Oregano and the Secrets of Sycamore Isle! Part Six

By: peanutbutterlung (Whale)

Down a Vacant Alleyway in Downtown Ushmel

Oregano was currently pouting up a storm with a scrunched up face like some kind of sour candy mascot. He was sitting back pitifully against a building that made up one side of the new alleyway that he now found himself in.

Tompkins was of course, naturally stationed at his post atop Oregano's head. The seagull had been, and was currently still trying his best to 'scrunch' up his beak in order to imitate Oregano's pouty expression. He was failing in this challenge unfortunately and was almost entirely unsuccessful in his attempt. His powerful drive to remain hip in the eyes of his peers wouldn't let him throw in the towel just yet though as he continued to contort his little seagull face as hard as he could.

Polen on the other hand was looking bored as all get out at this current situation he now found himself in. He along with Tompkins, Oregano and Nyree the moa had been escorted hastily to this empty alleyway by the hooded ninja woman from earlier. While this woman led the way from the previous street they were on, she was also dragging the two security guards that had been knocked out with them. She had managed to tie them up before they all left the scene.

Polen saw all of this as being exceptionally dull and wished he was with Bo instead of in this stinkin' cramped up alleyway. It was because of this that he began to mope around and occasionally give Oregano a stink eye or two from underneath his 'cool shades'. That oughta show him he figured.

Nyree the moa just simply stood at the end of the alleyway wondering what she and her new pals had gotten themselves into. One moment she is in a heated battle with them, the next they are talking with some woman in a back alley. She desperately wished Tompkins would come and communicate what in the world was going on, but that wacky seagull wasn't about to leave Oregano's noggin, especially not until he achieved the scrunched face look he so desperately desired. So because of all of this she was currently out of luck and in a rut.

It had been about 10 minutes now since Oregano's earlier encounter with the security guards and the hooded ninja woman who had showed up at the last second -The very same woman who freaked out at the mention of Daveed and the Shedyed mind you - And in doing so practically confirmed herself to be Daveed's sister Ameera. She also surprisingly revealed that she knew who Oregano was to boot which was very unnerving for all our pals that were present.

All these tidbits of juicy information were just waiting to be brought up, or asked by Oregano. He had promised Daveed he would find Ameera for him, and here she actually was! Questions that he wanted to desperately ask were all on the tip of his tongue and ready to jump off and be free - However the current conversation had been, and actually still was completely one sided in favor of the hooded ninja woman… or who Oregano now assumed for certain was Ameera.

As Oregano was being talked at by the woman, he was looking like a big bloody mess from his earlier fight. Ameera continued to talk at him without missing a beat however despite his sorry state – But he at least was a bandaged bloody mess, for the woman had at least kept her word despite desperately not wanting to help a criminal – She treated the gash wound on his shoulder from the guard's chain and patched it up.

This kind act was the last of such gestures however; for once she finished tending to Oregano's wounds the great hounding and interrogation process that had been going and was still taking place began to take hold.

"Can't you see I might have a hard time believing that you, 'Triple Six' Oregano have my brother's best interest in mind!?" Ameera spoke towards Oregano who was sitting on the ground directly before her.

"Hey, haha yeah about that… I can explain…" Oregano began to reply back, finally happy that he found an opening into the conversation, but was promptly cut off once he spoke.

"Eh, eh, no you aren't going to talk your way out of this. I'm not about to fall prey to some devious trick you pirate types are so well known for pulling. The fact that one day you are burning cities down, and the next day you are parading around my village with some fake broken leg getup and this random assortment of animals… in some extravagant charade of sorts… you're just some sick and twisted man, and you aren't going to fool me."

Ameera spoke fiercely. Her words were carried bluntly with a certain force behind them which resonated with a soulful purpose.

These words of hers had long since wavered from the emotions that built up upon hearing Daveed's name casually dropped by the demon before her; her new words simply heaved about like hot fire thanks to the strong resolution that built up within her. Her words were flying directly at Oregano in straight from the heart word form.

