Thank you to jokermask18 for the prompt , the story behind the Kataang family photo
"Bumi, stand still!" Katara's irritated voice stops the boy's foolish motions, and she closes her fist around the back of his jacket pulling him to her. A quick slash of her free arm freezes Kya wear she stands, locking the puddle her daughter had been standing in to ice.
"Mom!" Kya wails, breaking free after a few seconds of her bending.
"This is a very important picture, Kya. You'll thank me for this sometime," Katara says, smoothing back her daughters hair.
"It's very important we take advantage of this new technology," Aang says. He walks towards them, a squirming Tenzin in his arms. Pressing a kiss to the bald head, Aang hands their son to Katara and ruffles Bumi's wild hair, "Come on guys, after this we can go for a ride on Appa."
"I call tail!" Kya shrieks.
"No fair!" Bumi sticks his tongue out.
Katara quickly stops the argument, "why don't you both take a ride on his tail?"
Aang sends her a quick, worried look, always the cautious father, afraid of putting their children in danger, but Katara has nursed enough scraped knees and bruises to know that their oldest son and daughter know their limits when it comes to safety. She smiles at her husband to reassure him, and Aang laughs a little.
"What's so funny daddy?" Bumi, always eager to interact with Aang, spins around and tugs at the hem of his father's robes.
Aang smiles down at his son, "Just your mother, kid. She's the funniest."
"Yeah," Bumi smiles a toothy grin, tossing back his wild hair. "She's the best."
Katara quietly basks in the compliment, and gently turns her son around, "smile for the camera, Bumi."
Bumi throws up his arms dramatically, and they are all still laughing when the picture is snapped.
