Santana

The doors to the hospital glided open with efficiency and ease as she walked through and straight towards the information desk. As much as she'd been in the hospital that year, one would think she would know it backwards and forwards but that wasn't the case at all. Normally Santana would be visiting her new baby brother, whom she was spoiling already, and her mom but today her visit served a completely different purpose.

They had found her.

Her Sage.

And she was in the hospital in Lima.

Rachel had disappeared a couple days prior and only sent a text message to their dad saying she was with Tyler on a mission. She and her sisters had been calling her phone and texting her none stop, while Shelby was sick (in the hospital after giving birth) with worry and only this morning had Rachel sent another message to the entire family saying she was back in town and was fine. Santana had a feeling Rachel's ass was going to be a little on the sore side, once Nana and her uncle got to her.

After getting the message that Rach was fine, almost instantly another message popped up in her phone from Tyler, stating that her girlfriend was back in Lima and they were at the hospital. She quickly showered, and dressed in comfortable clothing before borrowing the keys to Mercedes' car and driving towards the hospital.

"Excuse me" said Santana in a hurry, "I'm looking for Sage McLaurin, she was brought in early this morning and I was told I could be let up to see her" said Santana. The receptionist squared her eyes at Santana before turning towards her computer screen and typing a little aggressively. It started to simmer in her chest, the rage that she'd worked so hard to try and contain when dealing with other people, especially people she didn't know or love.

"She's on the fifth floor and her family left a note stating it was okay for you to come up when you arrived" said the receptionist quietly. Santana nodded curtly before turning to leave.

"Weren't you the same girl that was walking out of here in handcuffs some months ago?" asked the receptionist suspiciously.

Santana stopped suddenly and turned around in a slow manner and cut her eyes coldly at the woman, who had sense enough to move back slowly in her seat. Her breathing had increased as her chest heaved up and down. She literally was biting her tongue because she knew how dangerously close she came to lunging over the table and punching the shit out of that woman. One thing was keeping her rooted to the spot as she maintained her cold and calculating stare and it was the fact that Sage was upstairs waiting for her. Santana turned back around and walked away without answering the question and made her way over to the elevator.

Punching the button for fifth floor she took several deep breathes to try and calm her rapidly beating heart. She hated getting her past thrown back at her without exception and to have some unimportant cubicle bitch do it seemed to piss her off even more.

The elevator dinged loudly as the doors slid open and Santana quickly walked onto the magical moving box. She shot one last glare at the receptionist before rolling her eyes as the doors closed shut. She kept doing her breathing exercises as the elevator seemed to stop at every floor on her way to the fifth one. Marissa had told her earlier that week that she was doing good with coping and managing her anger. Santana was beginning to learn that she stayed angry because it was an easier emotion to deal with than the pain that always seemed to be in her heart. For one reason or another, the pain was a constant thing and more than anything she just wanted it to stop. Marissa explained that it was a process though and she had to let it happen naturally.

Santana believed that to be true but here she was, in the hospital…again and she knew that something painful was going to be added to her heart, which was already carrying quite a heavy load.

Santana made her way around to the room assignment number and she was greeted with her own Nana sitting in the hard seats outside of Sage's room.

"Nana?" Santana questioned as she rushed over to the older woman.

"Hey baby" she responded as she began to raise out of her seat but Santana motioned for her to stay seated as she sat next to her and Nana immediately wrapped her up in a big hug, which Santana melted into right away.

"You're so tensed" whispered Nana, "I can feel it coming off of you in waves."

"I'm scared" Santana admitted out loud, "I don't understand why we're here" she responded back quietly, "what's wrong with her?"

She felt her grandmother take a deep breath and release it slowly as she moved Santana closer to her and tighten her embrace around her small waist, "Nana" whispered Santana brokenly.

"Um, well when they found her she seemed to be a little underweight and dehydrated" said the older woman before pausing, "th-they also believed that-that she was raped" Nana said softly into Santana's ear.

Santana immediately pushed back and looked into her grandmother's eyes in search of the truth because what the woman was telling her couldn't honestly be real. Tears fell out of her eyes at a rapid pace without her being in control when she saw the regret and sympathy in Nana's eyes.

"What the fuck?" Santana said breathlessly as she slammed her frame back into her grandmother. She felt something break within her. How could this be happening? Who would do something like that to Sage, to her girl? Why couldn't everyone just leave her and hers the fuck alone?

"I wish they would leave us all the fuck alone as well but life isn't like that sweetie" replied Nana quietly, as Santana continued to cry into the woman's shoulder, "it sucks that this has happened but she's here now and she's been asking for you."

Santana nodded as she continued to cry as her brain was working and processing that Sage had been violated in the worse way possible.

"Did they call the cops?" she rasped out as she peeled herself off of Nana. The hospital door suddenly opened and a uniformed officer walked out as well as plain clothed one followed by the Sage's grandparents. Santana stood up slowly as Nana McLaurin walked over and embraced her, while Pop Pop continued to talk to the officers. She fought off the urge to cry again as Nana McLaurin held her tightly and she felt her own Nana rubbing her back soothingly. The door opened again and out walked Kitty causing Santana to pull away as the officer (a detective Santana assumed) began addressing the small group.

"I just wanted to let you know that we're starting the investigation as soon as we leave here. Your granddaughter was very fourth coming with the information and even though it's across state lines, we should be able to work with them without much interference or problems. You have a strong young lady in there and in my personal opinion she'll get through this entire situation just fine" said the detective.

"What's your name?" asked Santana as she gave the man a once over. He looked like a typical middle aged white man; salt and pepper hair, glasses and a basic suit.

"Detective Tim Leonard" he said as he reached in his pocket and handed her a card. Santana grabbed the card without breaking eye contact and stuffed it into her own pocket. "I'll be in touch" said detective Leonard as he tipped his head and turned to leave.

They all watched him leave as the door opened yet again and Tyler came out of the door, rubbing his hand through his curly hair. They locked eyes with one another and she knew that he understood she needed to know what happened before walking in there and facing her girlfriend. Tyler grabbed her hand and pulled her off to the side, with Kitty following along.

"She called us the night your little brother was born" said Tyler as Santana really looked at him for the first time. He looked exhausted and like he was trying his best not to cry but also not to punch his fist through a wall. "Rach and I told Nana and Pop Pop and they woke Kitty up. Before I could fully think we were all in the car on our way to go get her. She'd run away from wherever the fuck she was and she was hiding out at some gas station. The clerk was kind enough to let her use the phone and she got the address from the store clerk. Pop Pop put it in the GPS and we were on our way."

"Where the hell was she?" asked Santana.

"In fucking Kentucky" said Kitty angrily "the middle of fucking Kentucky."

Santana took a deep breath and waited for Tyler to continue, "When we finally got there she was standing outside of the gas station store…shivering and looking bad" said Tyler emotionally. Her eyes were sunken in slightly, dark circles all around them and she looked like she'd dropped weight. As soon as Pop Pop stopped the car, she quickly jumped in and Nana wrapped her up in a blanket she brought with her. It was clear she needed a hospital but she was insistent on coming back here to Lima…to you" said Tyler pointedly as he looked at Santana. "She didn't say a word until we got here and they immediately brought her back…that's when we found out she was raped" he said. More tears fell out of her eyes as she saw Tyler trying his best to wipe his wet eyes, as Kitty melted into the side of Tyler's body.

"When we find out who did this to her, I promise you I'm gonna kill em" he said angrily through flared nostrils.

Santana nodded in agreement because she felt the exact same way but her body wasn't letting her voice it properly. A doctor came out of the room next and Santana listened to him with rapt attention. Sage was definitely dehydrated and they were giving her the hydration and nutrients she needed through her IV. A rape kit was done and they pulled her blood to test for sexual transmitted diseases, including AIDS and HIV.

When Santana heard that she bent over and placed her shaky hands on her knees to keep her balance as she tuned the doctor out.

"It's alright Peanut" she heard the familiar and deep voice of her father say. Terry pulled her by the waist and she leaned back into him for strength as he placed a tender kiss on the top of her head, "I can't believe this is happening" she kept saying over and over again as tears seemed to be flowing in a steady stream down her face. Her Uncle Stephen, whom she just realized was there grabbed her hand and squeezed it tightly in reassurance. She was beginning to feel overwhelmed and her instinct was to start running because it was all too much but one thing kept her rooted, and that was Sage. Tyler's words kept playing over and over again in her mind, 'she came back here to Lima…to you'.

She had to face this and be there for Sage. Her girlfriend didn't deserve what she'd gotten and Santana made a vow in that moment to be the strong person Sage could lean on. So many people were there for Santana when she was going through her endless stream of mess, it was only right and fair to return the favor and return it tenfold to someone whom she loved very deeply.

Santana took some time to get herself together before going in the room and meeting Sage, while Tyler, Kitty and Sage's grandparents were meeting with her once again. She was trying to think of what to say but she couldn't come up with anything, so she decided to take things naturally. Not her best plan but it's the only one she had.

"How's mom and Brandon?" Santana asked softly to her dad.

"They're fine. Brandon's doing well with eating and breathing…he's a healthy boy" said Terry, "I left them alone with Rachel upstairs."

"Mom was pissed wasn't she?" asked Santana with a humorless chuckle.

"She was scared and she was masking that fear with being angry…either way Rachel is in a lot of trouble. Between your mom and your grandmother, I kinda feel sorry for her" said Terry knowingly.

