Chapter Thirty Seven: Beware the Black Rabbit

"Now then…" Chains started to come out from the girls back. "Which one of you will be first of my victims?" She grinned evilly at both Raidy and BRS. Already Raidy had certain thoughts about what those chains could be used for.

"Before we start…" Raidy spoke. "May we know your name?" It seems Raidy's question hit a soft spot in their opponent. This confused the redheaded woman. "What? Is it something that I said?"

The other girl started to chuckle and then began to laugh. Both girls didn't know what was funny. She stopped laughing in a short amount of time. "That's a first. You're the first person who's ever asked what my name was. Most people instantly say monster when they see me. However you're the first to ask what my name is." Raidy was right about the soft idea after all. "As a reward, I'll tell and after that I'll kill the both you. Listen up well! My name is Alice the Black Rabbit! Remember that name when I send the both of you to hell!" Alice heard Raidy giggle. "What's so funny?"

The older woman let out another giggle. "It's just that I've faced a number of monsters with somewhat frightening names but yours is quite cute. It suits you."

Now both girls saw Alice blush. She looked at them angrily. "S-Shut up! Don't think compliments will allow me to spare your lives!" Even Raidy thought that threat was cute but she didn't want to say anymore. Cute or not, she and BRS are still in enemy territory. She drew her sword and pointed it at Alice. "Even if it's two against one, I'll still beat the both of you!" Alice sent out her two chains at the girls. Raidy avoided by going left while BRS dodged to the right and cut the chains with her sword. The older woman was about to make her next move but Rock beat her to the punch. She rushed over to where Alice was and both of their weapons clashed.

Alice grinned at what she saw. "That's nice a look you have in your eyes. You have done this sort of thing before." They disengaged and had a small amount of distance between them. Alice rolled her shoulders. "Well this will be interesting. It's been long time since I had a decent fight." Rock carefully observed her opponent. A blue flame erupted in her left eye and pointed her sword at her opponent. That caught Alice's attention. "That's a nice trick right there. Doesn't that hurt your eye though?" Rock didn't reply as she went toward Alice again. This time the other girl was ready.

She lifted her scythe and swung it horizontally but BRS went under and attempted to strike from below. However Alice jumped back and sent several chains from behind her back. Rock cut the chains with her sword and pulled out her cannon out of nowhere. This surprised Alice. "What the hell!? Where did you keep that?" The only answer Rock gave was shooting at the other girl. Alice ran to side to avoid being hit by the hail of bullets that was coming right at her.

Meanwhile Raidy was just looking at the fight. "Uh…did you forget I was here Rock?" Raidy felt like she was the third wheel here.

The rapid cannon fire was annoying Alice so she decided to get rid of it. With several more chains appearing, they started to make their way to Rock's cannon. They wrapped around the cannon and Alice stopped moving only to lift the cannon up along with Rock. "Let's get rid of this shall we?" Alice moved her scythe and chains followed the command. They started to move around wildly while Rock was still holding on. She made the chains slam rock into several trees but it looked like it didn't have an effect on the silent girl. "Jeez how durable are you?" Alice was about to send Rock into another tree when she saw something off in the corner of her eye. She turned her head to see Raidy with her sword covered with electricity and headed straight for her. "Damn it! I forgot about her!"

With no time to react, Alice used her scythe block the surprise attack but that was a poor decision. Due to her weapon being metal, the electricity was transferred to her body which resulted her being shocked. However that also resulted the chains she held sending the electricity to Rock as well as the chains were still holding on her cannon. With a final push, Raidy was able send Alice a few feet away from her. The other girl landed on the ground and lost control of her chains which resulted in dropping BRS. Unfortunately for Raidy, Rock landed on her. Both of them were on the ground now with Rock on top her which looked like they were in the sixty nine position. Raidy blushed at this. Rock got off her and stood up as Raidy did the same. She laughed nervously. "Sorry about that. You're ok right?" She carefully looked her friend see if there were any injuries. Some minor scrapes but nothing too major. Both of them saw Alice who was still lying on the ground. "I guess that attack was more powerful than I thought. I don't think she'll be getting up anytime soon. Let's go find the others."