"You're dealing with someone who isn't about to give you any leeway whatsoever here. This town… 'My town' has been through hell and back since Skrullton Labs moved in. We've watched as it dug its sinister roots in deep, sucking the life out of everything that made this port town a 'home' in the first place. "

Ameera paused briefly and continued "You showing up today… you aren't going to make the people of Ushmel experience more loss and heartache - Doesn't matter that you took out those guards either… for all I know they were just the warm up session for your next reign of terror."

Ameera paused once more after her onslaught of sticking it to Oregano had left her momentarily breathless. Her piercing eyes were all that could be seen behind her cloth mask. They were beautiful and enchanting despite being currently filled with malice and they shone brightly from underneath the shadow of her dark hood.

She tightened her fists in anger when realizing the next topic that she was now going to lash out at Oregano about– The topic of her brother Daveed and what Oregano could have possible done to him. She had glossed over it before, when she was still caught up a bit with emotion, but after her words began to become precise and controlled after lashing out at Oregano a couple times now, she was ready to face this serious topic.

By this time Oregano's face looked reminiscent of a wet paper-bag - It was just like the kind of sad sight one sees when they realize their juice box has leaked and ruined their entire lunch. Oregano's previous pouty lip condition had now transformed into just a sad state across his entire face.

Ameera was ripping him apart and he felt like a complete weenie. Every time he had tried to butt in on the convo, her gaze tightened and she instinctively stretched her fingers towards either the metal baton or whip she had tied at her waist. She was an intimidating site to say the least.

Tompkins was relieved that Oregano had stopped with his pouty lips and was instead just looking plain sad. He had still been struggling at scrunching his beak up and was much better at just looking upset.

That little seagull was showing he was more of a 'goose' than a 'gull' with what a sucker he was currently being – He was more concerned about fitting in rather than Oregano's feelings. He and Oregano were two wet paper-bags in a pod as far as he was concerned though.

Fitting in was all that mattered in this moment. He desperately needed this new ninja woman before him to know he was hip, regardless of whoever she was or how mad she seemed to be at Oregano… He was gonna make a solid first impression – Rather it be a sad one or not.

"Now then, 'Triple Six'…" Ameera began to speak again once she had managed to catch her breath. The sound in her voice alone gave way towards knowing just how twisted her face must be in frustration behind her mask as she spoke.

"What business exactly do you have with my brother? I will not tolerate you using my family as your play things in this warped game of yours. So get up now, I'm prepared to fight you if need be. I imagine the beast that set Oion aflame isn't going to be set back by a mere cut on his shoulder, with that in mind I probably didn't need to bandage you up did I? Just using me too huh?" Ameera muttered.

"So get up if we need to settle things that way – I bet that cast and crutch routine is just some fake ploy too anyway. Or even if it isn't… I'll still be happy to take you out." Ameera gritted in disgust. "My family and my home are off limits to wretched pirates like you."

Before Oregano even got a chance to reply, within just a couple seconds after Ameera's last words, a fuzzy gray paw suddenly appeared out of Oregano's peripheral blind spot and jabbed him right in the left eye.

"Ayeeeee Polen! Hey that hurt!" Oregano cried out as he proceeded to then fall over onto the ground and lay in the sandy alleyway on his side - All the while rolling around in agony in a very dramatic fashion.

Tompkins had resisted the initial jolt that Oregano made as he fell dolefully onto the ground by digging his talons deep into the goofy pirates scalp. The subsequent dramatic writhing and rolling around on the ground that Oregano performed however managed to toss the gull from his perch.

As Tompkins watched the pitiful display before him, he easily fought the urge to fit in on this particular scenario. He was embarrassed for Oregano, heck anyone would be.

As our bird friend blushed and cringed about, he suddenly and sharply directed his attention towards Polen who was now currently relishing in his victory over the grade 'A' sucker, known as Oregano.

