Kenshin: Well, back to this.

Yusei: We thank everyone for coming back to this story, whether you're… wait, I think I did this speech. Oh well; whether you're new readers, old readers who wish to see the conclusion, or you submitted an oc and want to know what happens to them.

Morrigan: TCM tried to write the chapter for this, but because of military/school obligations the chapter was put up on the fanfiction site and expired before we could finish it. And since we forgot what it was about he had to rewrite it from scratch. But it's fine. At least it gives us a break from My Hero Academia fics and rabbits in cakes!

Yusei: That's not his name.

Morrigan: I don't give a fuck! My heart is nothing more than malice, and I will express everything he-*gets pushed away by Yusei*

Yusei: Yeah, you can't do these chapters either. Anyway, last time Demise destroys three duelists at once while the others go in to save the world. Demise and Malicious duel against Jeff and Emblem, or it just started.

Chapter XXXVIII: Light-Imprisoning Mirror

Galaxy-Eyes drags Madas, Takeshi, Alexianna, Chase and Rex into the dark bastion. The galactic dragon comes up to the tower and blows a hole in, before dropping down inside. Once there in the midst of the castle, the dragon releases everyone.

Madas jumps off and looks around. "Is everyone okay?" he asks, his dragon disappearing.

Rex storms up and grabs his shoulder. "What was that about? We just left the others behind!"

"We have to let them handle this while we go save the others. Just have faith in them," he says, looking over back at the others.

Takeshi pulls him back lightly. With a nod he says, "Rex, it's okay. They need us to power their plan, so they won't kill us. The worst case scenario is they'll lose a duel and be sent in here."

"That still doesn't make it better," adds Chase with his arms up and about. "We need to get going."

The five then make their way through the hollow castle, not sure of where to exactly go. Crossing the inner roads, Takeshi comes to a stop when he hears something. "Hm?" He looks down to a set of stairs, before going towards them.

"Takeshi, where are you going?" asks Chase.

"Milla is here. She's just down these steps." He then turns to Rex, ignoring the dark look given to him by Alexianna.

"How do you know that?" asks the others.

"I still have a contract with her, so we can share our thoughts."

Alexianna sighs with a solemn agreement. "Rex, I need you to go down there and set her free."

The Dark World user gives him the look, that look one gives when they feel superfluous. "Why the hell am I going?"

"Because she'll just say a bunch of things to me and I won't wanna hear it. Even now she's in my head cursing." The answer to his question is kind of different than what he expected. Yet at the same time, it's a believable one considering the situation between him and Alexianna. "Is that okay?"

He scuffs. "Sure. Can't be picky with the help we need." He heads down the steps.

"I'll go with you," Chase says, following after him.

After two of their friends go off on this side mission, the other three focus their attention up ahead. The red carpeted road called the hallway seems to be guiding them, the way optical illusions trick the careless.

It brings them to twin green, hexagonal doors the size of the many dragons they summon, or at least Starve Venom in this case. Luckily there's a tiny slit opening just big enough for them to pass through, probably for smaller people. That is where Madas opens the door, and looks inside to his own amazement. And terror. This is because Takeshi and Alexianna have the same reaction upon entering.

"Mon dieu…we found them," speaks Alexianna, tears welling up in her eyes.

"The other students…" They stand in a room lit by the dark green of Momentum. In pods lined along the walls are every single student who have lost to the forces of Amne and have become entrapped in its walls. Each of them wear the Duelmets connected to the walls' inner circuitry, leading up to the coning ceiling.

"Hiyori…" Alexianna immediately looks for the person she saw lose before her very eyes, and finds her. The dragon ruler like the others is unconscious, providing energy to the helmets.

"Rose…" Madas finds the Zombie user who was friends with himself and Anna.

"Hey, look at that." Takeshi points to Ken and Malinda, who were just outside. "They lost too…"

"Well now that we're here, let's set them free!" Madas steps forward pulling out a card.

"You will stay your hand, or shall you risk the band?" speaks a fourth person behind them. All three turn to see with shock the Queen of Oblivion, Ruin. This Horseman of Famine raises her scepter and aims it at the egoist. "Tis not the right zest, less death falls arrest."

"What?" This is unison between Takeshi and Alexianna.

"You cannot break free your friends. The Duelmets trap them til the world rends, without my staff with which time bends."

"Then that'll be our means to an ends," Takeshi says, before flinching while his friends stare. "Yeah, realized it when I finished."

"I got this," says Madas as he walks forward to the silver haired beauty. "You will face the beat all, the lethal, the plead all MADAS Elvin!" He says this as he poses.

