When they walked into the kitchen, they were still laughing and holding hands.
"What are you two up to?" Gretchen questioned.
"You're a braver woman than I am." Arlene quipped.
Cuddy shot Arlene a dirty look. "Don't listen to my mother. Greg challenged me to a bowling match on the Wii he bought this morning. We were just discussing our little wager."
Gretchen laughed. "I hope you win Lisa."
House scowled. "Hey, you are supposed to be on my side. You're my aunt."
Gretchen laughed. "Sorry Greg, I'm with Lisa this time."
House huffed and walked out of the room. "You told him. Where have you been all day?"
"Just visiting some old friends. I heard about our guests."
"Yeah. They are really sweet. They're going to stay with us until they can find a place. I hope you don't mind."
"No, no. I was wondering if you still wanted me to come back with you."
"Of course I do. I want you to be there to see your new niece and nephew."
"Ok. If you're sure it won't be too much trouble."
"Please. The kids love you. You have been a huge help to us."
Gretchen nodded. "Now, I have a few tips for you."
"About?"
"Bowling. I'm the Wii Bowling Champion at the senior center at home."
"Really?"
Gretchen and Cuddy discussed bowling. Cuddy listened intently trying to take in as much information as possible before House came back. When he walked back in the room, he was immediately suspicious.
"What's going on here?"
"Nothing. We were just talking about the next few weeks. Gretchen was afraid we wouldn't want her there since Jeff and Megan are coming back with us."
"That's ridiculous."
"I told her we still wanted her."
"Good." He turned to Arlene and Blythe. "Where's the food? I'm hungry."
Everyone just shook their head.
"You're a bottomless pit." Arlene stated.
"I'm a growing boy. Right Mom?"
"Boy my ass." Arlene whispered.
"Yes dear. You'll always be my boy." Blythe chuckled.
Everyone came in the dining room and dinner was served. Jeff, Megan, Adam, and Josh seemed to enjoy their meal and everyone seemed to get along well. After dinner, Blythe excused herself and Jake followed. When they walked back in, Blythe was carrying a birthday cake. Everyone sang Happy Birthday to Josh and he grinned from ear to ear. Blythe and Jake gave him the presents they had picked up when they had gone out earlier. Megan and Jeff were overwhelmed at the generosity their family had been shown.
"Jeff, do you have anyone to help you move?"
"Um, no. It's just me and Megan."
"I can stay and help tomorrow." Jake interjected.
"Me too." Blythe piped in.
"I really appreciate your offer but I can't ask you to help. You've already been so kind to us."
"Well, if you change your mind, just let us know." Jake replied.
Later that evening, Jeff pulled Jake aside and they discussed the move.
"Jake, I don't want you to think I am ungrateful but .."
"It's ok Jeff. I understand. I'm sure Blythe and I would just get in your way."
"No, no. It isn't that."
"What's wrong?"
"We don't really have much to pack and .."
"It's ok. If you don't want to tell me, I understand."
"It's embarrassing."
"I would never betray your confidence."
"I don't even know how we are even going to get to New Jersey. We don't have a car anymore."
"Do you think your stuff could fit in the back of Greg's vehicle?"
"Yes, the place we were renting came furnished so we don't have any furniture but all of us and the kids won't fit with everything."
"Let me handle it."
Jake and Jeff walked into the game room where House was ribbing Cuddy about their upcoming bowling match.
"Greg, do you mind taking the van back tomorrow? I'm going to stay and help Jeff and Megan pack."
"Sure Jake. No problem."
"Do you mind taking Adam and Josh with you so we can hurry and pack?"
"No. Jeff, do you think they will stay with us without you and Megan?"
"I think so. They seem to like you guys."
Jake turned to Jeff. "I told you it would work out."
"Come on, Cuddy. Prepare to lose the bet."
"Dream on."
"I'll even let you pick a partner. We'll bowl doubles."
"Ok. I pick Gretchen."
"Gretchen. Fine it's your funeral." He thought for a moment. "I pick Stephen."
"Yes Uncle Greg. Sorry Aunt Lisa but you're going down."
After the bowling match, House and Stephen were pouting.
"You cheated."
"How did I cheat?"
"I don't know but you did."
After a couple of hours, House was still huffing around since he had lost the bowling match. Everyone had discussed the riding arrangements for the next day. Josh and Adam had agreed that they would stay with House and Cuddy as long as they could camp out with Stephen, Rachel and Levi. Cuddy and House had even talked Jeff and Megan into spending the night at the cottage since it was late and the kids would need to get up early to leave for New Jersey. Rachel had loved the Wii and was actually starting to play pretty well. When everyone decided to go to bed, Cuddy grabbed House's hand and dragged him out of the room to their bedroom.
"Why are you still pouting?"
"Because I lost."
"But you won too. You get me."
"True but I wanted you to get me."
"Ugh. You are so frustrating. It was just a game."
"I know but you've never played and I have. Gretchen is old."
Cuddy laughed. She decided to put him out of his misery. "Haven't you heard about senior centers installing those game systems?"
"She plays?"
"She's the bowling champion at the senior center she goes to."
"I was right. You cheated." He started tickling her.
"No. That's not cheating. That was perfectly legal. I still won. You have to pay up."
He gently pushed her down on the bed. "If you insist."
"Not now."
"What? You've been trying to hump me all day."
She laughed. "I know but when I cash in on the bet I don't want to be over seven months pregnant." She looked deep into his eyes. "I want to wait until after these two are born."