This showboating was very off-putting and would be hard to stomach for fans of all things just and righteous, but Tompkins didn't care about such formalities as these– He was simply upset that he was currently off his perch and he knew exactly who was to blame – Who else but that darned marsupial?!

Tompkins suddenly bolted in an instant, a feathery mess slowly floating to the sandy street beneath where he once stood. He had targeted Polen and blitzed him without warning; he was ready for a grand wrestling beat down to take place. The match of course took place right beside Oregano's wiggling body, and soon all three of them were caught up in a grappling fiasco for the ages – Complimentary dust cloud and all.

It's a mystery as to why Polen ultimately decided to poke Oregano in the eye at that very moment mere seconds ago. Some might assume his boredom and overall attention issues got the best of him. Maybe he simply couldn't stand the fact that Oregano and this new lady were the only ones currently engaging in conversation. How dare they chat it up in his presence and just ignore him?

Another option might just paint our fuzzy friend in a better light however – Some might say Polen could have seen the tight situation Oregano was about to get into, and after all the cards pointed to Oregano being a villain, the only thing Polen could do was make him look as nonthreatening as possible. Knowing Oregano would act like a baby if he were poked in the eye, Polen the tricky koala may have just planned the whole situation out to save his pal from getting whopped by a ninja.

Regardless of the reason for the eye-poke, Ameera was speechless from the event that was now taking place in front of her. "This guy… with the animals… and now with the fighting… eh, this is too much trouble to go through to just keep a role up in some crazy charade right? Could this guy really have no shame?" Ameera muttered under her breath.

"Ouch Poleeeeeen! We made a no-bite rule - don't you remember?!" Oregano hollered from inside the dust cloud that he still found himself deep within. A mixed sound of laughter and pain followed this outburst, coming from all three participants respectively – Such rules were for babies and they all knew it.

Ameera shook her head slowly as she wondered if they had actually forgotten that she was even there. As she continued to watch the fight, not sure of how she should act exactly, Polen suddenly emerged from the tussle and ran towards Nyree who was still standing with elegance at the end of the alleyway.

Nyree was surprised to see the fuzzy koala bear running towards her and happily leaned her neck down so that he could climb up and onto her back with ease. Polen's attempt at reaching where Oregano couldn't get him had now succeeded. He was now safe on the back of a giant moa bird as far as he was concerned.

Ameera had followed the movements the koala had made up until he had reached the moa at the end of the alleyway. Once her eyes met with the native bird of her island though, thoughts she tried to ignore before upon seeing the creature began to show their little heads in her mind once more. These thoughts she had tried to suppress were now even managing to overpower even the ridiculous antics she had a front row seat to staring 'Triple Six' Oregano before her.

The Sycamore Moa birds were an incredibly docile and timid species native to Sycamore Isle. These birds had a known distrust for humans and this was common knowledge to all of Sycamore's citizens. Sycamore Isle wasn't a tiny island by any means, but it was snug enough for the humans there to notice that the birds tried all they could to avoid contact whenever and wherever humans were present. The new addition of Skrullton Labs made this all the more evident as herds of Moas were now spreading further and further away from civilization on the island.

Many old wives-tales had been passed down from generation to generation by word of mouth about these birds - Tales intending to explain their habits, mannerisms and roles as occupants here on the island.

Many tales included the idea that these mysterious Moa birds were actually able to accurately judge a person's character and were known to trust and befriend those certain select few with a 'pure' soul that had passed their precise and careful judgement over the years.

Ameera scoffed in response to the thought of such a tale, reminding herself of the absurdity that this particular idea and many other old tales held within them.

As Ameera was now coming back to her senses, the fact that she had just witnessed this wrestling free-for-all before her made her question if her 'senses' would ever truly come back to what they once were after the absurdity she witnessed.

