Here we go…
Reseme stood there for a second playing the words over and over again in her head. No matter how many times she repeated them they didn't change. It was always the same three words. Merlin's voice attached to them. She didn't know what to think. It confused her, to know that no matter how mad Merlin got at her his feelings for her were still strong. She turned back seeing Merlin was in a deep drunken sleep. After making sure he was okay she left.
Reseme was sitting at the dining table drinking a tea while staring aimlessly replaying all the moments she could think of that would indicate that Merlin actually loved her… there was the night during the ball, there was the night at the lake, there was also the fact he kissed her after making it clear he didn't want her with anyone else. Reseme had spent so long pushing away anything more than friendship with Merlin away…could he actually want that himself. The thought made her panicky and nervous. She had joked with him about relationships sure but would he actually want one? With her of all people!
She was so deep in her thoughts she didn't even notice Gaius walk through the door. He saw her sitting there and immediately felt concern. Her face was so intense as though something were wrong. He felt concern as he sat down across from her placing a hand on her shoulder. "Reseme?" There was a slight twitch as she looked up confused as who could be talking to her. "Are you alright?" She looked at him as though she didn't quite understand him. Her green eyes almost seemed to glow in the moonlight.
She pulled on the slightest smile. "Yes, Gaius I'm fine. I just couldn't move from my seat. So tired I suppose. So, how did the birth go? She's fine right? Healthy baby?" Reseme had a hand in helping to take care of the patient Gaius had visited and had actually made plenty of visits to see the women herself.
Gaius smiled loving the part of Reseme who cared so deeply for their clients. It was one of the very strong differences in her and Merlin. Merlin had no desire to be a physician while Reseme loved it. Not to mention she was good at it. "Everyone is fine. The tonic you gave her last week actually helped to make the entire process easier. Not to mention it delayed the birth helping to give the baby more time to grow. You saved that infants life Reseme, you should be proud." She smiled brightly glad to have been of service.
"Can we see her soon?" He nodded before pointing towards her room.
"I will be checking on her tomorrow, you can come as long as you march to bed and get yourself some sleep young lady." She rolled her eyes but did listen to her guardian.
"Goodnight Gaius."
"Goodnight Reseme."
