Thank you to my wonderful beta, Stella!
"Chiyoko, I really appreciate you taking me out and everything, but don't you think this is a little much?!" Kagome shrieked, her arms filled with a pile of fine silks and accessories.
"Nonsense! If you are to be courting my son, then you shall dress in nothing but the best. Besides, he'll appreciate you so much more!"
Kagome couldn't argue her point on that. He did like the more traditional side, after all.
"That's true... but I couldn't accept all of this from you! I would never be able to pay you back."
"You're keeping my son in good spirits, are you not?"
Kagome scowled.
"Yeah, I guess..."
"Then that is payment enough! Now come along, little one, we must find the obi to match these Kimono!"
Kagome sighed, following the eccentric woman.
Sesshomaru walked into his home, expecting a warm dinner and tea awaiting him, as Kagome would usually prepare. He was surprised to find half-cooked rice still in the cooker, and a cutting board of vegetables sitting on the counter.
Taking a look around the apartment, he caught the scent of his mother. Putting two and two together, he surmised his mother must have abducted the poor girl into one of her "shopping fits."
He felt a little more at ease, knowing that his mother had approved of his and Kagome's courting. It would definitely make his life easier.
Hearing the shuffling of feet approaching his door, he prepared himself for the haul that would be entering in just a few short moments.
Sure enough, the door burst open. A mountain of shopping bags walked into the house, plopping themselves on the floor immediatly to the left. A raven haired figure emerged from them, her face red from the heavy weight.
"Your... mother... is... insane!" Kagome huffed, trying to catch her breath. Chuckling, Sesshomaru walked to help her carry the bags to their room.
"This one fears she will be even more present then ever before." He placed a soft kiss to her cheek, enjoying the pink hue adorning her face.
"Oh dear, is that any way to talk of your dear old mother? How rude!" Chiyoko purred, seemingly gliding into the room with only a bag in each hand.
"Exactly how is it that you only managed to get two bags, and I got all the rest of them?!" Kagome scowled, turning her lip at the older woman.
"I have graciously purchased an entire wardrobe for you, little one, the least you can do is carry them in!" She smiled, shutting the door behind her and making to the couch. "Now tell me, girl, what shall you be preparing for dinner?"
"D-dinner?" Kagome stuttered, turning her head to the rice-cooker and gulping. "I was cooking it earlier, until..."
As if sensing her distress, Sesshomaru emerged into the room, hanging the house phone back onto the receiver.
"Dinner has been ordered." He replied, turning to Kagome.
"I thought you only liked home-cooked meals?" Kagome questioned, going to join Chiyoko on the couch.
"While this Sesshomaru appreciates the effort put into a traditional style meal... he is also appreciative of the convenience of take out."
