CHAPTER 37

TRIS POV

As we walk into the pit, the air feels familiar. It's good to be back home. Tobias carries his luggage with one hand and hold my hand with the other. Behind me, Zeke keeps talking and talking while he carries my bags, but neither Tobias or I are really listening. We are both trying to take in our surroundings as we walk through the place I know both of us missed a little.

After we settle in our apartment, Zeke and Tobias leave for a drink, and I walk down the few hallways that separate my apartment from Christina's. I knock on her door and wait a few seconds before she opens.

"Oh my God! Tris you're back! I've missed you soooo much, come in!" she exclaims as she pulls me into a bone crushing hug. We walk into her apartment, which as always is covered in clothes and smells like a fresh sweet perfume she wears everyday.

We sit in her bed and she automatically starts asking tons questions "How was it? Did you have fun? What did you do? Did you like Candor?"

"Whoa" I say with a laugh "One question at a time! But yeah, I did have fun, a lot of fun. It was good to get way for some days cause, you know, it was just the two of us. We completely disconnected form the classic Dauntless chaos and it was so peaceful and so... romantic." I say with a small smile.

Christina looks at me with a sneaky smile.

I frown at her "What?"

"You have that glow" she mumbles as she flashes me a big smile

"What glow?" I ask with my eyebrows raised.

"Don't play stupid, the sex glow" she wiggles her eyebrows in the last part and I can feel myself blushing. She doesn't give me a chance to answer "How was it?"

"It was...great" I say as my eyes drift to the floor.

"Did you do it a lot?" she asks casually

"Yeah...abnegation was... wow. " I don't know why I'm spilling this stuff. I usually prefer to keep things like this to myself. But Christina is very persuasive with her questions.

"You didn't have sex in abnegation?" she sounds surprised

"No! We...did it a lot in abnegation! And it was so weird because my parents's house was across the street. I didn't mean for it to be that way, but since we didn't have much to do in abnegation, we just... you know, did it a lot." I confess. I feel the heat in my face, I must be blushing like crazy. But word vomit has taken over me.

"I suppose you were...careful?"

"Of course! It's too early for a little Tobias or Tris to be running around. Speaking of that, how's Florence?"

"Oh! She's having a boy and a girl! Can you believe it? Uriah is sooo happy. We are meeting tonight with her and the other girls, we though about clubing, but we are having a meeting here instead, there will be tequila, so be here early."

"I will" I say as I leave her apartment. I need to talk to Tobias, I have decided to tell him about the two events I have kept form hm, Monic kidnapping me and Jeanine asking me about divergence during dawn. If I keep this longer, he will be mad when he finds out, but I'm sure he might understand me if I tell it to him now. I didn't tell him about any of those things because it just wasn't the occasion, I didn't want to disturb our honeymoon with such news.

I get to the apartment and just sit in a couch, rehearsing what I'm going to tell him. About ten minutes later, he comes back. "Hey, I though you were still at Christina's" he says as he sits next to me.

"Yeah, I came back because I really want to talk to you. I know we have to be completely honest with each other. So there are some events I gave to tell you about." I take a deep breath "The day of th wedding, I was getting ready at Christina's apartment, and I was on my way here to get my shoes, when Monic and her friend, Lila grabbed e from behind drugged me to make me sleep and took me to the factionless sector. I woke up on an old storage room, a factionless woman helped me escape and I was able to come back here just in time." I don't wait for his answer, I just keep talking. "And... one night while we were staying at erudite, I heard someone knock the door. It was Jeanine's assistant, who she sent to pick me up and take me to her office to talk. I went just to avoid trouble, and Jeanine wanted to seal a deal with me so I can report divergents next year while we train the initiates if I detect one among them." I finish talking and just stare at him, waiting for a response.

He looks shocked and confused. "Why didn't you tell me about it before?" he asks with s mix of anger and sadness. He is frowning a little, and the expression in his face makes me feel so bad with myself, I should have told him about this before.

"Because I wanted us to have a good time during the wedding and the honeymoon! Please, understand Tobias, My intentions were to eventually tell you, I swear." I feel like crying

He doesn't answer. I let out a sigh "You can be mad if you want to"

"I know, and I kind of am, actually" He says as he stands up and leaves the apartment. He doesn't look angry, just frustrated. I think about going after him, but it would be useless. I lean against the wall and a tear rolls down my face.

FLORENCE POV

Uriah's mom, my mom and I are out shopping for baby stuff. Hana is a very nice woman, it was hard at first for her to acknowledge that his younger son got a girl pregnant, but she has accepted it by now. My parents were really comprehensive because they went through the same situation when they were teenagers, I was conceived when my mother was 18. I just turned seventeen a few months ago, so it's practically the same thing.

We have already been to about five shops, they are both picking clothes and toys and room decorations like crazy. I think it's a bit early to be buying so much stuff, but I just keep quite about it. Both of them are very excited. Each of us is carrying about five shopping bags since we have to buy two of each thing, twins imply buying a lot of stuff.

When we are finally done for the day, I drop all the stuff in the apartment and check m watch. I need to be at Christina's place in about half an hour. We are having a reunion to welcome Tris. I change into a simple black cotton dress and braid my hair. I don't feel like fixing up too much. Just as I'm about to leave, I walk into the kitchen to drink some water, the smell of food fills the air, probably pizza. It makes me sick. I run to the bathroom, covering my mouth with my hand, and puke in the toilet.

