Hello there!
Here we have it, the big fight, the time for Katherine to get what she deserves.

March 24th
Rayna POV
It has been almost two weeks since Jenna stabbed herself, and things have been stressed out to say the least. Stefan and Elena broke up for real, since staying together any longer would have aggravated Katherine, with disastrous effects on the town, and Elena has been moping around ever since. According to Damon, so was Stefan. He was getting better at controlling his bloodlust, but other than that, whenever I saw him at school, he was more brooding than ever, and whenever Elena would show up, he would disappear faster than Road Runner. Gosh, this whole thing was getting on my nerves, for real. I have spent the better part of these days practicing with Bonnie, perfecting our abilities, waiting for the perfect opportunity to snatch Katherine and make her pay for all that she has done to us.
Apart from that, tonight was the big masquerade ball the Lockwoods always threw, but none of us had much appetite for it. Elena couldn't go because of Stefan, Stefan couldn't go because of Elena, Bonnie and I had too many things to do to go to a fancy ball, Damon wouldn't go without me and Alaric had to take care of Jenna, who was getting out of the hospital today. The only ones who thought about going was my dad and Pearl, and that to keep the council relaxed. Jeez, how much more drama could we take?
"I think I finally got that," Bonnie declared as we sat sprawled on the floor of her bedroom, grimoires open all around us. "To stop a vampire from leaving a room, all you have to do is go to the room, focus on it and create a magical barrier around it, kinda like the seal my ancestor had created for the tomb, only a lot less powerful."
"Exactly. This sort of spell will diminish in a few days, but that doesn't matter. We'll be long done with her before the spell fades," I glanced at her.
"The only problem is though, where do we trap her, and how? It's not like we can send her an invitation 'Hi Katherine, care to check out a random room?' It will take a lot more than that to trick her."
"You got that right," I nodded, reading on a spell for linking two people together. It was pretty amazing, what these Bennett witches had created over the years. You could actually link one person to another, and whatever happened to the one, would happen to the other.
My phone rang, getting us out of our concentration. It was Damon.
"Hey lover, kinda busy with witchy stuff right now," I greeted him.
"The Witchy practice 101 will have to wait. Come by the Boarding house, and bring Bonnie with you. There is something you both need to hear," he said in a serious tone.
"Okay, on our way," I agreed before hanging up.
"What's wrong?" Bonnie asked, looking confused.
"Damon wants us at the Boarding house. He says there is something we both need to hear. Sounded important." "Then let's go," she shrugged, getting up.
Damon and Stefan were not the only ones that waited for us at the Boarding house. Caroline was there, looking more shaken than ever, along with Anna, Pearl and my father.
"What's going on?" I asked, looking around.
"Tell them," Damon said to Caroline, who looked like she had seen a ghost.
"Care, what happened?" I asked, sitting next to her, trying to ease her somehow.
"I saw her today," she said, her voice shaking.
"Katherine," I hissed, anger boiling in me.
"Where?" Bonnie asked.
"At the Grill. I went there to gawk and quasi stalk Matt."
"Spare us the teen drama Barbie, to the point," Damon cut her off.
"Anyway, then I had to pretend that I had to use the bathroom, and that's where I saw her. At first, she pretended to be Elena, but since I knew Elena was going to be with Jenna at home, she saw I figured her out and pinned me on the wall. She ordered me to give you a message."
"And what is that message?" Stefan asked.
"She said she wanted the moonstone, otherwise she will rip this town apart until it rains blood. Tonight, at the masquerade ball."
"She wants to do it in public. Thinking that Mason is dead threw her off," Stefan observed.
"She's running scared. The trick she did with Jenna was absolutely desperate, it means she's running out of tricks," Damon added.
"We can't underestimate her though, we have to play this smarter than her," Pearl offered.
"Can't we just give her the moonstone so she can leave?" Caroline groaned.
"No Caroline. This woman killed you, she turned this place upside down and scared my grandmother to death. I'm not letting her take what she wants. Not while I'm still breathing," Bonnie shook her head.
"Bonnie's right. She has been tormenting us for quite a long time now, and we are just going to give her what she wants? No way," I agreed with my witchy friend.
"The girls are right, she's not getting dick. I'm gonna go to the masquerade tonight and I'm gonna kill her," Damon declared.
"You're not gonna kill her," Stefan argued.
"Oh don't give me that goody goody stuff," Damon scoffed.