"No sex until after the twins are born? Come on Lisa. You know we can't wait that long."
"No you idiot. We can have sex but I reserve the right to cash in after the twins are born."
"Thank God." He collapsed beside her on the bed. "I thought you were cutting me off."
"No way." She turned her head toward him. "Now, let's see. I need sex and a massage."
"Sex first."
"My thoughts exactly." She chuckled and they moved to the middle of the bed. They removed their clothes and made love. As they were lying there trying to catch their breath, Cuddy exhaled slowly.
"As good as that was." She turned her head to look at him. "I really miss missionary."
"You're kidding."
"Nope. I miss you lying on top of me. I miss your chest hair tickling my nipples." She ran her finger down his arm. "I miss looking in your eyes when you push yourself inside me. Don't you miss it?"
"Yeah. I miss getting you into all those freaky positions. It won't be too much longer before they're born. Then things can get back to normal."
"I know but I still miss it."
"Me too."
They went to soak in the tub and later House gave her the massage. They slept wrapped up in each other's arms. It was becoming harder for Cuddy to get as close to House as she liked. He could tell that she wasn't sleeping as well as usual. Partly due to the increasing discomfort from the pregnancy and partly due to being unable to cuddle with him the way she wanted.
During the middle of the night, Blythe woke up thirsty so she went to the kitchen to get something to drink. Wilson was already there staring into space.
"James, couldn't you sleep?"
"Uh, sorry Blythe. What did you say?"
"I asked if you were having problems sleeping."
"Yeah. I've got a lot on my mind."
"If you would like to talk, I'll be happy to listen."
"I appreciate that Blythe." Blythe nodded and went to get some water. "He's barely spoken to me this entire weekend."
"Who?"
"House. I guess I thought he would be over that whole Stacy thing."
"I believe he's been over that James."
"Then why has he avoided me all weekend."
"I didn't realize he had ignored you. He's spent time with Lisa, the kids, Stephen, Jake, Gretchen and I."
"Exactly. He's spent time with you guys but barely spoken a few words to me. I guess I thought he would hang out with me some like he used to do."
"He has a family now."
"I know. It's just weird to see him being a family man. I always thought that would be me and he would be the one trying to fit into my life not the other way around."
"Are you jealous?"
"I guess I am. Not that he has Cuddy but that he has someone and I don't." Blythe nodded. "I don't know why I'm jealous. I've been married three times. This is his first marriage. I just miss spending time with him."
"I'm sure you do but he has a family now."
"I know. This is insane. What was their relationship in college?"
"What do you mean?"
"I overheard Julia and Michael arguing. She was actually telling him he needed to be more like House. She said that House saved Cuddy in college."
"I'm sorry but I can't tell you about it. If Greg or Lisa wants you to know, they need to be the one to tell you."
"They hooked up in college didn't they? I knew that bastard was keeping something from me."
"James, I will not stand here and listen to you bad mouth my son. He's a good man."
"I'm sorry Blythe."
"James, I can't tell you how he saved her but I can tell you that they did know each other at Michigan but they lost touch when he left."
Wilson thought for a few minutes. "It has something to do with that professor I saw on the news doesn't it?"
"James, I don't know what you are talking about."
"Yes, you do. You are a terrible liar. Did Cuddy sleep with that professor or something? Is that why they lost touch?"
"No James. As far as I know Lisa never slept with a professor at Michigan."
"House was kicked out for cheating. I know that much." Blythe blanched pale. "That's not the whole story is it?"
"No but I can't tell you."
"Does it have anything to do with Cuddy?"
"Yes. Indirectly."
"Just tell me."
"I can't. It's not my place to tell you. I told Arlene some of it and he was upset with me. If you want to know, you will have to ask him. I will not say anything else about it. James, why does it matter so much to you?"
Wilson thought for a minute. "I .." He paused. "I guess it really shouldn't matter. It happened before we ever met. He's happy now with Cuddy."
"I think if you ever want to be in his life again that you should wait for him to trust you again. If you butt in now, he will trust you even less."
"You're right. I guess I should concentrate on getting my own life straightened out."
Blythe and Wilson went back to their separate beds. Wilson slept fitfully thinking back over his life. He tried to figure out why his marriages had failed. He finally decided that everything went back to one person. The question is should he try to find this person or just try to find someone else.
The next morning everyone woke up and ate breakfast. They decided the riding arrangements back to Princeton since Blythe and Jake were staying to help Jeff and Megan. Gretchen was riding with House, Cuddy, and the kids. Arlene was going to ride with Julia, Michael and their kids. After breakfast was over, Julia walked over and hugged House.
"Thank you Greg."
"You're welcome. Why are you thanking me though?"
"For yesterday." House looked puzzled. "Stephen told me."
House turned to Stephen. "She asked me about it Uncle Greg. I couldn't lie to my Mom."
House huffed. "I know. It's no big deal Julia."
"What's no big deal?" Cuddy wanted to know.
"He saved Stephen's life yesterday at the store. Stephen said he had been standing right where the bullet went and Greg pushed him out of the way. That's how Greg was shot. He was pushing Stephen out of the way and the bullet hit him. Didn't he tell you?"
Cuddy looked at House who looked uncomfortable. "No, he didn't tell me."
"I didn't want to upset you."
"I'm not upset. I'm just glad that you weren't hurt worse than you were. I don't know what I would do if something happened to you." She leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.
