Combining a few here. I always get requests to show the kids and their significant others along with ones for the kids to get into fights with one parent or the other. This one is Roland centric and features Lily (another common request). They're 16 here. Also, my choice for Mal's crappy ex does not mean I hated that character, I literally picked someone at random, haha.

Regina stood in the kitchen, tapping her foot. She wasn't sure just how angry she wanted to be when her son came home. She couldn't believe he had lied to her. Furthermore, she couldn't believe that she hadn't been able to spot said lie. Henry and Penelope were both very good liars, she wasn't exactly used to it, but when they did lie and got away with it, she could understand. But Roland…he was terrible at it. His cheeks got all flushed and he stumbled on her words. Yet, he had been able to look at her with a straight face and be dishonest. Would she have been happy with the truth? Not necessarily, but there would've been ways to get around it. She had sent Penelope up to her room to do her homework and Henry was off at college, so it would just be the two of them.

The door to the house opened and shut, letting her know that her younger son was home. As usual, he walked into the kitchen for a snack and then saw the look on his mother's face.

"You okay, Mom?" Roland asked, lowering his backpack onto the table.

"I got a call today from your History teacher." Regina's voice wasn't loud, it was low. Roland shivered a bit by her frosty tone along with what she had said. This wasn't going to be good.

"Uh huh…"

"Apparently I was supposed to sign off on a project grade, but I never received it."

"Mom…"

"So, imagine my surprise. Typically, we only have to sign off on bad grades and you told me that you got a B on your project." Her arms crossed across her chest. "Do you want to retract that statement?"

Roland sighed. "I knew you were going to freak out."

"I would've been upset Roland, especially since this was a project you had the whole semester to work on and it's worth 40% of your grade. But I wouldn't be as mad as I am now. You lied to me."

"I know, I know. I'm sorry, okay?"

"It's not okay! Why did you get the grade that you did? Every time I asked you if you were working on it, you said yes."

"It was just so stupid. We've learned the same stuff since elementary school."

"Then you should know the material just fine."

Roland rolled his eyes. "It's just History."

"History is important; all your classes are. Even if the subject isn't your favorite, you still need to take it seriously." She saw another eye roll. "I'm serious, Roland! You're a junior, you're going to be getting into college soon…"

"Not this speech again," he muttered under his breath, though not enough so his mother didn't hear him.

"Yes, we're having this speech again. Your mother and I went through all this with your older brother."

"Golden boy…"

"I'm not trying to compare you to Henry."

"Whatever."

Regina drew a deep breath. "Alright, that's it. We don't ground for bad grades, because usually they're a result of not getting the material and all of you are more than willing to get some extra help. But in this case, you were just lazy. So, if you didn't want to do your homework, then you don't get to do anything fun. No dates with Lily, no car unless you're driving you and your sister to school…"

"Wait…what?!" Roland was silenced by a hand.

"You come straight home and either your mother or I will be checking your homework every night."

"You have got to be kidding me! For how long?"

"I don't know. I'll talk with Mama."

"This is so ridiculous!"

"No, it's fair." Regina turned to start on dinner.

"You are like the worst mother in the world."

With that, the teen stormed up the stairs, slamming the door shut behind him. He could hear threats of having it taken off the hinges, but he just ignored it. Grabbing his guitar, he sat on his bed and pouted while he played. He knew he was wrong for lying, but it all seemed so extreme!

He was left alone for a couple of hours until there was a knock. He called the person in and it turned out to be Emma.

"Hey, kid."

Roland barely looked up. "Hey."

She walked over, sitting beside him. "New song?"

"It's called I Hate My Mom."

Emma laughed, shaking her head. "Come on, you know you were wrong to lie to us."

"I knew you'd be mad."

"Well, yeah, we'd be upset. Especially since you only didn't work very hard on it because you were lazy."

"I wasn't lazy. It just wasn't worth my time."

"Yet, you have no issue doing any assignments you get in English, even if it's a book you already read…"

"Well…"

"Or in music class. Your teacher could have you rehearsing a song you hate, but you still do it. Because you love those classes."

"Is there something wrong with that?"

"Not with having favorite classes, but you have to put effort into everything you do." Emma spotted an eye roll. "Alright, let's look at it this way. I hate paperwork, I detest it. As sheriff, I have more than any of the other officers. I still have to do it and give it my all, because without it, the town is screwed."

"Me not putting a lot of effort into my project won't lead to the town going to shit."

"No, but it sets yourself up for failure."