Both girls turned around and started to walk away. "Where do you think you two are going?" Both of them stopped and turned around see Alice standing up. She smiled at them. "Ok I'll give you points for the sneak attack but something like that isn't going to finish me off and besides, I haven't even begun to fight seriously yet."

"Neither have we. Right Rock?" Raidy turned to the silent girl to receive a response but all she got as a blank stare. "In…any case, you have yet to see what we can really do."

Even though Raidy put on a brave face, she felt a bit uneasy. She fought monsters before in her "situations" with the same air of confidence but something about her opponent was throwing her off. "You humans amuse me. You think you're all brave but once you step inside this forest, your scared shitless. Well let me show you that kind of fear!" Wind started to blow away from Alice as a dark looking aura surrounded her. "Now you'll see why, I am called the Black Rabbit!" A pulse could be heard. Her eyes turned blood red and her body started to grow while letting out vicious growls. It was then they both saw Alice changing. Her skin started to go dark, her hair forming into something else. With a final pulse of wind, Alice's transformation was complete. True to what she said before, her new appearance was like that of black rabbit. She took in a deep breath and let out monstrous howl that could be heard throughout the entire forest.

B

Sora and Vanille heard that same howl where they were at. "What was that?" Sora asked.

"I don't know but it doesn't sound very friendly." Vanille stated.

Both of them heard laughing from their opponent. They wondered what was so funny. "So that rabbit did it huh? Whenever she transforms, that's usually the last thing for whoever the poor sucker hears before she meets up with demise." Sora and Vanille were now worried about their comrades.

B

"W-What was that?" Aisha was looking around trying to find where she heard the howl.

Fang on the other was smirking. "Well now, seems there are a few beasties in here. Wonder who's got it?" No matter how interesting Fang may thing that beast is, their first priority is taking out their opponent first.

B

"Ok. I've never heard that before. Where did that come from?"

"IF watch out!" Serah blocked an incoming sword with her bow sword. The attacking word retreated and turned back into hair as it returned to its owner.

"Thanks for that. Guess we can't let out guard down for second huh?" IF prepped her katars.

B

"Never have I heard such frightening roar in all of my life. Now I'm starting to wonder what I got myself into."

Erza put her hand on Agnes' shoulder. "You shouldn't be afraid. Right now we have focus on what's in front of us." Both women stared Blair.

The cat let out a quiet giggle. "It seems Alice wants to finish things up quickly. I can't let her have all the fun."

B

Jo was leaning against a tree when she heard that howl. As a rare sight, she smiled. "This place is everything I hoped for. Too bad I'm not the one fighting what made that scream. In the meantime…" A few shots that sounded like cannons rang throughout the forest air. Jo dodged them and pointed her guns at Seras. "I have to deal with you first!" Jo sent out a few rounds of her own.

B

Alice growled deeply at Raidy and Rock. Her blood red eyes glaring at them like they were prey in a hunt. Most monsters Raidy had fought before now paled comparison to what she was facing now. A lot them just got their kicks torturing young girls but this monster just wants rip her and BRS to shreds now. She saw Alice pick up her scythe with also increased in size and held it up high. Her eyes widened. "Duck!" Raidy grabbed Rock by the shoulder and the two of them fell to the ground right before the monster rabbit swung her scythe. The force of the weapon brought upon a strong wind that cut several of the trees behind them cleanly. Both of them stood up and saw the power Alice has now. This made Raidy realize the severity of their opponent. "One wrong move and it's over for the both of us." Now it was do or die. All of them were waiting for who was going to make the first strike. Alice jumped high into the air and then descended with her weapon ready to strike. Raidy evaded the attack to the left while Rock did the same on the left. Alice struck the ground and it shook with tremendous force while a cloud of dirt covered her. Rock didn't waste any time pulling out her cannon and shot at her.

Out of the dust came several chains and they wrapped around the cannon again as well as wrapping around her body. Alice jumped out of the dust cloud and into the air, taking BRS with her. She grabbed the chains her chains with her claw and pulled them back to put Rock even higher than her. All Raidy could do was watch as she was guessing what the rabbit's next move was.

