The Goblin Legacy Episode Seven

Spider-Man gazed back at Harry tied to the wrecking ball. Using the minimal amount of space on the giant steel orb, Peter nevertheless kept his balance. But Peter still didn't understand. He did not sense any danger. Nothing impending or imminent.

"What do you mean?" Peter asked him.

"He's-He's here!" Harry gasped.

"Where?"

"Right here…"

His spider-sense immediately rung in his head and Peter turned around and saw a shadowy figure on top of the yet-to be made building. He stood on top of a hanging beam. Peter saw that the Goblin wasn't what he thought he was. He was large and imposing underneath that purple, billowing cape of his. 'He's different now!' Peter thought in amazement.

Inside the infrastructure, the Goblin gave a menacing smile. He made his way out of the darkness and into full view where he stood on top of the platform where he removed the robe.

"Come up here and face me man to man, Spider-Man!" the creature snarled.

Spider-Man immediately freed Harry's restraints but because the wrecking ball was in an elevated position. Peter motioned for Harry to stay put.

"Just hang on here real quick. This will be over in just a minute."

"But wait, what about-" But Peter ignored Harry and went upward on his way to the building.

Using the cross-bracings inside the building, Spider-Man swung from the X opening and into to the other opening, flipping upside-down and up, he made his way to the level where the Goblin was. They finally stood face to face.

"We meet again Spider-Man. It's been a long time…" the Goblin hissed. "My revenge will soon be fulfilled."

"You want to talk instead of fighting? Fine, I'll play. First off, what the hell happened to you? Finally hit the gym or wait…was it the steroids?" he mockingly whispered at the last part.

"I've evolved." The Goblin answered with a grin showing his fangs. "I've finally realized my true potential."

"I'll take that as a 'yes.'" Spider-Man replied. "Here's me being serious now: You caused a hell of a mess! You know how many people you almost killed in Central Park?" Spider-Man said outraged.

"They are irrelevant, weak and thus, do not belong in the world I plan to make." The Goblin stated indifferently. "The attack on Central Park was just to get your attention. It looks like it did judging by your petty emotional response."

"All this time beefing up just to whup my butt? I guess I'm flattered."

"You have no idea what I am. It was only by sheer luck and the mixture of chemicals in the proper proportions that brought me back to the world."

"Let me get this straight…you say you been in this world before?" Spider-Man asked with confusion.

The Goblin gave a nod. "Many eons ago before your human pals became residents of this world. I vanished all because of the presence of humans. Their arrival was a literal disease to me and my kind. I thought I had been extinct. But now…no longer. A scientist had made me again inadvertently. Because of my enhanced abilities, human beings can no longer harm me. I used a man to make me a better serum to make me more powerful and immune. I can do whatever I want now and the humans won't stop me."

"Wow…" Spider-Man then gave a mock yawn. "That's an interesting story but now can we get back to me kicking your green, scaly rear end?"

"I'm going to enjoy this!" the Goblin agreed.

"You do a good monologue by the way!" Spider-Man then posed for an attack.

The Goblin attacked first by sending out a wave of punches and upper cuts. His arms were big and Peter had a hard time dodging every single one. One punch connected with his face sending him flying into the air and hitting a rafter above. The hit was powerful enough to fracture a rib. Spider-Man clung onto the position he was in.

"Not like last time is it, you infernal insect?" the Goblin said down below. He came up with an orange orb in his hand and threw it. Spider-sense ringing meant that Peter had to get out of the way. He clung onto the opposite end of the room and saw that the object exploded tremendously.

Spider-Man shot a webline to the ceiling joist to avoid another bomb which almost hit him. He landed safely down and faced the dreaded Goblin again.

The news of the construction incident did not take that long to reach the officers. Reports were coming in by the second about what was going on at the construction site. George Stacy scolded himself for not realizing this beforehand. He was overthinking where precisely the psycho who called himself the Goblin was. The terrorist was closer than he thought.

He had set up map over map on possible locations as to where he might be. All points suggested he was far north, far south but never near the vicinity.

"I want a lockdown for that entire area, you got that? No one gets in or out without my say-so!" George Stacy yelled on the radio.

He clicked off his radio piece on his shoulder and began to hurry out when a dejected-looking Hutchson blocked his exit. George was agitated that he was being further delayed.