Was this really the guy who had set Oion into a frenzied panic just yesterday? Some goof who roughhouses with a koala and a seagull surely didn't mesh well with the ruthless demon moniker that he now sported.

Ameera glanced once more over to Nyree the moa, who was still standing at the end of the alleyway before her with a koala posing on her back in some absurd macho flexing pose of sorts.

She could feel her imagination begin to overpower her gut feeling more and more as the bizarre surroundings around her began to cloud her judgement. The phrase 'tales were often set in truth' didn't help her in the least and kept ringing in her head. She didn't necessarily believe this line to be true for all stories, but even the slightest bit hesitation seemed to pull her usually stable mind in unpredictable directions.

Not a second after experiencing these odd sensations, her grip on reason left in an instant as she realized she was about to speak something she might regret, this action was almost entirely against her will, but with a resounding tone she commanded. "Alright now that's enough!"

Oregano and Tompkins, who by now had stopped wrestling since Polen had escaped, were now instead catching their breaths after the whole ordeal – However upon hearing Ameera's stern voice the two froze and directed their beady eyes up to see what the ninja was going to do with them.

They both had by now realized the mistake that they had made in ignoring her under such pressing matters and their eyebrows were both raised high in suspense.

"You have one minute 'Triple Six'… You better get to talking." Ameera muttered firmly through her mask as her powerful eyes cut like daggers at Oregano who was still sprawled out and looking as pitiful as could be on the ground before her. His bird was now back on top of his head and managed to look just as pitiful.

As she waited for the response that this irregular pirate would give her, she began to wonder why she was even giving him a chance in the first place – What was it about this guy in front of her that made her want to trust him?

Would he in fact decide to just take advantage of this situation and play her for a fool? Give her some bullshit explanation just for the heck of it?

Or would he actually tell her the truth? The more she wondered about this the more she began to realize that the truth might sound more like bullshit than anything else. Did she really want to hear the truth?

She didn't know what exactly to expect as a response, but in the back of her mind she blamed the ridiculousness taking place around her for swaying and impacting her though process and overall decision making. In the future she knew she would have to be stronger to not let such a thing happen again. Such gambles couldn't be made again.

Oregano began to smile like a little radiant angel boy once Ameera's words hit his ears. The words were like velvet as they flowed through his ear canals giving him a wonderful sensation of relief. He was so happy that he would now finally be able to clear things up. He hated how upset he was obviously making his pal Daveed's sister.

"Ameera… Hey I'm real sorry that things got so out of hand here! Real talk you gotta believe me here - This has all been a humongo misunderstanding." Oregano began to finally speak. He had been grinning for quite a while and that likely burnt up at least half the time Ameera was planning on giving him.

Ameera responded to Oregano's simple words by placing a hand on her hip and then proceeded to shift her balance over from her left leg to her right leg. She had slid her leg to the side and thus widened her stance. In doing so she had pulled the universal 'I'm not impressed' posture out on Oregano!

Oregano swallowed hard as he managed to shake off the image Ameera was casting before him. He knew why she had done it; the lines he just spoke were generic and meaningless without substance to back them up. He had to get them out of the way though; they were the routine lines one says every time a misunderstanding occurs.

Oregano now knew he had to pick his next words right – The pressure was on full blast!

"Whew, well jeez Louise …Where should I begin?" Oregano laughed as he began to scratch his head. He then took a deep breath, thought about what he wanted to say and began.

"I guess first of all I better explain to you that I'm actually not the cruddy guy the marines are painting me out to be. You see it all started two days ago after I had finally set sail from my home island of Plisboro Cove. Everything was going fine, my dream of become an adventurer was coming true right before my eyes – Well everything was great that is until I realized I decided to set sail before a big celebration. "Oregano laughed as he recalled the events and continued.

"You see this departure of mine... Haha well it kind of rubbed the head security chief back on Plisboro the wrong way, and he made sure to contact the marines and tell them all about me the very next day. Talk about a good way to start a journey huh?" Oregano added with a smile.

