Chapter 34: You might have him, but I always get the last word

"Step away from the blonde." I said firmly to Rufus as I entered my room. It was completely wrecked. Items were thrown everywhere and the beds were flipped over.

"So nice to see you again, Patricia." He smiled at me while I glared.

"Get. Away. From. The blonde."

"Let them go, Lane." I gaped for a few seconds. Lane was our guidance councilor. He would surely get fired if Mr. Sweet found out.

Lane let go of Amber, and Nina, apparently, and they ran behind me.

"Where's Jerome?" Nina whispered.

"He went to make sure everyone else was ok." I replied. "I don't need you help, Rufus. I just wanted my phone since you broke the other one."

"Patricia, I thought we needed his help." Amber muttered.

"Not anymore. Jerome told me all I needed to know."

"Oh, really? I know someone that does and would be happy to let me get rid of you." Rufus smirked.

"Really? That's so great! Oh, wait. I don't care."

"Really? I think you offended Lane."

"I'm not scared of you. Or Lane."

"Lane, show her what you can do."

Lane took a can of pop and tore the thing in half. Pop went all over one of Amber's dresses.

"Hey! You have to pay for that!" Amber screamed.

"Amber, you don't even like that dress." Nina whispered.

"So? He still has to pay for it!"

"Oh. I'm so afraid. Not." Although I truly was on the inside, I wasn't going to show it.

"Oh, really?"

"Oh yeah." I took the crowbar I hid in my dresser and threw it at his head.

"Where did she get that?" Lane asked.

"I don't know, Lane! Now, shut up!" Rufus had ducked just in time. It had missed his head by inches. "Ha ha! You missed!"

"Or did I?" This made a look of confusion cross his face.

He looked back at the crowbar stuck in the wall. Perfect.

I kicked him from behind and knocked him over. I punched Lane in the face, then kneed him in the stomach. He toppled over as well.

"We need to go now while we have a chance." I said to Nina and Amber.

We ran downstairs to Jerome and everyone else.

"You ok?" Jerome asked me.

"Yeah." I replied and he kissed me on the forehead. Annie glared at me. "Call the police."

"Already on it." Joy spoke up.

A few minutes later the police came, with Victor close behind.

"You'll pay for this, Patricia." Rufus muttered as they took him away.

"Doubt it." I muttered back.

"Any property damaged will be replaced." The policeman said.

"Thank God. I paid a fortune for that dress." Amber sighed

"I need to go." Nina muttered and ran to our room.

"I better follow her." I whispered to Jerome. "Neens, are you ok?"

"Yeah. I just wanted to make sure some stuff was ok. It's irreplaceable." She was talking about a box of photos.

"Is that your gran?" I looked at the one on top.

"Yeah. She's really inspirational and I sorta need her here with me right now. I don't car what shape or form, it's just some things-"

"Fabian?"

She nodded. "I just feel like he's getting closer to Joy."

"I know how you feel."

"Yeah. This is my dad here. And that's my mom." She showed me a picture of the two of them.

"Nina, I hate to say this, but I think I know your father..."