"What are you doing just standing there? In my way, no less? We got a situation here, now get moving!" George yelled.

"We can't sir." Hutchson said looking sheepish.

A familiar man suddenly appeared beside Hutchson. He gave a smug look to George. It was the mysterious man from the unknown government agency.

"Hello, captain. I think we'll take it from here now." he said simply.

"You don't tell me what to do! Now get the hell out of my way so I can take down that maniac!" George bellowed.

"You see…" the man stepped forward. "This is exactly what causes me worry. You're being too hasty. You're being too brash. And above all else, you're being too reckless. It took you a long while to realize that this creature named the Goblin was using the attack on Central Park as a diversionary tactic. One to get Spider-Man's attention. Believe me sir…you have no idea who you're dealing with." He said seriously. "You refuse to cooperate, I can make your life rather difficult."

"You already did. Why don't you just let me do my job? How many times do I have to tell you guys to stop interfering?" George said with a pleading tone.

"We deal with matters beyond a petty burglary sir. The entire police organization within this city is in no way trained to take down people like the Chameleon and Vulture, much less keep them contained."

"Oh my God…" George said looking annoyed. "You're giving those creeps pet names now?"

Ignoring him, he went on. "Since my authority overrules yours, I have taken command of this entire station, effective immediately." The man gave a warrant to George, who merely crumbled it up without taking a notice to it and threw it right behind him.

"Not a chance." He stated.

"Go ahead. Discard it. I have many more. They're a dime a dozen. I just want to make sure that you hold onto that warrant, Captain. We wouldn't want the United States Government to think that you're obstructing us. By refusing it, it means that you're not lending your cooperation."

Once again, George looked defeated. 'I really hate this man...'

"Now believe me when I say, I'm here to help you but you have to trust us." He then pressed a cellphone to his ear. "How's the Goblin situation?"

"He's still fighting Spider-Man sir, on top of the construction building." A voice replied.

"So how exactly, may I ask are you going to apprehend those freaks?" George asked.

"Sir?" the man said not understanding.

"The Spider-Man and the Goblin! How are you going to take them down?"

"We will take...the Goblin down when Spider-Man manages to subdue him. We don't see Spider-Man as a threat. Not unless we see that he is."

Peter shot a double webline to the Goblin's chest and launched himself forward where he held his horned face between his legs. With his fists, Spider-Man pummeled the Goblin with all his might.

The Goblin looked agitated and merely shrugged Peter off as if he was nothing. He hit a sturdy wall and went right through it. 'Well that hurt...' he thought.

Trying to get up as fast as he could was difficult given the general discomfort he was feeling. Pain was something Peter was used to but never to this extent. 'This guy's stronger!' he thought with worry. Suddenly he was in a headlock, with the Goblin holding his neck with both hands.

"What...do...you...want?" Spider-Man struggled to say.

"You dead! Along with all these humans or did your little insect brain failed to make you understand?"

With all his strength, with all his might, Peter launched a webline above to a random area and thrusted himself forward taking the Goblin along with him. They crashed to another level of the building above. The Goblin tackled Peter roughly in the chest. Peter hung on and tried not to move back. Spider-Man spun him around and once again they engaged in hand to hand combat.

The Goblin actually managed to hit Peter this time right in the face and right in the chin. Peter came back with his own. He sent in a cross punch with his left and one with his right. But the Goblin seem to laugh at the hits Spider-Man made. The Goblin came back as if nothing had happened to him and launched amazing kicks and punches to Peter's body.

The Goblin finally made a spinning kick that sent him out into the opening. Peter could feel the night. He was laying in pain on top of a steel bearer. He could hear the streets below.

A hand gripped his throat. Peter struggled to breathe. But he found it difficult. The Goblin's hold on him was strong.

"You're going to die, Spider-Man! Believe me, it's what you deserve. A meaningful death is better than what these people make you out to be, an amusement!"

Peter had to resent that notion. He thought he was special. Peter never thought he would ever use his gifts to his advantage. But lately Peter thought he was feeling a bit selfish when it came to dealing with crimes, with Gwen, and with his own personal life. 'I guess it takes an ass-kicking to see otherwise. I'm not all powerful as I thought I was.' The point was he was out of his league even with his own abilities.

"Never even crossed my mind!"

