Time to Relax

I don't own Digimon

Inside the computer lab, Yolei, Kari, Cody, Ken, and TK still nursing his broken arm sat in some chairs, their exhausted Digimon partners rested on the ground in a heap. "I can't believe it," Yolei said in disbelief.

"What?" Cody asked her.

"That we've finally defeated Barbamon after all this trouble. All these weeks of fighting his control spire Digimon, he is finally gone," she answered him.

"Yeah. I can't believe it either, and I saw him get destroyed by his own attack," Ken said.

"Well, I can't believe that Daisuke and Veemon managed to actually merge and become one," Kari said with a smile.

"Does that mean we will be able to do the same?" Patamon asked curious.

"I'm not sure, but can you imagine what I would look like merged with Kari?" Gatomon asked as the others thought of Kari and Gatomon merging into a new Digimon that looked like Catwoman and they sniggered.

"So not funny you guys," Kari said with a pout but she smiled soon after. "But seriously, if it takes one of us getting hurt to reach that level, I'm not sure I want to." There was silence as the other digested the statement before nodding in agreement. After an awkward pause, TK slid in with a change in topic.

"I wonder what Daisuke's doing right now?" TK asked making the others look at him before they also thought about what Daisuke might be doing right at the moment. "I should go see her tomorrow."

"No way mister. Not with your arm in the way it is, you're going to the hospital to get it fixed. Got it?" Kari asked him, and TK sighed before he nodded his head.

"Alright. I'll go get my arm fixed tomorrow. And then I am seeing Daisuke." Kari and the others nodded.

Meanwhile in Daisuke's room, she and Demi-Veemon came out of the computer and both collapsed in exhaustion. Moments later Daisuke's parents walked in.

"Daisuke, are you alright?" her mother asked.

"Oh. You could say that," she answered, looking up at her parents and flashing them a grin. Demi-Veemon groaned.

"What happened?" her father asked as he helped his daughter onto her bed while her mother picked up Demi-Veemon and held him gently.

"Long story short, ran into psychotic Digimon who was behind all the control spires I created being turned into Digimon who called himself Barbamon, then when we tried to fight him he took all of us to what appeared to be the Digital World's version of hell and he beat our ultimate level Digimon easily. Then…." Daisuke said before she shot up.

"Then what?" her mother asked.

"TK! He hurt TK and broke his arm, I need to see if he's alright," Daisuke said urgently, but before she could run out of her room her father gently pushed her back down.

"Now, Daisuke. You've just gotten back from a big battle and you look exhausted. What else happened?" he asked her.

"Demi-Veemon and I somehow merged together into a Digimon," Daisuke answered, making her parents look at her surprised.

"You did?"

"Yeah. It was called UlforceVeedramon, and we kicked Barbamon's butt," she said with a grin. Demi-Veemon nodded, agreeing with his partner before he and Daisuke yawned from exhaustion.

"I think it's time for you two to go to sleep, you've had a long and exhausting day," Daisuke's father told them, and both tried to argue but before they were able they fell asleep and started to snore in sync, making Daisuke's parents smile gently at their daughter and her partner.

In the depths of the Digital World a dark figure walked alone through a devastated battlefield. It was a humanoid figure dressed in long robes with demonic purple wings, striding forward with purpose. "It was here Barbamon disappeared," he murmured in thought. "But who could have defeated him? Perhaps he is simply beyond my sight, recovering from injuries? No, I shouldn't assume he's deleted just yet." Nodding and satisfied with itself, the figure continued forth. "After all, even I would hesitate to fight him in this place."

A few minutes later, an object caught the figure's dark blue eyes. "Hmm?" It was Barbamon's staff, broken into two pieces on the blasted ground. "It seems that he really was defeated then. I need to know what happened, how the DigiDestined defeated him in this place. That power would threaten even myself." The Digimon picked up the head of the staff and the gem lit up before projecting an image of a ferocious fight between Demon Lord and Royal Knight. "UlforceVeedramon! And somehow the DigiDestined fused with their Digimon to reach the next level?" he asked rhetorically.

The image having finished with Barbamon's self-destruction, he tossed the staff head away. "This is not what I had predicted. Barbamon was still useful to me and the DigiDestined's continued existence threatens my plans. Moreover, I cannot rule out the possibility of other DigiDestined reaching that level if pressured." A slow smile formed on his face underneath the hood of his robe. "But knowing is half the battle. It will take a short period of time to come up with a countermeasure to UlforceVeedramon, but there's no reason not to begin the next stage now," he said with satisfaction. "After all, if the DigiDestined are forced to separate into different places, the odds of my facing more than one Mega drop considerably." The figure laughed as he disappeared in a black flash.

