Nathan reluctantly opened his eyes to the sunlight which leaked through his and Haley's bedroom window, trying his best not to groan.
Today would be, without-a-doubt, one of the hardest days he'd have to endure.
The NBA official training season was starting today, which meant Nathan would have to go to Charlotte for an entire month to practice with the team.
He promised Haley he'd try his best to come home on weekends so that they'd be able to spend time together. He didn't ever want to leave Haley, but unfortunately his job required it.
He knew it'd only get worse when the real season started. He'd be all over the country… and Haley would be here… at home.
At the thought, his heart actually ached. He looked down at the sleeping beauty in his arms, who had a small smile traced over her lips.
She was incredibly beautiful, and she looked so peaceful, he didn't want to wake her up. Last night, she fell asleep in his arms crying, never wanting to let him go. They had spent the past three months together, completely inseparable. He loved every second of it, but now, and they both knew it was going to be impossible to say goodbye..
Haley's job was starting tomorrow as well; she'd officially be Tree Hill High's newest English Teacher. He was incredibly proud of her. They were both following their dreams together. He just wished they didn't have to be apart for so long…
They'd make it work, though. He knew they would. He'd do anything for her.
Nathan was pulled from his endless thoughts when Haley stirred in his arms. Ever so slowly, he watched as her eyelids slowly peeled apart, exposing her plunging brown orbs, twinkling in the natural light.
"Good morning, sunshine." Nathan whispered huskily, watching as Haley yawned with a dreamy smile.
"Mornin'." She spoke groggily, running a hand through her sleep-mussed hair.
Nathan smirked at her mesmerizing beauty, as he leaned down to press a searing kiss upon her soft lips. "I love you."
Haley felt her chest constrict at his words, "I love you, too. More than you'll ever know." She whispered seductively into his ear, rolling over onto his naked chest and straddling his hips.
Nathan rested his hands behind his head, and continued to stare at Haley. He was determined to memorize every square inch of her perfect body.
"What?" Haley asked, suddenly feeling a bit self conscious by his smoldering stare.
Nathan swallowed the lump in his throat, and placed his hands on Haley's thin hips. "I'm just wondering how I got so lucky. You're beautiful, Haley James."
"Stop it!" She breathed, feeling a flaming blush paint over her cheeks.
"It's true." Nathan rasped. "Sometimes I can't even believe how sexy you are-" He continued as he began to assault her neck with butterfly kisses.
Haley sighed contently, relishing in his feel for as long as possible. She didn't want him to leave. She knew she was being selfish but she had gotten so used to him being by her side, and she hated the thought of him leaving. With that said, she knew she had to make the time they had together last for as long as possible.
"What time do you have to leave?" She asked quietly.
Nathan pulled away from her neck and nuzzled his nose under her jaw line. "I have an hour before I need to go."
Haley nodded sadly as her hold around his neck subconsciously tightened. "I'm going to miss you so much, Nathan." She whispered, unable to look him in the eye for the fear of crying again.
A month was going to feel like forever. A part of her wanted to pack up her things and go to Charlotte with him, but she knew that was irrational.
"Hey, hey. Don't cry." Nathan soothed her, sensing the glassy look in her eyes meant that she was about to cry again. "I'll be back before you know it, okay?" He promised in a hushed voice as he rubbed soothing circles on her hips.
Haley bit hard on her lower lip, and nodded, before she leaned down and attached her lips onto Nathan's, nearly sucking the life out of him.
His hands immediately began wandering south, cupping her ass, as she ran her fingers delicately through his scalp. Taking the initiative, Nathan probed his tongue through her wide open mouth, causing Haley to moan pleasurably.
He tried to control his lower anatomy but found it was virtually impossible by the way she was writing on his body.
"Hales…" Nathan reluctantly pulled away. "We have to stop-"
Haley sat up on his chest, and smiled shyly. "I don't want to stop…" She whispered.
Nathan's eyes widened at her words. Did this mean she wanted…?
"Haley…" Nathan further sat up and tried to calm his ragged breathing. "We can't… I mean-"
Haley giggled at his nervous behavior as she brought her index finger up to his lips in order to shush him.
"I'm ready, Nathan." She whispered confidently. "I want you."
"A-are you sure?" He didn't mean to sound like a fifteen year old virgin, but he couldn't help it. Haley wanted to make love with him!
"Yes, I've never been more sure about anything in my life." She promised.
"But I thought you wanted to wait-" Nathan protested.
Haley rolled her eyes good naturedly. "Stop wasting time, Scott. I want you. Now." She gave him a seductive smile as she brought her hands to the bottom of her night shirt and hastily lifted it off her body, throwing it behind her, not caring where the hell it landed.
Nathan's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets when he realized that Haley wasn't wearing a bra.
"Holy shit." He muttered. "Oh wow… Are you trying to kill me?"
Haley giggled, as she swooped down and kissed Nathan again. "Is it working?"
Feeling her bare chest pressed against his own, Nathan groaned with pleasure. "Oh god, yes."
He was sure she was going to kill him… oh and what a way it would be to go.
He'd be sure to die happiest man alive.
