Aloha! As promised, here's a brand new update for this (as Cazred11 put it) amazing story! :) In this chapter, Valentine's Day has finally come upon the Glee world, and the air is practically steaming with Cupid's presence. However, after having discovered what has happened thanks to Zack in regard to Daniel and Diana, Charlotte has once again seized the reins for sinking her hooks into Daniel solely into her own hands. Fortunately, it won't take long for Charlotte to be put (very painfully, and also twice) into her place. :) Please read, review, and enjoy!
And for the mailbag:
Cookie05: I am glad you enjoyed Daniel's confession to Diana. I had to go over it a few times in my head to get it just right, and your review has made me feel very glad I took the time to perfect it. As for Charlotte, prepare to see how things go down :).
FinchelFan728: Yes, Finn as a mentor is a very good person :). And now, thanks to Finn's advice, this story now contains both your OTP (Finchel) and its new generation reincarnation, Danana! :)
Cazred11: I am happy to hear that! :) Let's hope that this chapter makes this story even better in your point of view :)
Once again, I don't own Glee. And I don't own the song used in this chapter either.
Chapter 38:
A Valentine's Day Brawl
The next day, Daniel and Diana were standing by the lockers, smiling as they thought of how today was Valentine's Day. They had already gotten their supplies from their lockers, and were now just basking by the lockers with happy thoughts about how much fun they would hopefully have today on their first Valentine's Day (not to mention first full day at all) as an official romantic couple.
Diana smiled, and looked admiringly at Daniel, her green eyes agleam with happiness. "To think that we waited this long to finally admit our feelings to each other. I wonder what Charlotte will think when she finds out."
Daniel looked adoringly at Diana. "Man, I am so glad that I won't be single this Valentine's Day," he thought to himself. Nope, today he'd be spending his Valentine's Day with Diana; "my girlfriend" he thought to himself with a brief sense of surprise. Already he couldn't wait to get whatever school work or homework he received today completed so that he and Diana could join the other gleeks at Breadstix that night. Diana, likewise, was thinking similar thoughts.
"There they are," said an all too familiar voice from nearby.
Daniel dropped an F-bomb, and he and Diana turned their heads to their left just in time to see Charlotte come to a stop nearby. Standing alongside her, were two other cheerleaders. The dark haired cheerleader standing to Charlotte's left was instantly recognizable as Silena, whereas the blonde cheerleader standing to Charlotte's right was eventually recognized by Daniel as Ashley Manning, elder sister of Miles' new girlfriend, Brooke.
Daniel rolled his eyes at the sight of them. It seemed that Charlotte had found out about what had happened and had severed her romantic ties with Zack. "Damn it," he thought to himself. "I have a girlfriend now, would you just leave me alone already?"
Diana, however, was more worried about what she saw in the hands of Charlotte's cohorts. Silena was holding onto a coil of golden rope. Ashley, meanwhile, was grasping onto a large role of jet black duct tape. Daniel eventually noticed all this as well, and promptly got into position to put himself between Diana and the cheerios if needed.
Charlotte glared at Daniel, her blue eyes icy and cold. "This is your last chance," she hissed enviously. "Dump that bag of fleas, and become my boyfriend, now."
Daniel barred his teeth and responded, "Never."
"You asked for it then," said Charlotte, and she snapped her fingers. In a flash, Silena and Ashley started walking towards Diana, ropes and duct tape at the ready.
The two cheerleaders came to a stop right in front of Diana, their faces completely devoid of emotion. Seconds later, Silena reached out as if to grab onto Diana's wrists while Ashley started picking at the role of tape in an attempt to tear off a piece.
Before the two cheerleaders could begin to restrain Diana, however, Daniel slapped Silena's hand away and stepped to his right, placing himself between Diana and the cheerleaders protectively as a result.
Daniel glared at Silena and Ashley fiercely, his gray eyes blazing with an unearthly fire, and vehemently hissed, "Over my dead body." The two cheerleaders clenched their fists and glared back at Daniel, only for their glares to crumple under the hard eyed scrutiny that Daniel was giving them.
Charlotte groaned in exasperation, and said curtly, "This is cheerios business Danny boy. You'd best stay out of it. Now get out of the way."
Daniel turned his head to glare at Charlotte, pointed at her two lieutenants among the cheerios, and said, "Excuse me? These two assholes were just now trying to kidnap my girlfriend. I believe that does make it my business!"
Silena and Ashley tensed up angrily at being called assholes. Charlotte glared at them, and they stayed put.
"Daniel," Charlotte hissed. "This really isn't worth your getting all worked up over. Besides, there is no girl in this school more unworthy of being your girlfriend. Now get out of the way."
"Why?" Daniel asked. "So that you can just abduct Diana, drag her off to who knows where, and try to blackmail me into a loveless relationship with you? I don't think so!"
Charlotte glared at Daniel. "I don't care what it takes," Charlotte hissed. "The two of us are going to become boyfriend and girlfriend. End. Of. Story."
