Xena's Dream (Super Mario Galaxy Crossover)
"What the-?" Xena starts. She presses her fingers into the metal floor and lifts up from lying on her stomach. The urge to twitch, or hyperventilate, rises as she gazes around the area. Or, lack of area. She is on a ship. In space. She is on a starship in space. Rosalina's starship. Her mind is having a hard time wrapping around the thought.
"Are you alright?" asks a blue Luma as it floats down to stare into her face.
Xena's brain stutters at hearing the raindrop-like star. Its voice sounds like glitter and sparkles, yet her mind can process what it is saying. Realizing she's staring, Xena gives a weak smile and answers, "Yes, thank you."
The blue Luma blinks and smiles back, "You're welcome. Are you here to see Mama?"
"Uh." Xena stumbles on what to say. She sits up, the Luma floating to keep at face height. "I don't know. Would she mind if I saw her?"
"Nope." The Luma twirls in excitement. "Come on, follow me! Mama will be excited to have a new friend!"
Xena flinches and scrambles to follow the Luma. They don't go too far, just until they reach the glowing ball powering the starship. Xena takes a deep breath, admiring the strong looking blonde woman talking with other Lumas. The blue Luma rushes ahead, bring the attention of Rosalina to it. Xena hesitantly follows.
"- entrance deck," the blue Luma finishes saying as Xena comes up.
"Oh," the woman smiles pleasantly at the Lumas surrounding her. "Would you please excuse me while I greet our guest?"
They nod and scatter, chatting excitedly about the 'new' brunette. Xena looks from them to the graceful woman turning around. The teenager resists the urge to gulp at the sharp smile she gets. She clasps her hands behind her back and stands straighter, trying not to fidget. The cold sweeping through her only grows as Rosalina points her wand at her. This is not the kind-hearted woman from Super Mario Galaxy.
"Who are you?" Rosalina asks. Her voice is as piercing as a dagger.
"Xena, ma'am," Xena whispers out.
"Hmm," Rosalina hums and retracts her wand. She taps it in the other hand, looking suspiciously down her nose. "If Jasmine sent you, you can go back and tell her I don't want to talk to her."
"Excuse me?" Xena asks, not liking feeling confused in front of the woman of stature.
"I don't want to talk to her." Rosalina huffs out a breath. "How hard is that to understand?"
"Excuse me, ma'am," Xena whispers out. The blonde raises a delicate eyebrow but doesn't interrupt. "Who is Jasmine?"
Rosalina gives her a blank look, "Don't play games with me."
"I'm not," Xena quickly says, waving her hands up in defence. The teen takes notice how Rosalina follows her left hand like a hawk. "I swear. I do not know who you are talking about."
"You aren't even here," Rosalina mumbles. "That's why you haven't changed it."
"Excuse me?" Xena says.
Rosalina leans forwards, startling her. The blonde floats off the ground looking hard into her eyes. When she speaks, Xena can't help but notice her breath smells like glitter and gold, "You really haven't been to the Terminal."
"I'm sorry?" Xena says it more like a question as she leans away.
Rosalina leans back with a bell sounding laugh. "I'm sorry dear. You should have mentioned you weren't from around here yet. My name is Christy. I'm a First Timer for Super Mario Galaxy. What game are you going through right now?"
Xena is taken aback at the change in mood. She mumbles out, "Pokémon X and Y."
Rosa– Christy throws back her head and laughs. "Another Pokémon game? I can imagine how she must be feeling." At Xena's confused expression, she waves off her words. "Don't you worry yet, just work through your game. That's the important part."
Xena stands there confused, but nods as if she understands. Her world gives a violent tilt, and she realizes that it was the starship turning. Rosalina looks amused as the brunette stumbles. Xena puts a hand to her head and says, "I don't think I'm-"
She falls towards the ground, hands outstretched. She disappears before she can land, hitting the floor of the Pokémon Center instead.
Christy shakes her head. She turns back to the glowing ball in the center, changing her wand into a flip cellphone. She takes her time texting her friend-with-benefits before turning to the Lumas floating close.
"I'll be gone for a few minutes," Christy explains with a smile to her 'children'. She gives a chuckle at their whining and starts to call a train. "Don't you worry. I'll be back before you know it."
Disclaimer: I do not own Pokémon. I do not own Super Mario Galaxy, either.