Ameera was still standing before him in a very dissatisfied manner, but she didn't make any clues that she was ready for him to stop talking so Oregano proceeded along.

"Ummm, well let's see I guess one thing led to another from that point and I kind of ended up holding this marine guy at gun point while I was on Yortori Rise…"

Ameera's eyes widened upon hearing this comment and began to realize he was in fact just the pirate the marines said he was. She slowly began to reach down towards her metal baton as she whispered with a harsh voice. "I knew it."

"Ayee, listen please I know that sounds bad but this marine guy had my pal Barnaban and his whole crew in a tight jam – I was just providing some back up for them honestly! Plus this marine in hindsight turned out to be a real turd of a guy. His name was Difetto and he…" Oregano quickly answered in hopes of halting Ameera's decision to fight him. He was however cut off in an instant once he mentioned Difetto's name by Ameera.

"Difetto… Tsch, that miserable excuse for a man…" Ameera bluntly responded upon hearing Oregano mentioning of his name. Her eyes were becoming increasingly more narrowed by the second.

"Oh so you know him? Heck yeah we have some common ground between us now Ameera! He's actually the guy who started the rumors that I was responsible for the fires on Oion! Worst of all though - He tried to sabotage Bo Stockston by contaminating his drinking water with some chemical from Skrullton Labs!'

Oregano's words were flying with a quickness now more than ever. Once he heard Ameera's claim about Difetto he was determined to show her they were on the same page!

"I was able to prevent Bo from drinking the water luckily and that on top of me holding him at gunpoint earlier resulted in him throwing the blame on me for the fires that he actually started himself on Oion. Bo made sure to intimidate some of his cronies and found all of this info out for us." Oregano exclaimed. The thoughts of him messing around on Oion and creeping around in that dark office area where he eavesdropped on Difetto and his man were hot on his mind.

Oregano was then suddenly hit with a fierce realization due to him connecting all the bits of info floating around in his mind. "Wait just a minute… Skrullton Labs, I've heard that name dropped so many times already today and completely forgot to associate it with Difetto until now."

Ameera was standing silently while Oregano blabbed away, his words were sinking in but she wasn't responding back to him. An agitated twitch was slightly noticeable around her eyes and throughout the muscles in her arms.

"That man… That repulsive man was at the very forefront in terms of people who helped pave the way for Skrullton Labs to set up here and get established on my island. Hearing your claims about what he has done to you and Mr. Stockston, certainly helps your story come together better for me personally since I know that man's true colors." Ameera finally responded after her moment of silent listening had ended.

Oregano was beaming with joy now upon hearing Ameera was beginning to trust him. All the while his feathery friend Tompkins was right there with him grinning up a storm!

"Ameera you don't know how relieved I am to hear you say that!" Oregano replied still grinning away like he was posing for a school photo or something.

"Don't be fooled, you aren't out of the woods yet. There is still the bigger matter of what you have to do with my brother and why you are here on my island in the first place? Come to strike revenge against Skrullton Labs?" Ameera questioned. Before Oregano could reply to her words however she continued to speak.

"Using Difetto as a possible scapegoat may have just been a stroke of luck in some fake explanation. I need the full story before I make up my mind." She had quickly added these words before Oregano was even able to respond to her first questions.

He had been grilled for the past 10 minutes or so, so he was beginning to get used to waiting for her to go silent for at least a couple seconds before he even tried to respond.

"Right on! I feel you there –Always best to hear the whole story right?! Well let's see here…" Oregano finally replied only to then pause as he thought back to his earlier interaction with Daveed a couple hours ago.

"When I first got to this island all the streets were practically empty. It was pretty eerie docking the boat and not seeing anyone present. It sure made it easy for a pirate ship like ours to slide on by though! We got to come on by without rustling any citizens luckily haha. Bo had gone off on his own by the time we practically docked the ship and left me with my animal buds to go exploring on our own."