"That made less sense than her Shakespearean rhyming," Alexianna mutters. The taciturn goggle boy remains silent, but worries. This is just like when Madas first dueled Messiah.

Ruin gains this delectable smile. "Sadly despite your gods, this is all you have from your mods. For if Odin thinks pride and love evens odds, I shall escort the first myself into pods!" She raises her scepter, concealing them in a gray shade.

"Madas, be careful! She's one of the Horsemen for a reason!" says Alexianna.

"It'll be fine. I took down Messiah, so I got this lady." He activates his duel disk.

"Do your best and truly soon," Ruin summons a duel disk made of blue energy from her very arm, "for I am languid of patience to you buffoon. And of rhyming."

Ruin: 4000

Madas: 4000

…

A circle opens up in the skies entering Yami, drawn by the arc of a pendulum. From it appear Lucas and Luna, the Black Sun and White Moon of their respective regions. The two rulers step into the darkness of the land within their armor, as Hisoka the Dark Magician descends.

"They finally opened it," Lucas says with an overjoyed sneer. He clenches his fists and then rushes forward. "Those guys are already here; let's provide support!"

Hisoka watches him leave. "Should we let him leave?"

"No, but he's a big boy."

"I heard that Artemis!"

"Don't call me that," she speaks, almost losing her composure there.

…

"DUEL!"

Malicious: 4000

Emblem: 4000

"I'll start this fight. I'll set four cards in my hand facedown and end my turn." 'Now, attack me if you will."

'It's a fucking trap. But, who didn't see that coming?' Emblem draws his card and reveals two from his hand. "I send Level Eater to the graveyard to special summon Quickdraw Synchron!"

Quickdraw: 700/1400 (5) Tuner

"I then revive Level Eater, by reducing Quickdraw's level by one." The tiny insect flies up devouring one of Quick's stars.

Level Eater: 600/0 (1)

"Because a monster was special summoned from the graveyard, I can special summon Doppel Warrior from my hand." A spy flies out from his hand onto his field, wielding a Tomy gun.

Doppel Warrior: 800/800 (2)

"I finally normal summon Clear Effector." His last monster is a vibrant spellcaster.

Clear Effector: 0/900 (2)

"I'll tune my two level 2 monsters with Quickdraw, who treats himself as any Synchron monster!" Quick Synchron summons a roulette, shooting down the card image of Road Synchron. He then turns into synchro rings, which pass through Effector and Doppel. "Cluster your hope together into a single road that leads to the new horizon! Synchro Summon – Road Warrior!"

Road Warrior: 3000/1500 (8)

"Because of his effect, Doppel Warrior summons two Doppel Tokens!" Two images appear resembling Doppelwarrior. "Clear Effector's effect lets me draw a card."

He draws before checking his hand. 'This gives me more options.' "I will activate Road Warrior's effect, and summon from my deck Junk Anchor!" Road Warrior sends out his road panel, and from Emblem's deck shoots out a dark blue Tuner monster.

Junk Anchor: 0/0 (2) Tuner

"I'll then tune together my four monsters!" Junk Anchor turns into synchro rings passing through Level Eater and the tokens. "Synchro Summon – Accel Synchron!" This time a crimson Synchron monster appears to the field, carrying golden synchro rings with it.

Accel: 500/2100 (5) Tuner

"I'll use Level Eater's ability to reduce Road Warrior's level," he says, summoning Level Eater from the grave by cutting down Road's level. "I then send a monster from my deck to the graveyard, Nitro Synchron, to activate Accel's effect. His level will be reduced by that monster's level."

Accel: (3)

"Road Warrior, attack him directly! Lightning Claw!" The white mecha flies forward to deal damage to the warrior.

The golden horseman holds still before blocking the attack with his duel disk. The lightning spreads along him painfully as he slides backwards, before thrusting Road Warrior back.

Malicious: 1000

"Is this really all you got? You would never have let me get a lead like this before."

"You're right. I wouldn't. Infernal Tempest activate." Malicious raises his hand, and exploding from around him a whirling tempest of flames. This spreads hitting both players. Malicious' cards fly from his deck, as does Emblem's, incinerating into nothing.

"W-What just happened?!" Emblem looks around in shock. This is not what he expected out of a Wind-Up deck. "Wasn't your deck Wind-Ups?"

The golden horseman laughs. "You assumed that my deck was a Wind-Up archetype and that I would focus on their effects. Unlike the others, I use more than one deck."

"What?!"