Alice threw her chains hard with Rock at the end toward the ground. BRS hit the ground with a crash however Alice wasn't done yet. She landed feet first on top of her which made the ground beneath crack and shake. The black rabbit jumped off and landed not too far from the silent girl. "Rock!" Raidy ran to her friend to see if she was alright but checking how severe those attacks were, she didn't have high hopes.

"Don't waste your time." Raidy stopped running as she was surprised that Alice could still talk in her current form. "I doubt she's getting back up after that. Your next." Raidy took one last look at Rock and saw that she wasn't moving. She guessed those to attacks either knocked her out or killed her.

The redhead pointed her sword at Alice with electricity sparking out from her sword. "She's a formidable opponent indeed. My only chance at defeating her is with the Lightning Slash but that's going to take some time. I can only hope I can last that long." She began charging but Alice already made her move. She raised her scythe and swiped it down on Raidy. Raidy blocked the attack with her sword but she felt the strength behind the attack. "What…power…" It took all of her might just block the attack.

Alice noticed something about the sword. Last time her weapon came into contact with her prey's, she felt a shock going through but now she's barely feeling a tingling sensation. Alice tightened her grip and pushed Raidy away from her. The other woman was sent flying and hit the ground. Raidy stood back up while still holding her sword. "Not yet. It's still not enough." Alice went for another attack coming from the right side. Raidy managed to block that attack as well but her bones felt the force from that attack. She had to put all of her power in that block. Alice pulled a small tactic by one her hands letting go of her scythe and struck Raidy in the center of her body. The blow sent her over to the tree behind her. She slammed against the tree and slid down while still holding onto her sword. "Not…long…now…" Raidy slowly stood up with a bit of trouble. Her body hasn't felt this much pain before. "If I take…one more hit…like that…then…."

Alice glared at the injured woman. "I'm surprised you lasted this long but now it's over!" She raised her scythe high attempting to do the attack she did before.

Raidy looked at her sword and then to Alice with her weapon held high. "It can't end like this."

Just as Alice was about to attack, a powerful single blast hit her. Both Alice and Raidy tuned to see where that blast came from. They were surprised to see to Black Rock Shooter standing up with her eye alit once again. A little roughed up but standing and pointed her cannon at Alice. "You! How are you still alive?!" Her answer was another shot from Rock's cannon at the black rabbit and another one after that.

Raidy took that as a chance to quickly charge up her attack. Larger sparks started come out of her sword. "Perfect." Now it was time.

Another cannon blast hit Alice and she had enough. A chain came out and hit Rock. She rolled over on the ground but quickly stood up only to see Alice with her weapon up high again. "This time you stay dead!"

"Not if I have anything to say about it!" Alice turned to see Raidy with her sword covered in electricity. She raised her sword up high above her. The black rabbit tried to counter attack but it was too late. "Lightning…." Raidy swung her sword down. "SLASH!" A massive bolt of electricity was sent hurdling toward Alice. The last thing she saw was bright blinding light coming at her. A pillar of lightning with the sound of thunder appeared. Both Raidy and BRS had to close their eyes. Once the light faded, they opened their eyes. They saw Alice still standing even after she was hit from the attack. Raidy was afraid her attack wasn't strong enough to beat her. Alice stood only for a couple of seconds until she fell down on her back with a loud thud. She reverted back to her original form. It was a hard battle but Rock and Raidy had won their fight. Raidy gave out a sigh of relief and fell to her knees. She had never felt so relived to defeat an opponent such as the one before her. Rock's blue flame went out and she walked up to her friend. Raidy looked at her and smiled as she was glad her friend was ok. "I was sure you were out of the fight. Most people wouldn't recover from those kinds of attacks." As usual, BRS shrugged. It wasn't the first time she had attacks like those coming at her. She held out her hand to her comrade. Raidy happily accepted the offer. Rock pulled her back up on her feet. The older woman still felt pain all over body. "Never have I faced an opponent like her before. She was something else." Raidy looked at part of the forest. "But we're not out of the woods yet, uh no pun intended. We still need regroup with the others and find where Lightning is. Let's go." Raidy started to walk in a direction. "If what Fang said is true, we'll have an easier time navigating through here." Rock followed close behind. That battle was tough but it wasn't the same as another scythe wielder she clashed before time and again. Just thinking about her made Rock's hands clench tightly.