"I don't" shrugged Santana, "she should've picked up the damn phone."

"Agreed Peanut, but I assure you she will make a valiant speech on why she didn't" said Terry, who was smirking slightly.

Santana chuckled as she nodded in agreement.

Nana McLaurin and Pop Pop walked out of the hospital room and looked towards Santana, "she's asking for you again" Pop Pop said softly. Santana tensed slightly before springing up, taking a deep breath, exhaling, and walking towards the room. Shaky hands gripped the handle of the door tightly before turning it and opening the only thing that was holding her away from Sage.

Once she walked in her eyes immediately meet with the light brown ones of Sage and she felt a multitude of emotions at once. Anxiousness, relief, heartbreak, and love were all swirling around and making a mess of her brain and heart, which had picked up her rate and made it feel like her chest was going to explode. She opened and closed her mouth several times but was at a loss of what to say. She wanted to apologize, cry, and scream profanities in Spanish simultaneously while comforting and consoling her all at once.

"Hey" Sage said softly, which was like music to Santana's ear and it broke through the haze that was surrounding her heart and mind.

"Hey" Santana offered back just as softly as she stood almost rooted to the spot.

Sage lifted her arm towards Santana and her eyes were pleading for Santana to come to her. Santana wasted no time walking swiftly over to Sage and grabbing onto her hand and squeezing it. Her bottom lip began trembling because she didn't realize how much she missed Sage's touch and she'd forgotten how soft Sage's hands were. Tears fell out of her eyes as she looked into the light eyes of Sage, who also had tears falling out of hers. Her eyes didn't look quite the same, it was as if they were clouded and all types of hurt could be seen in them.

"I love you" said Santana strongly as she leaned over and placed her forehead softly on Sage's, "I love you and I'm so sorry this happened" chocked out Santana.

Soft lips connected with hers for a split second, "I love you too Santana" Sage said hoarsely, "I love you so much" she whispered out as Sage grabbed Santana's other hand and they interlocked their fingers with one another.

There weren't a lot of words exchanged in that moment but what they said to one another carried so much weight because of the simple truth to it.

Rachel

Rachel was sitting in her mother's hospital bed, quite contently after the busy morning she had. Her youngest sibling had his tiny hand wrapped around one of her fingers and she was watching her mom feed him. Rachel relished in the little noises he was making and she marveled at how beautiful he was. He was the Corcoran family miracle and she couldn't believe how God chose to bless her family after so much tragedy. A few tears slipped out of her eyes as the memory of her own son began parading her mind and she smiled softly as she felt her mom's gentle hand wipe away her tears.

"Thanks" whispered Rachel as she felt Brandon tighten his little grip around her finger.

"No problem" replied Shelby emotionally.

Rachel had expected her mom to fuss her out something terrible when she showed up to her room after making sure Sage was checked in, but the woman surprised her.

As soon as Rachel walked through the door Shelby broke out into tears. Rachel immediately ran towards her mother and embraced her tightly as Shelby sobbed unabashedly into Rachel's hair, while thanking God repeatedly that she was home and safe.

Rachel immediately began apologizing as Shelby strongly gripped her and surprisingly lifted her into the hospital bed. Her mother began rocking them back and forth and Rachel just let herself be handled. Looking over her shoulder she saw Terry give her a pointed look before he got up and placed a soft kiss on her forehead. He exited the room quietly and Shelby continued to rock them back and forth until she calmed down considerably.

She hadn't felt any guilt before even though she knew she was wrong. She was helping out her boyfriend and also Santana by leaving in the manner she did, but seeing how her mom was reacting it made her feel horrible inside.

"Mom, I'm really sorry…I swear I didn't mean to upset you this way" Rachel whispered. Shelby finally pulled Rachel away and they looked eyes, "Don't ever do that again Rachel Barbara" stuttered out her mother with watery and slightly puffy eyes.

"I won't mama, I promise" replied Rachel earnestly, "Tyler needed me so I went with him to help."

"I don't mind that you went to help him, but the entire family was trying to get in contact with you to make sure you were okay and the only thing you sent was a raggedy text message to Terry. That is unacceptable young lady" said Shelby sternly.

Rachel was used to that tone; that was the Shelby Corcoran/Johnson she knew.

"Mama I'm really sorry" Rachel said as she began to lay it on thick with her eyes, hoping it would get her out of trouble. Shelby's eyes instantly watered and she pulled Rachel into her body one again, "I know baby…I was just so worried."

Rachel knew her mother's emotions were a little all over the place because of the birth of her new brother and she was hoping to use that to her advantage to get out of major trouble. So far it seemed to be working and Rachel's backside was ever grateful for that.

"It won't happen again" Rachel promised her mom.

"I hope not darling and I accept your apology" said Shelby as she gave Rachel on last squeeze before releasing, "but you are going to have to figure out how to explain that to your grandmother and uncle once they get a hold of you" said Shelby knowingly. Rachel's mouth dropped open slightly. She hadn't even thought about what her grandmother or uncle would do and she began wringing her hands together in concern.

Her baby brother must have felt what she was feeling because he decided to start whimpering at that moment before outright crying aloud. Shelby looked over towards the crib that Rachel honestly was just noticing and she was moving so she could get towards her brother. Rachel stopped her though, "you're not supposed to be moving like that mama" Rachel said softly before climbing out of the bed and moving towards the crib. Truth be told, she did leave to help out Tyler but her other reason was she simply wasn't ready to met him. Rachel was afraid of all the feelings his birth would bring up for her and she was just plain scared.

Once she got to his crib, she saw his little body crying out for someone to help him and her fears immediately melted away. She picked him up carefully and sister and brother made their way over to the woman who gave birth to them. Rachel softly placed Brandon in her mother's arms and he immediately began the sucking motion and Shelby cooed at his expression. Rachel watched as her mother grabbed the baby bottle next to the bed and smiled when Brandon latched onto the nipple and began eating. Rachel's eyes never left her little brother as she easily slid back into the bed and smiled down at him as she watched mother and son bond. Shelby was talking softly to him and Rachel reached over to play in his hair, which reminded her of Joshua's hair. She stroked his fat little cheek and she put her finger near his hand and he immediately gripped it strongly, which Rachel thought was quite alright.

"He's beautiful" said Rachel softly as she finally looked up at her mom, whom seemed to have been watching Rachel for quite some time.

"Just like his big sister" replied Shelby softly. Rachel blushed in spite of herself and she watched as Brandon released the bottle's nipple and Shelby instinctively pulled him up on her shoulder to burp him. It still amazes Rachel how the bond between mother and child is instant and lifelong. Even when she wasn't raised by Shelby and had no connection to the woman, a large part of her always wanted and needed to know the woman who gave birth to her. Having Joshua also gave her the understanding of how deep the love goes between mother and child and no matter what, it never goes away once established.

Rachel watched as Brandon was burped and she helped her mom change his diaper. Rachel decided to change his outfit to the star onesie she purchased him with the matching hat, causing Shelby to laugh and look at both of them lovingly. Rachel picked him up off the bed and began talking softly to him and rocking him back and forth. She was getting a kick out of watching him fall asleep and was totally oblivious to the fact that her mom had picked up her phone and snapped several pictures of them together.

Rachel Berry had once again fallen in love.

This time with her beautiful baby brother Brandon Isaiah Johnson.

Mercedes

Mercedes was sitting in the living room talking to Nana as she watched Quinn pacing back and forth while on the phone talking to who Mercedes assumed was Kitty.

"Nana we can come to the hospital if you want" said Mercedes. She heard her grandmother vehemently oppose that idea. She wanted Mercedes and Quinn to keep their eyes on Beth, who was down for her nap. "Okay Nana, but you've seen Rachel and she's okay right?" questioned Mercedes.

"I haven't seen her but your dad has; when I get my hands on her small self she's gonna wish she hadn't seen me" said Nana seriously into the phone.

Mercedes visibly shuttered at what her grandmother was implying. She had only received a spanking from Shelby and that was bad enough. She'd heard from Santana multiple times on how heavy-handed Nana was and she never wanted to experience that for herself causing Mercedes to feel sympathy for her younger sister and not anger any longer.

"Don't be too hard on her Nana…she was wrong but I know she was just trying to help" replied Mercedes.

"I'm sure of the same thing, but she will suffer the consequences. Rachel knows better and she chose to do wrong, regardless of whether she was helping or not" said Nana sternly, effectively letting Mercedes know the conversation was over at that point.

"Okay, I've gotta help Brittany today but we'll be helping with Beth until you and the rest of the crew comes home" supplied Mercedes as she watch Quinn hang up her call and flop down on their couch.

"Okay baby, I love you" Nana said softly.

"I love you too" replied Mercedes. She hung up the phone and her eyes connected with hazel-green ones.

"What do you have to help Brittany with?" asked Quinn after a moment of silence.

"Packing up the apartment, they're going to be moving next week and we'll be back in school, so I won't be able to help then" said Mercedes.

Quinn nodded and involuntarily perked her eyebrow up before sighing heavily, "How is she?" Quinn asked quietly.

"She's okay, a lot better than she was previously" replied Mercedes. She pondered whether or not to say the next words on the tip of her tongue. Throwing caution to the wind, she decided it was now or never, "You should call her sometime…she really misses you."

Quinn scoffed before rolling her eyes, "No thanks Squirt. I've got better things to do than to worry about Brittany. I'm done and I meant that and still mean it" said Quinn sharply.

