The Frustration Compulsion: Chapter 37
Could there be any bigger news?
*a/n Hey guys, I'm sorry this chapter took 800 years, my computer croaked and after waiting to have it get fixed, I now have to find alternative solutions to write. The next chapter won't take so long to post, I promise. This chapter is kinda short and sorta has some of my frustrations in it from the finale, so if you haven't seen it, there's some slight spoilers in here…
Anyways, thank you for all the lovely reviews, and if you're still with me on this, let me know what you think of this chapter and don't be afraid to give suggestions :D
Until next time!~
Previously…
"You're really sure about this, aren't you?"
"Have I ever been known to lie to you?" That was true. The best thing they had between them was trust; she could always count on him to tell her the truth.
"I guess not." Before either of them could do or say anything else, the back door in which they had exited opened, revealing Mary and Pastor Mat in the doorway.
"Guess who just booked the wedding reception?!"
Currently…
Sheldon looked nervously from Amy to his mother and back. While Mary seemed to be radiating nothing but positive energy, he could not read Amy's emotions no matter how hard he tried. He so desperately wanted to know what she thought that he feared it would essentially drive him crazy.
Her arms weren't crossed; they simply hung rather limply at her sides. Her posture was the same as always, her eyes just as soft as they had been a moment ago. The small smile she had dancing on her lips while they were talking hadn't vanished…
But when he looked closely, he saw her try to wipe off her sweaty hands on her skirt as if it didn't mean a thing. He always had trouble reading people, but with Amy, it almost came naturally.
She was nervous.
So what was he supposed to do about it? What kind of support could he offer her to help her find her voice in this kind of situation?
Almost as if on impulse, Sheldon quickly slid his hand into hers, squeezing it gently. He was right, her hands were sweaty, but he felt rather than saw her relax, so he figured it must've helped. And in a moment, Amy was all smiles, easily taking his breath away.
"Thank you so much Mary!" and the elder had no such trouble accepting the praise; her grin growing two times its size. Before Sheldon and Amy knew it, they were getting motioned back into the church, so much for their talk outside.

…Something didn't quite feel right…
For some unknown reason, the fact that Amy hadn't shared the news with any of their friends was starting to get to him. True, he hadn't told anybody either, but she always told at least Penny whenever something exciting happened in her life. Was this not one of those things?
Amy was in the middle of the isle next to Mary, half-heartedly comparing color swatches for something or another regarding their wedding. Regardless of whatever Mary thought, this wedding was not going to be planned in literally two days. The things she dragged his fiancé into doing…
But Sheldon was getting restless. They hadn't yet discussed the topic of sharing their news with their friends, but that didn't mean he didn't want to. He wanted Amy to be able to look their friends in the eyes, and tell them about one of the biggest things happening to her. She deserved that much at least.
Pacing seemed to be the only solution at the moment, so Sheldon began doing so, walking down the isle behind the two women who were seemingly oblivious to his actions. That was until Amy stopped him by grabbing his hand while Mary had taken it upon herself to ask a store clerk some question that Amy didn't even know.
"Amy, I have to be honest, I don't really want to be here." And he could tell that she wasn't having the best of times either. He knew his pleading was getting to her, but she was just too nice of a person to ditch his mother like that.
"You are not going to make me do all this wedding work by myself when we get back home Sheldon." Although he could see why she would think he would do that, he had to disagree with her then. Of course he wouldn't make her do all the work herself, scientists didn't do that.
And to help make his point, he grabbed her hand and began playing with hr fingers gently. For some odd reason it helped him concentrate.
"Now Amy, why would I do that? It's my wedding too, of course I wouldn't make you do all the work. You shouldn't have to anyway, it's your special day and I'm going to make it perfect for you." As he talked, Amy noticed how intense his gaze was on her. It didn't take long for her heart to speed up in her chest, but just as quickly as he grabbed her hand, he let go.
"Thank you, Sheldon." Amy granted, thinking it was the least she could do. And as they stood next to each other, Sheldon couldn't help but inch a little closer to her and surprise her with a gentle embrace. Sometimes he really did treat her like she was the most fragile thing on the planet.