"Yeah? Says you and what army?" Daniel asked sarcastically.
Charlotte gestured towards Silena and Ashley. "You were saying?" Charlotte asked flippantly.
Daniel growled, and tensed himself up. "Well I don't care if the entire squad is with you," he growled angrily. "You'd all still have to go through me if you want to even think of doing any harm to Diana." Diana stared at Daniel in surprise and admiration at how willing he was to go to the lengths he was at risk of going in order to protect her. Already, it seemed as if he were about to go full-on Godzilla on the three cheerleaders, no matter what the consequences.
Charlotte rolled her eyes, looked at Silena and Ashley, and said, "You heard him girls. It looks like you'll have to take him out first."
"Sounds like a plan," said Silena, her face taking on a malicious grin.
"With pleasure," said Ashley as she flexed her palms, her own face taking on a look that conveyed, "Bring it on."
"Back off," said a male voice from the right of Daniel and Diana. In a flash, Daniel, Diana, and the three cheerleaders looked towards the direction where the voice had come from, and saw Calvin, Susan, and Hobbes standing a few feet away. Calvin and Susan had angry glares on their faces, whereas Hobbes was tensed up as if ready to pounce, and was snarling furiously.
Charlotte groaned in irritation. "Good grief," she said. "Stay out of this!"
"I said back off," Calvin hissed.
"Or else what Alex Rider?" Charlotte asked. "You'll blow the whistle on us to Mr. Schuester? Oh I'm so terrified!"
"He means it girls!" Susan yelled. "Leave our friends alone!"
"And that applies to you to Daughter of James Bond!"
Upon hearing their leader say this, Silena and Ashley started laughing.
This turned out to be a big mistake, for Calvin roared angrily at them like a lion upon hearing them laughing at his girlfriend. Hobbes howled in fury like a wolf at the same time. This was enough to get the two laughing cheerleaders to shut up.
"Hobbes, stay," Calvin said. Hobbes, growling still, sat down on his haunches and remained where he was, glaring at the cheerleaders.
Calvin glared at the cheerleaders himself, clenched his fists, and then shouted, "You'd better leave my friends alone! Or else I'm going to have to make you!"
"Oh for Heaven's sake," said Charlotte in irritation. "This is cheerios business! Stay out of it!"
"'As if!" Calvin howled back indignantly. "From what I saw, you and your friends, Seyfried and Kunis, were endangering my friends! I believe that does make it my business!"
"Well you can go ahead and make it your business if you want Alex Pettyfer," Silena stated arrogantly with a condescending half grin on her face.
"Yeah," said Ashley as she tossed her hair over her shoulder. "After all, I don't see any reason to fear you, Vanessa Hudgens, and the Nazi Hound!"
At the sound of this, Hobbes angrily barked thrice in rapid succession.
Calvin growled, very obviously angry now.
As Diana and Daniel watched all this unfold, only then did they notice that Ashley and Silena appeared to have sheathed baseball bats strapped to their backs, and that Ashley appeared to be reaching into her handbag for something.
"Oh I will make it my business if I have to," said Calvin. "And I will make you get away from my friends if it comes to that."
"Don't be stupid," said Charlotte. "You're a boy. It's a felony for your sex to beat up girls. If you attacked us, there's no way in Hell that you'd get away with it." As Charlotte said this, Ashley began to tense herself up as if she were about to charge right at Calvin.
Calvin smiled to himself when he noticed this, and how Charlotte appeared to have not noticed it, and then responded, "Actually, depending on who attacks first, I can."
At that moment, Ashley bolted straight towards Calvin with an angry scream. Charlotte, horrified by this, desperately yelled "No!" Unfortunately, it was too late. Ashley had initiated the attack and thus ruined Charlotte's plan to bait Calvin into attacking first.
As Charlotte barreled towards Calvin, she rapidly swung her hand out of her purse, drawing out a wicked looking serrated knife in the process. Calvin's eyes widened at the sight of the knife, and he just managed to dodge when Ashley swung the knife right at his abdomen. For a few seconds, Calvin backed away as he ducked and dodged. Eventually, right as Ashley swung the knife at him again, Calvin raised his left hand in a style that resembled a vertical karate chop, smacking Ashley's right wrist and sending the knife flying out of her hand and crashing into a locker, breaking the blade.
Growling in anger, Ashley swung her fist at Calvin. Calvin blocked the blow, and manipulated the arm so that he sent Ashley spinning around off balance. With Ashley now disoriented, Calvin yelled "No!" and sent her stumbling backward with a forward open palmed strike. "Stop!" he shouted as he followed up with a stomp kick to her chest. "Stay down!" he growled as he finished with a right leg sweep that swiped her legs out from under and sent her falling down hard on her back, knocking the wind out of her.
