Chapter 36:
Hanna's P.O.V:
Delilah only woke up 3 times last night, twice for a feed and once for a bum change, so I woke up at 7:30 feeling well rested. "Arrriiiaaaa. It's your fucking wedding day!" I yelled as I jumped onto her and Spencer's bed, waking them and Emily. "Oh my god." Aria said as she sat up. "I'm.. getting.. married today." she stuttered. "No time to freak out now, we've got shit to do." I laughed.
"I need coffee." Spencer said, standing up and heading towards the kitchen. "Here Aria, hold bubs, i'll go get you breakfast." I handed her Delilah and headed to make her some yogurt and muesli with fresh fruit. "Thank you, Han." she said, taking the bowl and shoving a spoonful of the food into her mouth.
"The DJ is here to set up." Emily called from the living room/ now reception venue. "You eat, and watch the baby, we will deal with this." I ordered Aria, and she nodded hesitantly. We showed the DJ where to set up, and where all of the electrical outlets are and went back to check on Aria. "Okay, so the ceremony starts at 4, meaning we need to be ready by 3 at the latest." I said. "How about we each take a shower, and we will start on hair and makeup?" Spencer suggested. "Okay. Aria you go first." Emily smiled, taking Delilah from Aria's arms. "Spence, do you mind if i give Lil a bath in the sink?" I asked, rummaging through her overnight bag fo her baby soap, and a clean diaper and outfit. "Go ahead." Spencer smiled.
I walked into the laundry and started to fill the sink with warm water and bubbles. Shit, I forgot the wash cloth, I thought to myself. "Em, can you please bring me the cloth that's in her diaper bag." I yelled down the hallway, "got it." she yelled back, walking in and handing it to me. "Um, I think the florist lady is here, but I wasn't sure where to tell her to put everything." Emily said, "Shit!" I mumbled, "can you bathe Delilah for me, while I go sort this out?" Emily raised her eyebrows, "Um, I guess so." She said with a half smile.
Emily's P.O.V:
I anxiously took Delilah from Hanna's arms and started to undress her, before checking the water temperature with one hand. I had never bathed a newborn before."Okay Delilah, bare with me. I wont be as good at this as your mummy." I laughed, and Delilah fluttered her long black eyelashes. I placed her tiny body in the water, supporting her head with one arm, and using my other to scoop the warm water over her body. "Is that nice princess?" I coo'ed, laughing at her facial expressions as the water washed over her body. I reached for the washcloth and started gently wiping Delilah's whole body, gently running the cloth over her cheeks and hair, careful to avoid her eyes.
After a few minutes I had wiped over her whole body, "I think you're all done." I smiled, reaching for her little pink hooded towel and wrapping her up in it. "I carried her back into the bedroom where Hanna had laid out her fresh diaper and outfit. "You are just too cute." I said in my best baby voice, admiring how tiny she looked wrapped up in a towel. I laid her down on the bed and patted her dry, then put on the clean diaper. "I can't wait to teach you how to swim in a few years" I smiled, tickling her little toes. I dressed her in the lilac floral onesie and pink ruffle tights Hanna had chosen and pulled her back up into my arms. "All done, Princess" I said, placing a kiss on her nose. "Lets go find your mummy."
Hanna's P.O.V:
Emily walked out into the living room cradling Delilah who was now washed and dressed. "You are the best!" I said, "thanks, Em." "It was no big deal." she said, handing Delilah over to me. "I'm going to go check on Aria." I said and Emily nodded, heading out to help Spencer.
Aria's P.O.V:
"Aria?" I heard Hanna call from outside the bathroom door. I took a deep breath and looked in the mirror, wiping a stray tear from my eye. I was trying so hard not to show it, but I was nervous. "Aria, are you okay in there?" Hanna called, "uh. Yeah." I stuttered, wrapping a towel around myself and trying to put on a brave face. "Let me in." Hanna said, and I obliged, slowly opening the bathroom door.