"You are not gonna kill her," Stefan repeated firmly.
"Oh yeah? And why is that?" Damon taunted him, getting in his personal space.
"Because I'm gonna kill her," Stefan replied, and a devilish smile slowly formed on Damon's face. Finally, the two brothers had agreed about something.
We started planning the entire thing, to make sure we weren't going to miss anything. The plan needed to be perfect. Jeremy arrived about half and hour later, with a mind to help. Despite Anna's protests, we got him registered in the whole 'Kill the vampire bitch' plan, but only as backup. There was no way humans were going to get involved into all this. Bonnie would enchant the room we would trap the bitch in, I would stay close by in case she decided to escape, and Damon with Stefan were going to be trapped in the same room, stake her bitchy ass to hell.
Jeremy and Caroline were just going in as extra backup, trying their best to lure Katherine in the room at any cost. I was a bit worried with Damon in the same room with Katherine, but he assured me that he was going to be fine. Alaric came as well, and he brought a whole bag with vampire hunting and killing stuff, most of which he had made himself. It was amazing what the human mind could create when prompted in a certain way.
"For you boys I recommend this," he said as he showed them a mechanism that attached itself to the hunter's arm, and was unseen if you hid it underneath your sleeve. It armed your arm with a stake instantly. Easily conceivable, and very quick during a fight. "This is also a good choice," he pulled what looked like a weird shotgun thing from the bag. "It works with compressed air, throws stakes at your target with speed and precision. Of course, with a 500 year old vampire, this sort of speed is not that good, so the element of surprise will be very useful to you."
"Did you make all this?" I asked, eyeing all that gear he had. He really took his job seriously.
"Yeah," he shrugged. Both Stefan and Damon looked at him, Damon looking impressed even. "What? You told me you wanted to kill a vampire," Alaric shrugged, and I chuckled, patting his back.
"I think it safe to say you have impressed them Alaric, and I'm guessing it takes quite something to impress them. Good work," I complimented him as we continued formulating and discussing the last details.
"I am to stay with Elena and Jenna at the house, keep them out of the danger zone, right?" Alaric looked at us.
"Yes, someone has to be there, and since baby Gilbert said he wants in, so the babysitting duty falls on you," Damon quipped, and I slapped his arm. Jeremy glared at him, but Anna smiled at her boyfriend, claiming his attention again.
"So, let's recap. Jeremy what are you going to do?"
"When I get the chance, I walk up to her and tell her that Stefan and Damon sent me, telling her to find them near the lake."
"Good. Caroline, what's your part?"
"I simply wait for her to find me, since there's no way she's going to bite the whole lake thing and when she does, I tell her that Stefan and Damon have set a trap for her, and that Bonnie has the moonstone upstairs in the room. I lead her there, and they kill her."
"Very good. Be sure not to step in the room too though, okay?" I looked at her. "you won't be able to leave until the spell is lifted."
"Yeah," she nodded, and I could see she was scared to death. I didn't blame her. She was only a baby compared to Katherine's powers. Katherine could kill her in a second if she wished, so we had to play this one smarter than her.
"Do we have to do this at the ball? We are putting a lot of people in unnecessary risk," Bonnie argued once again.
"Bonnie, she requested the place, exactly for that reason. She wants a lot of people around to make sure that you or I don't light her ass on fire, and that nobody is going to try anything on her. She feels safe, and that's what we want her to feel. This is our one chance to get her, we can't let it go now, not when we have a solid plan of action," I recounted.
"Look, I want to get her too, but this is way too dangerous. How do we know she will fall for it?" Bonnie still resisted.
"Bonnie, we might not have another chance. What Katherine did to Jenna crossed the line in my book. I will not wait another day and suffer away from Elena. She has to be stopped before she does anything worse," Stefan tried to persuade her.
"I don't know Stefan," Bonnie looked at him, still uncertain.
"Look, Katherine knows me, she knows I will not do anything in a public place, so that gives me an edge. We will catch her by surprise, and by the time she figures it out, she'll have a stake through her black heart, and Mystic Falls will be safe again," Stefan declared, looking determined to go through with this plan. Bonnie stayed silent, thinking all the risks and possibilities. After a minute of consideration, she nodded, her expression serious.
"Then let's do it."
