HOSPITAL WING, HOGWARTS – McGonagall, Slughorn and Pomfrey kept trying despite the hopeless diagonostics, they doubled the dosage of blood replenishing potions, vitamin and nourishment potions which were administered through IV bags, down the IV lines and straight into Harrys blood stream. Emmett stood outside the door Harrys private chamber, he watched Edward sitting next to a sleeping Harry. By now Harrys lungs, thought still working, were slowly failing and was having trouble breathing.
Edward held Harrys hand, he kissed it. "Please don't leave me Harry…" he begged.
Emmetts dead heart was exhausted, emotionally. He'd been like that since Caleb was attacked and even though Caleb was recovering, unlike Harry, seeing his mate in a coma was still hard to stand. He was heartbroken for his brother, Edward, he was heartbroken for his brother in law Harry, he was heartbroken for their family and friends who were completely impotent to help. He turned and walked down the hall towards the main Hospital Wing.
MADAME POMFREYS OFFICE, HOSPITAL WING, HOGWARTS – Emmett walked into Madfame Pomfreys office. The school nurse was buried in a swarm of books with Carlisle, Alice, Jasper, Neville and Horace Slughorn. Potions were brewing nearby, they were reading, studying and trying everything to slow down the inevitable. Rosalie Felix sat on the couch next to the diamond pane window comforting Esme who was on devastated. He sat down next to Felix, the Italian vampire had come to love his new family and to see it breaking apart scared him as it scared everyone.
"We were so happy a few weeks ago." Wept Esme. "We had the most beautiful wedding in muggle and magical history and suddenly in a matter of hours it all changed…" Jasper walked over and sent her waves of calm. "Thank you Jasper." Jasper sat down next to Emmett.
Rosalie hugged the Cullen matriarch. "I love you mom."
Esme hugged her back. "I love you too sweetie."
Then a fearful thought hit Emmett, Jasper felt it. "What is it Emmett?"
Emmett buried his face in his hands. "What are we gonna tell Caleb and Draco?" Esme gasped. "Oh my…"
"What will we tell them when they wake up?" asked Emmett. "How will we tell them? How will we tell them that Harry died?" He rocked himself back and forth. Esme put her arms around him. "We all know of their tempers, their fury and rage. We've seen it in Forks and later in the Dark Forest. To have them know that this all happened, that Harry died here, right under their noses while they slept in magical comas…" He cried. "This will kill them…"
Carlisle though still stunningly handsome felt as if he'd aged 100 years, he hadn't stopped reading and studying and hypothesizing theories and cooking up multiple potions in one to try and delay Harrys inevitable doom. "I…I still don't understand. Harry is a newborn vampire, he's the most powerful newborn I have ever seen. He's a vampire but he's kept his magical core, that's something that will not change even when a full vampire. How can it not be helping? How can these babies be doing this to him?"
McGonagall looked up at him from a large book. "As you know, newborn vampires are strong yes, but they are also vulnerable during their first 6 months while their bodies are still in transition into their final full vampire form." Carlisle sat down across from her to listen. "Hence their super powered strength, which is stronger than fully turned vampires, and uncontrollable thirst for blood. This is doubled when it comes to wizards turned by magical inheritance…" She took a book called THE EVOLTION OF VAMPIRES by FAWN PITMAN. Everyone walked over to the table and sat down to listen to her. "…In regards to the babies…" She took a breath. "…They were conceived inside the body of the most powerful wizard of his time with the sperm of a strong full blooded vampire. The love potion Harry gave Edward strengthened Mr. Cullens sexual appetite, desire, strength, as well as his reproductive fluids. When released into the rectum and mixed with Harrys power it immediately magically conceived the babies and changed Harrys body, enabling him to carry and birth the children. The babies acquired the best of their parents natural and supernatural DNA and by the time they set into their magically formed embryonic sacs they were half wizard and half full blooded vampires…Making them stronger than Harry, who is still a newborn vampire himself… Maybe they are too strong and Harry body is rejecting them trying to naturally abort them and they are latching onto Harrys magical core and newborn vampire system to keep on living, maybe they are unstable and weakening and Harry is magical core and newborn vampire system is giving them everything he has so they could live at the cost of his own life…" She closed the book. "I don't know…" She looked around. "Where are Hermione and Luna?"
"Emmett?" asked Felix. "You saw them earlier tonight…?"
"Yeah. They went into Harrys room after he and Edward fought." said Emmett. "They spoke alone with Harry, in private…"
"What did they talk about?" asked Jasper.
"I couldn't hear." said Emmett. "The room was charmed."
"They put up silencing wards." said McGonagall.
"All I know is they were in there for around an hour." said Emmett. "They came out, I asked them if there was something wrong. All they said is 'they had something important to do for Harry.' and they left in a hurry."
Jasper turned to Alice. "Alice, can you see something?"
"No." said Alice. "They have blocked my visions. When I focus on them it's like I hit a wall."
"Occlumency Charms." said Horace.
"What is that?" asked Felix.
"They have magically sealed off their minds to all of us. Those two witches are two of the strongest occlumens of our year." explained Neville. "Harry chose them precisely because of that. Whatever they are doing it's in absolute secrecy." Everyone was quiet as a small spark of hope lit up inside them. "What are those three up to?"
GRINGOTTS, DIAGON ALLEY – The mine cart raced down the mine tracks and stopped hard. "Vault 787." Called the goblin. Hermione and Luna got out and he raced off back up to the main bank upstairs.
POTTER VAULT #787, GRINGOTTS, DIAGON ALLEY – Hermione walked up to the Potter Vault #787, as lady of the Most Noble House of Potter she had full access to all the family vaults. She inserted the 4 inch long gold skeleton key and turned it. The dozens and dozens of door locks unlocked, snapping and clanking open, and the vault door opened. "Ok. Luna." They walked in.
Both witches chanted. LUMOS MAXIMA." Their wand tips magically lit up bright, lighting up the huge vault.
Hermione looked around. "You know where it is. Get it, quick!" As Luna ran off into the depths of the vault she stood there. "Hang on Harry…" she begged.
***What did they get?! … I hope McGonagalls explanation helped clarify the role of babies and their connection to Harry, even a little.