"Ar, whats wrong?" Hanna said, wrapping her free arm around my still wet shoulders. "I... I don't want my marriage to end up like my parents." I choked out. "You and Ezra are not your parents!" She replied. "Aria, I have never seen two people who love each other as much as you and Ezra." Hanna assured me, "I know. You're right." I nodded, "But what about Malcolm. I'm 18 years old and i'm going to be a step-mum to a 7 year old. What are people going to think?" I sighed. "You will soon learn to not worry what other people think. As long as you, Ezra and Malcolm are happy, nothing else matters." I took a deep breathe and then exhaled. "Thank you, Hanna. I love you." "I love you too. Now, hold my baby while I take a shower." Hanna laughed.
Hanna's P.O.V:
Half and hour later we were all showered and wearing our robes, and I had put Delilah down for a nap. We had decided a few weeks ago to do each others hair and makeup rather than hiring someone. "I'll start with your makeup, Aria, and Spence you can do Emily's hair?" the girls all agreed and we got started. I did a contoured base, with a nude smokey eye and a red lip for Aria's makeup. "You look so pretty!" I said, tried not to tear up. "Thanks Hanna." Aria beamed. Spencer had finished curling and pinning up Emily's hair and they swapped so that Emily was now doing Spence's hair. "Okay, now time for you hair." I said to Aria.
After many hours, lots of laughs, and a few glasses of champagne we were all finished our hair and makeup. The photographer, Linda arrived while I was touching up Aria's makeup and started taking candid shots of all of us while we got ready. "Toby just text me, the boys are almost here." Spencer said excitedly. "They're going to hang out in the barn so that Ezra and Aria don't see each other." Emily clarified.
"Time to put the dresses on. Aria, you're first." Spencer said, and I walked to the closet where Aria's dress was hanging. We all helped her get into the dress, and put her shoes on, before stepping back to admire the finished look. "You look.." I stammered, unable to find a word to describe it, "perfect." Emily concluded with a smile. "Alright, you guys are going to make me cry." Aria laughed, "put your dresses on now!" she buzzed excitedly. So Spencer, Emily and I all quickly changed into our dresses and put on our shoes and accessories.
"Okay, I hate to do this. But its time to wake the baby." I said, heading towards the bedroom. "Delilah Shae, time to wake up." I whispered, lifting her from the bassinet. "We gotta put you dressed for Aunty Ari and Uncle Ezzie's wedding." I coo'ed and her eyes slowly fluttered open. "Do you want me to help you dress her?" Caleb asked. I hadn't noticed him watching us from the doorway. "Caleb!" I smiled,"You look beautiful." he said, biting his bottom lip. "And don't worry, Toby and Hardy are watching Ezra. I just needed to come see my girls." he added, taking a few steps towards me before gently kissing my lips. "I missed you last night." He said smiling down at Delilah, who was now fully awake and smiling like usual. "We missed you too." I half smiled, watching him wrap Delilah up in a hug.
"Can you pass me a fresh diaper and some wipes babe?" "Anything for my princesses." I changed her diaper and put on her new cream lace tights, followed by the dress i had bought in Cali with Claudia a few weeks earlier, and finally the matching headband. "Oh my gosh, she looks freaking adorable!" I squealed, holding Lilah so that she was facing Caleb. "you both do." Caleb smiled.
"Sorry to interrupt." A voice came from the hall way, it was Linda. "How about a family shot of the 3 of you by the lake?" She offered, "that would be great." I smiled, and Caleb and I headed out to lake for some photos. "Perfect." Linda said, "now just the girls." "You should get back to the guys." I said to Caleb, while Spencer, Emily and Aria were getting organised for photos. "See you soon." He winked, and headed back up to the barn. The girls and I then got what felt like a million photos together.
It was 3:45pm, just 15 minutes until the ceremony. And everyone had started to take their seats. Spencer, Toby, Emily,Hardy, Aria, Malcolm, Caleb and Myself and of course Delilah all waited inside, while Ezra took his position at the end of the aisle with Pastor Ted. "Everyone get in order." I said, and everyone laughed, but did as they were told. I placed Delilah in the cushioned cart which Malcolm was going to pull her in, and we were all ready.
The music started.