Night was falling over Mystic Falls, and I adjusted my dress one last time, checking my reflection in the mirror to make sure everything was in place. I had decided to all dark tonight, since the situation was more than serious. This was the big fish, the one we had been waiting for a long time now, I needed to be perfect. My dress was the darkest purple I could find, with one strap holding it on me and the tightest I had ever worn. It was very simple, the only thing that made it formal was the sparkly rhinestones that were embedded all along the cleavage and the strap that held it on my shoulder. It was not that short or provocative, since I had little to no interest to draw attention to me tonight. I straightened my hair all the way, letting them free and did my makeup in dark silver and purple tones, finishing it with a dark red lipstick. I was out for blood tonight, vampire blood. I slipped my feet in my 3-inch black heels, and I felt more powerful than ever as I slipped on my black wool coat.
A knock on the door drew my attention and I turned around, watching as Anna came in.
"Wow, someone's out to hunt tonight," she smirked, looking beautiful in her dark red dress.
"Yes, but I'm not hunting someone I intend to keep alive," I retorted, so not in the mood to joke around.
"Lighten up, we are going to get her, I'm sure."
"Until I watch her dead body being consumed by the flames I will personally light, I do not plan in lightening up Anna. Is dad and Pearl ready?"
"Yeah, they're waiting for us downstairs," she nodded.
"Then let's go," I nodded as I grabbed my black satin mask from my dresser.
Lockwood mansion was decorated in such a beautiful way, I would have been impressed. Now, I barely noticed it. My dad and Pearl nodded politely at Mrs. Lockwood and Tyler as we moved in, but Tyler held me back before I could move away.
"Something wrong Tyler?" I questioned him.
"I just want to talk to you at some point, about this whole thing. When can you meet me?"
"We can try it tomorrow, it's too crowded to talk about such matters tonight. Too many innocent ears around," I replied, not sure I would be calm enough to discuss the whole situation with so many things on my mind tonight.
"Okay. I'll give you a call tomorrow, sound okay?"
"Great," I gave him a small smile, trying to look alright.
I noticed Bonnie entering the mansion, the caramel skin and the tingling of her powers leaving no doubt about her identity. She looked at me and nodded in acknowledgement, walking slowly and discreetly towards the stairs that led to the upper floor. Of course, the entire house was open tonight, but not many had chosen to venture upstairs just yet. Just in case, I concentrated hard and scanned the entire house for all supernatural creatures. My powers flowed freely like an invisible grid around me, catching the slightest tingle of supernatural presence around. I could now tell how many supernatural creatures were in the entire mansion, and those were Bonnie heading upstairs, two vampires that were in the other room, one glance telling me that it was Anna and Pearl. Caroline was just entering, and two other faint pulls out in the garden. I moved to the window and noticed two men dressed in similar black suits talking to each other before one of them moved away, leaving the other alone. The Salvatores had dressed like Men in Black tonight. Damon made his way in the house, glancing around until he found me.
"I thought I wasn't right when I saw you in that dress and that mask. You look nothing short of magnificent tonight," he whispered as he stood next to me.
"Thank you, you don't look so bad yourself," I replied, feeling a small smile on my lips, the first real one I had since this morning.
I looked around the room, taking in the decorations for the first time, actually noticing them. Red and light beige ribbons were hung everywhere, giving the place an eerie feeling, making everyone feel like they were not in reality, but in sort of a dream world. I caught Bonnie's gaze as she came down the stairs and she nodded, indicating that the spell was in place upstairs, where the final bloody act would take place. She really looked very nice tonight, that dress really showed off her beautiful physique. Jeremy appeared beside her in his black suit, his simple black mask barely covering his face. I nodded back and Damon leaned in closer to whisper to me.
"Show's bout to start. Keep away from Stefan," he pointed to the couple that danced in the middle of the dancefloor out in the garden. I felt furious seeing the bitch so close to me, within reach and yet out of my grasp, so I nodded and just walked around, trying to control my anger and my magic. Things were going well, she was here, now all we had to do was lure her in the trap. I simply walked around, looking at the lovely red roses that were in a vase near the entrance, trying to calm down.
"Careful, they can prick you real bad if you don't know how to touch them," a voice said from behind me.
"Not a good time to torment me Ethan," I growled as I tried to move away, but his hand shot out, grabbing me hard, pulling me in an empty room.
"What on earth are you doing Ethan? Haven't I made myself clear on this? You and I are over, I'm with Damon, get over it and leave me alone."
"Well, I'm just a sucker for hard to get ladies, and you, my dear are hard to get which makes the hunt all the more interesting," he pinned me on the wall, holding both my arms with his, not letting me move. I could smell the alcohol in his breath.