Calvin just had time to look up towards where Silena and Charlotte were just in time to see Silena barreling towards him with her baseball bat, a wooden one, drawn out and at the ready. Thinking quickly, Calvin grabbed the tip of Ashley's baseball bat, a steel one, and drew it out just in time to block the swift downward blow that Silena attempted which would have otherwise banged him painfully on the top of his head.
Screaming in fury, Silena swung her bat at Calvin four more times, each time resulting in Calvin blocking them quickly with his own bat. After the fourth time in a row he blocked a blow from Silena, Silena gaped at Calvin in shock as she realized just how accurate the stories about his martial arts skills truly were.
Calvin smiled, spun the steel baseball bat in his right hand around in circles like a professional martial arts master was often seen doing, and said, "Trust me; you're dealing with a professional. Honestly, you're so obviously an amateur that it's insulting."
Silena glared indignantly at the insult and, despite Charlotte's desperately gesturing for her not to take a swing at Calvin, screamed in fury before swinging her baseball bat at Calvin once again. Of course, Calvin blocked the blow, and for the next three minutes, Silena made multiple attempts to smack Calvin with her baseball bat, all of them ending with Calvin blocking them almost contemptuously easily with his own baseball bat as he moved it swiftly and artfully like the skillful martial artist he was.
Eventually, Silena attempted a downward slam, which Calvin parried with a standard quarterstaff parry in which he held one end of his baseball bat in each of his hands. As a result of this, Silena's wooden baseball bat landed down on Calvin's steel bat with such a tremendous impact that Silena's bat snapped in half. Silena, stunned by the sudden snapping sound, gaped incredulously at her now broken baseball bat. Calvin smiled sardonically at her.
Angered by the sight of Calvin smiling at her expense, Silena tossed away her bat and attempted a roundhouse kick to his face. Calvin, however, was expecting this, and he lifted his baseball bat up so that it connected with her outstretched leg and sent her flying backward in a backflip. Silena just barely managed to get the palms of her hands on the floor and turn the fall into a somersault. As a result, she landed right on her feet with her hands and arms spread out to her sides. Upon sight of this, all the students gathered around the scene apart from Ashley gaped in awe. Even Calvin nodded his head in awed respect at the sight of the astonishing gymnastics maneuver before tossing his own baseball bat to the side.
Seconds later, Silena clenched her right fist and swung it at Calvin. Calvin blocked it by raising both of his fists together in front of his face. Silena attempted a roundhouse kick to Calvin's privates, but Calvin defensively smacked her foot away before it made contact. While Silena was still off balance from this, Calvin yelled "Stop!" and gave her a forward open palm strike to the chest. "No!" he shouted as he grabbed onto Silena's shoulders while she was off balance and kneed her in the chest. "Stay back!" he yelled as he gave her enough knee strike to the chest. "Go away!" he howled as he kneed her in the chest a third time.
"Enough!" Calvin then roared as he grabbed Silena by the hair, swung her around and then let go so that she went sliding away from him and eventually landed flat on her face a foot or two away from Ashley, who was still lying down on her back in pain a few inches between Silena and Calvin.
Charlotte gaped at the sight of her two lieutenants among the cheerios on the floor after having fallen to the power of Calvin's martial arts skills. Calvin grinned at Charlotte as if to say, "They asked for it."
At the sight of the wolfish grin that Calvin was making towards her and her prone fellow cheerios, something inside Charlotte snapped, and with an angry screech, she barreled straight towards Calvin as if she'd been fired from a cannon. Still shrieking in fury, Charlotte swung her right fist at Calvin's face. Calvin just barely had time to block the attack.
For the next eight minutes, Charlotte and Calvin furiously battled, Charlotte furiously swinging her fists and feet at Calvin at every opportunity, and Calvin blocking, parrying, and diverting her attacks as best as he could. Eventually, right as Charlotte was drawing her fist back to make yet another attempt to punch Calvin, Calvin made his move. "No," he shouted as he struck her in the chest with his right hand in an open palm strike. "Stop," he growled as he struck her in the chest a second time with his fist in a left hook. "Stay back!" Calvin roared as he finished her off with a stomp kick to her chest, sending her flying backward and landing on her backside. As Charlotte sat there on her backside, watching Calvin in shock, Calvin remained where he was with his palms up in a defensive stance and his face calm and emotionless.
Glaring angrily at Calvin, Charlotte smacked her hands on the floor, got up, pointed accusingly at Calvin, and hissed, "This isn't over. Coach Sylvester will hear about this!"
Charlotte then looked past Calvin at Silena and Ashley, who were just now groaning as they too started to make the effort to get up from the floor. "Girls," said Charlotte. "Come with me now!"
Silena and Ashley, all too eager to get away from Calvin after experiencing the hard way how skilled he truly was at Kung Fu and Ninjitsu, hurriedly got up from the floor and ran over to follow Charlotte as their leader started running down the hall towards Coach Sue Sylvester's office herself. While Charlotte and Silena made no hesitation to get as far away from the area as possible, Ashley briefly hesitated and turned around as she wondered whether or not she should go back to pick up the rope, duct tape, baseball bats, and broken knife. Calvin saw this, and unleashed an angry roar that sounded very realistically like that of a tyrannosaurus-rex. Ashley screamed in terror, and fled from Calvin, sobbing in terror as she hurried to catch up with her two friends among the cheerios.