Mercedes held her hands up in surrender, "No need to get dramatic Quinn. I'm just telling you what I noticed. She misses you a whole lot is all" Mercedes said rolling her eyes when Quinn scoffed humorlessly, "for the better part of this year you were her backbone and confidant" she said as Quinn beginning chewing at her bottom lip, "now through one of the biggest transitions in her life, she doesn't have you anymore and it's eating at her-"

"Well she can blame herself for that" spat out Quinn as she cut Mercedes off, "and besides, you've become her best friend and confidant now…she'll be okay" said Quinn.

"It's not the same and you know it" replied Mercedes in frustration as she pointed an accusatory finger at Quinn.

"She'll be fine Mercedes" said Quinn with finality.

She eyed her blonde sister who avoided eye contact with her after using her former cheerleading tone, something Mercedes hadn't heard used towards in well over two years. She could see Quinn was fighting back tears and she decided to leave it alone for the time being.

"Call me if you need help with Beth" said Mercedes as she got off of the couch and walked over to Quinn who was still avoiding her gaze. "I love you" she said as she bent down and placed a feather light kiss on the top of blonde tresses.

She heard Quinn return her sentiment as she closed the door to the garage and took Quinn's car on the way to Brittany's.

Helping the Pierce family pack turned out to be way too much fun; a mundane task that most people hated ended up being spent listening to Motown songs, eating homemade cookies, and plenty of laughter. Sam had shown up, willing to use his muscles to help out with the heavier stuff and extreme lifting.

Brenda Pierce had returned to their old/new home and gave it a thorough cleaning with her sister, whom decided to move to Lima permanently to help her family. The Peirce residence was livable once again and Mercedes couldn't help but to genuinely smile at how excited Brittany was about that simple fact.

The blonde was busting random moves as she packed up her clothing and was laughing care free along with her younger brother Benjamin. It was the first time Mercedes had seen the young boy really smile, even though the smiles were never directed towards her. In fact he was downright apprehensive whenever Mercedes was around. She couldn't blame him though; both of their families had been to hell and back this year and it often times the Corcoran and Pierce family had been at odds with one another.

Mercedes texted Quinn to check on her and Beth to make sure everything was okay at home. She than called her mom to check on her and her new baby brother. She showed several pictures of Brandon to Brittany and she smiled in appreciation at how Brittany's eyes would light up as they talked about who he favored more; Terry, Shelby, or Rachel.

Sam went and got them dinner at Chipotle and they all sat around the table eating and conversing softly with one another.

"So Mercedes, any college plans?" asked Mrs. Pierce.

"No, not really" shrugged the darker girl, "I'm not really interested in school or higher education." She noticed Sam look at her quizzically.

"Oh, what does Shelby think of that?" inquired Brittany's mom.

"We haven't really had time to discuss anything in detail with the baby coming and everything else" said Mercedes, "honestly I just want to sing and I don't feel like I need school for that."

"It's like me wanting to dance mom" supplied Brittany, "when Mercedes sings it's like a beautiful heavenly voice…but with power!" exclaimed the blonde

Mercedes blushed considerably as she thanked Brittany for the compliment.

"Even with her heavenly voice Brittany she should have some type of plan" said Aunt Susan, "sorta like what you guys came up with for you" the woman said knowingly.

"That's true" said Brittany quietly as she looked away thoughtfully, "Mercedes we have to come up with a plan for you too, so that you can practice your natural God given ability" said Brittany, using Mercedes' own words on her.

Mercedes laughed in spite of being put on the spot, knowing that Brittany was entirely serious about helping her out with her future plans. Sam reached over and linked his hand with hers and she could see the sadness within them. They hadn't even talked about the fact that she was graduating and their relationship was finally getting back on track.

It was no surprise when Sam and Mercedes finally exited for the evening that this was the conversation they were having before they separated.

"Where do you think you'll end up?" Sam asked quietly.

"I'm thinking of California but Rachel has been making New York sound more and more appealing" replied Mercedes.

"I believe in you Cedes', I think if you want to sing and make awesome records, you'll be able to do that…my only concern is what about us?" said Sam. "I love you and it is totally real. It's nothing fake about it baby and I need to know I have a place in your future" said Sam seriously.

"You'll always have a place in my future. Sam I don't ever think you understood how much you mean to me. You're the first person to make me feel wanted and sexy and loved. It's no way I would give any of that up" said Mercedes as she placed both her hands on the side of Sam's face and forced him to make eye contact with her, "even if we aren't physically together" she whispered with watery eyes.

Sam's head fell back against her car, which he was leaning against and he sighed heavily as a lone tear slipped down his face. Mercedes reached up and wiped it away as a few tears slipped out of her own eyes, "why are you crying?" she questioned as she laid her head on his chest. His heartbeat was the first thing she noticed, steady and strong but very vulnerable. His arms slipped around her ever thinning waist as he shook his head. He was emotional and he didn't want to completely break in front of her, that much she was sure of. So she let him cry silently as they held one another under the stars.

"It's just that we're finally getting it right and it feels like were rushing to the end. No matter how much I want for time to slow down, it just won't and I'm afraid I'm gonna look up and you'll be gone, doing bigger and better things. Meeting people and being awesome and I'm gonna be trapped back here in Lima" scoffed Sam, "getting ready for another stupid singing competition and wishing I was a year older so I can be with my girl…it just sucks is all."

She could empathize very much with what he was feeling. The whirlwind that had been her life finally seemed to slow down and in just a couple of months she would be going through another transition of sorts. Nationals was coming up, followed by graduation and then for certain her move out of Ohio. She was looking forward to all of this with a child like anticipation mixed with ambiguity, but there was one thing she was completely sure of and that was Sam and her love for him.

"We'll be together even after I graduate and after I make my move, whether California or New York. We will be together and that much I am completely sure about" said Mercedes as she hugged her body closer to his, "do you believe that?"

Sam finally lifted his head from where it fell back against the car and looked down at her. He curled his finger up and lifted her chin forcing her brown eyes, "of course I believe that but I'm also a realist Cedes'. If at any point when you're in NYC and you think you're interested in someone else…promise me you'll tell me and break up with me before you do anything…please promise me that and I'll manage to get through everything here once you're gone."

Mercedes searched his eyes for the seriousness of his request and she found herself agreeing to it, "Only if you promise me the same thing Sam" whispered Mercedes softly. Sam nodded in agreement before leaning down and connecting their lips together. Mercedes instantly deepened the kiss and their tongues danced together as one as she relished in the softness of his lips. He really did have big lips and mouth for a white boy and she was perfectly fine with that. Sam broke apart their kiss and quickly spun her around so that now she was against the car and he began placing light kisses on her neck, "You always smell so good" he whispered before suckling on her neck.

"You always try to leave a hickey…it's not going to happen" laughed Mercedes before she softly moaned out at what he was doing, "Sam baby stop it, you're tryna start something and we're still in the parking lot" Mercedes stuttered out as he softly nipped her neck. She was beginning to lose control and she knew this wouldn't end well if they continued. Mustering up some strength from somewhere she definitely didn't feel, she began pushing at Sam's chest gently. He whimpered out his dissatisfaction before pulling completely away and she saw how blown his pupils were.

"Not fair" he said very seriously as he looked down at her with disappointment.

"I know Bear but we're in the parking lot" said Mercedes as she tried gaining more control over her body.

"We've done it in the car before" reasoned Sam, as she pressed against her and she felt his bulge. Mercedes pushed him off forcing him to step back slightly, "and when we got back together, we promised not to do that anymore" said Mercedes feeling less in the mood as the conversation continued.

Sam sighed in frustration but nodded his head, "I know we promised but we can't go back to my place and you're sharing a room with Rachel now" he pleaded, as he walked back towards Mercedes and buried his face in her neck, "it's been so long chocolate drop" he whispered. Sam started placing tender kisses on her neck and she felt a resolve fall slightly, but she wasn't falling for it.

"Sorry Samuel Evans" she said maneuvering herself from under him, "you want some of this chocolate thunder than I suggest you become a little more creative because the days of back seat loving are over darling" she said as she batted her eyelids and pointed her finger at him.

Sam squared his eyes slightly and nodded his head, "okay, but know that the next time we do this, and we'll definitely be doing it again" said Sam as he started walking towards her slowly with a mischievous smirk on his face, "I'm gonna rock you world" he said once he was standing directly in front of her. He leaned over slowly and Mercedes' mouth dried as she audibly gulped, it still amazed her that he was able to weaken her to her core. Thinking he was coming she quickly moistened her lips but he quickly diverted his mouth to her ear, "and when I rock your world Mercedes, I'm gonna keep starting and stopping until I'm ready for you to cum" he said whispering the last part. A shiver traveled from her ear directly down to her core and she was two seconds from pulling Sam into the backseat of her car when he lifted his head and looked down at her. She visibly gulped at the sensual yet intense look he was giving her but before she could open her mouth to say a word, he pecked her lips really quickly before mumbling out his love and walking away towards Finn's truck, which he borrowed earlier.

Mercedes was literally stuck in her spot for about five minutes before she fully registered everything that just happened.

"Damn him" she said with a blush before getting in Quinn's car and driving back home.

Walking through the door she saw Quinn laying out the dinner of chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese for her and Beth. Mercedes declined and rushed back to her bedroom so she could shower and spend some much needed time alone before Rachel finally got back home. While texting both Sam and Brittany, the bedroom door swung open and in walked her prodigal sister.