"Ethan, you're drunk, this is not you, let me go," I tried to reason with him, but he didn't even listen.
"You know, you are such a tease. Coming in here with that tight dress of yours, dressed to kill and you won't even let me have some fun? I think not," he smirked darkly as he held both my arms in one hand while he pressed his lips against mine forcibly, his other hand reaching down under the skirt of my dress. I tried to squirm away, but he was too strong for me.
"Baby, you and I are going to have so much fun right now," he whispered huskily, and I felt that as the last drop. I butt-headed him, hearing the sickening crunch of his nose breaking, and felt almost satisfied when I saw him falling on his ass, his face covered in blood.
"Clearly, you didn't get my point the first time, so let me repeat it," I said as I stepped towards him, using my foot to keep him down, the heel of my shoe digging itself in his crotch.
"Stay away from me from now on, or the next time you try to put your hands on me will be the last time you have hands. Get it?" I pushed the heel even further, making him wince. His face was all bloody, but his eyes showed fear more than anger. He was actually afraid of me.
"I have no idea nor care how you are going to get it through your thick scull, but we are over. I belong to someone else now. Find someone else to bother yourself with Ethan, or our next meeting will not be pleasant for you at all," I hissed as I opened the door and left, not even bothering to look back.
"Where the hell have you been?" Anna hissed as she pulled me by the arm, making me wince.
"What is it with people bruising me tonight?" I groaned as I pulled my arm away, trying to soothe the pain that was starting to form.
"Who grabbed you?" Anna asked, whatever she wanted to tell me forgotten momentarily.
"An unfortunate encounter with Ethan, though I think this time we settled it. Now, what is it that has you so nervous?"
"She is here, I saw her from afar. I'm not sure if she knows we are here, but Katherine has arrived, and she is currently with Stefan, dancing outside to be precise."
"I know, Damon and I saw them a few minutes ago, before Ethan grabbed me," I nodded. "Where is your mother?"
"With Albert, making sure he is okay and trying to keep Mrs. Lockwood occupied. We've had a loss though," Anna hesitated, and I felt the claws of fear around my heart again.
"Who?" I whispered, staring at my friend's green eyes.
"A girl that had the bad idea of interrupting the little conversation between Stefan and Katherine. Two blows to the spine and she lay limp on Stefan's arms."
"She killed her right in front of everyone?" I gasped, not believing it.
"Rayna, to the unsuspected eye, those hits were like a girl helping another girl tighten her dress. Instead, the force was enough to snap the girl's spine, first rendering her paralyzed from the waist down and then dead," Anna said gravely.
"And nobody noticed?"
"No. With Stefan holding the body close to him, he was able to pass it off as two lovers that just wanted a little privacy, and with the masks, nobody would know who they were. He stowed the body away for now, but we have to act fast. He's already blaming himself for it."
"He is not the one that did it, but she will get hers tonight, I swear on the bones of my ancestors." The weight of what she had just said came crushing down on me, but I didn't let the fear creep in. I had to be strong tonight, or everything would go to hell. Another innocent life had been lost because of Katherine, and that had to be the last.
"Where are they now?" I demanded, drawing energy from my anger for the 500-year old vampire that enjoyed playing with other people's lives, but still keeping it in check.
"Stefan has gone to find Damon, but I haven't seen Katherine in a while now. Jeremy is with Bonnie, since he completed his supposedly failed act to lure Katherine away, keeping our other witch safe. Now it's Caroline's turn."
"Good," I nodded, just as I felt another magical current from somewhere in the room. I looked around, glancing at each of the guests and noticed a tall caramel-skinned woman standing all by herself, staring intently at me. Her aura had magic in it, which meant she was a witch. Something told me though that this witch was not on our side.
"Go to your mother, get her and dad out of here," I ordered Anna as I made my way to the stranger woman. She didn't seem scared of me, as if she had been waiting for this.
"Good evening," I greeted her, trying to keep myself in check.
"Hi. Terrific party, don't you think?" she replied, her voice steady and confident.
"Indeed, though I think we have a couple of party crashers around, people that made a serious mistake coming here uninvited," I replied.
"I don't see how can you tell which ones are the crashers, since we all wear masks," she shrugged.
"I'm witchy like that," I smirked at her, and she must have realized that I was done playing.