Oregano was relaying the whole day but Ameera just wanted the important details so she gave a slight swirl of her hand to notify Oregano to get on with it.

"Oh sorry let's see Daveed right?" Oregano apologized once he saw Ameera wasn't in the mood to hear his life story or anything. "Well after exploring the city some and not seeing anyone for a while I was shocked when I finally came across your brother lying down face first on some vacant street."

"He was what?!" Ameera replied harshly. She made sure not to yell, she hadn't yelled the entire time they had been in this alleyway and she planned to keep it that way. They were here for a reason and it was to go unnoticed. Even if the majority of people in the city were either sick or closed up in their homes she wasn't the type to ever take any chances. Worry was now swirling around in a fierce manner in her tone but her words didn't elevate beyond the volume of an average speaking voice.

Oregano understood why Ameera had lost her cool at the mentioning of her brother face down in the street. He probably should have worded it a little nicer in hindsight.

"Don't worry, don't worry it's not as bad as it sounds!" Oregano reassured Ameera. Her eyes were full of concern and clearly showed that Oregano's words about her brother certainly didn't sound good by any means despite him trying to reassure her.

"When I finally made it over to him… Haha it takes me a while to move with this darn broken leg." Oregano added as he looked down at his broken left leg.

"Well anyway when I finally made it to him, he was super fatigued and unresponsive." Oregano stated, but immediately spat the remaining words out as fast as he could to stop Ameera from worrying any more than she already was.

"But, but, but I was able to get the attention of a family in a nearby house and we were able to put him in a bed that they had so that he could rest some and then I fixed them all some soup!" Oregano smiled as he continued.

"After just a few minutes Daveed woke up and after much insisting he ate some soup and we were all having a good time! Everyone in the house looked pretty weak so it was the least I could do. The good times weren't all the way good though – Your brother was really bogged down about something and after some pressing from me about what was wrong, he mentioned you and that you had joined up with the group called the Shedyed."

Ameera's eyes began to water slightly after Oregano had finished talking. She instinctively shut her lids tight in hopes of hiding her tears that were beginning to well up.

"You don't understand…" Ameera finally spoke after a brief pause. A gust of wind picked up bits of sand and blew them delicately behind her as she stood with a defeated posture.

"People in this village don't just pass out or get tired out of the blue anymore. It's not like it was from dehydration or heat stroke… When someone collapses here it's because of the devils at Skrullton Labs..."

Oregano was shocked upon hearing Ameera's comments. Could this Skrullton Labs place really be allowed to ruin an entire village like this? He had always assumed that Difetto had just abused one of their products, but now he was beginning to realize that the blame went both ways.

"Ameera!? I can't see how such a company can go unnoticed by the authorities!"

Ameera shook her head slowly. "Of course, it's not normal right? Cruel and unjust as well correct? Well it's all that damned Difetto's doing… That lowlife got bribed by the president of Skrullton Labs; they call him 'Deep Pockets' Yarboro. I don't know if you've heard of him or not but he is an exceptionally wealthy business man who resides in the Grand Line and has his hands in more companies and money than he knows what to do with."

Oregano and Tompkins were both raising their eyebrows high as they listened to Ameera laying everything out to them. They had no idea they were gonna get a schooling on the what's what on Sycamore Isle but they were getting super into it now.

"Yarboro sees Skrullton Labs as a get in get out type of business. It certainly has high risk but that's what filth like Difetto are for. You see with the appearance of the 'Worst Generation' and pirates like them popping up here and there all over… This is especially true now that Whitebeard's death has started a whole new movement of pirate activity. Investors from all walks of life are looking for defensive means to protect themselves… Skrullton Labs is producing such a solution in the form of a nerve gas and numerous other products. Unbeknownst to the outside world however they are cutting down on the time it would take to test and regulate their product and are simply conducting unmonitored experiments and asking for volunteers in this poverty stricken town to test their 'special' product and receive a slight compensation for it."

