Chapter Thirty-Nine
Laboratory of Horrors
The turtles and Mona ran along the rooftops trying to get to the Foot Headquarters. They could see the large building in the distance and their hearts burnt with determination as they got closer and closer.
They soon got the building and thy stood staring at it for a long time.
"Well...here we are..." said Donatello "The fortress of the evil Foot Clan..."
"And the sadistic Dr Arden and his freak experiments..." said Mona softly.
"Man I can't wait to kick his butt back to yesterday!" snarled Raphael.
"Ok guys," said Leonardo "We all know the plan, we split here and go through the different entrances, and end up in the laboratory."
"Affirmative Leo." said Raphael "And look after Mona won't you."
"On my honour Raph." said Leonardo placing his hand on Mona's shoulder.
"I'm kinda nervous the Venomous Five will catch us out before we get there..." Michelangelo confessed, his arm though it had healed from the Cobra's nettle like venom, he was worried something worse would happen to his family or himself if they weren't prepared.
"Don't be nervous Mikey." said Donatello "As long as we know what we're doing and watch each others back those freaks won't take us down..."
"Ok..." Michelangelo squeaked.
"Right, we stay in touch via shell-cell, if anything bad happens, be ready for anything!" said Donatello.
"And we won't leave anyone behind." said Leonardo.
All the mutants nodded at each other then went their separate ways to enter the building. Raphael and Michelangelo went for the sewers, Donatello went towards the eastern side of the building to find the window and Mona and Leonardo went down the fire escapes to look for the outside vents.
Leonardo and Mona made their way to the bottom of the building where the vents were.
Leonardo quickly pulled the cover off and stood to the side.
"Ladies first." he said.
Mona smiled at him and clambered inside.
"You always remember your manners Leo." she said "Even when we're about to go into battle, that's what I love about you!"
Leonardo chuckled.
"I just like to have manners." he said as he climbed in after her.
Mona climbed up the vents and kept checking behind her to make sure Leonardo was there.
"I hope we'll succeed in our mission..." Mona whispered as she continued to climb "I hope the others will be alright."
Her stomach clenched as she thought of Raphael and hoped nothing would happen to him this day.
"I can't bear the thought of Pandora having no daddy..." she thought "Or losing one of her uncles..."
She gritted her teeth as Pandora's little face flashed in her mind and she climbed higher and higher determined to get to the laboratory.
Down in the sewers, Michelangelo and Raphael ran through the murky waters until they got to the manhole they needed to get out of.
"Ok, here we are." said Raphael as he climbed up the rugs and opened the manhole. He peeked out to find that they were in a large basement filled with boxes and crates.
"I wonder what the Foot have to store down here?" he thought as he checked the coast was clear.
"Come on Raph move it!" he heard Michelangelo called from below "I don't wanna keep staring at your butt any longer than I have to!"
Raphael groaned and flipped up into the basement before helping Michelangelo out.
"Coast is clear Mikey..." he said "We better find those vents Donny was on about."
"I think they're over there Raph!" said Michelangelo pointing behind his brother.
Raphael saw where Michelangelo was pointing and ran over.
"Well done bro." he said, he looked around once more before pulling the cover off the vents.
As he did so, Michelangelo saw Raphael looked stressed.
"You ok bro?" he asked.
Raphael bit his lip and swallowed hard and tears filled his eyes.
"I'm worried Mikey..." said Raphael "I know we've been doing this for years, fighting evil and confronting many dangers, but since Pandora was born...I'm scared she'll lose one of us...what if she loses her mother..." his voice cracked slightly as he thought of Mona and how he wanted to be with her "What if she loses one of her uncles...?"
Michelangelo wrapped his arms around Raphael and pulled him close.
"She won't bro..." he said "Mona's a strong woman, and we're untouchable...we've been through a lot and we'll come out of this just the same!"
Raphael held his brother close grateful for his comfort.
"Pandora won't lose any of us bro! She won't lose her mummy, her daddy, or her uncles tonight! Especially not her Uncle Mikey!" he grinned widely causing Raphael to smile weakly through his tears.
"Come on bro." said Michelangelo encouragingly "Let's go kick some scientist butt!" he then climbed into the vent, Raphael following close behind.
Meanwhile, Donatello had managed to climb into the building and over to the window where the Laboratory was. He hung on an abseil rope and looked through the window trying to see if he saw the Venomous Five or Dr Arden.
His eyes narrowed behind his mask as he watched intently and held his breath.
All he could see was an empty laboratory, and the many computers and scientific machines that worked and glowed in the dark room.
Taking out his shell-cell he quickly called his brothers and adopted sister to ask where their positions were.