After three rounds of passionate lovemaking, it was time for Nathan to face reality. The time was quickly approaching for him to leave. The training started at 11, and it took about three hours to drive there, so considering it was no 8 in the morning, Nathan knew he needed to get on the road.
"There's nothing I can do to get you to stay, huh?" Haley teased as she ran her hand over his chest with a playful smile.
Nathan sighed, "You have no idea how tempted I am to stay here and make love to you all day, but you know I can't."
Haley smiled sadly at his words and popped a quick kiss on his cheek. "I know, but it was worth a try."
Nathan laughed, "You're such a tease! We finally make love and now I have to leave." He pouted.
Haley giggled as she wrapped her arms around his tanned neck. "We can always have phone sex." She suggested with a sultry grin.
"Haley…" Nathan groaned, squeezing his eyes tight at the image conjuring in his head. "Who would've thought you had a naughty side to you?"
Haley laughed poking her index finger into his chest "I blame you, Scott."
"Hey, I'm not complaining. I just wish I could've stuck around to reap the benefits."
Haley flirty mood soon shifted south when he picked up his bag. "I don't want you to go."
"Believe me, baby, I don't want to go either, but if I want to spoil my girl, I have to go to work." He said with a lopsided grin.
"Spoil me?" Haley squealed excitedly.
Nathan laughed as he leaned down and hugged her enormously. "Yes spoil you, dork."
Haley's smile brightened. "I like being spoiled."
"I know you do, and that's why I want to give you a little 'going away present.'" Nathan announced as he pulled out a tiny black box from his pants pocket.
"Nathan, you didn't have to-" Haley immediately protested, only to get cut off by Nathan.
He chuckled, "Too bad, Hales, because I already did." He said with a growing smile, and opened the small box, listening as Haley gasped. "Now, it's not an engagement ring, obviously, because you know I'm going make the proposal really special, but think of it as a promise ring." Nathan explained as he showed her the silver infinity shaped ring. "I promise I'm always going to love you, forever. Always and forever, Hales, I promise you. No matter what happens. I'm going to marry you one day, Haley James, and that's a promise."
Haley was vaguely aware of the fact that single tear drop was rolling down her cheek. She didn't think it was ever possible to love someone as much as she loved Nathan Scott.
Nathan gently slid the ring onto her left ring finger and laughed when Haley jumped up into his arms and smiled against his kiss.
"I love you so much!" She swore, peppering his face with a swarm of kisses.
Nathan spun her around happily and kissed her passionately.
Haley then pulled away for a much needed breath and looked down at the ring. It was absolutely stunning!
"Baby, this is beautiful!"
"You like it?" He questioned nervously.
"I love it." Haley gushed, kissing him again. "Thank you so much."
"You're welcome." He grinned, "Now since I'm not here to ward off any creeps, you can just show them that ring so they know you're taken."
Haley rolled her eyes playfully at his chauvinistic behavior. Sometimes he was such a guy.
"Well how will those bar sluts know that you belong to me?" Haley questioned with an arched brow.
Nathan chuckled, "Don't worry, baby, I'll be sure to tell them all about my hot, sexy girlfriend at home."
Haley grinned against his lips, "Hmm, you better."
Nathan smirked again and pressed one last searing kiss upon her lips. "I love you, Haley."
"I love you, too." She sighed into his neck, desperately clinging to him as she tried to inhale his scent into her memory.
"I'll call you when I get to the hotel. Actually, I'll call you every chance I can get." He promised, dropping a small kiss in her strawberry scented hair.
"Okay." Haley mumbled. "I'll miss you,"
"I'll miss you more." Nathan said seriously. "Good luck at work tomorrow. I can't wait to hear about it."
"Thanks." Haley beamed. "Good luck with training. I wish I was there to watch."
Nathan grinned, "I'll be sure to get you front row for my home games."
Haley squealed joyfully. "I can't wait!"
"Neither can I." Nathan whispered. "I'll see you soon, beautiful."
Haley bit the inside of her cheek, and tried to hold herself together. It was just a month. They could do this.
Reluctantly, they walked outside to Nathan's car where they engaged in one last kiss, neither of them wanting to ever pull away.
"If we don't stop, I'll never get there in time." Nathan swore as he ran a hand through his raven black hair.
Haley laughed, "I know, I know. Go be great, and call me later!"
Nathan hopped into the driver seat and smiled at her through the window. "Bye baby!"
Haley sighed, watching him speed down the street, but smiled when she looked down at her infinity ring.
Everything was going to be okay.
I'm sorry that it's so short but I wanted to update today and felt like this was a good place to split the original two chapters (I didn't finish the other part, so if I didn't update tonight, it would take longer to finish). The next chapter will hopefully be up on Tuesday, and it'll be a continuation of this chapter. You'll get to see Nathan and Haley try and work their relationship long distance, and there will be some more Brooke/Lydia/Deb action. How will they act when they find out Haley has a promise ring? Find out soon ;)

ps- Sorry I didn't really write Naley's 'first time', I'm just soo bad at writing smut and I didn't want to ruin the chapter. Just know that it was gentle, and perfect, and I'm sure all your dirty minds can figure it out hahaa