Calvin smirked as he saw the three cheer leaders finally get out of his sight. "Serves them right," he thought to himself. He then turned around to face Susan, Hobbes, and the friends he'd just finished defending; a happy smile on his face. "How long did that take me?" Calvin asked Susan.
Susan gave a smile of admiration, and replied, "That took thirteen minutes."
Calvin whistled in awe. "Wow," he said out loud. "That long?" Susan nodded her head in the affirmative.
Calvin whistled again, shook his head side to side, and then said, "I guess it was about time I had a real challenge for once."
Hobbes barked once as if in agreement with his master, and then started panting happily as if in admiration of his master's skill. Calvin smiled, walked over to his friends, and stretched his hands upward towards the ceiling. He came to a stop next to Susan, wrapped his arm around her shoulders, and then turned his head to face Daniel and Diana. "You guys alright?"
Daniel and Diana nodded in the affirmative. "We are now," Daniel responded. "Thanks for helping us."
"I agree," said Diana. "I don't even want to know what would have ended up happening if you hadn't showed up."
Susan smiled, and then said, "Well good thing Calvin and I saw what was happening and put a stop to it before you had to find out."
Calvin chuckled, and then said, "You've got that right Susan. Come on guys, let's get going. I think it's about time we got to class."
The four friends all mumbled in agreement that it was about time for them to head off to their first class of the day, particularly since it would begin in about ten minutes or so. They all put their arms on each other's shoulders, and started walking down the hall in the direction opposite from the one that Charlotte, Silena, and Ashley had taken. Hobbes followed close by Calvin's side, happily barking and wagging his tail. As the four friends and the dog headed off to their first class of that day, Diana smiled in absolute glee. "Perhaps today won't be so bad after all," she thought to herself. After all, not only were she and Daniel now a couple, but now Calvin and Susan had managed to prevent Charlotte and her two cheerio lackeys from ruining the experience for them before they could even begin. Yep, things were definitely going to be wonderful this day.
. . . . .
"Let me hear this again," said Sue Sylvester as she stared intently at the three high ranking cheerios sitting in front of her desk in her office. "You're saying that you were wishing Daniel and Diana, who have just now become a romantic couple, a happy Valentine's Day when Calvin just came out of nowhere and brutally assaulted you?"
"Yes," Charlotte hissed in irritation. "Seriously, Silena, Ashley, and I are lucky to be alive."
Sue's eyes narrowed, for she had a feeling that Charlotte hadn't been entirely honest with her. Charlotte's face betrayed nothing other than what appeared to be anger and firm determination as if to say, "I'm telling the truth, now believe me!" Sue looked at Silena, but the dark haired cheerio second-in-command looked as if she were unsure of what side she was really on in this situation. She appeared to be looking unobtrusively out the corner of her eyes at Charlotte, then Ashley, then Sue, then back at Charlotte again, and so on. Ashley, meanwhile, appeared as if she were feeling guilty and ashamed, but too afraid to speak up.
Upon seeing this far stronger weak link among the two she'd just seen in Charlotte's facade, Sue asked Ashley, "Are you three telling the truth Ashley?"
"Yes we are!" Charlotte yelled indignantly.
"I was asking Ashley, not you!" Sue yelled back.
Ashley gulped, hung her head, and then whispered nervously, "No coach; what Charlotte just told you wasn't entirely what actually happened."
"Ashley!" Charlotte shouted as she turned to face Ashley with an incredulous look on her face. "You weren't supposed to tell her about what actually happened!"
"But we are bound as cheerios to tell Coach Sylvester the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!" Ashley yelled back.
Charlotte opened her mouth in shock, but no words could come out of her mouth. Silena gulped, and sheepishly looked at the bottom of her cheerios' skirt. "Ashley does have a point," she thought to herself.
Sue pointed at Ashley and asked, "Perhaps you could tell me what really happened?"
Ashley nodded, and then stated, "Yes. Earlier today, Charlotte, Silena, and I cornered Daniel and Diana by the lockers. Charlotte was angry at having figured out how Zack had dated her for the sake of distracting her long enough for Daniel and Diana to become an item, and was now planning on trying to make Daniel become her boyfriend by force. So Charlotte had me and Silena attempt to kidnap Diana so that Charlotte could blackmail Daniel into breaking up with Diana and dating her instead. However, Daniel stepped between us and Diana right as we were about to start restraining her, and then Calvin, Susan, and Hobbes arrived in time to see what was going on.
"They were not happy to see us threatening their friends, and Calvin threatened to make us go away if we didn't stop. Charlotte tried to bait Calvin into attacking us, but I got angry and I charged at Calvin with a knife I brought here. Calvin, needless to say, proved more than a match for me with his martial arts skills and also more than a match against Silena and Charlotte as well. After he had finished fighting off all three of us, we ran over here to tell you directly after our first two classes today, but Charlotte originally wanted us all to agree on a cover up story so that Calvin would get punished instead of us."