She and Rachel eyed one another for a few seconds before Mercedes climbed out of the bed and went to hug her sister tightly, "don't ever do that again Munchkin" whispered Mercedes emotionally.

"I won't" Rachel answered back sincerely.

"I mean it Rachel" Mercedes said pulling back, "when you wouldn't answer your phone my mind immediately went to the worse possible scenario there was" she said with watery eyes.

Rachel looked at her with sorrowful and apologetic eyes and Mercedes couldn't help but to pull her into another tight hug and place a soft kiss on her cheek. Before letting go she slapped her ass rather harshly and was surprised when Rachel's knees buckle. Raising her brow in question she looked down at Rachel, "Nana got to me first" replied Rachel softly.

"As she should have, you scared the living shit out of us" said Mercedes as she eased Rachel down on the bed.

"So everyone keeps telling me" Rachel said as she rolled her eyes and began to undress, "I'm just exhausted and I'm beginning to smell myself which isn't good. I'm gonna shower and go to bed, thanks for being concerned about me though" said Rachel as she grabbed her robe and towel and began heading for the shower. "Oh yeah, Tyler might call your phone because apparently I'm grounded until mom and the baby comes back home" Rachel said as she rolled her eyes dramatically.

"Did you see him yet?" asked Mercedes as she begun lighting candles and putting on some music.

"Yeah" whispered Rachel as she got a faraway look, "he's fucking perfect" she said before closing the bathroom door behind her. Mercedes nodded in agreement and flung herself on her bed. Things were looking up and were falling back into place. Brandon was here and now Sage was home and if what her Nana said was true, Santana is going to be something to deal with the next few months.

A nagging guilt started to rise in Mercedes, when she turned over and realized she hadn't really thought of Santana that day at all. She didn't even bother going to see if her sister was okay about Sage and everything. Shameful thoughts clouded her head that night as she turned off her phone and turned over to fall asleep. Her sister deserved better than what she was giving her right now. All her focus was on Brittany and Sam, and that wasn't fair to Santana, Rachel, or Quinn. Mercedes finally dozed off that evening thinking of ways to do and be better for her family, specifically Santana.

Santana

Letting out a long sigh of relief, Santana tucked a piece of hair behind Sage's ear as she watched her girlfriend finally getting some sleep. She trailed her finger along Sage's ear and followed it to her two eyebrows, which were scrunched together tightly. Sage still had Santana's tee shirt clutched in her hand tightly and Santana's hoodie was now on Sage's body. Santana pressed a kiss on Sage's forehead and her face instantly relaxed as she continued to sleep.

It had been hard to get Sage to fall asleep that evening. She literally pitched a bitch fit because she didn't want to go to sleep at all and Sage's family had to leave because of hospital policy. Tyler, Kitty, Nana McLaurin, and Pop Pop wanted Sage to start getting some rest before they left for the evening, combine that with the fact that it was expected for Santana to leave, which Santana flat out refused; It was quite the drama filled scene inside of the hospital room that night. Santana wasn't going anywhere and she basically caused her own form of ruckus out in the hallway with her Nana and her dad. She'd just gotten Sage back and she wasn't leaving her ever again.

When the McLaurins even suggested that it was time for Santana to leave, Sage damn near hyperventilated and Santana had to crawl into the hospital bed with her to get her to calm down. Her doctor suggested she was in desperate need of sleep and Sage wasn't having that either. Santana deduced that Sage's apprehension for sleep definitely had something to do with her rape and then Santana almost physically became ill when she realized the rape may have happened more than once. After staving off her own panic attack with the excuse she was going to get some orange juice from the vending machine, Santana climbed back into Sage's bed and pulled the biracial girl towards her. Sage clung to her immediately and Santana could feel some of the tension flowing away from her body.

Santana pressed soft kisses to Sage's mouth and she began talking to her about glee club of all things. It seemed to get Sage's mind off of things and while they were talking, the doctor pretended to be checking her chart and he along with the female nurse slipped something into her IV drip to get her to sleep. Santana watched as her eyes began fluttering with the heaviness of being wide awake for a few days and she could see the recognition in Sage's eyes that they had drugged her, but the biracial girl wasn't upset.

"Just promise me you'll be here when I wake up" Sage said to Santana.

"I promise, I'm not going anywhere babe" replied Santana with seriousness.

Sage nodded, before yawning widely and finally dozing off.

Santana's heart was unbearably heavy. She was still trying to wrap her mind around the fact that somebody had hurt Sage in that way, her Sage. All day she was trying get her girlfriend to give more details into what happened, but it was clear Sage didn't want to talk about what had transpired at the pray the gay away camp. The only thing she admitted was that a guy that worked at the facility allowed her to escape and she kept running until she couldn't run any longer and could get to a phone. Other than that she was quite mum on the actual topic of being raped and it was disheartening to Santana. Something in her needed to know every detail and every fact that happened. She was seriously contemplating breaking parole and going to Kentucky for payback.

Sage began whimpering slightly in her seat, pulling Santana out of her thoughts. Santana started rubbing her back but that only seemed to agitate Sage more and make her more upset so she stopped. Santana placed another soft kiss on Sage's forehead and that seemed to be the trick for her to calm down in her sleep.

The realization that everything in their relationship was changing was a hard thing to swallow and digest. Sage had come back a completely different person and Santana would have to be careful how she touched her, how they talked to one another and related to one another. It was going to be a time of adjustment for the both of them but the thing that seemed to subside a few of her worries is that Sage still wanted and needed her there and that sentiment alone trumped everything else.

Santana stayed up the entire night practically thinking about how she would help her girlfriend through all of this and she still didn't have an answer when the sunlight started to peak through the cracks of the window blinds. The nurses checked on them every hour on the hour and Sage only got upset in her sleep once more before finally resting peacefully. At some point in the night Sage started snoring and that was only a testament to how tired the teenager was. Fluids were still being given to her intravenously, along with vitamins and the nurse nonchalantly told Santana that Sage could expect a big breakfast in the morning.

Her weight had dropped and Santana could tell when she held Sage to her body and the doctors wanted to get that back a little before she was released from the hospital. Through the course of the night Santana had put her arm around Sage's waist protectively, yet lightly so Sage wouldn't feel wedged.

As the dawn approached, Santana watched as Sage began to come back to consciousness.

Light brown eyes meet her darker ones in the early morning light and both girls were sharing a quiet, intimate moment. Santana could still see the pain and cloudiness in her eyes as well. Sage suddenly leaned over and wrapped her arms around Santana's waist and buried her head into Santana neck. She felt Sage take a big whiff and then sigh as if she was trying to memorize Santana's scent.

"Thank you for not leaving" said Sage emotionally.

"I told you I wasn't going anywhere" replied Santana strongly even if she didn't quite feel that way.

"I'm just so tired" said Sage as she began to cry into Santana's neck. A big lump appeared in Santana's throat as pulled Sage into her body more with the gentleness of a mother dealing with a new born baby, "then rest babe, I'll be here when you wake" replied Santana as a few tears slipped out her eyes. "Don't be scared of me leaving."

"Okay" Sage replied shakily. She huffed out heavily before bury her face deeper into Santana's neck and forcing herself back to sleep as Santana brought her hand up to the nape of Sage's neck and began playing with the soft curly hair there. It was one of her favorite things to do and Sage always relaxed when she did it. She felt Sage's head become heavier and Santana only went to sleep when she heard Sage's breath even out and she knew her girlfriend was settled sound and sound asleep.

Monday after spring break came all too quickly for Santana. She found herself sitting in culinary class and for the first time that year not coming close to paying attention. It was the first day she'd spent away from Sage and she was sort of having separation anxiety. Santana showered using the bathroom in Sage's hospital room after she'd spent every waking and sleeping moment with Sage the entire weekend and the most that Sage did was sleep, which was for the best. Her skin was starting to look healthier and she was putting away the food with no problem, but the sadness and cloudiness still remained in her beautiful eyes after she would wake.

Nana McLaurin purchase Sage a new phone and the first number that was placed in it was Santana's, followed by Tyler's and Kitty's.

Santana didn't want to go to school that Monday but she had to keep up with her probation demands, and before leaving that morning, she gave Sage a small peck, with promises that they would text all day long and so far Santana was keeping up her end of the bargain. Sage was giving simple inquiries about the days schedule and Santana was describing everything with great detail, hoping to paint a good picture so Sage could keep her mind on something a little more positive.

The bell rang out and Santana quickly hurried out her classroom and simply went to the auditorium. She wasn't really concentrating and wanted to spend time talking with her girl. She simply couldn't get enough and if she didn't make some type of contact or hear her voice, she was afraid that Sage was gonna disappear or be taken from her again like she was last time.

Santana made it to the auditorium in record time and thankfully it was empty. She sat in the back and quickly dialed Sage's number. Her girlfriend picked up after the first ring and Santana let out a breath she didn't even realize she was holding when she heard Sage's voice.

"Aren't you supposed to be in class?" she heard Sage ask, a smile was evident in her voice.

"Eh, school's overrated" Santana said as she settled down lowly in the auditorium seat.

"Hmm, I wish I was there instead of in here. I'm tired of people checking my vitals and trying to put me back to sleep. I just wanna go home for the love of the good Lord" said Sage in frustration.