"Shall we take a stroll outside? It will be more comfortable," she gestured to the door that led to the garden and I nodded, following her out. She walked to a secluded part of the garden and turned around, taking her mask off as she turned to face me.
"I don't want to start a dispute with you, but I will stop you from hurting Katherine if you try anything."
"Why are you helping her? Do you have any idea what she has done ever since she came to this town?" I demanded, angry at my fellow witch in front of me.
"She saved me from death a few years back, I am indebted to her, and you of all people know how bonding a debt of a witch is. I have no choice but to help her get that moonstone. Besides, you are no better. You are helping vampires as well."
"They are not like her, they haven't killed one of our kind," I hissed, and she actually looked surprised.
"What are you talking about?" she questioned me, just as a female scream of pain was heard nearby, a scream that was quite familiar.
I turned to look at her, seeing that she was just as surprised, and took off towards the place where the scream had come from. To my horror, I found none other than Elena, who was in fact the girl that had screamed, along with Jeremy and Bonnie.
"What's going on?" Jeremy as asking his sister, looking really freaked out about Elena.
"Elena, what are you doing here? What is going on?" I asked as I reached them, and saw Elena's pink blouse stained with blood, but no visible wounds at all.
"It's Katherine, she's linked to Katherine, go tell them to stop, now!" Bonnie ordered Jeremy and he took off towards the house, leaving us with out friend.
"Bonnie, Rayna, it hurts so much," Elena said, pained, kneeling on the grass, tears escaping from her eyes.
"I can't break the spell, only the witch that cast it can stop it," Bonnie looked at me, panicked.
"Try to take the pain away, I'll be right back," I ordered her, turning around and heading the way I had come. That witch was going to break her spell or I would break her myself.
I found the mysterious witch not far from where we had talked, looking rather wary of me. "Why are you doing this?" I demanded as I strode angrily towards her.
"I have no choice, I am indebted to her," she replied.
"You are going to be the reason an innocent human is bleeding to death right now, and you call yourself a servant of nature?"
"I told you, I have no choice. My family has been in Katherine's service for centuries. I had hoped to escape from that, since she was locked in the tomb, but she found me two years ago, and saved me from another vampire. I owe her my life, I have no choice."
"Who are you anyway?"
"My name is Lucy Bennett, my family descends from a witch that originated from here," she replied, and I lost all the anger I had in me. It had taken me completely by surprise. "I know you have a relative of mine helping you, but she is still too inexperienced."
"Do you also happen to know of her grandmother, Sheila Bennett?" I asked, an idea coming to mind.
"Of course, she's a really powerful of our kind. I was skeptical at first about coming here, thinking I might have to face her, but Katherine told me she passed on, heart attack."
"Did she also happen to mention that it was Katherine the cause of that heart attack?" I quipped, and Lucy gasped, looking totally surprised.
"What?"
"It was the night that the tomb vampires launched an attack against the town, in revenge for what happened in 1864. Katherine showed up in front of Sheila, making her already weak heart fail. Sheila told me and Bonnie so, just before she lost consciousness, never to regain it."
"You swear to it?" she growled, looking more furious by the second.
"Come and ask Bonnie yourself," I offered her.
"Show me where the girl is. I will help you, debt be damned," she nodded, and I hurried to where I had left Bonnie and Elena.
We found them huddled together, Bonnie muttering healing spells to keep Elena okay.
"Step back," Lucy declared, and Bonnie pulled away from Elena to look at the newcomer.
"I'm here to help you," Lucy calmed her when she saw how Bonnie had fixed her with a glare.
"It's okay Bon, she is really here to help, I'm sure of it," I assured my witchy friend, and she reluctantly let Elena go, taking a step back to give the other witch some space. Lucy took Elena's hand and started reciting a spell. I felt the power of the spell weaken, before it dissipated completely. Lucy stood again, turning to us.
"You can heal her now." Both Bonnie and I rushed to Elena, taking a hand each and starting reciting the healing spell. I felt Elena's wounds closing rapidly, and Elena sighed as the pain subsided.
As soon as Elena was safe, Bonnie got up, glaring daggers at Lucy. "Who are you? Why are you helping Katherine?" she demanded of her relative.
"My name is Lucy Bennet, I am your cousin, and I'm no longer under Katherine's orders. Your friend told me what Katherine did to your grandma."
"Why did you help her in the first place?" Bonnie asked after the shock of Lucy's identity passed.
