This is dedicated to a certain special someone. Art-Of-Breaking has requested I write a RokuNami for the girl they like, so this is dedicated to her.
I hope you both like it.
I don't own Kingdom Hearts.
RokuNami Romance: Maths Class
Roxas did not like maths.
Rather, he hated it with a burning passion.
He wasn't good at it either.
At any rate, it all summed up to make maths class a place of living hell for the blonde boy.
He had no friends in his class, so he sat next to a girl called Namine, though he hadn't exchanged more than greeting with her for the entire term.
That is, until he got the results back from the practise test.
"45 out of 100!" he exclaimed quietly, glaring at his test in shock. He'd never gotten anything below a sixty before, even on maths. This was terrible. On the plus side, it was the practise test, so he had a little time to improve his marks, but he just didn't understand and he certainly didn't want to ask the teacher. Vexen had this look that he gave you when you so much as walked past him. He managed to make you feel like some kind of experiment in his laboratory, like he was just watching you and collecting data before making his next decision.
It was really freaky.
So no, Roxas did not want to ask him for help.
Curious, the blonde glanced at the test of the girl next to him and he couldn't help the look of shock that appeared on his face as he saw that she had scored full marks on her test.
"Are you some kind of maths genius?" he asked unthinkingly.
Namine blushed slightly, embarrassed at the sudden compliment and the sincere tone Roxas spoke in, "I just understand the concepts easily, that's all," she said, bashfully looking away and turning her sheet over.
"Well, I'm jealous; I got the worst score on my test," Roxas sighed forlornly.
Namine hesitated, glancing between the test paper and the boy holding it, "well, on question seven, it looks like you simply forgot to put in the brackets on your calculator."
He gave her a surprised look, "does that affect the answer?" the reply was an emphatic nod of the head. "Really? I didn't know that," Roxas shook his head, glancing down at his sheet again, "though it does make sense," he pointed to another question, "what about this one?"
Namine leaned in, looking through his working out for a moment before pointing to a particular line, "well, you see there, you-"
Namine was interrupted by a loud ringing, signalling the end of class.
Roxas could barely supress his groan. Normally he would be delighted – it was the last lesson of the day after all, school was over and he could go home now – but he was just beginning to understand maths and now he had to stop.
"If you want, I could tutor you?"
Roxas turned to look at the blonde girl who was now packing up her things.
"Are you sure? I mean, that would be great but, do you want payment or anything like that?"
Namine shook her head, "it's fine, I'm happy to help," and she gave the boy a small smile that made him pause, a sudden, odd warmth in his chest blooming at her sweet expression. Namine walked out of the classroom, waving back to him shyly, "let's meet up in the library tomorrow after school, okay?"
He nodded dumbly, waving back. It wasn't until she was gone that he realised how warm his cheeks felt.
He put away his things slowly, thinking on how kind Namine was and how he should have made an effort to get to know her better right from the start.
He couldn't stop the smile that pulled at his lips as he remembered he would be seeing her tomorrow for a study date.
Maybe maths wasn't so bad after all.
I had been thinking it was time for a sad one, but in the end I didn't.
Roxas is suddenly experiencing awkward emotions that he didn't plan on experiencing ;)
Haha