"In due time babe" countered Santana, "You'll be home before you know it. I'll be there to help you and soon you'll be back here at this school, wishing you could leave it like me" laughed Santana.

"Yeah…maybe" whispered Sage into the phone, Santana detected the sadness and tried her best to think of something else to talk about. For whatever reason she couldn't think of anything but glee, so that's what she talked about for the next thirty minutes. How they were getting ready for Nationals and how she thinks Mr. Schue and Ms. Pillsbury be making out during their lunch times and how the club has a running bet for when they are gonna get caught. That seemed to make Sage liven up and chuckle a little bit. Santana was about to start on another story, when Sage cut her off, "San babe, shouldn't you being going to class" said Sage softly.

"Yeah, but I'd rather talk to you" Santana instantly replied.

"I know and I wanna talk to you too but you can't get in trouble anymore. Go to class and I'll text you from time to time…okay" instructed Sage.

"Oh..ah, well okay. I'll go if you get some rest" bargained Santana.

"I can agree to that" whispered Sage, "goodbye Santana" she said before hanging up the phone.

"Bye" she said to the dial tone. Santana looked at the screen of her phone before pocketing the device. It was clear that Sage didn't want to talk any longer and for the life of her Santana couldn't figure out what she'd done wrong. She fought the urge to cry because this was the first time that Sage had rushed her off the phone like that and a pit began to develop in her stomach about how to approach things with Sage.

Instead of going to third period she stayed in the auditorium and cried her eyes out. Sometimes you just need a good cry and she was thankful she could be this vulnerable alone. That was until the bell rung out again and she heard her name being called as the auditorium doors opened.

"Where the hell have you been?" Quinn said angrily, with Rachel and Mercedes right behind her.

Santana looked up with watery eyes at her sisters, "I needed some time alone" she said not even having the energy to give a snarky response in return.

"What's wrong?" asked Rachel with concern as she sat down next to Santana and began rubbing her back. It was so Rachel Berry and Santana chuckled humorlessly at her sister, "everything's wrong" she said simply before sighing heavily and wiping her tears away, "but I really don't want to talk about it."

She glanced up at Mercedes who was giving her a wary look before rolling her eyes, "what can I do for you bitches" said Santana quietly but without malice.

"We just wanted to make sure you were okay" said Quinn as she kneeled down in front of Santana and looked up at her, "we're sisters and we stick by one another…not run off" said Quinn as she glanced over at Rachel and gave her a pointed look before looking back at Santana.

Rachel sucked her teeth and she could almost feel the small diva rolling her eyes at Quinn.

Santana smirked slightly, "So when are we doing this 'for sisters only' dinner" said Santana effectively ending any conversation having to deal with her.

Everyone took the hint before Rachel responded, "Well I was thinking we could meet next Wednesday at your apartment. I really haven't thought of an activity to do yet, maybe dinner and just relaxing."

"Sounds good to me, I'll cook up something" said Santana.

"I figured you would" replied Rachel "and I'm sure to have something for us to do that would be cool and supply an opportunity for us to bond."

They all agreed and headed out of the auditorium and towards class, albeit late.

She didn't get another text from Sage the rest of the day. It bothered her completely but she gave her the space it seemed she actually needed. Glee rehearsal went unnecessarily long that day but they all knew it would be like this for awhile because their performances had to be right. Mercedes dropped her off at the hospital after stopping at Chipotle and picking them up a couple of burritos. She was sure Sage was tired of the hospital food by now.

Once Santana entered the room, Sage greeted her with a warm smile, which made her feel better about the day's events. When Sage noticed the bag of food, her eyes lit up and she motioned Santana over to her and they ate in an amiable silence. Sage asked about her day and Santana went over it briefly not wanting to upset Sage like she'd figured she did earlier. Once they were done Sage pulled Santana into bed with her and Santana instantly spooned her. She felt Sage take a sniff at her neck again before fully relaxing and going to sleep. Santana wasn't tired at all and she was just looking at Sage's body that she was still holding very carefully like fine china. Santana noticed that her skin was a little on the bruised side like she was scrubbing herself harshly and that her pajamas where all white, like they'd been freshly laundered. Santana smelled Sage's hair and it smelled like shampoo but not necessarily the kind Sage used to use before.

Deciding she had enough of the analyzing, she fell asleep with her girl in her arms hoping the next day would bring about something better.

At five in the morning she awoke to Sage's eyes looking at her, "morning" Santana crooked out as she begin to stretch her limbs.

"Hey" was all she got in return.

"Did you get some rest?" she questioned.

Sage shrugged her shoulders in response before pulling away from her and stretching her body, "you have practice today?" her girlfriend asked.

"Yeah, Schue's really serious this go around and so is Rachel…it's like double the annoyance and terror" joked Santana hoping to make Sage laugh but she only smiled kindly.

"I hope you have a good day today, will you come back here after practice?" asked Sage.

"I promise" whispered Santana looking at Sage deeply in her eyes. They used to be able to connect with one another with just eye contact but she couldn't see past the ever present hurt that was now in Sage's eyes every time she looked at her and Santana could literally feel and hear her heart breaking. She wanted to make it all go away for Sage, but the only person that could do was looking up at her like she couldn't wait for her to leave. Sighing Santana climbed out of the bed and went to grab her book bag and jacket she brought herself for her birthday.

"I always liked that jacket on you" Sage said quietly.

"Me too" said Santana jokingly, causing Sage to chuckle. "I'll see you later okay" whispered Santana as she walked over and pressed a soft peck to Sage's lips, which Sage only gave a small strained smile in response. She grabbed Santana's hand and squeezed tightly before letting it go. It was done so quickly Santana wasn't sure if she was imagining things.

Being completely conflicted and confused over her feelings she stroked Sage's cheek lovingly before making a quick exit. She debated on going to see her mom and new brother but decided against it. Instead of calling her dad or Nana to pick her up she decided to walk home from the hospital, her mind needed to be cleared. Walking home she realized why she spent so long being angry; her anger was the only emotion she wanted to feel because the rest of this bullshit was for the birds. Santana had always been an emotional child and she learned at an early age that having an ever present scowl and quick wit, kept everyone at bay and it prevented her from getting her feelings hurt.

After all this fucking therapy and becoming a Corcoran, she always felt like she was on the verge of breaking down sobbing. Not just a good cry but just crying out and wanting someone to rock her back and forth. Marissa always said it was good because instead of running away and coping like she had been, she was facing things head on; but right now all of this was a bit much. Not being able to leave Ohio, feeling stuck, and now her relationship with Sage being something she didn't understand any longer was enough to make Santana want to punch someone…repeatedly. Shivering at that thought process she crossed the street and continued to make her way home. Punching someone over and over again is what got her in this mess to begin with.

Santana was wrapped up in her head so much she made it home in no time and was opening the door just as her Nana was putting a pot of water on the stove.

"Peanut, I thought you were gonna call me so I could bring you a change of clothes" admonished her grandmother who motioned for her to come sit down.

Santana dropped her bag by the door and went to sit at the kitchen table not even bothering to respond. Nana had been staying with them until her mom and the baby came home, so things would feel a little normal. The older woman knew they could take care of themselves but she wasn't going to let them do it. Terry had went the night before to go pick up his parents and TJ so they could see the baby, so Uncle Stephen was snoring lightly in the family room.

"What's going on in that beautiful brain of yours?" asked the older woman.

"I feel lost" said Santana, not being able to keep anything inside any longer.

Nana had sat across from her and waited patiently for Santana to explain.

"I-it's Sage. I don't know how to be around her anymore. I mean I use to could read her body language and everything with no problem and now…now I can't. One minute it's like she wants me there and the next it feels like she can't wait for me to leave. She keeps asking me to promise her things, which I don't mind but it almost seems desperate and then she like keeps smelling me. She refuses to talk about what happen, even a little bit and it feels like the only time she wants me around or wants to talk to me is when she's falling asleep…I don't get it" Santana said with watery eyes.

"Santana look at me baby" said Nana in a soft tone. The older woman waited until their eyes connected before continuing, "I want you to listen to me very carefully…okay" said Nana.

"Okay" whispered Santana as a tear fell out of her eye.

Her grandmother reached up and smoothed it off her cheek quickly as if it was never there, "things between the two of you are going to be different from now on. She was raped and it happened more than once."

Santana felt her stomach bottom out and she bent over in pain as what the woman was telling her was trying to make sense in her mind.

Nana reached over and pulled her with that ever surprising strength into her arms and forced Santana on her lap in what was becoming a usual thing for the odd pair, "I don't want to hurt you San but you have to hear this, so you can be prepared. The Sage you fell in love with isn't there any longer…she's going to be different from now on. She's still trying to come to terms with what happened to her and I suspect a part of her wants to go back to the way things were before she was taken forcibly, but she's not that same young woman. She's changed and she's trying to figure out a way to work that out in her own mind. Santana you represent her past, what was good and what she loved but some dramatic and tragic horrible things have happened. That roller coaster ride you feel when you're with her or talking to her is Sage trying to come to terms with how much this is going to change everything about who she is or who she was…and I have a feeling you can relate" said Nana as Santana cried softly into the woman's shoulder.

Brittany popped into her head when Nana said that and Santana buried her face further into her shoulder. She could relate to that push and pull feeling because Santana had done it to Brittany after her parent's accident. There were days all she wanted was for Brittany to be there and love her but on her worse days…her worse days she was downright mean and pushed Brittany away with her words and eventually her actions.

