It was the next day and Ronnie was cuddled up with Lexi. Neither of them had gotten much sleep and the girl had just drifted off to sleep when Ronnie decided that she needed to get up. She hated seeing her daughter like this, it broke her heart.
She climbed out the room quietly and walked down the stairs.
"How is she coping?" Roxy asked and Ronnie shook her head.
"Not well" Ronnie said.
"What are you going to do?" Roxy asked.
"See if I can get her to the hospital I suppose" Ronnie said.
"Did she have a shower last night?" Roxy asked and Ronnie shook her head.
"No, she ran the bath but she was completely dry so I guess she didn't get in" Ronnie said and Roxy nodded.
"Is she sleeping?" Roxy asked and Ronnie nodded.
"She didn't get a lot of sleep last night" Ronnie said and Roxy nodded.
"I heard" Roxy said.
"Oh sorry about that" Ronnie said.
"It's not your fault" Roxy said sitting down next to Ronnie and giving her a hug. They stayed like that for a minute or so before Ronnie went back up the stairs.
"Lex" Ronnie said quietly sitting down next to the girl. Lexi opened her eyes. Panic arising first.
"Baby, it's just me. I really think that we should go to the hospital" Ronnie said and Lexi's eyes widened.
"Baby, I really think that we should" Ronnie said.
"But I'm scared" Lexi said quietly letting the tears fill up in her eyes.
"Hey, you have been so brave." Ronnie said. "Listen I was not nearly as brave as you are when I was your age"
Lexi shook her head before letting the tears slip.
"I love you so much baby" Ronnie said pulling her daughter onto her knee.
"Come on, get changed and we are going to the hospital" Ronnie said.
"I can't go into that room" She said worriedly.
"Okay, what do you want?" Ronnie asked.
"A jumper and joggers please" Lexi asked and Ronnie nodded before walking into her daughter's room. She grabbed the clothes from the bed and the clothes which Lexi was going to wear. She dropped the old clothes outside her room and gave Lexi the new clothes for her to get changed into.
"I'm down the stairs. Come down when you are ready" Ronnie said and Lexi nodded.
Ronnie went down the stairs and started filling a bag with all the evidence she could find. She grabbed the ipad and put it in her bag. Lexi came walking down the stairs.
She had thrown her hair into a messy ponytail and was wearing what Ronnie had given her. With her hair completely off her head you could see the spots along her hairline. She had never really been spotty so Ronnie knew that most of these were brought on by stress and worry.
"Right, let's go" Ronnie said and Lexi nodded. They started to walk out the room and Roxy put her hand on Lexi's shoulder. Lexi smiled at her aunt and leant into her to receive a hug. Roxy wrapped her arms around her niece. Once Lexi pulled away, they walked to the car.
They got in and Lexi just looked forward and didn't say a word the whole time.
They arrived at the hospital and Lexi went and sat down. Ronnie went to reception and explained what had happened. They called a specialised doctor done. The doctor came to reception and walked over to Lexi and Ronnie.
"Alexis, would you like to come with me" Dr Brown asked kindly. Lexi looked at Ronnie who responded by standing up. Lexi stood up like her mum and they walked with the woman.
They went into a special room.
"So when was the assault?" The doctor asked and Lexi didn't reply.
"It was yesterday afternoon" Ronnie said.
"Has she showered since then?" Dr Brown asked and Ronnie shook her head.
"No she was going to put got all upset and didn't" Ronnie explained "And I have her clothes from yesterday here too"
"Thank you" The doctor said taking it from her.
"We will get DNA from that and I am going to have to do a pelvis examination" The doctor said and Ronnie nodded but Lexi just stared into space.
"Can you get her changed into this gown preferably with her pants off" The doctor said handing the gown to Ronnie who nodded. The doctor walked out the room.
"Lexi, you need to get changed" Ronnie said and Lexi nodded. She took off her top and joggers placing the gown over her head.
"Baby you need to take your pants off" Ronnie said softly.
"No" Lexi said.
"Lex, please" Ronnie said and Lexi sighed. She did as she was told. She sat a carefully on the bed.
"Can you put your legs up here" Dr Brown asked and Lexi froze.
"Lex, do as the doctor says" Ronnie said and Lexi put her legs up but kept her legs together.
"Alexis, I need you to open your legs for me" The doctor said and Lexi shook her head.
"Lex" Ronnie said. Lexi panicked more "Please Lex, the doctor will not hurt you"
"I promise, that I will not do anything which I don't have to" the doctor said and Lexi nodded slightly opening her legs.
"Good girl" Dr Brown said. She did everything that she had too and as quickly as she could.
"Would you like to report?" The doctor asked and Ronnie looked at Lexi.
"Lex, I really think you should" Ronnie said and Lexi nodded.
"I'll go and get the police. We have this office to do the interview in" The doctor said and Ronnie nodded. She left to get the officer. Ronnie went in first and let the officer see the video before they called Lexi in.
"Alexis, was this video the first time he assaulted you?" The officer asked and Lexi shook her head. She explained quietly what happened and answered all the questions. Both Ronnie and Lexi were crying by the end of the interview.
"Come on baby, let's go home" Ronnie said putting her arm around her daughter.
They arrived back on the square and Lexi went straight to her mum's room. She got into the bed and went straight to sleep. She was shattered. Ronnie stayed with her until she was a sleep and then walked down the stairs to see Roxy.
"Rox, will you look after her while I go out to the shops for a bit. I just need some fresh air" Ronnie asked and Roxy nodded.
"I understand" Roxy said smiling letting her sister go. Roxy sat down the stairs for a while but she soon went up the stairs to check on her niece. She could tell that the girl was no longer sleeping so went and put her arms around her.
"You are such a brave girl" Roxy said into Lexi's ear.
"I'm not" She said.
"You are baby, you are" Roxy said kissing the girl on the head.
"Do you want to come down the stairs for a bit" Roxy asked and Lexi nodded. They took the duvet down the stairs and sat on the sofa cuddled up.
"Baby, I am so sorry. I should never have brought him into the house. It's my entire fault" Roxy said.
"It's not, its mine. I didn't tell anyone. If I told you straight after none of it would happen" Lexi said.
"What do you mean?" Roxy asked confused.
"His family were here" Lexi said.
"Aleks" Roxy asked and Lexi flinched at his name but nodded.
"I walked in on them having sex, I was going to tell you but he threatened me" Lexi said.
"Was this when it all started" Roxy asked and Lexi nodded.
"Oh baby" Roxy said.
"I didn't want you to be upset" Lexi said.
"Oh baby, I would rather be upset than you getting hurt" Roxy said.
Lexi just leant into her auntie's chest. Ronnie walked in not long later and was happy to see that Lexi was now down the stairs.
"Oh my baby" Ronnie said sitting down next to Lexi. She cuddled up with her daughter and sister. Amy came in the room. She snuggled up on Lexi's knee.
"I love all of you so much. I can't describe it in words how much I love you three" Ronnie said.
"I love you too" Lexi said cuddling her mum as tightly as she could.
