantly no Elena.

"Where are they?" I demanded.

"Why are you asking me like I know the answer?" Damon retorted.

"Well I want to hit someone right now." Leah replied. "I know who I want it to be, so you better hope that we find her quick."

After a little while, Leah got a phone call from Elena. It turned out that Isobel had found Rebekah because she had compelled Isobel to kill herself. Elena was in Grove Hill Cemetery. Leah quickly drove over to get her. It was at that time that I finally heard from Jeremy. They must have been really engrossed in that witch stuff they were doing.

"You know this was a very bad time for you not to be able to talk to me." I told him. "You're lucky that everything seemed to turn out because this could have been very bad."

"I'm sorry." He apologized. "So where is Elena now?"

"Leah's bringing her here." I explained. "Just get over here because I don't want to let you out of my sight anymore. We got lucky, but I don't want to take any more chances."

Once they got there, Jeremy began look over the necklace that Isobel had thrown off.

"You know I never thought I'd be upset that she was dead." He replied. "I mean I never liked her."

"She was your mother." I stated. "It doesn't matter how long you knew her, those feelings are there."

"Why would they let her go?" He asked in confusion. "Rebekah had her right where she wanted her. She could had Isobel deliver Elena right to her. Why would she not? What is there that we don't know here?"

"We can ask as many questions as we want, but we're not going to get any answers." I pointed out. "I think that we can assume that Rebekah knows anything that John told Isobel, so she knows that Elena won't turn herself into a vampire and that she won't run."

"Which is why we need some precaution." Damon commented.

"This is the deed to the house. It's in Zach's name, but we can get it changed over to Elena's." I replied. "Well we have to get it notarized, but we can do that tomorrow morning. Elena is definitely spending the night here."

"Are you seriously giving me your house?" Elena questioned as she entered the room.

"We need to be able to keep unwanted vampires out of here." I responded. "Isobel's safe house was a good idea, but we need to do it in a way that we have more control of. You'll be able to decide who gets in here."

"But I'm going to be super-pissed if you don't let me inside." Damon quipped.

At that moment, John woke up and Damon grabbed him by the neck.

"I swear that I had no idea what she was going to do." John declared in fear. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."

"Put him down." Jeremy ordered. "We need to talk."

A few minutes later, it was just Jeremy, John and I in the room. I was pretty sure that Elena was doing the deed stuff.

"I always knew that she and Katherine were close but I never realized that the two of them were working against me." John explained. "They were the two most conniving women ever and yet they were friends?"

"So why did you trust her?" Jeremy questioned.

"Because I used to love her." John stated. That I definitely believed. "At this point, I'll leave if you want me to."

"Look, you very well be the worst parent in the world." Jeremy replied. That statement was definitely debatable. John hadn't done anything to harm Jeremy directly or indirectly. "But the fact is that you're the only one that I've got. I do believe that you want to keep Elena safe. She's going to be staying here until further notice. As for me, I think I'm going to stay there. As a matter of fact, Sara is going to be staying with me at the house to keep me safe. If you don't like that arrangement, you can hit the road, but you are welcome to stay."

"So Katherine didn't know that Bonnie got her powers back." I told Jeremy after we were out the door. "That means that Isobel couldn't have told Rebekah."

"We have a secret weapon." Jeremy realized.

So Elena is staying at the boarding house and Sara is not. Also Isobel's dead which is good news. Please don't forget to review.
