Flashback four years earlier Mystic Falls

"They're doing it again." Kol said as he and Rebekah watched Klaus and Elena walk in the house screaming at the top of eachothers lungs. "You know I used to like all the fighting sinse Nik always end up miserably in pain sleeping on the couch." Bekah stated rubbing her temples. "And now?" "It's boring Kol, all they fight over is Damon Salvatore."

"Klaus you are insane! Damon was not tying to seduce me." "Oh really, so lightly gliding my hand down to your waist pulling you close enough to talk in your ear where that spot behind your ear happens to be and I'm sure he knows seeing as he is your ex you'll be on your back in seconds if he treats it just right."

"You really thought I would let you leave Elena?" He growled and punched a hole in the wall next to her head. "Remember, till death do us part." Klaus then bit her hand leaving a hybrid bite "No!" Elena gasped.

Present time four years later James birthday party New Orleans

Happy Birthday to you, happy birthday to you! everyone sang as Elijah brought out a specially two layered Batman cake that Klaus ordered. Which of coarse was way too much cake for an already over energetic soon to be five year old. Elena couldn't help but smile as she saw James eyes light up at the sight of the cake.

"Happy Birthday James. Make a wish." Klaus said from behind him. James took a deep breath and blew out all the candles in one breath. "Yeah! Good job" Elena said taking pictures. "Now come take a picture with Mommy and Daddy." "But I want cake!" "Take the picture then you can have some." "Fine." James agreed.

Elena gave the camera to Rebekah and picked James up, and stood next to Klaus allowing him to wrap his arm around her waist for the first time in four what is now five years since James is five.

As soon as his hand grazed her lower back Elena tensed so Klaus pulls away after the picture, but pulls her to the side after she puts the birthday boy down. "Go find Uncle Kol to get you some cake, while I talk to Mommy." "What do you want Klaus?"

"Do you really think that we should put on this charade for James? If you're going to tense up like that each time I touch you I'm not doing it." "Klaus I'm fine. See, watch." Elena said taking his hand to wrap around her where she was pressed to his chest. Causing Elena to gasp. "You gasped Elena."

"What do you expect from me Klaus? We fought for months and you bit me. Waiting until the last second to give me your blood." "I remember and I promise you it wasn't my best decision, but I won't apologize for it." "I never said I was expecting you to. I'll try to limit my reactions to your touch." Elena said and went to sit on the patio.

"Would you like some company?" A voice said standing next to her. "If I said no would that stop you?" "No, probably not." Elijah said. "I thought you always abide by peoples wishes." Elena said. "I do you need to be told a few things." "Like what?" She asked curious.

"Like the charade Niklaus and you are putting on. It might seem like a good idea but what happens tomorrow when James asks why you're leaving." Elena almost wanted to cry when she actually heard what she was doing explained back to her. "I'll be back." Elena said and disappeared in to the night.

"Where is she Elijah!" Klaus yelled pulling him into a room upstairs. "What are you talking about?" "Elena. I saw her go on the patio and you follow her and you've come in but she hasn't." "I don't know where she went all she said was I'll be back then ran off." "what'd you say to her." "Just you and her pretending for James will only end up hurting him."

"I'll find her." Klaus said disappearing as quick as Elena. "Klaus its your son's birthday!" "And his mother isn't here because of you so I'm fixing it." Klaus had checked all bars within a two mile distance but came up with nothing. That was until he saw someone in the park that was in front of him. "You always did like laying on your back." He said with a chuckle from behind her.

"Shut up Klaus." Elena said with a small giggle. "I got you to giggle that means you don't completely hate me." Klaus said laying next to her staring up at the stars. "Why are you here Klaus?" "Well when I saw only Elijah come in and you never did, I got worried." "Yeah right. Jealousy isn't your most attractive side." "Then please do tell me what is." Klaus said with his cocky smirk.

Elena turned her head towards him and smiled. "You really want to know?" "I need to know." "Ok then the most attractive side of Niklaus Mikaelson is." Then she ran off before she could finish. "ELENA!" Klaus screamed running after her. She was about to make it to the end of the park when arms grabbed her and tackled to the ground. "Now I believe there is a sentence you need to finish, or I won't let you up and you know children come to this park love so there parents might not approve of our position."

"Let me guess you approve." "Well Of coarse." Elena rolled her eyes and said your most attractive side is the side you only let me see. Gentle and playful." "Well trust me love there is no one else who will ever see those sides." Klaus said giving her a kiss. Elena pulled back though and said "We should get back before James starts asking for us." Klaus agreed and got off Elena. They walked back to Klaus' in silence except for Klaus' few attempt to finish their kiss.

"I told you they would be back together by the end of the night." Rebekah said standing next to Elijah as Klaus and Elena walked in with smiles on their faces. "The nights not over yet sister." "Yes it is, they are so back together." Rebekah said as Kol walked up to them and watched James run into Klaus' arms with a big grin.

Two hours later

Klaus and Elena were busy playing with James' new toy racetrack he got making him laugh like crazy.

"I believe you owe me twenty dollars." Rebekah said next to Elijah. He growled and gave her a twenty from his wallet.