Ameera was getting mad and rightfully so! Her hands were shaking with rage and her voice that she had kept to normal levels was now increasing in both volume and severity.

"All any of them see when they look at us, when they look at my family, my friends… all they see us as is money or guinea pigs!"

Oregano was stunned he was speechless for quite a while, and Ameera was too. She was seething with all the thoughts and actions she had running through her head. Images of her people suffering at the feet of the corrupt Yarboro and his wicked ways.

"Ameera I don't know what to say…" Oregano began to finally reply but Ameera talked over him.

"There's nothing else to say Oregano… The people of Ushmel have been knocked down for the last time however. The Shedyed are striking and they don't have the fear inside of them anymore like they used to. They may have the weight of an entire village resting on their shoulders but they are used to struggles so that won't be an issue for them."

"Ameera, but Daveed told me to tell you not to join in with the Shedyed." Oregano softly spoke.

"I didn't say I was in the Shedyed did I?" Ameera replied back in a sarcastically mean tone. It wasn't meant to be mean towards Oregano; she was just frustrated and didn't want word to get out to her family about her involvement.

Seeing Oregano's face slouch before her she quickly spoke. "If the marines won't save our town we have to ourselves. No more depending on that lazy excuse for a marine Nightbright that Difetto managed to get reassigned to inspection duty here all the way from headquarters. How he pulled that off right under the noses of the higher ups is beyond me."

"Nightbright?!" Oregano immediately shouted in surprise.

Ameera raised an eyebrow at this outburst and tilted her head. "What you're familiar with him?"

"I just saw him earlier today! He said he had an arrangement to take care of here on Sycamore Isle! That's why I'm here in the first place! I had no idea the arrangement would be inspecting Skrullton Labs though! He and his marine underling probably arrived a little before I did! Talk about a coincidence right?"

As Oregano's last word came falling out of his mouth, Ameera had leaped into the air over his head and landed on the roof of the house he was still propped up against. He could only hear one soft footstep on the roof above him before she bolted away in an instant.

He and Tompkins were both whirling their heads around in all different directions trying to see where Ameera had run off too. But she was so fast and out of their line of sight so it was to no avail. She was booking it and gone!

In turning around looking for Ameera, Oregano's eyes soon fixated on the end of the alleyway and noticed that it was now empty. In the heat of his conversation with Ameera he must have completely missed Polen and Nyree completely ditching them.

"Wait what?" Were the only words he could muster at the fact that that crazy koala was out riding on the back of a giant moa bird.

"I guess they didn't want to hang out with us anymore huh Tompkins?" Oregano laughed slightly. It was hard for him to shake all the heavy things that Ameera had revealed to him, so even laughing at the little things like this was hard for him to manage.

Tompkins was in the same boat, and this time it wasn't even because he wanted to fit in. His little birdy heart was overwhelmed with emotion. Tompkins slowly nodded in agreement to his master's comment but reassumed a slouched pose after doing so.

Oregano hung his head in silent though for a bit as his eyes eventually wandered down to his shoulder. His neon green lion shirt that he was wearing was pretty much ruined. The gash wound from the chain had left it all bloody and tore off pretty much the entire sleeve.

"Hmmm." Oregano murmured to himself after studying the damage on his shirt for a little while. A devious plan was now beginning to come into his head. He looked over towards the still knocked out security guards that Ameera had left tied up in the alleyway with him and they were still out cold.

"Hey Tompkins I think I have a plan my man! You wanna stick it to those guys at Skrullton too right?!" Oregano hollered.

Tompkins squawked loudly in agreement towards Oregano's words.

"Now that's what I like to hear pal!" Oregano laughed as he held his hand up to give the bird atop his noggin a righteous high-five.

Hand met wing in the manliest of fashions which ended with a resounding 'slap' sound which was echoing throughout the alleyway.

"Alright then! Here's the plan…"