"I don't want us to end up like that Nana…I would die of a broken heart if things ended badly like they did between Brittany and me" Santana mumbled pitifully.

"I know sweetheart, that's why I'm telling you everything I can, and some things I'm not suppose to" replied Nana as she maneuvered Santana's face slightly so they were now looking at one another, "you have to know what to expect honey. Do you love her?" she asked.

"Of course I love her" Santana said, slightly offended that the question was even asked.

"I mean do you really love her Santana" said Nana, who cut her off when she was about to respond, "because if you do, you have to be ready for all the changes that are coming your way" said Nana seriously, "like her not wanting sex for a long while."

"I actually wasn't expecting sex. I-I'm surprised that she still let's me kiss her" replied Santana quietly.

"I'm just saying it might not happen for awhile. Not to mention she may have nightmares. You may notice her constantly bathing-"

"I saw some bruises on her earlier that looked like she was scrubbing to hard" replied Santana sitting up slightly and looking at her grandmother.

"She just wants to feel clean is all" Nana replied quietly. Santana shook her head in disgust. What did these people do to her girl?

"She's gonna need therapy as well" sighed Nana and Santana knew that was to be expected, "there will probably be days where she seems fine and everything's okay, and other days where she seems uncharacteristically dramatic."

"Mood swings" whispered Santana and Nana nodded.

"Um, she'll probably refuse to discuss any of it with you but be patient Santana…when's she's ready she'll talk but don't try to force her into it…okay?" Nana said with a raised brow.

"Okay" responded Santana, it was a lot to take in but she could do this. She had to do this for the both of them, for their relationship. She would be Sage's strong support, the person she could depend on along with Sage's family.

"Honestly, we don't know how she's going to respond to this in the short term or the long term, either way you have to be flexible San. And on those days where it seems a lot of you to handle, you have your family here for you as well as that punching bag outside…it's warm enough now for you to get some use out of it again" said Nana.

Santana's lips went into a thin line…she didn't want to have to use that bag again because she saw it as a coping mechanism when she was at her worse. The fact that she might have to employ that tactic again was a painful realization as to where she was right now, she felt stuck yet again.

"If I use that Nana, I don't think I've grown at all this year" whispered Santana as tears leaked out of her eyes. She was looking at her grandmother with such heartbreak that she saw the older woman's eyes water as well.

"That's not true…at all" said the woman with a shaky voice, "the Santana I met over a year ago would have cut people down with her words because she's in so much pain, she would've gotten drunk and been careless, she would've gone out and had meaningless sex just to feel something besides anger and pain and she wouldn't have walked through that door and opened up so easily about what she was feeling…it just wouldn't have happened darling" said Nana as tears finally fell out of her eyes. Santana shook her head in disagreement because even though everything Nana said was true a large part of her wanted to do all of those things the woman suggested, "don't shake your head no. I know you feel stuck Santana and a large part of you wants to go out and do all of those things but something in you is saying no. Something in you wants better and you're choosing to be better" said Nana as she drew Santana into a hug that she instantly melted into. "You're not stuck baby" said Nana as she began to rock them back in forth, "it's just a transition and growth" she whispered.

"Growth sucks" Santana deadpanned causing Nana to chuckle. "Yeah it can suck from time to time."

The older woman held the younger one for quite awhile. She heard movement in the house and knew her sisters were up and that was confirmed with Beth came running out of her bedroom in search of breakfast and her mama. Nana kindly reminded the almost three year old that Shelby was in the hospital with the new baby and Santana chuckled at the slightly disgusted face Beth made. They were in for it when Brandon and Shelby came home.

"I'm gonna get ready for school" Santana said getting up off Nana's lap.

"You know I can call your parole officer and tell them you weren't feeling well so you can stay home" replied Nana as she got up quickly and went towards the refrigerator to start breakfast.

"No thanks, if I stay home my mind will be in overdrive, plus we have major practice for Nationals this afternoon" said Santana as she smoothed down Beth's bed head before giving her little sister a small peck, which Beth looked up at her and grinned in appreciation. The kid was spoiled but definitely loved and even if she felt stuck at least she had the little monster and new little monster here to play with.

Santana got ready in record time and Mercedes had waited for her so she could drive them to school. They stopped at the Lima Bean even though they were going to be late and she knew her darker sister wanted to say something to her but to her surprise, Mercedes kept mum. 'I guess I'm not the only one growing' thought Santana to herself as they made their way towards the office to grab their late passes.

The rest of the week went by similarly for Santana. She went to school, and glee club practice and her evenings were spent with Sage. Minimal talking happened between them and Sage tended to clutch to Santana went she went to sleep at night. When she awoke, Sage was always up before Santana, watching her in silence. Santana would give her a soft peck before leaving and they texted one another modestly through the day. She remembered everything her Nana had explained to her and did her own research on the matter so she could be better prepared. Santana also contacted Marissa and scheduled extra sessions because she could feel depression coming and creeping doubts were always in the back of her mind.

When Sage was released from the hospital, Santana was there along with the McLaurin's helping her get acclimated back home and back to what life was before. With the help of Nana McLaurin, they cooked one of Sage's favorite meals of spaghetti and meatballs and it was a little awkward when they all sat down but Tyler was able to get Sage to smile and eventually laugh with his antics. Something Santana hadn't been able to do and she had to bite down the jealousy she felt because of it. After dinner, Tyler, Kitty, and Santana escorted Sage upstairs to her room.

Santana was beginning to notice that ever since leaving the hospital Sage was speaking a lot more. Maybe it was being in that place that had Sage on edge or maybe it was just her, Santana hadn't quite figured it out yet.

As soon as they walked into Sage's room, the biracial girl practically ran over to the guitar that Santana brought her for Christmas. Sage picked it up and clutched the guitar to her body as if she was greeting a long lost friend. Santana saw tears falling out of Sage's eyes and Tyler went over to try and console his sister but soon as he wrapped his arms around her waist she moved away from him as if she'd been scolded by something hot.

Santana's breath caught in her throat and she could see the hurt that instantly filled Tyler's eyes, "I'm not gonna hurt you" he said brokenly to his twin.

Sage closed her eyes as more tears fell out, "I know" she said barely above a whisper, "I'm sorry…y-yo-you just scared me" she stuttered out.

Tyler's shoulders slumped and she heard Sage apologize again but the tenseness from her girlfriend's body never left. Tyler moved back quietly with his hands up in a defenseless matter until he was by Kitty again. Santana made to move next to Sage to help her calm down but Sage put her hand in the air halting Santana's movement towards her, "um I just need a minute please" said Sage as she opened her eyes and they connected with Santana's.

"Okay" replied Santana.

"Actually I'm just tired and I want to be alone please" Sage said shakily. They were all stunned by her admission but they turned and left out of the room swiftly, closing the door behind them.

"This sucks" whispered Kitty once they were alone in the hallway.

"Indeed" replied Santana quietly.

"Where's Rachel?" asked Tyler suddenly looking at her with watery eyes.

"She's getting ready for our sisters dinner tonight" replied Santana, "we were supposed to do it on Wednesday but because of practice we rescheduled it for today" rushed out Santana.

"You'd think she'd have time for me today" he asked emotionally.

"Rachel will always have time for you Ty" whispered Santana, "she's in love with you."

He turned suddenly without saying anything else and practically ran down the steps. Santana shook her head as she made to follow him, but Kitty grabbing her wrist stopped her progress, "it's going to get better…she's not always going to be like this forever" said Kitty with certainty.

"I hope not" Santana said after taking a large breath and sighing, "she didn't deserve any of this that's happening" whispered Santana before walking down the steps and sitting on their living room couch. It seemed like a lifetime ago that they had got busted for having a serious make out session and now…now things just seemed utterly bleak.

Pop Pop walked by and squeezed her shoulder before leaving out of the house, while Nana McLaurin was in the kitchen cleaning. Santana decided to just fall asleep so that her brain would shut off. She woke up with a couch throw around her body and slightly slumped over. It took her awhile to catch her brain up to where she was and she got off of the couch to stretch out. Walking upstairs, she knocked before entering Sage's room.

She heard the voice of Kitty telling her to come in and was surprised to see Kitty cuddled up with Sage looking so comfortably. Pushing the jealousy away Santana whispered out her greeting, while Sage whispered hers back. Sage motioned for her to come over and Santana obliged quickly. When she reached the bed Sage motioned her again to bring her face closer, which Santana did and she was surprised when Sage gave her a lingering kiss on the lips. Santana began responding when Sage pulled away, "I love you Lopez, please don't question that" whispered Sage emotionally. "I'm going to get better but please don't question my love" she said before Santana could respond.

"I won't" whispered Santana as a tear fell off her face and onto Sage's cheek that Santana quickly wiped off.

"You love me?" asked Sage softly.

"Forever and always" Santana whispered back.

Quinn

Sister's night only finally had arrived and Quinn had to seriously hide her excitement. Things in her personal life couldn't be better and her acceptance letter to Yale had arrived that week. She'd gotten early admission and it stated in the letter that her honest truth about surviving teen pregnancy, the loss of her mom, her father's arrest and her adoption is what really helped her get in. The only people that knew about her acceptance were Kitty and her sisters and tonight they were going to celebrate.

