Chapter 38: Fallen Petals

* Third Person POV *

Two young demon children were born well past midnight at the Phantomhive Manor. In a room given to their mother they sleep peacefully as. The room gave off an impression of a haunted house, for no candle light was lit in the room. The windows were still open as they let out to crisp and cool midnight sky. The curtains that draped the windows swayed with the breeze that found its way inside the room. The hardwood floors reflected the moonlight and splatters of blood. The expensive paintings on the wall and the heirlooms on the tables took no attention away from certain the center of the room stood Ciel, Leona, and Sebastian.

Ciel walked over to Leona's bed and sat on the edge, he pulled up his feet so that he could rest his head on his knees. He took a deep breath to clear his mind. Ciel didn't want to do anything at this point, but rest. So did everyone else, it was a long night that has yet ended. From behind, Sebastian helped Leona stand up as she carried her baby Sapphire. He rested his hand on her shoulder and the other by her waist. Leona then layed her head on Sebastian's neck.

" Isn't this nice ? " She said.

Sebastian showed a little change of expression on his face. However he was confused by what she meant. He instead rested his chin on her head and moved his hand and began to rub from her shoulder to her arm. Leona gave a soft chuckle, " This, right now... It seems so calm and peaceful. " Leona closed her eyes and gave a faint smile, a small tear strolled down her cheek.

" I don't understand. Explain to me, why are you crying then ? " Sebastian asked.

" Tears of Joy Sebastian...Tears of Joy. "

Ciel got up from the bed and walked over to Sebastian and Leona, he was carrying baby Leonardo, " I suppose the twins both should be in the arms of the parents. "

Sebastian took Leonardo into his arms, Leona turned around to face him. Seeing Sebastian holding their child tugged at her heart strings. For a sadistic demon his walls seemed to break temporarily break whenever he held one of his own. Leona realized that it was possible to some extent for demons to feel some form of love. Although she is still is afraid it may not be shown to her, she was glad her children will be receiving it.

" Sebastian..."

Sebastian raised his head to look at her. " Do you want to hold your baby girl as well ? " She asked.

Sebastian held Sapphire on his left and Leonardo on his right, effortlessly cradling them. Leona to a step back in awe. She clasped her hands together and pressed them on her chest, " A family. "

Leona then began to play with the seems of her dress, something was on her mind. When she got the courage to speak she spoke with an unusual amount of pride, " Sebastian... "

" Yes ? "

Leona took a small step forward and cupped his face, " You may not understand the point of love, or the reason to give it...," She pulled her face closer to Sebastian, her small nose touched his, " But from this point on... You are going know what it feels like. "

Leona planted a surprise kiss on Sebastian's lips. Sebastian parted lips fora sweet invitation, his tongue grazing over her lips. Leona pulled away from the kiss a pressed her index finger firmly on her lips, " Not in front of the children. " She teased. Sebastian hated the fact that he enjoyed when Leona saw the bright side of a gloomy situation. He licked his lips and lowered his head to look at the sleeping babies.

Leona walked to her closet, she really wanted to change out of the blood soaked dress. She needed something fresh to wear. So she leisurely scanned through what she had hanging in there. She saw her bow and a bag of arrows sitting in the corner of the closet. She pulled out one of her arrows. Carefully she touched the tip and gazed at it with admirable eyes. " I think in a few days from now, I am going to retouch up my skills. Can't be off on my targets again. " She remembered how her accuracy has been off since she didn't get to practice as much as she used to when she was at her old job.

The door slowly creaked open, Ciel and Sebastian eyes quickly darted at the door. Leona turned to the door and gasped. Gwendolyn slowly walked inside carrying purple Rhododendrons, a beautiful flower that seemed to illuminate in her hands. She had a genuine smile on her face as she carried the flower in her palms.

She took two steps inside, " Leona, I brought y- " She stopped in mid-sentence when her eyes caught a glimpse of Sebastian. Her smile quickly erased for it seemed that he wasn't welcomed here. She crushed the flower in her hands. She dropped the petals on the floor and spoke in a menacing tone," You... You always ruin everything. "

Gwendolyn's blue eyes seemed enraged, " I want you dead Sebastian ! " Gwendolyn leaned down and pulled out a pocket knife from her shoes. In three quick steps she headed towards him. Ciel watch from a far, for time was in slow motion. Ciel mouth was beginning to open and Sebastian pupils dilated. He tighten his grip on his children.

When time seem to return to its normal speed Ciel finally yelled, " Sebastian ! "

Gwendolyn abruptly stopped in place and dropped her knife, Alas Leona stood directly in front of her. Leona held her arm out and was holding something. Ciel caught a glimpse of the object in her hand. Gwendolyn suddenly felt a warm flow of fluid unto her clothes. She slowly looked down at her stomach were an arrow pierced her flesh. Gwendolyn looked Leona in her eyes and smiled, slowly the red liquid dripped from the corner of her lips.

" T-Thank you... " She whispered. Gwendolyn fell onto her knees and clenched the arrow. The blood spot on her clothes was beginning to get bigger. She gazed up at Leona and spoke in a soft tone, " It was what I always wanted. " Gwendolyn gave a raspy cough and the blood dripped even more from her mouth making her once white teeth seem yellow.

Tears began to fill Gwendolyn's eyes for it broke her heart for her to say the next few words, " Because... I've always loved you. "

AN: The next chapter will be in the POV of Gwendolyn ! She reveals a hidden past ! :o