"She had me in her debt, after she saved my life a few years ago. I'm not sure if she orchestrated all that, but the point is that I gave her my word that I would do anything I could to get you to give up the moonstone. You have it, don't you?" she asked me.
"Yes, but I will not give it to Katherine. Whatever reason she has to want it, I will not just hand it over, not after all that she did."
"Then give it to me," Lucy suggested.
"Not a chance in hell," Bonnie replied immediately.
"I'm not going to give it to her just like that Bonnie," Lucy turned to her relative.
"I mean I will, but I have something in mind for our mutual vampire enemy." I looked at this new witch that had just showed up and then at Bonnie, silently asking her if we could trust this woman. Bonnie looked at her fellow Bennett witch and then back at me, nodding her approval. I took the moonstone out of my bag, staring at its smooth surface for a minute before handing it over to the older Bennett.
"I hope you know what you're doing," I cautioned her.
"We witches always have a way to get what we want, don't we?" she smirked at us, then proceeded to explain her plan.
Damon POV
"Damn it, where's that witch?" I asked, irritated. After Jeremy's revelation that everything we did to Katherine would hurt Elena, we were all trapped in this damn room, with no way to get out unless one of the witches, either Rayna, Bonnie or whatever witch Katherine had enlisted for her plans released us from the spell that kept us in.
"We can play charades," Katherine suggested, and I tried really hard to ignore her.
"You bargained the moonstone, didn't you?" Stefan suddenly said, drawing our attention to him.
"What are you mumbling about brother?" I asked, confused about what he was trying to say.
"When you struck the deal with George Lockwood, to help you fake your death, you promised him immunity from his curse with the help of the moonstone, right? So you could lock everyone else in the tomb and walk around without any of the other vampires to bother you," Stefan assessed.
"Good for you Stefan, two plus two. And it would have worked, except that people found out that I wasn't in the tomb," Katherine confirmed my brother's thoughts. "Thanks to you," she turned to glare at me. "Have I mentioned how inconvenient your obsession with me has been?"
"You and me both, but thankfully enough I found the cure to that," I retorted.
"But why do you need it back? Why now?" Stefan continued.
"I love you in a suit, so dashing," Katherine ignored him, trying to be seductive yet again to avoid the questions.
"What were you doing with it in the first place? It was not Emily that spelled it, its magic is way older than that, according to our friends."
"You're wasting your breath Stefan," I shook my head as I look out the window. The party was going on full swing.
"Unless it wasn't yours to begin with," he continued, and I looked at him and then Katherine. She let a tiny flicker of fear pass from her face before her mask of cool confidence slipped back on. "In 1864, you faked your death. Who were you running from Katherine?" Stefan asked her.
"In 1987 you were in Chicago, on a concert of all places, with that wench Lexi," she replied, avoiding the question once again. Stefan did not expect that. it seemed she kept regular tabs on him.
"Oh come on Stefan, don't look so surprised. Of course I checked on you over the years," she purred, smoothing his tie. "You were standing in the front row, dancing all night. You were watching Bon Jovi, and I was watching you. Though I have to admit it would have been more fun if you danced with me instead of that stupid blond."
"You have no right to speak ill of Lexi. She was there for me when nobody else was," Stefan pushed her hand away from his tie.
"Oh come on Stefan, it's not like I killed her. I would have done so, if you had asked me too. I might at some point. She turned you into such a brooding person instead of showing you how fun life as a vampire can be."
"She taught me how to restrain myself and flip the switch back on. Because of you, I had turned my emotions off, and it took almost a decade to turn them back on."
"What's the fun in that? Feeling every stupid emotion there is, when you can spend your days drinking having fun and killing."
"If that is your definition of fun, I thank my luck I didn't follow you wherever you went after the tomb incident," Stefan replied harshly, and I saw Katherine getting irritated with him.
"And you think you have flushed me out? Damon has, at least that's what he says, but you came back to Mystic Falls to hook up with my exact image. What does that say about you Stefan?"
"Elena is nothing like you," Stefan shook his head, turning away from her. He didn't have the chance to see her smirking at his retreating form.
Another half an hour passed in silence, with me thinking about Rayna and what she was doing right now, and where on earth was that witch that Katherine had brought as backup. Bonnie and Rayna must be looking for her right now, to break the spell. I couldn't wait for the spell to be lifted so I could drive a stake through the heart of the woman that played with my life so harshly.
"We're missing the party," Katherine drawled as she looked out the window. Speak of the devil.