"Hmm," said Sue, and she nodded her head up and down. She then looked at Charlotte and said, "Well Charlotte, I dare say that I am very disappointed in you right now. What do you have to say for yourself?"
Charlotte's jaw dropped, and she gaped at her coach in shock. "What? You're siding with her? But she's only the third highest ranking cheerio in your squad! I'm the head cheerio!"
"That still doesn't change the fact that you lied to me about what happened earlier between you three and Calvin," Sue responded. "And for that matter, you, Silena, and Ashley both committed, and attempted to commit, several felonies. The three of you attempted to kidnap a student here for purposes of blackmailing another student into doing things against his will. Also, Ashley committed a proven felony by bringing a knife into school, and both she and Silena could very well have committed murder if Calvin hadn't been skilled enough in his martial arts abilities to prevent himself from getting stabbed to death by Ashley or bludgeoned to death by Silena. Needless to say, you three would have been at risk of going to juvie from your attempts to forcibly break up Robin and Starfire before the timely intervention from Beast Boy and Raven, and nearly ended up at risk of going to juvie again in the midst of the resulting attempts you made to attack Beast Boy after he stood up for his friends!"
"Well he attacked us!" Charlotte yelled in exasperation. "That's a felony too! He deserves a court hearing and a term in juvie for that!"
"That would be true if he had attacked you first," Sue responded calmly. "However, as Ashley has made clear, the only reason he attacked was because you, Silena, and Ashley attacked him first, not to mention how he would likely have gotten killed if he hadn't fought back against Silena and Ashley in particular. Therefore, he was attacking you for purposes of self-defense, and he's therefore not at fault for what he did. There's nothing I can do, for you three have only yourselves to blame. You, Charlotte, especially only have yourself to blame since you put Silena and Ashley up to what you were having them do in your harebrained attempt at impaling your moldy hooks into Daniel."
"And what would have been wrong with that?" Charlotte asked indignantly as she stood up from the chair she'd been sitting on angrily. "Why is it that everyone in this school these days is so on board with Daniel and Diana being together instead of him dating me like it should be!?"
"Well maybe it's because you've shown a sufficient amount of your true colors so that they can see how much of a monster you are and find that they can really identify more with Diana," Sue responded. Charlotte gaped in shock at her coach. First her idol Quinn Fabray had sided against her, and now her own coach was no longer on her side.
"And now that I think about it," said Sue. "Considering how you've now both lied to me and run the risk of defacing the cheerios' reputation, I am seriously wondering whether or not you deserve to be head cheerio, or even a cheerio, anymore."
Charlotte gaped in shock and horror at her coach upon hearing this. For a minute she wondered if Coach Sylvester was just bluffing. Unfortunately, Charlotte then thought to herself and realized that her coach's voice tone and facial expression conveyed that what she'd threatened was anything but a bluff.
Gasping in betrayal, Charlotte glanced at Silena and Ashley, desperately searching for any sign of support from her fellow cheerios. Unfortunately, she couldn't find any sign of support from her two friends. Silena had a malicious grin on her face, her dark eyes agleam with mischievous glee as she appeared to think of how much more likely it would be for her to be the captain of the cheerios herself if Charlotte were out of the way. Ashley, meanwhile, appeared to be looking at Sue with admiration showing on her face, her blue eyes dazzling with happiness, and was even giving the coach a thumbs-up as if to show approval of the idea of Charlotte being demoted from the top of the pyramid at the very least, or being ousted from the cheerios at the most.
Charlotte gaped in shock at what she was seeing. "They can't do this," she thought to herself. "They can't!"
Still stunned by the full implication of what she'd just seen and heard, Charlotte could only watch as Ashley and Silena looked each other in the eyes with devious smirks on their faces as they thought of what it would be like if either of them were head cheerio instead of Charlotte. Charlotte also had a feeling that they were thinking of how their boyfriends, Becket Nelson from the hockey team (in the case of Silena), and Donovan Gunderson from the baseball team (in the case of Ashley) would feel if they were dating the head cheerio rather than the second and third-in-command respectively.
Devastated, Charlotte reluctantly sat down, her face conveying her horror and despair at how her high school career was now on such perilous footing.
Sue shook her head from side to side at Charlotte in disapproval, before then saying, "You now have until the glee club performs at Regionals to prove your worth as head cheerio to me once more; or you're off the cheerios. You understand me?"
Charlotte nodded her head in the affirmative, completely drained of rebellion. Ashley and Silena shrugged as if they didn't care whatsoever that they still hadn't yet been given a guaranteed chance at taking Charlotte's place as head cheerio.