The next day in the human world, Daisuke opened her eyes slowly and sat up in her bed. "Man, I sure slept like a log," she said to herself as she saw Demi-Veemon snoring loudly beside her, making her smile at her partner. "Hey, buddy wake up," she told him as she poked him gently, and Demi-Veemon waved his little arm at her.

"Go away, me sleeping," he responded making Daisuke laugh at him.

"Alright, whatever buddy." Standing up she got changed and walked out of her room. "I'm going to see if TK's alright," she told her parents who both nodded at her, smiles adorning their faces.

"Take care honey," her mother told her. Daisuke nodded before leaving the apartment. Heading to TK's nearby residence, she knocked on his door.

"Just a minute," a voice replied, the door soon opened and Daisuke saw TK standing there with a thick cast on his arm with a sash around it for added support. "Dai, hi," he greeted before he frowned as he saw Daisuke looking at his arm in worry. "Don't worry about it Dai, it should be fine in a few weeks if I don't do anything to strenuous," he reassured her.

"This is all my fault," Daisuke said in a barely audible whisper.

"What made you think that?" TK asked her in confusion as he shut the door behind him after stepping out of the apartment.

"I underestimated the power of Barbamon, and everyone nearly died because of me," Daisuke told him.

"That's not true Dai."

"Of course it's true! Look at you; you've broken your arm because of me! And I nearly lost you yesterday," she responded with tears threatening to fall from her eyes.

"You can't blame yourself for what happened Dai, we all were fighting Barbamon because we knew we had to stop him before he destroyed the Digital World. What happened to me isn't your fault," TK told her again as he lifted Daisuke's face up to meet his eyes.

"TK….I care too much about you. If something bad happened to you because of me, I would never forgive myself," she told him emotionally.

"I care about you too Dai, I have ever since I saw you, even though you were the Digimon Empress for a time I still cared about you," TK told her with a smile and Daisuke smiled at him.

"So, what does this exactly mean for us?" she asked him curiously.

"What do you mean?" TK asked her.

"Like, are we back together or should we have some more time as friends or…." Daisuke started before she was cut off as TK kissed her on the lips and her eyes went wide before she slowly closed them and she returned the kiss to TK and they both broke the passionate kiss once air became an issue. "Wow…"

"I'll say," TK replied with a smile and Daisuke smiled back at him.

"So does this mean we're a couple?" she asked him and TK was silent and this made Daisuke worry for a minute.

"Yeah, I guess it does," TK told her making Daisuke smile brightly at him and he smiled back at her.

The moment was broken by a ringing from Daisuke's digivice. She pulled it out of her pocket and answered, seeing that Izzy was trying to contact her.

"Yes?"

"Daisuke, we have a major problem," Izzy's voice replied, sounding very serious. "Come to the computer lab immediately, and bring anyone else with you. Both the original DigiDestined and your generation need to be there." Nodding, a concerned look passed over her own face.

"Got it." Daisuke turned to TK. "Are you up to heading off?" she asked. TK nodded.

"Don't worry about me. My mom will probably let me hear it later, but this sounds more important." A nod and the two headed off. A bus ride to their school later, they headed straight for the computer lab. The rest of the DigiDestined were already arrived, and seeing two enter had Izzy nod.

"I'll make this brief because we don't have much time. Digimon have appeared all over the world in dangerous numbers and are causing havoc. Local DigiDestined are doing an admirable job, but are outmatched and outnumbered. You are the only ones with the ability to reach Ultimate, and it's up to us to help them."

"What do we do?" Cody asked with his eyes wide.

"Gennai has figured out a way, with liberal amount of illegal hacking, to us the Digital World as a way to travel around the world quickly. We need to split into groups of two and head to the worst spots where the locals are getting overwhelmed," Izzy explained. Tai stepped forwards and began to break both the original and new DigiDestined into groups.

"And I want Daisuke and TK to stay here," he instructed. Continuing upon seeing Daisuke about to protest, he said, "This city is really bad off," he warned. There was a pause and all of the other DigiDestined pales slightly as they heard the sounds of destruction.

"How did I miss that?" Daisuke exclaimed.

"It wasn't that loud until shortly after you arrived," Matt explained. "But now's not the time for talk. Everyone but TK and Daisuke, into the Digital World!"

TK and Daisuke shared a look. They had a really bad feeling about this.