Mercedes had scored weed from somewhere, probably Puck, and Rachel was getting the opportunity to check off one of their 'to do' activities. Santana cooked tacos and even though she said it was a basic meal, they were the best damn tacos Quinn ever had. Santana made some vegetable medley and Mexican rice to go along as the sides and Quinn was definitely in heaven.

They sat around Santana's small but quaint dining room table as they ate and talked. Laughter and food was shared and it was just good to see Santana smile again. Quinn missed her dimples and so did her other sisters. They all understood the difficulties that were going on with Sage, in fact Quinn got a daily report from Kitty, whom vowed to stand by Sage no matter what. It was just good to have their sister back…even if it was only for a little while.

"I'm just really excited for you Quinn" said Rachel who was literally bouncing in her seat.

"Thanks Munchkin, I'm excited as well" replied Quinn with a slight blush, "I never thought I could get out. I dreaded not doing it and with everything against us, we still made it" said Quinn with conviction. Santana looked down and glanced away, "Stop it Santana!" said Quinn seriously, "you fucking made it" she said slamming her hand on the table for emphasis.

"Are you kidding me?" asked Santana incredulously with a hint of anger.

"C'mon guys don't do this" whispered Rachel.

"Don't do what Rach?! Remind my sister on how fucking awesome she is no matter what!" yelled Quinn as her sisters looked up at her with bated breath. "I'm tired of seeing you like this San, you're so unhappy and before you say anything, I get it…I really do. I understand about Sage and about not getting out of Ohio but you still made it through everything San, everything that they tried to use against you, that you used against yourself and you're here, with us. You're not a fucking loser so stop being depressed and acting like one" said Quinn as her volume became softer.

There was a tensed silence around the table and Quinn glanced over to see Rachel wringing her hands together and Mercedes biting down on her bottom lip nervously.

"You get it?" said Santana tersely but unexpectedly calm, "you get what exactly? Hum? You understand what it feels like to have your girlfriend be raped and know it was nothing you could do to protect her? You get that, huh? To understand what it's like to watch her jump away from her own brother multiple times out of fear. To have to hold her gently because you're scared that if you hold her to tight that she'll have a trigger and jump away from you?" said Santana.

Quinn felt a lump developing in her throat as she watched Santana's eyes turn red and tears slid down her face, "You get what it's like to be so scared that your girlfriend blames you for everything that's happened to her; and you know what that feels like because you already have an ex girlfriend who does that and if your current girlfriend does that to you, you'll have to accept the fact that it's you whose the fuck up. You'll have to accept the fact that it's you who's destined to be alone, to be a fucking loser…a Lima loser to be exact. And it's crazy because you understand Quinn, what it feels like to not be able to leave the state after graduation even though that's all you dreamed about since you were nine. You understand what it's like to get rejection letters from college Quinn, don't you? Rejection letters that say they didn't reject you because of your grades or the fact that you're not a well rounded student, but because you have a sealed record and they just don't trust your behavior…at all. And these rejections didn't come from the out of state schools that you had just begun applying for when you got the news you were stuck in Ohio, no these rejections came from your fall back schools" said Santana as she chocked back a sob. "They rejected me from every major university in Ohio, Quinn" said Santana as tears were streaming down her face.

Rachel covered her mouth to fight from crying out loud and Mercedes was crying just as hard as Santana, "So you get what it's like to resign to the fact that you're truly fucking stuck in Lima, Ohio and the best you'll be able to do is community fucking college, while you watch all your friends and your sisters leave…never to return again. You get it Quinn? You understand everything I'm feeling…right?" said Santana as she finally just completely broke down into sobs.

Quinn was out of her seat in an instant as she practically ran over to her sister in need. Humbling herself she fell to her knees and placed her head in Santana's lap, "I'm sorry, I'm so fucking sorry" Quinn kept repeating over and over again. She just couldn't wrap her head around how she'd hurt Santana with her words and more importantly how much Santana had been bottling up inside. Rachel and Mercedes had surrounded the both of them and they were all crying rather unattractively. Santana was just a wreck and the more Quinn apologized through her tears, the harder Santana broke down.

It was fitting that their first sisters only dinner had them crying and emotional; it was such a Corcoran thing to do, but it was necessary for all of them. Sometimes you just needed a good cry. Once they had all calmed down considerably, especially Santana they broke apart and moved their 'party' into Santana's bedroom.

"Have you told mom and dad yet?" asked Rachel feebly as she plopped down on Santana's bed.

"Naw" replied Santana sniffling, "their just so excited about the new baby. I think we've all had enough bad news for a lifetime in this family. I'll tell em when I'm ready I guess" whispered Santana as she sat on a chair in the corner.

Quinn looked around at couple of pictures of Santana and her mom, that were strategically placed around, "You're mom was beautiful San, you come from good stock" whispered Quinn as Mercedes came in the room with a cardboard box and flung it on the bed, with the weed on top of it.

"Thanks" Santana said softly as Quinn watched her close her eyes and take several deep breaths, clearly still trying to calm herself down.

"Alright, enough of this sad shit" Mercedes said as she began working on rolling the weed, "Rachel you wanted to get high so let's go. Santana you're smoking with us too okay" said Mercedes with complete authority.

"Squirt I can't and you know why" Santana replied without opening her eyes.

"No worries, you'll pass your drug test because Puck or Sam is gonna give us their pee. I've worked this shit out already so, we're all gonna get fucked up and you deserve to after the year we've had" Mercedes said as she nodded her head towards Santana, "now come over here and help me roll this" she instructed.

Santana looked up with a perked eyebrow that made Quinn chuckle at the use of her own mannerism she now sees within her sisters, and thought for a few seconds before shrugging and getting up to join Mercedes on the bed.

Quinn and Rachel watched with rapt attention at how well Mercedes and Santana were rolling up the weed, "Where did you guys learn how to do that?" asked Quinn inquisitively.

"Marcellus" Mercedes and Santana said simultaneously before smiling in remembrance, "we did this a few times together with him" Mercedes explained "and he taught us everything he knew" she said before she sparked up a joint and took a hit before blowing it out slowly. She took another before passing it to Santana who repeated the process.

Santana passed it to Quinn, who took a couple hits herself and they all explained it to Rachel, who chocked the first time because she took too much in but became a pro after a few go rounds.

By the end of the night the girls were giggling and pretty high. Quinn had brought her camera so several pictures had been taken of them at various stages of 'highdom'. Quinn's favorite picture was of the four of them looking up into the camera as they all puffed out weed filled smoke. They looked high but as Santana said they also looked badass. A part of Quinn wanted to share the pic on social media but she knew doing that would for sure get Santana in a worse predicament then she already was in.

She didn't know how much weed they smoked but after awhile Santana was curled up on the bed trying not to drift off to sleep, while Mercedes had been gone. Rachel was the only one fully awake, with her legs up in the air singing some song softly. Her smaller sister didn't need anything else at all that night. It didn't dawn on Quinn until she was lying on the living room couch that Rachel was actually singing Santana to sleep. Quinn chuckled at thought about how weird her family was.

Finding her phone in her coat pocket, she quickly sped dialed Kitty, not realizing it was four in the morning.

"Hum" Kitty said with a hoarse voice.

"Wake up babe, I wanna talk" Quinn said into the phone.

"Quinn" whined Kitty as she heard some shuffling around, "the hell…it's four in the morning, why are you still up?" asked Kitty irritably.

"Cause I was bonding with my sisters" giggled Quinn.

"Oh my gosh…are you high?" Kitty asked with a hint of amusement in her voice.

"Maaayybe" sung out Quinn before breaking out into laughter.

"I can't believe you" laughed Kitty, "you clearly don't need to smoke that stuff anymore…just stay away from drugs all together" said Kitty half seriously.

"I dunno if I can do that Kit Kat" Quinn said suddenly serious. Silence came between them as they were listening to one another breath, "what's this late night call really about Lucy?" questioned Kitty.

"You know I got early admissions right" Quinn said quietly.

"I know Quinn, you've told me" answered Kitty honestly.

"That means I'm gonna be leaving early during the summer" whispered Quinn.

"I know" whispered back Kitty, "why are you saying this?"

"Cause I want you to know that I love you Kitty, I really do, but I'm scared about leaving this summer and doing the long term thing" Quinn seriously.

"I'm scared to Quinn" Kitty said automatically, "I love you so much and I'm not ready to see you leave."

"But I have to Kit Kat, I'm gonna be gone for awhile" reasoned Quinn.

"I know your gonna be gone awhile but I'll be here waiting on you. I'm not going anywhere" said Kitty, "what are you really afraid of Lucy?"

"I cheated before in a past relationship" Quinn said barely above a whisper, "and I'm afraid that I'd do it again because of distance. I'm afraid of hurting you and not being true."

Quinn could here Kitty thinking on the other end of the phone and she cursed the weed for making her so honest, "Quinn, do you love me?" asked Kitty.

"Without a doubt" replied Quinn honestly.

"Then promise me something" said Kitty.

"Anything."

"If you're attracted to someone and find yourself wanting to be with them, then break up with me and don't hesitate to let me go. I'm a big girl Quinn I can handle it" said Kitty, "now promise me."

"I promise" Quinn said after a few beats.

"Now this is what I want you to do" said Kitty.

"What?" replied Quinn.

"Go to sleep and we'll discuss this more when you're not high and it's not after four in the morning…okay" smiled Kitty. Quinn could hear her smiling and it instantly relaxed and eased her fears.

"Okay" said Quinn, "sweet dreams Kit Kat."