After I have brushed my teeth and cleaned up a little, I leave the apartment as soon as I can. If Uriah was here, he would make me stay to rest. By the time I get there, I'm feeling much better. I knock the door and soon Christina opens, she is holding a tall glass of some strange drink I'm sure contains alcohol.

"Florence, come in! Take a seat, have a drink" she pulls me into her apartment. Shauna and Marlene are already there, and soon Marlene and Lauren join us. They are all drinking tequila, but I have to stick with my water.

"I wonder where Tris is" Christina says as she checks the digital clock in her bedside table.

In that exact second, someone knocks the door with aggression. Christina opens it and a crying Tris walks in the room. Her cheeks are stained with mascara-filled tears.

"Tris! Oh my God, what happened, why are you crying?" Christina asks as she wraps Tris into a hug.

TRIS POV

I cry as Christina hugs me tightly. I don't really know why I'm crying, am I mad at myself or just sad because Tobias is angry at me during our first day back at home?

I pull away from our hug and sit on the floor next to Lauren and Florence. All of my friends look at me with questioning faces, like asking me what is wrong. I sigh before explaining. "Four is angry at me because I didn't tell him about some important...events that happened recently. And... I don't know why I didn't tell him about it. I didn't want to ruin the honeymoon for us, but maybe I should have told him anyways. I was so stupid." I don't get into much detail, and they seem to notice I want to keep it like that, because none of them asks for details.

Before someone answers, I turn around to face Christina, who stands behind me, leaning against a table. "So... where is that tequila you promised?" I ask trying to forget about the whole thing with Tobias.

She flashes me a smile as we all sit in a circle. Christina places a tray full of tequila shots in the center and takes a sit next to Marlene.

"So... this is what we are doing" I start "You have to dedicate each shot to a problem you have or ever had. Let me start." I grab one of the many shots "This is because my husband is angry at me because I didn't tell him...stuff." I then throw my head back and drink. The tequila burns my throat, but I don't mind.

Shauna grabs one "This is because Zeke can't stop checking out every girl that walks by even when he is with me, and it drives me crazy"

"Good" I say with a nod.

Next goes Christina "This one goes to the fact that I'm not sure I want to marry Will." she drinks her tequila and we all stare at her with our mouths hanging open. I have to talk to her about it later.

I break the awkward silence "Marlene you are up" I say.

She answers with a nod. She hold her drink up before speaking. "Because during the meetings with ambassadors I met this guy I really like, but he is from candor"

Lauren and Florence don't drink with us. Florence is well... pregnant, and Lauren is on a free-alcohol diet for a month.

Lynn doesn't like sharing her stuff with anyone, so she just drinks and murmurs something about not having any big issues a the moment. We all just nod.

Soon it's my turn again "This one goes to Monic for being a bitch and trying to seduce my man"

At the mention of her name, the all freeze. "What's wrong?" I ask.

Christina sighs before answering "Monic hasn't been seen by anyone for weeks now. Rumor has it that she doesn't leave her apartment anymore." she says with a slight frown.

"Oh... that's creepy" I answer with my eyebrows raised. "But anyways, it would be better if she doesn't come out of that apartment again. Let's continues with our game." I say cheerfully.

They all agree. after some more shots the room starts spinning, and we are all laughing so hard.

TOBIAS POV

After a couple of hours of just walking around the compound, I go back to the apartment. Tris must be back by now. Maybe we should talk, but I'm not sure. I want to understand her, but at the same time I feel frustrated about this. I unlock the door, expecting to find Tris inside, but she is not there. In any other day, I would text her or call her. But right now, I decide to just wait for her.

I lay down on the couch and before I realize, I doze off.

2 hours later...

I wake up slowly, and check my watch. It's midnight already, and Tris is not here yet. I sigh as I stand up, I should go look for her before it gets late.

I walk towards Christina's apartment as fast as I can. I'm starting to get worried, what if she's not there? Where is she? I knock the door and soon a very drunk Christina opens it. "Four! We were just talking about you what a coincidence right? Come in!" she says as she grabs my arm and pulls me into her apartment.

I see Shauna, Marlene, Lynn and Tris sitting on the floor drinking shots. They appear to be just as drunk as Christina. An empty bottle of tequila lays on the floor next to them, apparently, they switched to vodka. None of them notices I'm standing there. Tris grabs a vodka shot and speaks up "This one goes to my husband who hates me!" she says before drinking it.

I walk towards her and pick her up. "That's enough Tris, I'm taking you back to the apartment."

"Oh, it's my husband! The one that hates me!" she bursts out laughing then.

I walk towards the apartment, and the whole way, she just laughs and eventually starts crying. When we get there, she starts crying even more. "I'm sorry!" she says says between sobs.

I just sigh and lay her down on the bed. "Sleep Tris, we can talk tomorrow." I say. She nods and soon, her blue eyes close, and her breathing slows down. I just stare at her, wondering if I really hurt her that badly for her to get this drunk and believe I hate her.

I gently kiss her cheek and go to sleep.