His flexible feet hit the Goblin's midsection which loosened his grip from him. As fast as he could, Peter launched web-splatter to Goblin's feet, rendering him immobile. Down below, Peter could hear vehicles approaching. He took a quick glance to see that some strange men in suits were coming up to get Harry. 'Something tells me he shouldn't go with those Men in Black rejects.' Peter thought.

'What should I do?' he wanted to say as he looked back from Harry to his foe. He had to leave and regroup. Peter felt blood trickling down his nose and despite the mask, the blood still ran. He needed to treat his injuries.

"Decisions, decisions." the Goblin sneered apparently indicating that he understood Peter's dilemma.

"We'll...we'll meet again." Peter said echoing the Goblin's past words.

"We will. I guarantee that." the Goblin agreed.

He launched a webline to a random spot above and moved his way on down. 'I can't believe I got my ass whuped.' Peter thought sadly.

As a man used a ladder to get to Harry, Peter swung by as fast as he could and grabbed Harry. He held onto Peter with both hands. "What the!" he cried out. Soon they were flying around the city. The people below told him to stop and cease. Peter ignored them.

"Those guys are weirdos, dude." Spider-Man told him. "I don't trust them."

"Where you taking me then?" Harry said as Peter launched another webline.

"Back home."

"No! No! Please don't! Anything but home!"

"Why? Why not?"

Suddenly a force slammed into Peter and both he and Harry landed on the roof of a random building. They both stumbled and rolled around on the ground of the roof. He continued to hang onto Harry making sure he was alright. On the edge of the roof stood a horrible figure.

"I told you we were to meet again!" The Goblin appeared once again.

Peter was astounded.

"Did you really think this was over?" he asked.

Peter's spider-sense was going crazy when the Goblin began to advance but then he saw a sympathetic Harry with a knife in his hand and with a blank expression that signaled that he didn't know what he was doing, stabbed him at the right side of his stomach with a dagger.

"Aah!" Peter cried.

"Very likely that you would save him. Your compassion for your friends will be your downfall, Spider-Man." the Goblin said.

In devastating pain, he saw everything spinning. Laying on the ground, the last thing he saw before he closed his eyes were Harry and the Goblin looking down at Peter. 'Mary-Jane...Gwen...' were the only people he managed to think about.

There wasn't a second that went by where Gwen wasn't thinking about Peter. Gwen couldn't concentrate on her workout at the gym and it was on account of a certain outsider named Peter Parker. She was completely satisfied that she got him to say 'yes' when she had asked him if he wanted to go to dance with her. She was euphoric and couldn't help but feel giddy. 'He's going to be mine soon enough.' she thought mischievously.

Closing her eyes as she was doing incline sit-ups, Gwen was living in her own fantasy at the moment. It wasn't a dream but Gwen felt that it was close enough. The fantasy was enough to tell her that one day it might happen.

She was standing right next to Spider-Man, his toned body and musculature made him very appealing and it was one of the qualities that Gwen admired about him. She walked gracefully to him and put a hand to his mask. Looking at him, she slowly pulled up his mask and with a quick yank, sure enough...it was Peter Parker, who gave a warm smile to her.

'I knew it was you...right from the start.' she told him.

'So what now?' he asked simply.

Gwen took his hand and led him away.

The environment changed to a large, elegant bedroom. Peter and Gwen were kissing slowly and strongly. She held onto his neck and head with both hands. He had moved her to the bed where he made his way with her. He nibbled at her neck. She soon began gasping louder and louder when-

Gwen snapped back to reality. She was still seated by the machine and was completely drenched in sweat. She looked around and saw that no one had seen her. Breathing heavily, she saw that no one had paid any mind to her whatsoever. The last thing she wanted was to be embarrassed. Playing over her fantasy again, it made her realize what she wanted from Peter.

'I want him to take me all the way.' she realized.

Going back to the locker room in a hurry, Gwen didn't know why she was feeling this way. 'Is this love or something else...' Rummaging through her locker as fast as she could, she took out her cellphone and began sending Peter a message. She wanted to go all the way with him. 'This isn't something I would normally do.' she thought.

She typed in the message, stifling a giggle with her hand.

'Hey Pete! Want to make out one of these days? LOL.'

Shutting off her phone, she tried calling him instead. There was no answer. 'As always.' She began to get worried.

"Come on, don't think like that Gwen." Gwen told herself. "It's not like he's dying." she said and went back to working out.