With Amy pressed up against him, Sheldon could feel the unsteady rise and fall of her chest with each shaky breath she took. She was strangely cold and ended up shivering in his arms, so he pulled her closer. They remained that way until Mary returned; several more color swatches in her hands.

For a time, Sheldon's worries about his life back in Pasadena vanished. Amy seemed happy enough, so he let the topic of discussion go for the time being. Unfortunately, it seemed to be the big elephant in the room once he was left alone with her for a late afternoon tea while MeeMaw and Mary napped.
Due to her insistence, Sheldon sat back and observed while she prepared their tea. He couldn't deny he was a very observant person at times, but sometimes the extent of his thoughts surprised him to no end.
It started when his eyes were locked onto hers. It wasn't terribly hard to notice the radiant happiness her eyes shone whenever she was around him. Just by looking into them he could tell just how full of life she was- and he loved it.
And her cheeks, they were so smooth and scrunched up perfectly whenever she grinned real big. Her smile was enough to make him feel amazing all over, and at that moment, he let himself completely go. It was all or nothing.
So when she brought him his tea, he set it on the table and stood up. She seemed puzzled for a moment, but fairly quickly followed suit, and he took her hands in his.
"Are you excited?" The sparkle in her eyes told him all he needed to know. And for a moment, he wished nothing more than to have that day upon them, so he could take her in his arms in front of all the people he loved most, and prove to her just how much he loved her. It was going to be absolutely perfect.
He watched as she slowly nodded and licked her lips. A chuckle escaped his lips when he realized that her gaze was on his lips. It was cute when she asked for permission to kiss him like that.
And while their lips were pressed together gently, he couldn't help but smile into the kiss and exhale softly. He felt Amy shift against him and he held onto her hips more firmly, almost as if fearing she would float away if he didn't.
Never in his life had Sheldon felt so much love and compassion for someone in his whole life. And when she pulled back for air, he stole one more peck before pressing his forehead to hers.
Her breathing was soft, his was too. The smile she gave him made his knees go weak, and there they stood, just completely lost in each other's eyes.
And from just around the corner, a pair of watching eyes began to water a little. These two were the best thing to ever happen to each other, and it was purely amazing. MeeMaw stifled a sniffle as she took another quick peak, but her smile was a mile long.
Sheldon was not ashamed at all when he and Amy had been interrupted by MeeMaw. He loved MeeMaw, and she loved Amy, so what did he have to be ashamed about? It was the greatest thing to happen since the invention of the train.
For a moment nobody moved or said anything, afraid to disrupt the perfect peace they had going for them. It wasn't long for Amy's phone to ring, and just as Sheldon had been expecting, it was from Penny.
All she did was glance at Sheldon before leaving the room to answer her call. Oh, how he missed her so, even if she was only in the room next door.
And surprisingly, she was only gone for exactly one minute and thirty seconds. He had counted. And when she came back, the way she pursed her lips and furrowed her brow had Sheldon slipping his hand back into hers. Both he and MeeMaw waited in anticipation for her to speak, to say something, anything.
"Penny's engaged."
#
Sheldon had had enough of Penny's rambling for the night, and as much as he loved talking to his friends, he chose to retire to bed much later than he had anticipated. He didn't bother interrupting Amy to give her a good night kiss. He was just that tired.
The fact that she hadn't told a single soul outside of his family about their engagement seemed unbelievable. But then again, he could understand why she did so. Wouldn't want to take Leonard and Penny's spot light…
But still, this was supposed to be their perfect trip, Amy had said so herself. And to repay her, Sheldon had the best of the best thing planned for the following day, their last day in Texas. If he ever got to bed that was.
This was completely illogical. He was so tired, so, so tired. Yet, where was this sleep that he desired more than most things at that moment? For then, all he could think about was the fact that Amy wasn't by his side.
And he'd sworn he was hallucinating when he had seen her walk through his door, making his thoughts a reality.
But she didn't speak. She didn't even make a sound. Still air remained in between them both, and the quiet never seemed louder to Sheldon in his whole life.
He wished she'd say something. He never quite understood why she wanted to preserve the silence between them, he loved hearing her voice. But what he loved even more than that was when she slid in the bed beside him.
Sleep had never felt so good.