"Good," Susan said curtly to Charlotte. "Now get the Hell out of my office." The three cheerios promptly began to rise from their seats. "Not you two," Sue said as she pointed at Silena and Ashley. The three cheerios froze and stared attentively at their coach. "I still have a few matters of business I'd like to discuss with you two," Sue stated as she pointed at Silena and Ashley. "But as for you Charlotte," Sue continued "you're free to go. Now again Charlotte, get the Hell out of my office."
Charlotte tensed up as if she were about to blow up at her coach over the unfairness of the whole situation, but with massive effort, she instead stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind her as she left. She did not need to hear whatever Coach Sylvester had to discuss with her two former friends now turned potential rivals for the crown of head cheerio.
As she made her way down the hall away from her coach's office, Charlotte sniffled at the unfairness of the whole situation. First she'd lost her long coveted love interest to her rival, the Quinn Fabray lookalike with a Rachel Berry type personality who was at the bottom of the social ladder. Now she was at risk of being dethroned from the position of head cheerio and losing it to the two fellow high ranking cheerios that she'd previously considered her best friends, not to mention possibly getting banished from the cheerios entirely.
Dejected, she walked down the hallway towards nowhere in particular, unsure of what she could do now. How could she get her hooks into Daniel now without getting herself booted out of the cheerios? The task now seemed nearly impossible.
As she had these thoughts, she saw none other than Daniel and Diana conversing nearby some lockers alongside Calvin, Susan, and Hobbes. All of them seemed to be on top of the world as they discussed whatever it was they were talking about. Feeling even more depressed by the sight of this, Charlotte turned around, only to find yet two more glee club couples standing nearby. Dunlap and Naomi were standing nearby with their backs facing Charlotte as Dunlap got his supplies from his locker and Naomi held onto his hand. Darren and Amber, meanwhile, appeared to be in the midst of a make out session while standing right by the lockers where Dunlap and Naomi were. Charlotte turned around to face yet another direction, just in time to see Cody and Raj both slip a Valentine's Day card through an opened pocket in Bailey's backpack, tap her on the shoulders, and then bolt into hiding between the individual rows of lockers as Bailey paused in her effort to decide which direction to look in first.
Even as she found herself realizing how she'd stumbled upon a large gathering of lucky in love fellow glee club members, she soon noticed how countless Valentine's Day decorations were placed around the area and how numerous other students, and in particular, romantic couples among them were now making appearances in the hallway from left and right. Even Becket and Donovan could now be seen by Charlotte as they stood by the door to Coach Sylvester's office waiting for their girlfriends to exit.
At the sight of the romantic atmosphere around her, Charlotte suddenly found herself feeling angry at how unfair it was for all the other students to be so happy this Valentine's Day while she had to feel so depressed and uncertain about her future in this high school. Angry, she started walking resolutely down the hall away from her fellow glee club members and down towards the end of the hallway, as she did this, with the proper music playing in her mind, she sang:
Days like this I want to drive away
Pack my bags and watch your shadow fade
You chewed me up and spit me out
Like I was poison in your mouth
You took my light, you drained me down
But that was then and this is now
Now look at me
(Scene Break: Football field with Charlotte and fellow cheerios, Silena and Ashley included, in the midst of a cheerios practice)
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
Throw your sticks and your stones,
Throw your bombs and your blows
But you're not gonna break my soul
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
(Scene Break: Cafeteria)
I just wanna throw my phone away
(Scene Break: Charlotte looking through Coach Sylvester's office window at Coach Sylvester talking to Silena and Ashley)
Find out who is really there for me
(Scene Break: Charlotte sitting in a classroom with Silena and Ashley sitting behind her, and Daniel and Diana sitting in front of her and chatting happily)
You ripped me off, your love was cheap
Was always tearing at the seams
I fell deep, you let me down
But that was then and this is now
Now look at me
(Scene Break: Auditorium with Charlotte and the cheerios on stage doing an elaborate cheerios routine with the glee club watching)
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
Throw your sticks and your stones,
Throw your bombs and your blows
But you're not gonna break my soul
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
At that instant, Charlotte looked meaningfully towards the area where Calvin and Daniel were sitting alongside Diana and Susan. Standing right behind the two boys were Brooke Manning and Mary Tyler. Charlotte winked at them quickly, and the two cheerios prepared to do what Charlotte had ordered for them to do at this moment. Even as Charlotte signaled, she continued to sing:
Now look at me I'm sparkling
A firework, a dancing flame
As Charlotte sang these particular lines, Diana and Susan caught the scent of what suspiciously smelled like smoke, looked behind them, and gasped in horror before latching their hands onto their boyfriends' heads and pushing them downward; just in time for Daniel and Calvin to avoid getting their heads and hair roasted by the jets of fire that Brooke and Mary spewed out from their mouths as part of the cheerio routine that their fellow cheer leaders were doing on stage.