"I think your girl has decided to return to her previous guy Damon, I don't think she'll be coming to save you any time soon," she added, and I held myself from hitting her. I didn't want to hurt Elena. I went to the bar that thankfully enough was stocked and poured myself a generous amount of whiskey. It was no bourbon, but it would do, for now. "I'll have one of those," Katherine said as she looked at what I was doing. "Right away Miss Katherine," I replied mockingly as I poured another glass full of the amber liquid. She walked right behind me and I passed her the glass.
"Thank you," she simply said as she downed quite some of it. "So, how are things for the Salvatores since I left you in 1864?"
"Hellish, but you didn't really care, did you?" I retorted, and she smirked at me.
"Oh Damon, what happened to you over the years? Where is the sweet and innocent Damon that fell in love with me and promised me the world?"
"He belongs to someone else now," I quipped.
"Do tell me Damon, what are your plans for this girl? After all, she is a witch, she's not going to last forever. In 50, maybe 60 years she's going to die. What are you going to do then?"
"That is not your concern," I hissed, downing my drink.
"Don't tell me you actually want to turn her," Katherine scoffed. "You know how witches hate being turned into vampires, right? She will hate you if you turn her."
"And what exactly is your concern over my love life? I thought you didn't care about me," I threw back at her.
"I don't. I'm just trying to understand what is it that you see in her. Is it her powers, or her blood? It's not her looks, she's not that beautiful, more of a plain girl really. Or maybe it's her skills in the bedroom department? Tell me Damon, does she give you a good time?" Something snapped in me and the next second I threw her against the wall, one of the stakes in my hand. Stefan stopped me at the last second, but I still struggled against my brother's grasp.
"Damon no, don't," he tried to reason with me.
"Yes Damon, please," Katherine taunted me, her eyes boring deeply into mine with a mocking look. "The second the spell's lifted, I'm going to drive a stake right through your heart," I hissed at her, trying really hard to contain my anger.
"God you're hot," she smirked at me. "When did you get so hot?" I released her and tossed the stake away, trying to release some of my anger.
Footsteps were heard on the staircase and I turned around to see Rayna and a mysterious woman, who I could only assume was the other witch. The new witch pushed Rayna forward, and Rayna glared at her but continued walking forward until they reached the entrance of the room, where the barrier was.
"Katherine," the witch greeted her ally, revealing the moonstone she held in her hand. "The spell in this room has been broken you're free to leave."
"Thank God," Katherine drawled. "A good thing too that you brought a snack, I've been starving," she turned to Rayna, and Stefan held me back from hurting her.
"I thought you might be hungry, and this witch has caused me nothing but trouble tonight. I might be a servant of nature, but one less witch is something I can live with," the witch said, and I looked at Rayna. Why wasn't she using her powers?
"I bound her powers for now, she is as useless as a human for the next few hours," the witch said hen she noticed my staring.
"Really good Lucy. And what about the other part of our arrangement?" Katherine pressed, her eyes on the moonstone.
"When I hand this over, my debt to you is over," the witch stated.
"Done," Katherine replied immediately.
"I owe you nothing," the witch pressed on.
"I said done, give it," Katherine replied, this time her tone leaving no room for any further delays.
"I wouldn't do that," I tried to stop her, and the witch hit Rayna in the head hard, making her collapse on the floor, unconscious.
"Next time you try to order me around, I light you up on fire," the witch glared at me, and Katherine turned to smirk at me.
"It's nice to have a stronger witch at my side," she smiled at us, and I wanted so much to kill her right now, but I was more concerned about Rayna. The witch put the moonstone on Katherine's hand and Katherine froze, struggling to breathe. It looked as if she was unable to draw air inside.
"You should have told me another witch was involved," Lucy said to her, as Rayna rose from where she had fallen, smirking at the struggling vampire.
"And a Bennett witch no less, one of my family. The same family that Sheila Bennett belonged. Do you remember Sheila Katherine, the witch you killed not long ago?" Lucy continued as she watched Katherine struggle. She collapsed on the floor, holding her neck as she tried and failed to breathe.
"Wait, Elena!" Stefan suddenly said, alarmed.
"Elena's fine," Rayna assured him.
"The spell is broken, she'll heal quickly, Bonnie's with her," the witch said. As Katherine fell unconscious, the moonstone slipped from her hand.
"I apologize for my involvement," the witch looked at Rayna.