"Sweet dreams love…now go sleep that off" whispered Kitty before hanging up.

It took twenty minutes for Quinn to finally get off the couch and walk back into the bedroom. Santana was finally asleep and Rachel had somehow maneuvered herself halfway on top of Mercedes, who was completely oblivious to it all, and was sleep with her mouth hanging halfway open. Quinn crawled onto the little bit of space that was left and was out like a light before her head was fully comfortable on the pillow.

Mercedes

They had gotten back home from Santana's apartment late in the evening on Sunday. Everyone separated once they entered the house to go and get ready for the next school day and the week ahead. Mercedes decided it was best if she just got up earlier the next day to get ready because she had more pressing matters to think about. She waited for her sisters to fully disperse before making her move.

Knocking on the master bedroom door, she waited for her Terry to welcome her in before opening the door.

"Hey kiddo" said Terry, as he turned his television down, "what can I help you with?" he asked as he patted the bed.

"Um, I wanted to talk to you if that's okay" replied Mercedes.

"Oh, this sounds serious" said Terry as he sat up, "should I get Shelby to be on speaker phone?" he asked.

"I think that would be a good idea" whispered Mercedes. She watched as Terry quickly dialed Shelby's number. She heard her mom answer the phone and an odd sense of peace coursed through her body. She missed having Shelby home and she was very tired of going to the hospital to visit her and her little brother. Brandon was doing well as a newborn and he even gained a couple of ounces from feeding. They were looking to come home in another week and a half and their family would finally be whole again.

"Squirt, what's going on honey?" said Shelby with concern.

"I'm gonna just be straight forward" said Mercedes as she turned to face Terry, "I'm worried about Santana" she said.

"How come?" asked Terry with genuine concern.

"She's harboring everything inside because she doesn't want to react and be like she used to" said Mercedes tearing up, "and I'm afraid that when we leave for school she's gonna revert back and be worse than she ever was."

"Why do you feel that way?" asked Shelby worriedly.

Mercedes told her adoptive parents about Santana's rejection letters from college and her doubts about Sage and her future, "when we're gone, she's going to need something to do, to keep her occupied cause if not she's gonna go back to what got her in all this mess to begin with" said Mercedes finishing. She felt guilty about betraying her sisters trust like this but keeping Marcellus' promise was important to her. No matter what she has to look out for Santana, just like Santana would do and has done for her. "I'm scared for her and I'm only telling you guys this because I love my sister. You have to plan out something for her to do once we're gone; and you will have to force her to do it because she stubborn and that's how Santana is. She will be cantankerous and a total bitch but this has to be done for her benefit and the benefit of the entire family" said Mercedes finishing up her story.

"Wow" sighed Terry looking at Mercedes.

"Wow is right" said Shelby over the phone.

"I know it's a lot and I don't want you guys attacking her asking why she didn't say anything. Just-just when the time is right have a talk with her and help her. Be it getting her to go to community college and if she refuses maybe a job learning to cook somewhere. She's gonna need something" whispered Mercedes, "and I can't be here to help her through."

"Okay honey, Terry and I will talk about it and we won't confront her until the time is right, but thank you for coming to talk to us. We really appreciate it" said Shelby.

"Most definitely" said Terry in his deep voice.

Mercedes took a deep breath before rising off the bed and giving Terry a kiss on the cheek goodnight.

She went in the room where Rachel was already in her bed, talking on the phone to who she assumed was Tyler.

"Hold on Ty" said Rachel quietly, "how'd it go?" she asked looking at Mercedes expectantly.

"About as good as it's gonna get for right now Rach. They know and we'll work together as a family to make sure she's okay" said Mercedes. This seemed to appease Rachel and she went back to talking to Tyler on the phone.

That evening in the shower, Mercedes prayed fervently as she cried. Another transition was upon them and she was seriously thinking about waiting a year before moving with Rachel to New York, so she could be there for Santana, the girl who's been her sister since they were kids.

Santana

It was moving towards the end of April and things at McKinley where in full force for the end of the year activities. Everyone was discussing prom, graduation, college, and in glee club the talk was about Nationals.

Sage had been home for almost a month now and they were still very much in love and she was still being a rock for Sage. Today was Sage's first day back at school and Santana feels more nervous than she knows Sage probably is. They hadn't seen one another all weekend because Sage needed some space to get her mind ready for the masses of McKinley.

Puck, Tyler, Finn, Mike, Artie, Sam and every person in glee let it be known that if Sage was messed with, there would be hell to pay. In fact even though she wasn't on the squad anymore Quinn reverted back to the attitude she had during her head cheerleader days. Combine that with Kitty going on the war path as well and the social hierarchy was for the first time bending in the glee clubs way. Even Sue Sylvester was backing them up.

Santana waited for Sage to arrive by her locker and Rachel decided she would wait with her. Her smaller sister could tell she was nervous so Rachel was just randomly talking about nothing until Sage showed up with Tyler and Kitty.

Rachel was asking Santana about the food that was still stocked in the school pantry that Santana was still in charge of when Santana caught a glimpse of Sage walking down the hall in-between Tyler and Kitty and she felt her breathing speed up, while her heart felt like it was beating out of her chest. She heard Rachel trail off her talking as Santana began walking towards Sage and Sage towards her. Their eyes had meet and Santana felt as if the rest of the world had went away and all that mattered was her beautiful girlfriend. When they were finally standing in front of one another, Santana starred into those light eyes and it was like she was falling in love all over again.

"Um so I'm gonna go cause it feels like I'm intruding in some weird mating ritual" Kitty smartly said before sashaying down the corridor. Tyler walked away quietly but Santana quickly glanced at Tyler and he had a small smirk on his face.

"You like it?" asked Sage drawing Santana's attention back to her.

"I think you're beautiful" replied Santana not caring that they were in the middle of the hall in other students were casting them inquisitive looks.

"You don't think it's too much do you?" she asked as she touched her hair subconsciously. Sage had cut her long locks a little above her shoulders and although it was surprising to Santana at first, she really did like it. Santana carefully raised her arm and she touched a soft lock of hair before placing her hand gently on Sage's cheek, which Sage leaned into as she fluttered her eyes close, "it's perfect baby and it fits you…especially with that dope ass jacket you have on" smiled Santana causing Sage to laugh aloud. Their eyes connected and they were starring once again, much like on the first day that they met all those months ago. Suddenly Sage reached up and pulled Santana's face towards her own and planted a kiss on her lips which Santana immediately responded to. Sage took her by surprise by deepening the kiss, something that hadn't happened since Sage had been home, and she had no problems with responding.

Her tongue mixing with Sage's felt like home and for the first time in weeks, she knew that they would be alright. That they would make it and with everything that had gone wrong, that was the best news she'd received.

The bell rang out loudly, scaring Sage and forcing them apart. Sage's hand flung up over her heart and her chest was moving up and down.

"It's okay, it was just the bell" Santana said quietly. Sage closed her eyes and was attempting to calm herself down.

"I won't let anything or anyone hurt you ever again" Santana said so that only Sage could hear as the hallway was beginning to clear, "you can trust me, I'll take care of you."

Sage nodded and Santana gave Sage a lose hug, but Sage pulled Santana in and clutched her to her body tightly, "thank you" she whispered in Santana's ear.

"You're welcome" replied Santana softly, "anytime, forever and always."

Shelby

She couldn't believe that they were actually coming home. Terry had picked her and the baby up from the hospital early that day and after being in there for a little of a month they were both given the all clear to go home.

Terry was all smiles and Shelby's face hurt from smiling as they turned into the drive way of their residence and Terry parked the car in the garage. Terry quickly got out so that he could help Shelby out of the truck. Once she was safely out she went to the backseat and pulled Brandon's detachable car seat out of its harness. Terry grabbed the bags and they went through the side door of the house, down the hall and straight into the kitchen.

Shelby was greeted with a 'welcome home' banner and she couldn't help but laugh when a loud surprise rang out through the house. Shelby looked around and her entire family was there, but she couldn't pay them much attention because Brandon started crying very loudly and Shelby knew it was from the noise.

She put the car seat on the kitchen table and pulled her new born out, quickly quieting him down by putting his pacifier in. Everyone rushed over to get a glimpse of him and that allowed Shelby the opportunity to see who was all there.

Her mom as well as her brother had huge smiles on their faces as they looked down lovingly at Brandon who quieted down and was now looking around and that typical baby way, while he held a death grip on one of her fingers. Her in laws made an appearance along with TJ and they were cooing at how cute Brandon was. In one short month his features had changed quite a bit. His cheeks had filled out considerably and they were biggest things she'd ever seen. His dimples were a lot more noticeable and his hair was even curlier and fuller on top of his head.

Shelby gave TJ a huge hug and it was no surprise that Beth was in his arms, looking down at Brandon with a lot of skepticism, while her four older daughters clambered around trying to get a good look at the newest member. Everyone was making a big fuss over Brandon, cooing and talking about how he cute he was…everyone except Beth that is.

"I don't like him" she said loudly causing everyone to stop and look at her, "mama you should take him back" she said seriously.

Mercedes and Rachel broke into a fit of giggles, while Santana mumbled something about 'Quinn's spawn', causing Quinn to slap her on the back of her head, which in turn caused the two of them to start fussing.

"Welcome home babe" said Terry behind her with a deep kind voice.

"It's good to be home again" replied Shelby as she watched her mother admonishing her oldest children, "It truly is good to be back home."