"Ok guys..." he said as soon as he managed to get everyone on the line "Are you in position."
"We are Don!" said Raphael "Mikey and I are outside the door."
"We're in the vent right above the laboratory," said Leonardo "And I can see those machines that freak doctor uses!"
"Ok..." said Donatello "I'm coming in! Leo, you and Mona drop from the ceiling and I'll let you and Michelangelo in, Raph."
"Gotcha." said Michelangelo.
"You're on," said Mona.
Donatello took out a laser pen and instantly made a large hole in the glass so he could swing through.
As soon as he was inside, he saw Leonardo and Mona drop inside.
Donatello felt a sick feeling as he looked around the laboratory, he could see all the machines he had tampered with when he was Dr Arden's prisoner.
He instantly walked over to the door and let Michaelangelo and Raphael inside.
Both of them had their weapons up and ready to fight if there was anyone inside.
"Stay prepared guys..." said Leonardo as he held up his swords "You never know what might be in here..."
The other turtles and Mona agreed as they kept their weapons up to the level of their eyes.
Donatello looked at all the machines and he felt like retching. All showed evidence of many experiments and cruel secrets.
There were many tables with leather straps on them to hold down unwilling victims as they were tested on, giant glass capsules to hold bodies, syringes all labelled and prepared on the many metal tables.
Mona felt her throat tighten as she and Raphael came to a table with many devices that looked like collars with metal balls on them, headgear with retrains on them to open up the mouth or eyes, even wrist bands with syringes on them.
"I'm never going to watch the SAW movies again after seeing this..." she said softly to herself.
Raphael picked up one collar that looked like the one that Donatello was forced to wear and his heart beat faster, he wasn't sure what Dr Arden was using them for, but he wondered if he had used them on some of the Foot Ninja or whether they had taken innocent people off the streets.
Michelangelo meanwhile was looking at some giant glass capsules whilst Leonardo was looking at some notes on a computer near them.
"What in the name of...?" he muttered as he read the notes "This guy truly tries to play God..."
"What have you found Leo?" asked Donatello.
"Information..." said Leonardo "Concerning the Venomous Five...and Dr Arden's future projects..."
Donatello leaned in to have a look and at once his heart beat faster and his throat hurt. Forcing himself not to get angry he began to read.
'I've been planning to do cloning or mutation experiments for a long time, Izo Arashi had given me permission weeks ago, but I never had the right equipment to carry out the experiments, but finally I was able to come up with the formulas to carry out the experiments, all I needed was the samples of DNA and some 'volunteers'
I managed to get three male medical Ninja and two nurses to be subjects to my experiments, needless to say they put up a fight, but luckily my head-on-a-stick was able to convince them otherwise.'
"He experimented on his nurses and the medical ninja!" cried Donatello, he wondered if the ones Dr Arden experimented on were the ones who took part in the attempted operation on Mona.
'I was able to successfully create my new group of reptilian mutants, the Venomous Five, the medical ninja became the Komodo Dragon, the Nile Monitor and the Gila Monster, and the nurses became the Cobra and the Black Mamba.
With their deadly poison and saliva, I pray they will not let me down in their fight against the Ninja Turtles and their Lizard whore.'
Leonardo and Donatello growled angrily as they stared at the journal, especially when it insulted Mona as a whore.
But the worst was to come as they read the lines below.
'Today has been a miracle...for today was the day my great Lord and Master awoke from his coma...it seemed that the hot headed turtle Raphael did not kill him with those toothpicks he carries. I was able to show him the Venomous Five and I am pleased to say he was impressed with me.
So much so he was allowed me to continue doing similar experiments and I plan to create more mutants, not just reptiles, but maybe more dangerous animals, even insects...I cannot wait to begin my research...by the time I have the formulas and the correct amount of victims, I will create an army that will be unstoppable!'
Leonardo's eyes widened in shock.
"No!" he cried "Arashi lives!" he looked over to Raphael and Mona who were still looking at the many devices that Dr Arden had on the tables on the other side of the room, and they hadn't heard him, neither had Michelangelo as he was still looking at the glass capsules.
Donatello growled.
"How could he have survived the wounds Raphael inflicted on him?" he asked with a growl "Raph stabbed him so much he should have died from blood loss..."
"Dr Arden must have used the healing serum on him,either that or invented some new way to restore life into the dead!"
Donatello swallowed hard in anger then looked back at the computer to read the notes about Dr Arden's planned experiments in the future.
"That monster!" Donatello growled "Using innocent people like the ones in his old practice for his cruel experiments!"
Leonardo clenched his fists angrily.