Hobbes barked angrily in rapid succession as he watched the jet of fire coming from Brooke's mouth zoom dangerously close to his master's head. Calvin and Daniel felt the intense heat from above their heads, saw the fire from out of the corners of their eyes, and angrily dropped F-bombs in their minds before they both picked up fire extinguishers lying right at their feet, cocked them into firing mode, and then blasted Brooke and Mary in the faces with the foam that they fired from the extinguishers. Brooke and Mary, their fire breath neutralized, were sent staggering backward upon getting sprayed in the faces with the fire extinguisher foam. They eventually fell on their backs, and Daniel and Calvin promptly continued to spray the foam from their fire extinguishers at them.
Even as all this drama was occurring, all the other gleeks, the New Directions alumni, and Mr. Schuester either gaped in shock or screamed in anger at the sight, and the cheerios continued showing off their fire dancing routine on the stage while Charlotte continued to sing:
You won't ever put me out again
I'm glowin', oh, whoa
So you can keep the diamond ring
It don't mean nothing anyway
In fact you can keep everything, yeah, yeah,
Except for me
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
Throw your sticks and your stones,
Throw your bombs and your blows
But you're not gonna break my soul
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
This is the part of me, no
Away from me, no
This is the part of me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me..., no
Throw your sticks and your stones,
Throw your bombs and your blows
But you're not gonna break my soul
This is the part of me
That you're never gonna ever take away from me, no
Upon finishing the song, Charlotte lifted her hands up as if she was basking in the spot light, and Silena and Ashley both unleashed final bursts of fire from their mouths.
However, if she'd been expecting applause, Charlotte was doomed to be disappointed this time. This was because all her fellow members of the New Directions were now shouting angrily and shaking their fists at the cheerios while Hobbes angrily barked again and again. Mr. Schuester and the New Directions alumni appeared likewise disapproving of what had just occurred.
"You dick!" Daniel yelled. "What is wrong with you!?"
"Yeah!" Calvin howled. "Those two bimbos behind us nearly roasted us alive!" The other gleeks promptly shouted out in agreement with what Calvin and Daniel had said.
Charlotte rolled her eyes, tossed her hair over her shoulders arrogantly, and responded, "Oh sure, like I care. What would have been wrong with that?"
"Are you out of your mind?!" Finn promptly shouted incredulously. "You could have killed them!"
"Not like they wouldn't have deserved it," Charlotte stated.
"Excuse me!?" the gleeks shouted all at once.
"I have to agree," said Mr. Schuester. "What you and your fellow cheerios did was very dangerous and reckless. Also, I don't think you quite got the premise of what you were supposed to be doing. The assignment was to sing a love song; what you sang was practically a break up song."
"Well I'm afraid that this song was the one that captured my feelings today perfectly," Charlotte stated venomously.
"You know nothing about feelings!" Diana shouted furiously.
At the sound of this, all the gleeks in the audience gaped at Diana in shock and admiration. Even the cheerios seemed surprised by what they'd just heard Diana say.
Diana glared at Charlotte, who was gaping at her in stunned silence, and said, "If you knew anything about emotion, you would have understood that what exists between me and Daniel is actually real, and that the delusions you dreamed about yourself and Daniel being together were just dreams!"
Even as Diana shouted this, she couldn't help but feel surprised at her own bravery and confidence that she was now showing. "To think that I would have become so daring the very first day after Daniel and I finally got together," she thought to herself.
Charlotte glared angrily at Diana, got down from the stage and stormed up to Diana. When Charlotte was only a few inches away from Diana, she pointed at her slightly shorter rival, and stated viciously, "Don't you dare talk to me like that again you little pig!"
"Or else what!?" Diana asked indignantly. "You'll abduct me and drag me off to who knows where? I've seen rabbits that are scarier then you! Like it or not, Daniel is mine and you will never have him!"
"Oh don't you be stupid, he's just confused. Trust me, by the time this day ends, he'll be crawling up to my door begging for me to date him," Charlotte said arrogantly.
Diana slapped Charlotte in the face with a loud smack, leaving Charlotte briefly stunned by the pain and unexpectedness of the blow. All the other gleeks and cheer leaders gaped in shock at the sight of what had just happened.
Charlotte eventually recovered, glared, and slapped Diana in the face in retaliation. "That ought to put her in her place," she thought to herself arrogantly. From what she remembered of Diana in past encounters, that return slap would definitely have been enough to cow her into submission, and she leaned forward with a condescending grin on her face. But right as Charlotte was about to give a sarcastic wave to Diana, she was sent flying backward after Diana unexpectedly throttled her in the face with a powerful punch.
Charlotte stumbled backwards and eventually landed on her backside. Charlotte got up seconds later, only to find herself on the receiving send of a tackle when Diana threw herself at her hated rival with a scream of rage. Within seconds, the two girls quickly started fighting. Mr. Schuester tried to run over to the two girls to break up the fight, but Daniel and Calvin held their arms out to keep him back. Some of the cheerios tried to intervene as well, but Silena and Ashley held them back. Both sides seemed to be in agreement that what was currently occurring between Diana and Charlotte needed to occur.