"I possess at least six decks, and they all hold the capability of Xyz Summoning my steed. I am the Horseman of War, and I don't play fair!" He then laughs before activating another facedown. "Graceful Tear. By handing you one card in my hand to you, I gain 2000 lifepoints."

He flings the card over to Emblem, who catches it reluctantly.

Malicious: 3000

Though looking at it, his eyes widen. 'Why did he give me this card?'

"So, you were about to end your turn?" taunts the Horseman of War.

"...I set two cards facedown and end my turn." Emblem tightens the grip on his free hand staring at his tiny deck. 'In just 14 draws I'll run out of cards…'

"Draw!" He looks at his spell card and smirks. "I activate the Rank-Up Magic – MALICE Force!"

"Malice what?" Emblem takes a moment to get a good look.

"Malice Force only activates when I have at least 10 banished monsters, and at least two or more are level 8 or higher; I special summon one Xyz Monster from my Extra Deck whose Rank equals their levels and upgrade it. Come forth!"

Slithering from Malicious' Duel Disk appears his mighty steed. "Number 92: Kigaishinryu – Heart-eartH Dragon!"

HED: 0/0 -9-

His dragon's eyes flare the color of Malicious'. "And now, I can upgrade my steed into its ultimate form!"

"Oh son of a mother-"

"Enter the Overlay Network!" The dragon spirals into the crimson/magenta sky, turning into a stream of energy. The network then explodes, filling the world around them with darkness. "Rank Up Xyz Evolution! Come out!"

Black clouds explode with lightning overhead. The dragon Heart-eartH comes out decked in gold similar to Malicious' armor. Its eyes shine red as the Shenlong sized behemoth looms down upon Emblem. "Gigaishin Bozouryu – No Heart X Dragon!"

No Heart X: 0/0 (10)

"I'll fight back by activating my own effect!" A bright field forms around Emblem in the shade of red. Accel Synchron and Road Warrior fly skyward. The synchron turns into three stars, passing over the road master and turning it into seven stars.

"What are you doing?!"

"Accel Synchron is a Synchro Tuner, with the effect to perform an Accel Synchro during your turn!" Emblem points at his field, which brings down a bright jade light that shows Emblem's monster. "Come forth, my strongest monster – Stardust Warrior!"

Appearing on the field is Emblem's strongest card, the Accel Synchro Monster Stardust Warrior. Like a Stardust monster it has the majestic wings and head most notable as part of the original Stardust Dragon. Like a Synchro Warrior monster it has the mecha design most recognize in that archetype.

Stardust Warrior: 3000/2500 (10)

"Accel Synchro? How do you have the power to do that?" Malicious glares forth at Emblem. "You need to be able to control Clear Mind in order to perform that action-"

"My adopted father is Yusei Fudo."

"Figures."

"Spiritual Art of Fire, burn him and his lifepoints!" As this was going on, Jeff gets blasted by Demise's trap card. The poor duelist screams as he is fried and transported.

As it happens, Emblem takes note, gasping. "Jeff!"

"I'll deliver a promising death to you when I'm done," speaks Malicious before pointing to his monster. "No Heart X has a special effect."

"Of course it does."

"It cannot be destroyed by battle, and any battle damage I take involving it is inflicted upon you as well. And, you cannot activate cards during the battle." The dragon makes a roar before charging its attack. "During my battle phase, I can remove one Overlay Unit, and give it another effect." Its sole unit enters its head. "I won't take battle damage from this attack, and my life increases by half."

"Crapbaskets!" Emblem runs away as Stardust Warrior prepares to block.

"Giga Earth Break Roar!" It fires a stream of flames upon Stardust Warrior, which blasts the defending monster. The flames circle around and burn into Emblem's back sending him hurtling to the ground.

Emblem: 1500

"Emblem!" shouts Emily to her brother.

Malicious: 4500

"I'll set this fearful card facedown, and end my turn." The disheartened duelist watches as Malicious concludes, the gold shine of his armor gleaming in his face. "At the end phase, No Heart X activates its last effect; I can take one monster from my banished pile and make it an overlay unit for it."

A monster flies out and becomes a floating unit for the dragon. "Your move."

'There's only one way I can win… I just need to draw that card." He reaches for his deck and draws Scrap Fist. 'Damn it. But, I can still pull it off.' "I summon Synchron Explorer!"

A circular and red robot appears onto the field. This monster waves its hand to the others.

Explorer: 0/700 (2)

"I can special summon one Synchron monster from my graveyard. Come back, Accel Synchron!" His Synchro Tuner makes a reappearance. "I then tune my two monsters together!"