Meanwhile, Michelangelo was still looking through the glass capsules until he came to one that had a face in it. A reptilian face.
Cocking a brow, Michelangelo walked a little closer to the glass capsule to get a better look. No sooner did he do so when he suddenly saw the eyes shift slightly.
Michelangelo narrowed his eyes more in curiosity, but before he had a moment to realise what was going on, the face moved and bared it's long fangs!
Michelangelo screamed in shock and alarm and jumped back taking out his nun chucks as the reptile jumped at him through the glass capsules.
Michelangelo screamed again swinging his nun chucks then saw clearly it was the Komodo Dragon! It had been laying in wait for him!
At the sound of the Komodo Dragon roaring and Michelangelo screaming made everyone jump out of their skins and they instantly ran towards the sound with their weapons ready.
"Intruders!" the Komodo shouted as he growled and stared at the turtles and Mona who stood before him with their weapons ready,
"Did Dr Arden leave you to guard the laboratory like a good dog?" asked Mona as she twirled her fans on her fingers "Didn't know you were a guard dog as well as a scout!"
"Man, you're a sassy one!" the Komodo Dragon teased with a smirk "You'd make a good Venomous Warrior with that fiery attitude of yours."
"Fuck you!" Raphael growled holding up his sai.
"Stand down Komodo!" Leonardo growled "You're outnumbered!"
The Komodo Dragon smirked and Michelangelo gulped, he knew that kind of smile from any enemy.
"Alone?" he asked "Oh no, I'm not alone..."
He clicked his fingers and soon the Nile Monitor, the Gila Monster, the Cobra and the Black Mamba appeared.
"Surprise!" the Cobra hissed.
Michelangelo stepped to the side next to Mona in fear as the Cobra appeared baring her fangs and venom dripped from them.
"So you're all Dr Arden's lapdogs!" Raphael growled "How sad!"
"Lapdogs!" snarled the Gila Monster baring his gagged fangs "I'll show you!" he arched himself ready for combat.
Leonardo held up his swords as the Gila Monster stared at him.
"Venomous Five! Attack!" The Komodo Dragon ordered and the five dangerous reptiles aimed for the turtles and Mona.
At once the gang fought back. Leonardo fought the Komodo Dragon, Raphael fought the Gila Monster, Mona faced the Nile Monitor, Donatello faced the Black Mamba and Michelangelo was confronted with the Cobra.
"Scared turtle?" the Cobra teased as she danced in front of Michelangelo bared her fangs and preparing to spit.
Michelangelo swung his nun chucks and got ready to jump away if she spat.
"No scared of you spitter!" he said as he leapt over her head and swung his nun chucks at her "Why not try fighting instead of relying on your venom!"
"Very well turtle!" hissed the Cobra as she clawed her hands and began to lash and slash at Michelangelo.
Leonardo fought hard against the Komodo Dragon striking his claws with his katana.
Mona kept ducking and using her fans to distract the Nile Monitor, but he continued to try and grab her as she tried to slash him.
Donatello was finding it hard to fight the Black Mamba as she struck at him at all angles with her sharp nails and snapped at him with her fangs as he tried to trip and strike her with his staff.
Meanwhile Raphael tried to catch the Gila Monster off guard with his sai as the reptile tried to bite and claw at him.
As the fight went on, many tables were turned over and machines were hit and damaged as either turtle or Venomous Five member was thrown against them, and electrical surges ran through the laboratory as equipment was damaged.
The fight was starting to get more intense when suddenly a voice was heard at the other end of the laboratory.
"What the fuck?"
Everyone turned to look and were horrified to see Dr Arden standing there with Izo Arashi. The Venomous Five on the other hand looked pleased to see their Masters appear.
"No!" Raphael cried "No! You're dead I killed you!"
"No!" Mona screamed in horror.
"How do you live!?" cried Michelangelo.
Izo Arashi smirked.
"Oh I have my good doctor to thank..." said Arashi "He has indeed taken great care of me, I merely ended up in a coma after being stabbed with those toothpicks of yours Raphael..."
Raphael growled and spun his sai.
"You're gonna regret waking up Arashi!" he snarled "I'm gonna make you suffer more than I did months ago!"
Arashi just laughed then turned to Dr Arden.
"Take them, my good doctor..."
"With Pleasure..." smirked Dr Arden as he held up his syringes ready to fight.
Sorry Guys, I was planning to write the full battle here, but then I decided to prologue it a bit with our heroes exploring the lab.
I wonder how the battle with the evil Doctor will go, along with the Venomous Five! Stayed tuned for more action in the next chapter!
Note: The part where the Komodo dragon jumps out at Michelangelo was taken from the film Jurassic Park 3.
