Symmetrical Love
A series of drabbles about Liz and Kid and their relationship. Each Drabble will bounce back and forward through their relationship. Updated when I get an idea.
Chapter 37: New Lord Death
Kid stood tall, he had taken over his father's duties and become the Grim Reaper to the world. He was now in charge of the school, the weapons and meisters and was working on normalizing relations with the Witches. It was a lot of work but luckily he had a lot of help.
It was still a lot of work, meeting with witches, meisters, weapons, and world leaders. He had to do a lot of work to keep things running around the school, setting up all the missions for the students and which missions would go to the senior teams.
The world certainly seemed to have taken notice, people were calling him the more Human Reaper. He was much more down to Earth and more human than his father. He didn't go for the kill notice as quickly as his father had. He was more willing to trust people, that they could do better, that they could redeem themselves, that they deserved to control their lives more. Kid was also more willing to put trust in people.
Still sometimes he had to wonder what his father would think.
Kid often found himself looking into the mirror, sometimes he wanted to write the numbers on the mirror and talk to his father but he knew that wouldn't work. His father was gone.
As he looked into the mirror he saw the three full stripes in his hair. He remembered his father's sacrifice and he knew that his father had trusted him with the world he had put so much work into.
Kid knew the world counted on him. It wouldn't be easy but he'd to not only meet the standards that his father set but as impossible as it seemed he'd have to try and do better.
Too bad Kid knew he couldn't be as funny as his father. Kid had his moments but he was mostly funny by accident. Still he often worked for a long hard hours.
He sat in his desk in the death room, even after all this time it still felt strange to call it his office.
Kid stood up and looked into the mirror and he hoped he could truly live up to all what everyone thought he could do.
He looked at the mirror and saw himself with the cloak that was once his father's around him.
The he noticed his cloak shifting and as he looked down he noticed two small faces looking at him.
"Daddy!"
Those two little boys were Pax and Mortimer whom everyone called Morty. Obviously Kid was the one to name them. They were small boys with bright green eyes and short black hair with those three familiar half white lines. They were almost exact doubles, which makes sense for twins but their lines were on opposite sides of their heads. They were only a little more than a year old but they were energetic and curious about the world.
Both of the twins grabbed at the end of his cloaks and just tugged at it.
"Hey Kid." Liz was walking down towards him with Patty by her side. Liz smiled at him as she lead hers and Kid's children along. "The kids wanted to see if daddy wanted o get lunch with us. Morty and Pax just got ahead of us."
"Yeah, come along Daddy." The young little Angel smiled at her father pleading with him to come with them.
Kid smiled taking his twin son's hands in his hands. "Okay, let's all go get lunch."
Kid walked towards the rest of his family. Liz and Patty were already leading on the rest of kids down the path back into the school.
Kid knew that it was hard to be a good father while also dealing with all the responsibilities of being the world's grim reaper but he is certain he wouldn't he wouldn't fail. He honestly thought being a father and having a family made him better at being a reaper. They helped remind him what it meant to be human, the struggles and joys and ultimately that helped inform his decisions as the reaper.
Authors notes: Okay, this is my idea for Kid being Lord Death. I think the idea was always for him to be more human that Lord death. He would end up relaying on people, willing to make compromises and changes his mind and just being more patient. And he'd still have to take care of the world as best he could I think him being a father would really inform that. So leave me a review telling me what you think.
