To Phantasma'sRose I haven't read John Greene but I know how popular he is so that was a real great compliment to me I hope one day I could be as popular as he is. So here's another chapter for you lovely people. As always please read and review.

La Juive

Jennifer woke up feeling slightly upbeat and looking forward to a normal day. Today was the premiere of the Juive so they only had to work half a day only preparing breakfast and lunch, since the performers would get their own dinner after the show. She looked forward to the break and knew she wanted to go get some drinks at O'Malley's and enjoy herself.

After cleaning up and getting dressed she headed into the kitchens. She walked in and was surprised to find most of her staff already working.

"To what do I owe this great pleasure?"

"Well since today is a half day for us we thought that we would come in early and get the work done so we can head out as soon as lunch service is over and go to O'Malley's Pub."

"You read my mind I think O'Malley's is a good plan and I'm grateful you guys came in early. So let's get the work done and we'll go have some fun."

Breakfast was mixed, porridge and coffee for the backstage staff so they had the energy to get props and backgrounds set up, while it was bread, cheese and fruit for the performers who needed to move about on stage with out feeling sluggish. Jen and the boys chose porridge and coffee for themselves in order to get everything done on time. Lunch was quickly made a squash soup with baguettes and cheese since the temperatures had begun to drop quickly now it was getting close to winter, she felt the warm soup would be appreciated by all.

"Chef I want to thank you for helping me with the Platina/Claire situation."

"Don't worry about it I only did what was right. Platina is a good friend of mine and I know how much you care for her."

"I do love her greatly and soon hope to marry her."

"I look forward to that day. She'll make a beautiful bride."

"She will be the most beautiful bride ever."

Jennifer smiled knowing how much Lucian loved Platina. "Let's get started on the appetizers and you'll be able to go and see her unless you're coming to the bar with us later."

"I will visit her then meet everyone at the bar later on."

"Sounds like a good plan."

The appetizers got done and placed in the dancer's and singer's foyers for both the singers and dancers an their guest. After clean-up everyone headed to the bar.

Raoul couldn't wait to see Christine after two long days of being away from her he was in a dither. While he had wanted to stay and not go on his trip he knew he couldn't tell her for risk of her disappearing again. He was a bit panicked when he didn't receive her letter on time so he visited Mama Valerius only to find out Christine was with her angel of music. He supposed Mama Valerius informed him of it as though he should feel relieved but it only agitated him even more. So he's spent the last two days wearing a hole through the floor in his foyer waiting for her return. When he finally received word she was performing in tonight's opening of the Juive he almost cried from relief of knowing she was back and he could ask her for her whereabouts the last two days.

The curtain raised and he watched the performance nonchalantly the other dancers and singers barely holding his attention and the story eluded him because it was only Christine he could think about. He wanted, no needed to see her, to see her long blonde mane and big blue eyes and to hold her in his arms once again. Nothing else mattered save for her. Finally she was on stage her dress hugged her curves in a way he wished he could hug her so many a lonely night. Her hair shone like the sun and she sang like a seraphim and he knew she sang for him. He could feel her love for him radiated through her voice.

He was so engrossed in the splendor that is Christine that when he first heard a voice in his private box he assumed it was a concierge.

"I do not require anything thank you."

He returned his attention to the stage except now he heard a small chuckle near his ear causing him to turn yet no one was near him. When he turned his attention back to the stage he could hear a man's voice clearly in his ear as though the person was standing right next to him yet he knew no one was present in his box. However even that wasn't as disturbing as what the disembodied voice spoke of.

"She is wearing the ring again tonight, and you did not give it to her. She gave her soul again tonight and did not give it to you... If she will not tell you what she has been doing the past two days... you must go and ask Erik!"

Raoul at once knew this had to be Erik and so he got up and attempted futilely to uncover where the voice was coming from. He heard another malicious laugh that seemed if it was coming from all sides and then it was silent. After he gave up his search and say down he was grateful that his brother Philippe was not there or else he would have thought him mad for searching for a person that wasn't there. In fact he would have thought himself mad if it weren't for hearing the same voice in Christine's dressing room months before. Now he definitely needed to know what happened to Christine these past two days.

O'Malley's was surprisingly packed but they did manage to get a table in the back. Thomas came over to take the drink orders and was given a hug and kiss on the cheek before being teased by the other guys as the older man blushed and headed back to the bar with a small spring in his step. As before Jennifer got some stares but most were regulars who knew her from previous occasions so they just went back to their drinking.

The table started with a round of strong whiskey as well as some jokes told all around. The men quickly agreed that Jennifer's was the dirtiest. It seemed being from the future had its advantages.

Erik traveled down to his lair even more upset than he had been when Christine had walked into his lair two days ago. Not only was this insolent boy attempting to ruin everything by thinking of staying but he also sat in his box his face smugly watching Christine as though it was for him she sang and not her angel of music. He did chuckle as he thought of Raoul's face when he threw his voice to speak in his ear and watching the fop feebly attempting to locate him. His consolation was that after all it was his ring his angel wore not that boy's. He began to work on one of the arias for Don Juan Triumphant; it would help take his mind off the two love birds upstairs.

Jennifer was genuinely having fun with her boys, however the fun couldn't last forever and soon everyone started heading to their respective beds because they had to work the next day. She knew she should have left with them but she just couldn't bring herself to head back. Lucian had wanted to stay with her but she told him he should be heading back as he had to help with the props the next morning since some of the prop guys were out sick. She took one last shot of whiskey for the road and headed out.

"Just wait lassie I'll have someone escort ye to the opera house."

"I appreciate it Thomas but I'll be fine it's a short way and I need to be alone with my thoughts, lots of planning to do for the meals."

She did want to be alone with her thought but not for planning the meals she only said that so he wouldn't realize how distraught she was. She was worried about running into Erik, she couldn't face him yet. She was still heartbroken over his last outburst. Part of her knew he was just angry and defensive but part of her worried he was being honest and he didn't want her as a friend. Her eyes started to tear up but she refused to cry in the street even if it was desolate.

The cold air stung but it also felt good it helped her to focus on pushing back the tears and getting back to the opera house and into bed. She felt exhausted and kept moving at a slow woodenly pace. Tomorrow she would get a hot bath set up so she could soak her aching body. She'd have to remind herself to grab some rosemary and sea salt from the kitchen for her bath since they haven't quite invented Epsom salts yet.

She pulled her shawl tighter around herself wishing she had her pea-coat with her as the cold air was starting to make her shiver. She didn't normally get cold since she ran hotter than most but this night was not just cold but windy with the type of wind that could permeate a person's bones. She attempted to walk a little faster hoping it would help her warm up. She was only a five blocks from the opera house and couldn't wait to get under her sheets. Her room had a small fireplace which she had always been too scared to light it but on this night she decided she just might take the risk. She was only three blocks away when she felt a hand grab her arm making her jump. She prayed when she turned it was one of her boys but when she turned that wasn't the case.