Roland just rolled his eyes again. Emma knew she wasn't going to get anywhere with him, she had been the same way at his age. She knew he was smart, if he had even put in 50% more effort than he had, he would've gotten a decent grade. But, lectures wouldn't work. He'd just have to learn hard life lessons, one way or another.

"Alright, well your mom made fish for dinner," Emma wrinkled her nose. "Do you want to go to the diner with me, get some burgers?"

"I'd rather choke on dirt."

Emma pursed her lips. She knew he was mad and was getting older, but normally food was his secret language (it worked on all her kids). She was beginning to realize, perhaps that didn't even work anymore. So, she got up and left him to hating his life.

The next day, Roland was still peeved about everything. He didn't say anything as he drove his younger sister to school, barely letting her yell her goodbyes as he sped off to the high school. He didn't see Lily or any of his friends the first couple of periods, but he had a free right before lunch, as did his girlfriend. He met up with her in their usual spot at the back of the library. Lily was looking a little bummed out.

"You okay?" Roland asked, forgetting about his own problems for a minute.

"Yeah, uh, fine." She shut the book she had been flipping through and pushed it to the side.

"I know you, you're not."

"I am."

"Lilith Marie," Roland said, using the full name she hated.

Lily's eyes narrowed. "Roland John."

"I could just be super annoying until you tell me." When his girlfriend still said nothing, he began to make the low pitch dog whistle that he used on the family's pit bull, Ohana.

"Alright, alright you freak," Lily smacked his arm and he smirked, stopping. "I just got a call from my other mom." Like Roland, she had two mothers. He had never met the one that lived states away, just Mal, since she had moved back to Storybrooke with the teen. "You know how I was supposed to go to New Mexico with her for spring break?"

"Yeah, it's all you've been talking about for weeks."

"Looks like her new girlfriend is taking my spot."

Roland cringed. "I'm sorry, babe." He knew that Lily and Ursula had a weird relationship. When her mothers decided to have a baby, they used a sperm donor. Ursula hadn't wanted to get pregnant, so Mal was the one to. Growing up, Lily had always been closer to Mal, but it wasn't because she had given birth to her. It seemed that Ursula had struggled with raising a child that wasn't biologically hers. After the divorce, she let Mal obtain full custody and there they were.

"I just miss her. And it's weird, because we weren't close. But for 15 years, she was always there, we did do some stuff together when I was little. Now, it's like she doesn't even want to spend time with me."

Suddenly, Roland felt a sudden twinge of guilt for denying Emma that Granny's run. He was in trouble and she was trying to be nice to him. Yes, he was still a little upset that he backed up his other mom, but that didn't mean anything.

"When I got older," Lily continued, tracing her fingers along the cover of a book. "I used to get into trouble, just so she'd punish me. Because whenever my other mom punishes me, it's because she loves me and I know that. But, nothing. I could probably not do my homework for a year and Ursula would just roll her eyes and keep going."

More guilt.

Roland sighed. He knew how lucky he was to have two moms that cared about him. He was lucky to have biological parents that picked two loving and caring women to care for them in the unlikely (which turned likely) event of their death. They had never treated him less than, just because he was adopted or because they didn't get to raise him for 2 years. They loved him the same as Henry and Penelope, whom they adopted as infants. He didn't make things easy a lot of the time, either. He was having a lot of confusion and feelings about his birth parents. He couldn't remember them, but unlike his siblings, he couldn't go find them if he really wanted to. They were dead.

But, he did have two parents that loved him more than anything and he had to start realizing that more. Yes, he had been dealt a crappy hand when he was little, but that was fixed. Lily's issues with her other mother probably would never be unless Ursula went through some kind of personality transfer.

He listened to the rest of Lily's rant, though he didn't have much advice to offer. She didn't really want any as it was, she just didn't needed someone who would listen. After school, he picked up Penelope and took her home, as promised, getting started on his homework.

Emma and Regina came home that night, going about their evening. Both kids didn't come out of their respective rooms until dinner. Surprisingly, Roland was first. They both assumed he would refuse to eat with them like he had at breakfast. And yet, he gave them each a hug before sitting down. Emma eyed him suspiciously as she hugged him back.

"You okay, kid?"

"Yeah…just thanks…for being there."

"Anytime, bud."

Regina kissed the top of his head. "We love you."

"I love you guys, too."

Penelope walked in. "Why are the three of you hugging like that? Are we finally selling Roland?"

The teen rolled his eyes. "You would never get that lucky, sis."
