Fallon: A Story of the Legacy
Chapter Thirty-Seven
"I'm assuming it's time."
"Conner called the Sons in. They're on their way to the warehouse."
"Same one from yesterday?"
"Same one."
"I guess I'll meet up with them too."
And the phone call was disconnected.
When Dru walked into the Nor-U-Bev Distributing warehouse she heard voices coming from two different places. She found three of the Sons checking out the delivery trucks that were sitting there. The other voices, and the most important ones, were coming from inside another room in the warehouse. Dru stepped into the room to find them going over the plan.
When they heard her footsteps they turned towards her. Dru grinned. "Sorry I'm late," she told them.
"The party's just starting, sweetheart," Tig said.
"How'd you find out about this?" Conner asked her.
"I have my ways, Conner," Dru remarked with a smirk. "So, how are we doing this? Catch me up."
"You're not a part of this," Conner told her.
"You can't do this without me."
"The only way we're doing this is if she's with us," Jax said to Conner.
Conner sighed in frustration while Dru smiled in delight.
Dru pulled on the uniform and loaded a few of the guns she had chosen from the table. After she did this, she walked over to Bobby after he finished suiting up. "Sit this one out, Bobby. I've got it under control."
"Dru, you don't have to," he told her.
"Yes, I do. You've done enough for this club. It's my turn."
Bobby sighed. "Are you sure?"
"Positive," she nodded.
Jax had already told Montez and West to give them an hour then go back to TM. Dru had to admit it was a flawless plan, smart and sneaky too. But with every plan there were always holes in them too. Anything could go wrong.
"You ready?" Jax asked them.
After they answered with a yes, they all went to their vehicles and took their places inside. Before Dru got in hers she heard Tig complaining.
"Why are we pink?"
"Oh, come on, Tiggy," Dru told him. "You love pink. Just think of it as a pink pussy."
Tiggy smirked and then shrugged his shoulders. Dru knew that comment would placate him.
"Dru!"
She heard his voice just as she was about to climb inside. Dru turned around to find Jax standing there. "What?"
"I'm glad you're here. How did you—"
"Liam," she simply answered. "We still keep in touch."
"Is he—"
"And he's still IRA. He's just not as bad as the others."
Jax nodded. "I really am glad you're here. I couldn't do this without you. And as far as the plan goes…"
"I know what I have to do, Jax," she cut him off. "And I'm totally fine with it."
"Okay. You be careful." Jax cupped her face within his gloved hands and leaned down to gently place a kiss on her forehead. "I love you," he whispered.
Dru softly gasped as she closed her eyes to savor the feel of him next to her. "And I love you."
They were sitting there waiting on the call to come in from Conner. Dru was calm. She had to be to complete these types of undertakings. She glanced over to find Tig's knee quivering. She rolled her eyes. Leave it up to Tiggy to be fucking edgy.
"Tig! I can feel the whole van shaking. Will you please tell your knee to be patient?" Dru exclaimed.
"I just want to get this over with. I don't even want to do this. We shouldn't be the ones busting Clay's ass out," Tig told her.
"No, we shouldn't, but it's the only way to get you guys out of guns. For right now, we have to do what Galen says."
"You don't have to do shit, sweetheart. You can leave this all behind. You could've escaped all this once you got away from the Irish."
"Yes, I could have. I had that chance. But I couldn't take it," Dru said. "Even though Charming didn't really feel like home to me, I had to come back because you guys were there. But once I came back, it was like nothing had changed. The relationships were still the same. Charming was still home in a sense. I think I could be gone for twenty years and it wouldn't change how I felt."
"You're risking a lot, Dru. And I understand why you want to do this. I do, I get it. But nobody would think differently of you if you tucked your tail between your legs and ran in the other direction," Tig advised her.
"Oh, you think not?" Dru scoffed. "I know you guys would still love me, and I know you'd continue to support me with whatever direction my life took me. But I know just as well as you do that tucking my tail and running is not an option for me. It hasn't been for a long time. I ran four years ago, Tig, and I didn't end up anywhere special."
Tig nodded and leaned sideways to pat her on the leg. Dru gained strength from that. She thought it was only Jax's opinion of her that mattered. In the end, it mattered what every one of them thought.
Dru escaped from her reverie when they heard the horn coming from Jax and Juice's vehicle.
"That's our cue," Tig said. "You ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be," Dru replied.
They took off as quickly as possible keeping up with the other three vehicles. Dru pulled down the mask as they pulled onto the freeway. In no time it seemed they came across the transport.
"There they are," Tig called out.
"Let's do this, Tiggy," Dru encouraged him.
"I suddenly feel the need for speed."
"Do it!" she shouted.
Tig swerved onto oncoming traffic and hit one of the Suburbans that had been in front of the transport. Dru felt the impact, but as soon as they came to a complete stop she grabbed the AR-15 that had been at her feet. She jumped out and began to inspect the vehicle. She checked the pulses of the officers inside.
"They're still breathing," she told Tig.
"There's Conner," Tig said. "Let's go!"
Tig and Dru got into the back of Conner's vehicle and they took off again to catch up with the transport. They went across the median to cut off the transport. They bounded out of the back of the van and immediately pounced onto the truck. Dru pointed her gun at the windshield of the transport.
"Let him out and no one gets hurt!" Jax yelled. When they didn't react, Jax shot at the windshield and shattered it.
"Open the door! Give me the keys now!" Tig ordered them.
Dru grabbed the keys when the officer held them out. Her and Dru rounded the transport vehicle and met in the back. They unlocked the doors and opened them. As soon as they had it opened and seen Clay, they revealed themselves by pulling down their masks. Dru could see the shock across his face.
"Where the hell are the Irish?" Clay questioned them.
"In Ireland," Jax sarcastically retorted.
They loaded Clay up into the white delivery truck along with the rest of the crew. Conner had left long before them. Dru considered him the lucky bastard since he hadn't been in the thick of it. She climbed into the passenger side as Juice got into the driver's seat.
Before she could get the door shut she felt the scalding heat of a bullet entering her skin.