His two monsters sync together, and in a fashion repeated by Stardust Warrior form into a single warrior. "Come out, Stardust Charge Warrior!"

Stardust Charge Warrior: 2000/1300 (6)

"His effect when synchro summoned allows me to draw." Emblem draws his card and reveals it almost immediately. "I drew it. Rainbow Veil."

The Horseman of War twitches when he sees that spell. It is the one card that can defeat his dragon. "I will then Equip it to Stardust Warrior!"

The already beautiful machine warrior becomes enamored in a viscous seven colored veil. "The last thing I'll do is reawaken Level Eater from the graveyard by reducing Charge's level." The ladybug returns in a defending position. "Battle!"

Stardust Warrior flies in charging a bright beam. "Attack No Heart X Dragon with Shooting Static!" It then fires out as an electric stream.

"Trap card open, Mirror Force." A wall of light shines, blinding and blasting back the lightning. "It destroys all attack positioned monsters you control!" The lightning shatters Stardust Warrior, Synchron Explorer and Charge Warrior, leaving him only Level Stealer.

"Wait, the card was Mirror Force?"

The Horseman then laughs. "I told you I had a fearsome card set. Normally you try to work around it!"

"Who calls Mirror Force a fearsome card?! Literally every person in the world has that damn card! I was expecting something stupid and complicated!"

"That's what the rest of my deck is for. And now that Rainbow Veil is gone, you're out of options." Malicious grins under his golden plated mask. "This war belongs to me."

The young Fudo looks at the remaining cards in his hand, and then back at Emily. "Well, there is atleast one thing I can do. Which is fine, because even if I lose I'll be freed by my friends afterwards."

"What?"

"What?" This is Emily.

A trail of stardust rises from the field, taking the shape of a new figure. "Stardust Warrior, when he's destroyed, allows me to special summon a Warrior Synchro monster from my Extra Deck treating it as a Synchro Summon. Come out, Junk Warrior!"

His ace monster makes an appearance, in all its violet glory.

Junk Warrior: 2300/1200 (5)

"When Synchro summoned, it gains the attack of all level 2 or lower monsters on the field. Power of Fellows!" The warrior yells upward as it increases in power, adding 600 to 2300 for 2900 atk.

"Yeah, and?"

"And, I activate from my hand Scrap Fist." A quickplay empowers Junk Warrior. "Now, recommence the battle!"

Junk Warrior flies forward, igniting its jetpack.

"Fool. I activate No Heart X's effect!" Unfortunately, the monster remains still. "Eh?"

"Scrap Fist, when Junk Warrior battles, you can't activate card effects during its battles. You take double the damage. It deals piercing damage, and Junk Warrior destroys your monster at the end of the damage step. Meaning, he'll deal just enough damage to end you and you can't absorb it with your monster's effect."

"Wait, what?!" Malicious raises his eyebrows so fast his mask cracks. "But, you'll still take the battle damage!"

"Sucks for you then," he replies, before Junk Warrior summons a yellow aura around his big fist. "Scrap Fist!" Junk Warrior smashes into No Heart X, causing cracks to spread throughout. It roars as the power of his fist explodes it.

The fist continues through and crushes Malicious, who tries to block. "DAMN YOU EMBLEM!" Malicious explodes as well from the punch.

The head of No Heart X falls in from of Emblem, before it opens its mouth and releases its breath attack. He simply accepts it.

"Emblem!" Emily rushes for her brother, but it's too late. He's already dead.

Demise turns around and watches as one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse is defeated. He then laughs. "So he managed to lose? Amazing."

"Emblem…" Emily drops down watching her brother being transported. She takes in a deep breath, swallowing her sadness. 'No, it's fine. Emblem gets transported here, so we can save him and the others.'

The Horseman of Death walks forward towards her, grabbing the poor girl. "I'm interested. You're coming with me."

He walks away carrying her. "Let me go! Let me go!"

"Yo, you heard what she said!" Anna, Tyson and Jesse chase after Demise.

As Demise storms, an arrow falls just before him. It explodes into snow, blinding all in white diamond dust. The Horseman of Death summons his ax and blows it away, coming before two familiar people. "Well, what a familiar sight."

…

Madas raises a card from his hand. "I summon Galaxy-Eyes Cloud Dragon!" A chibi version of Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon appears to the field. "I then sacrifice it to summon Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon!"

The original dragon forms from the remains of the tiny cluster, roaring as it appears to the field.

Galaxy-Eyes: 3000/2500 (8)

"I'll set one card and end my turn."

