Chapter XXXVIII: That Shinigami, Revisited
Alex yawned tiredly as she walked out of the bathroom while drying her black hair with a navy blue towel, Alex wore black knee-length shorts, an unbuttoned white dress shirt with sleeves that almost covered her hands over a black bra. Alex stretched her arms above her head followed by cracking her back, 'Nothing's better than a nice hot bath after a day of reaping souls.' The young reaper thought to herself.
After drying her hair with the towel, Alex folded the towel and placed it back in the bathroom before stepping out of the bathroom and buttoning up her white dress shirt "Meow," Alex's visible yellow-green eye shifted to the black cat on her bed, The cat mew'd as his tail laid lazily behind him "Meow,"
"Truth be told, you certainly make an annoying cat." Alex muttered under breath as finishing buttoning up her white dress shirt, the young reaper walked over to her wardrobe and opened it.
"Hey!" The cat hissed telepahtically before shifting back into his regular form "That hurts my feelings," Leon whined. Alex ignored him as she grabbed the black corset, she slipped it over her mid-section and began tying the laces on the back "So, what's up with the nice clothes now?"
The black-haired reaper turned to face Leon while tying a black tie around the collar of the dress shirt, "I'm just going out to the human world, I asked Grell if wanted to go out for dinner."
Leon frowned, "Yep, you're certainly in trouble." The neko demon laid down on his back. Alex sighed, and he goes bringing him up again "You should know better," Leon 'tsked' her.
"Does it look like I care what he thinks?" Alex asked in a calm tone, "I already told Grell that I love him and there's nothing that's going to change how I think." Leon chuckled "Look at you, you haven't found anybody that loves you."
Leon sat up and glared at Alex with a scowl, "Hey! Watch it! It takes time for a certain feeling to bloom." Alex rolled her eyes as she walked over to the door, "I think it's time to end your little game, Alexandria." Alex stopped in her tracks, "Keep this charade going and you'll eventually have every damn shinigami learn about your true self. Think about it, the shinigamis and demons hate each other enough...but when the shinigamis and your lover learn about your game, war will start between us and them. It's impossible for a supernatural being to get out of this realm without having an army of yellow-green eyed freaks after you."
"..." Alex went silent, her hand fell from the doorknob. Leon's words gotten to her now, what will happen when her act is blown? She'll have nowhere to go besides back to the estate. The young reaper turned back to the neko demon "That won't happen as long as I play my part carefully. My decision stands and I'm going not back." Alex's eyes quickly flashed a hot pink color with slitted pupils before returning to the shinigami yellow-green color.
"Geez, you're such a hard head when it comes to decisions." Leon muttered under his breath "If talking to you won't change your damn mind then I guess I'll try another approach that I had in mind."
"What approach?" Alex demanded as she balled her hands into fists.
Leon waved his hand in 'shoo-shoo' motion, "It's nothing too drastic...just a simple conversation with someone that truly cares about you."
"You wouldn't, you damn cat!" Alex seethed.
"Would I?" Leon asked innocently as he shrugged his shoulders, he smirked "Yes, yes I most certainly would. Better find your lover, little kitten." The neko demon chuckled bitterly, "Your act is going to end right now." With that, Leon disappeared.
Grell's POV (3rd person)
Grell sighed, multiple stacks of paperwork were piled onto his desk by William "Disappointing really, Sutcliff," said William as he adjusted his glasses with his death-scythe.
"But Will! I'm going out to dinner with little kitten in 30 minutes~!" Grell whined childishly, "What's better is that it's our first date~!"
"Well then, I suppose you should not have slacked off earlier during the day when there was an explosion at the East End of London." William countered back against Grell's complaint, "It was your job to reap those 30 souls."
"Working women to the bone is not agreeable, Will~!" Grell whined even more as he stood up from his black rolling chair "For your information, I had an appointment at a salon to go to for a manicure, pedicure, and an up-do~! I have to look beautiful for my little kitten~!"
Grell yelped as William smacked him on the head with his death-scythe "That's enough complaining, Sutcliff, as soon as you finish these paperworks, you can go out but make sure that nothing happens to Ms. Blackwood." He narrowed his eyes at the red-head, "Ms. Blackwood went to the infirmary two times before with crucial injuries and I don't want that to happen again. Especially that time after she ran after that neko demon and came back with more bandages."
"What's this~?" Grell grinned at William's lecture about Alex's safety "Is Will becoming an overprotective daddy~? Like Mr. Waters~?"
Again, Grell yelped in pain when William wacked him on the head with his death-scythe "As much as those words sounded inappropriate, Ms. Blackwood is like a daughter I never had- except with the complete opposite personality as mine." William shifted his eyes back to Grell was eyeing him with his damn fake eyelashes and crazy grin, "However, if I found out that an offspring of mine is going out with an idiot like you...I would kill you because you're a bad influence."
"Now that's just completely unfair~!" Grell whined then he grinned, "How about an offspring, love~?"
"Control those words that come out of your mouth, Sutcliff. One of those words might get you demoted...again." William said with a very disapproving tone. Before the shinigami supervisior left the office, William slammed his death-scythe on Grell's head for the third time already "Get to work, Sutcliff, otherwise you'll miss your date with Ms. Blackwood."
"I didn't know you cared about my relationship with little kitten~!" Grell called out to him.
"All I care about is Ms. Blackwood's life and that's it." William replied as he shut the office door behind him.
Grell stuck out his tongue, he tossed some of his red hair over his shoulder before plopping back into his black rolling chair "This is a waste of my precious time! Not only was I able to get a medicure, and a pedicure but I still have to find something nice to wear for the date."
"Is that so, Loverboy?" A pair of crimson colored eyes with slitted pupils suddenly appeared right in front of him, Grell blinked at the person whose sitting on his desk indian-style. A pair of black ears and swaying tail caught Grell's attention "Me~ wow~" Grell nearly had a nosebleed "So, you're Alexandria's lover, Grell Sutcliff."
"You're the neko demon from before!" Grell pointed out, what really caught the crimson reaper off guard was the neko demon's looks...he looked like Alex except with shorter black hair, crimson colored eyes, black ears and a black tail. The neko demon wore a black unbuttoned jacket over a black vest, a black dress shirt with a loose black tie around the collar, black trousers, and black dress shoes "Y-you look like little kitten!"
"So you obviously now know~" The neko demon said cheerfully. An uncomfortable shiver ran up Grell's spine, what happened to that murderous personality that this cat had before when he tried to kill Alex several times before? "As you should know, reaper," The neko demon's black tail wrapped itself around Grell's neck and its grip began to tighten.
"Ah...!" Grell gasped for air as the tail's grip continued to tighten.
"I have something really important to tell you...it's about your little kitten." The neko demon grinned "Something that will change your perspective about her."
A/N: I'm sucker for creating the most hated cliffhangers~! ^^; (You must be hating me now) What 'act' is Alex playing? What's Leon going to tell Grell that involves Alex? How will Grell react to the news!? Will the author quit adding more damn questions that seem very confusing!? Hehehe~ who knows~! ^^ Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed the chapter and the great suspense that I left you guys with! Until the next time I post another chapter~!
