"What do you truly know?"
The voice was soft, and feminine. It had an erotic, foreign accent, one that spoke to the deepest feelings in Laura's bones and muscles. It tugged at the blood that ran through her veins, at the rhythm of her heart.
"I-I know what I am." Laura's stern, yet shaky reply came in return. She stuttered, unsure of what this woman wanted from her.
"Do you?"
Laura stared at her, the woman's dark hair falling over her startlingly green eyes.
"Do you truly know, who you are?"
"Y-Yes." Laura stuttered.
"No." The female returned, so quickly that it seemed almost as if she had interrupted Laura. "You only know what you have been told."
"Is that not good enough?" Laura asked, slightly more hostile, but still entranced.
"How do you know she did not lie to you?" The woman asked, tracing a stripe of dark green in her hair with one of her cold, sharp fingernails.
"Because I trust her." Laura returned.
"On what basis?" The woman asked, taking bold steps forward and looking Laura in her brown eyes. The woman licked her lips and stared Laura down. "You only know what she has told you. You do not know what is true, and what is false."
Laura was at a loss for words.
"Come with me, X-23, and I will show you truth."
The woman placed a cold hand on Laura's bare skin and the clone shivered. "What about her? What about what she has told me? Why should I believe you over her?"
The woman with the green eyes licked her lips again and smiled, an evil glint in her eyes.
"Oh my dear clone," she whispered. "There are so many things I could tell you about Agent Rogue."