Ruin makes a quick look over at Takeshi and Alexianna, and draws her card. "I'll set two cards facedown and end my turn."

The egoist huffs before laughing. "And here I thought you were a threat." He draws and shouts, "Battle!"

Galaxy-Eyes charges its attack. "Wait, Madas!"

"I activate Cubic Rebirth." A field of golden cubes flies along the field. They spiral line an eternal loop forming two monster Galaxy-Eyes monsters.

"Eh?"

"Cubic Rebirth forces out the other copies of your monster, reduces their attack power to zero and gives them all Cubic Counter." The power of the dragons fade into gray colors, weakening them. "Cubic Countered monsters lose their ability to attack and have their effects negated."

"You bitch…"

"And, I can also do this. If I place a counter, I can special summon the Cubic King – Geira Guile!" A green being with twin wings and a mouth for a body appears.

Geira Guile: 0/0 (2)

"When special summoned from the hand, Geira Guile deals 800 damage." It fires beams from its eye at Madas.

Madas: 3200

"…Then, I'll do this. I overlay my two level 8 monsters!" Two of his monsters form together in a bright light, as a sword lands on the field.

"Galactic Ultimate Dragon, Numbers 62; in the darkness and light of the wandering universe, the sleeping dragon who sleeps in the interstice, will use its power to open and create the doors of truth! Xyz Summon!" The sword transforms, giving light to hundreds of galaxies in one form. The being appears, revealed as a light blue and black dragon. It resembles Galaxy-Eyes, if only slightly more advanced. "Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon!"

Prime Photon: 4000/4000 -8-

"I end my turn." The new dragon roars as it appears.

"Whoa… he evolved too?" Alexianna says in shock.

"… Meh. Clear Wing is still cooler."

"Don't be jealous."

"Draw." Ruin, much more enthused, takes out a card. "I summon Vijam, the Cubic Seed." A series of cubes form before Ruin, before taking the shape of a black sphere. A single eye sprouts from it as it stares at Madas.

Vijam: 0/0 (1)

"I then sacrifice Vijam and Geira to special summon the next evolution – Vulcan Dragni the Cubic King!" The two monsters meld together into one, forming an oval shaped monstrosity with eight tentacled arms with blades for pincers. In its chest cavity, Vijam can be seen.

Vulcan Dragni: 1600/0 (3)

"Vulcan deals 800 damage as well." Its main eye up top takes aim and fires a beam at Madas, who now stumbles backwards.

Madas: 2400

"Vulcan, attack!" Its blades shoot out to attack the weakened Galaxy-Eyes left behind.

Madas: 800

"I couldn't send him away, but now he's free from that effect."

"Cubic Mandala, activate." She reveals her facedown, and Vulcan shines. "Cubic Mandala lets me bring back your dragon, and keep it back to its broken self." Galaxy-Eyes returns, its body still damaged like from before. "And now, Vulcan Dragni reverts to Vijam."

Vijam makes it reappearance from the grave. "And I add Indiora Death Bolt to my hand." She reveals her card to him. "And now, Infernal Reckless Summon activate!"

"The what?!" All three say at once.

"Because Vijam is summoned, I can bring out its other two copies." She then makes a held in laugh as her field is swarmed with two more Vijams. "And now I get to sacrifice all three!"

The Vijams form together, turning into a more majestic being. White arms, triple blue legs all made of Vijam, and a menacing face, this is her newest monster. "Meet Indiora Death Bolt, the Cubic Emperor! And he deals 800 damage to you!"

Indiora opens its mouth face up, before a cannon forms in front of his face. "MADAS!"

Kenshin: That ends this chapter.

Yusei: How many are left?

Kei: Seven. We still have nine characters left, and next time we're doing the final backstory.

Morrigan: Can I-

Kei: No!

Effect: Three level 10 monsters

This card cannot be destroyed by battle. Any battle Damage you take is also inflicted upon your opponent. When this monster battles, activated card effects are negated until the Damage Step. During either player's turn you can detach one Overlay Unit; when this card battles, your opponent takes any battle damage you would take for the rest of the turn. If this card was Xyz Summoned using a Rank Up Magic card, it gains this effect:

At the end phase of the turn this card detached an Xyz Material, if it has none you can attach one banished monster to it as an Xyz Material.

Effect: Activate only while you control ten or more banished monsters, two of them are of the same level and you have less lifepoints than your opponent. Special summon one Xyz monster from your Extra Deck whose Rank is equivalent to the levels of the majority of them, and then special summon one monster with the same type and attribute but one Rank higher than that monster. (This is treated as an Xyz Summon)