For the next few minutes that followed, Diana and Charlotte furiously battled. Charlotte managed to strike a few blows. However, Diana, for the most part, appeared to have the upper hand against Charlotte as she successfully landed punches, kicks, and other blows on Charlotte again and again, to the point that she even was able to grab onto and pull on Charlotte's hair once or twice.
Eventually, Diana struck Charlotte with one particularly powerful punch to the face, sending the head cheerio falling down flat on her back. With Charlotte thus out of commission, Diana rushed over to Charlotte, leaned down over her, and started ramming her fist into Charlotte's face from above. All the gleeks and cheerios watched as Diana brutally beat down on Charlotte's face and Charlotte screamed in pain. Finn and Daniel, in particular, couldn't help but whistle in admiration as they watched Diana beating the snot out of Charlotte. Finn even found himself wincing in sympathy when he thought of how the spectacle unfolding was very similar to how he himself had beaten up Puck in a way very similar to how Diana was beating up Charlotte directly after learning the truth about Puck being the father of Quinn's baby.
After a while, Mr. Schuester finally decided that the fighting between Diana and Charlotte had gone on long enough, and he rushed over to break it up. This time, Calvin and Daniel didn't stop him. Mr. Schuester grabbed Diana by the arm and dragged her away from Charlotte, asking her to calm down. Diana, still angry, broke free from Mr. Schuester's grip, ran right back to Charlotte, and promptly resumed her punching Charlotte in the face.
Upon seeing this, Daniel promptly rushed over and dragged Diana away. "It's ok Diana," he whispered in her ear. "It's fine, you've made your point." Diana looked at Daniel, the mad glare still in her eyes. "Trust me," said Daniel. "You've done enough."
Diana looked at Charlotte, then at Daniel, and then nodded, and took deep breaths to calm herself down. All the other gleeks from both generations promptly gave the couple thumbs-up signs and respectful smiles. Even the cheerios seemed to now be looking at Diana with what appeared to be respect. Charlotte managed to get up into a seated position, her nose bloody and her face conveying a look of pain and sadness. She put her hands up to her nose, grimaced in pain, and managed to say brokenly, "Why are you all on her side?"
All her peers among the current New Directions members apart from Zack turned their heads to face her. "Simple," said Daniel. "You're a monster. End. Of. Story."
Charlotte stared dejectedly at Daniel, and looked at all the other gleeks and the cheerios, desperate for any sign of support from them. However, all the cheerios on stage were snidely grinning at her, the sixteen New Directions alumni were glaring at her with looks that very clearly conveyed their disapproval, and the majority of her peers among the current generation of New Directions members had facial expressions that were cold and pitiless. Hobbes, in particular, had a cruel wolf-like snarl on his face, and was growling angrily at her. Zack and Mr. Schuester were hanging their heads as if they felt too guilty or afraid to admit how they felt about the situation. Finally, she couldn't tell for sure whose side Brooke and Mary would have been on since they were still lying unconscious behind the seats Calvin and Daniel had been sitting in while also still covered up in fire extinguisher foam.
Charlotte's heart sank as she saw that no one in the room appeared to be on her side. "Why does everyone else get to have a happy Valentine's Day today, but I can't?" she asked herself bitterly in her mind.
At that moment, they all heard Principal Figgins' voice shout out, "William! My office now!"
Mr. Schuester turned his head towards the entrance to the auditorium, where he saw Principal Figgins at the doorway. "Is this important?" asked Mr. Schuester. "I'm a little busy right now."
"This is a family matter," replied Figgins.
Mr. Schuester turned his head to face the gleeks and cheerios assembled in front of him, clearly no longer interested in what the principal wanted to talk about. But then Figgins continued, "And by family matter, I mean your family William."
At the sound of this, Mr. Schuester turned his head in surprise. Seeing the serious look on Figgins' face, Mr. Schuester turned his head back to all the gleeks and said, "This session is dismissed, and unless you receive further notice, presume that there will not be another session after school today." He then turned away and left the auditorium. As all the gleeks and cheerios watched, they all couldn't help but look each other in the eyes in confusion as they wondered what could possibly be going on now.
And there you have it everybody! :) I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I especially loved this chapter since it included both Calvin defending Daniel and Diana (and thus returning the favor for how Daniel saved him from getting unfairly framed) and Diana finally giving Charlotte a much needed beat-down. Like I said, I hope you found this chapter worth the wait :). Please review and post votes on my poll!
Coming up next: Turns out, Mr. Schuester's son, Victor, is in trouble. With that in mind, it doesn't take long for Mr. Schuester to discover the family drama that has caused Victor to get himself into trouble at school. Meanwhile, later that day, Charlotte makes one last attempt at spearing her germ-infested hooks into Daniel, only to end up getting foiled circumstantially by Zack, who ends up giving her a much needed tongue-lashing that forcefully blasts her head out of the clouds in regard to her hare-brained attempts at sweeping Daniel off his feet and around her little finger.