"Don't mention it Lucy, at least we all got what we wanted, including her. She wanted the moonstone, and she got it. Although, I doubt she will wake up in time to take it and leave."
"I think it best if I go see Bonnie before I leave. I have no other reason to stay here," Lucy said, and Rayna nodded at her.
"Keep in touch Lucy," my girl said as the witch walked away. I walked up to my girl and pulled her in my arms, sighing in contentment that I had her here, safe and unharmed.
"You okay?" I pulled back to get a look at her.
"My head hurts a little, but otherwise I'm fine. What about you, did she hurt you or Stefan?"
"No, we're both fine. How did you convince the witch to come to our side?"
"She had no idea that Katherine was responsible for Sheila's death, and after she found out, we came up with a plan to get her out the tough spot she was and get little miss bitchy here. Now, how about we get her body somewhere where we can burn her without anyone seeing the fire?"
"No, she's not going to die," I shook my head.
"Damon, you were adamant on killing her, and now you want to spare her?" Stefan asked.
"No, but death will be a release for her, she has to suffer for all that she has done," I replied to my brother.
"Something tells me that you already have something in mind," Rayna smiled at me.
"Oh yeah, but first, let's get her out of here. Then, you, Bonnie and I will take a nice trip up to Fell's church." Realization lit Rayna's eyes as she heard the last piece of my sentence.
"That is indeed a very nice idea Damon," she nodded.
Rayna POV
We drove to the tomb in Damon's car, just me and him, since Bonnie wanted to stay with Elena and make sure she was going to heal properly. There was no problem with the spell to keep her in, I could do one of my own, and one that would last for quite a few days before I had to repeat it. Damon placed Katherine in the tomb and came out, standing behind me as I concentrated. I created an invisible force the surrounded the entrance of the tomb, making sure not to leave any cracks she could escape through.
"It's done," I sighed as I opened my eyes again, turning to face him.
"Okay then, let's go."
"No, I want to be here when she wakes up. She still has some answers to give, and I think we can catch her by surprise."
"You really think she's going to tell us anything now?" Damon asked, looking doubtful.
"As soon as she realizes that she will have to spend the rest of her eternity in here, drying up and turning into a mummy, slowly and painfully, she will be desperate to get out, so she will give up all she can in order to cut a deal."
"I love your mind," he smiled as he leaned in to kiss me.
It didn't take long for the bitch to wake up. Damon and I were sitting on the floor, making out lazily when he pulled away, the smile leaving his face.
"Here she comes," he pointed to the door, and we got up, waiting for Katherine to try and crawl out of her hole. She walked on unsteady feet up to the entrance, where she hit the invisible wall. She tried to push herself out, find a weak spot on the wall, but to no avail.
"Hello Katherine," Damon drawled as we walked up to her, away from the shield of course.
"Where am I?" she asked, glaring at the both of us.
"Where you should have been all along," Damon replied. "I thought you would have learned your lesson by now, messing with a Bennett witch."
"You should have killed me," she shook her head.
"And miss the chance of seeing you suffer?" I quipped. "No, death would have been too kind. By the way, I'll be holding on to this from now on," I showed her the moonstone, and she glared daggers at me. Damon walked up to the stone door of the tomb and started pushing it, making her panic.
"No, Damon don't you need me, Elena's in danger," She blurted, and Damon stopped.
"From who?" I demanded. She looked at me but she didn't answer.
"A lie. You're always lying," Damon shook his head as he went to push the door again, but she spoke before he could.
"Why do you think I haven't killed her? It's not like I enjoy seeing my living twin making out with the man I love."
"Then why did you let her live?" I asked her.
"Because she's the doppelganger, she needs to be protected."
"Then we'll protect her, while you rot in Hell," Damon answered the time as he continued pushing the door closed.
"No Damon don't, I'll do anything please Damon, you need me!" Katherine screamed as the door was shut closed. "You need me!" I heard her scream once again before a strong force tried to break through the barrier, but failed. I turned to Damon, who looked like he had a big weight taken from his shoulders.
"Are you okay?" I patted his shoulder.
"Yeah, for the first time in a long time now. Let's get out of here," he hugged my waist as we made our way to the exit. Finally, the big bad bitch was out of our lives, in her own private living Hell. I could finally breathe at ease now.
Poor Katherine, locked up in the old and musty tomb, with nothing but silence to keep her company. I would be scared if I was her. But, whatever you send out, you get back times three, and this little vampire has done more than enough to deserve such a punishment.
